I do not recommend this business. Lot's of other good, solid, ethical places to choose from in this area. I left several vms, called several times and had to threaten a bad google review to get someone to cancel a scammy 'membership' that I got when I signed up for a FREE month. When I tried to cancel it, I got the run around and it took several calls and days to get something done. I called the corporate office and never heard back at ALL so I would not ever recommend this place to anyone.

This is the best gym on the Eastside. I've felt welcome ever since II signed up . Very clean and orderly operation . The staff are super friendly, and greet you when you come in . Free classes ,and saunas in the mens and woman's locker room a plus . I am a deadlifter so the fact that have a Rogue deadlift station with Rogue bumpers blows me away . Rogue deadlift bar , jack and platform. Love this Gym keep it up Fitworks!

There’s a decent amount of equipment. But it’s so dirty. The sauna smells. I go almost everyday and use the exact same machine yet it clearly hasn’t been cleaned in well over a month. The VIP room blast music so loud I can’t hear my own music in my headphones. And the amount of people that come in yapping through a whole workout or literally with a headset taking calls is insane. It’s a gym I know it’s not gonna be quiet but I’m not trying to hear your phone conversation for an hour.

Update as of August 17th 2025:
I took a week off from this gym. Come back machines have been cleaned and smell in Sauna has been resolved. Nice when give feedback the gym is quick to correct.

The gym itself is excellent—clean facilities, a strong community, and standout staff (especially at the Stow location). The workout environment is respectful, and if you’re new, you’ll find plenty of inspiration from fellow members. That’s the part that earns praise.
However, my rating is based solely on the frustrating cancellation experience. I provided the required 30-day notice in person, informing the manager of my relocation. He made small talk and even wished me well—but unfortunately, he never processed the cancellation. I discovered this only after being billed again.
What’s worse is that he behaved as though everything was being handled, which felt misleading. I’ve submitted a formal complaint to the Ohio Attorney General’s office, not out of spite, but to ensure this doesn't happen to anyone else.
Suggestions for Fitworks:
- Implement a reliable cancellation feature through the app or website.
- Always provide written confirmation of cancellation.
- Train staff on accountability and follow-through.
A lesson learned: always request paperwork during cancellation, no matter how friendly or familiar the interaction may feel.

Management, specifically Jenny was amazing at cancelling our memberships( kids go to school work out programs) so we didn’t need it anymore but there were some billing errors and they were corrected immediately with follow up calls and just very professional- overall gym is fantastic - tons of cardio and weight training areas even if it’s very busy you can always find a machine- lockers rooms are nice as well- will join again if needed- recommend if you’re looking for a good gym experience!!!

I read in another review where the customer complained of paywalling 24/7 hours. To which the club responded that basic hours are 29/month and 24/7 is 39/month. I'm currently paying the 39/month and apparently do not have 24/7 access so that's complete bs. I realize everything went up in price so I'm not sure if they upped it from 37.75 to 64.75. But I still don't appreciate being charged for something I thought was all hours. And having to pay another enrollment fee just to upgrade when I'm already a member

If you want a class that is in high demand you will have to sign up at 12:01 Am in the morning to get in. . I brought it to the attention to management and all they said is…. They can’t do anything about it. That is what management set the time at. Not let me see what I can do. NO COSTOMER SATISFACTION.. ! I said can’t you set the time at 9:00am a more reasonable time or 12:00 noon??? No that is the time they set and no changing. Sometimes we need to except the rules . Now I am at a different gym. I love that you can utilize the gym 24/7. I work evenings and enjoy going after work. It's the best time to go if you don't want to deal with a crowd. They have limited machines so night time is the right time. I have not been able to try the group fitness classes as they are scheduled during times that I can't attend.

The gym could use a little updating but overall it has what I need, it's clean, and I love that I can go after hours when most other gyms are closed.

I’m extremely disappointed with this gym’s billing policies. They automatically charged my credit card for a family member’s membership without proper authorization. When I tried to cancel, they insisted that the person be present—despite the fact that this person wasn’t even there to sign up in the first place!

It’s unacceptable that they have no issue charging my card but refuse to process a refund or cancellation in a fair manner. Their system and policies need serious improvement. I would not recommend this gym to anyone looking for transparent and ethical business practices.

FitWorks is too old school for me. They have old equipment, the weight area is really close together and they continue to use old traditional sales tactics like a car salesman. They are super pushy and micromanage every single thing. They are all about the bottom line. I remember they had multiple signs around piggybacking. You can get a day pass but you’ll have to go through hoops just to use it. If the gym and the classes were so good, they would speak for themselves and people would be more inclined to join. Nobody wants to be hounded. It’s not worth it.

Pros: the gym is clean and open 24 hours (highest tier membership only)

Con: there is a lot of underutilized space at this location. Two large group workout rooms, plus a spinning room leaves very little space for everything else, and it's noticable when these rooms are only used 25% of the time.The free weight area is crammed and crowded, with only one area to deadlift, one Smith machine, and three squat racks. At peak times it can be hard to get a bench. Plus if you do snag one, you feel like you are in the way. The equipment is on the older side too. Also, the cell phones - it seems like everyone is on a call during their workout. Staff does little to deter this or enforce a "conversations in the lobby" policy.

We love our Fitworks Highland Heights and their wonderful staff. From our first meeting with Dave, who talked us through the membership and personal training details, we have enjoyed a friendly, clean and high energy environment. Our trainer, MJ, has a Bachelor of Science degree and can help us with training, nutrition and motivation! I have never worked this hard to accomplish and reach a fitness goal before. MJ helped make the gym familiar and safe instead of intimidating. All fitness levels are here and all ages. Membership and staff are friendly and helpful. Never in my life have I seen a gym paywall the hours you can go there to workout. If you look at the details of a normal $35 membership here, you can ONLY lift during staffed hours, which staff leaves at 8pm on weekdays and earlier than that on the weekends and it's an additional $10 fee to go at all hours.

Gym automatically renews on a month to month basis once contract is up. Some equipment is nice like T-bar and hack squat but overall the rest is underwhelming and not worth the price. Also hope you enjoy the 20 high schoolers in pajamas that swarm the benches and mess around on Snapchat the entire time rather than workout.

Pros: lots of free weights and machines, even during busy hours I haven’t felt like I was fighting for equipment.

I am a senior citizen with my membership through the Silver Sneakers (Silver&Fit) Program. The staff is so respectful and gracious to me. The facility is clean and well stocked. Just joined so far I like the staff and the gym itself is spacious with free weights, many different types of nautilus as well as updated cardio machines that include HIIT programs. The place is slightly more in price than it’s main competition but I would say it’s justified as they are open 24/7 365 days a year and includes a assessment of fitness goals with a licensed Personal trainer which I feel is even more important to a beginner. No tanning beds but no “real fitness” would promote that even with waivers due to its potentially deadly consequences (Ie skin cancer). The goal is to be on this PLANET in healthy fit manner which would also promote longevity. I feel that fireworks is a legitimate when it comes to fitness and as real as it gets. So I give them 5 stars for not selling out and being real. The gym is beautiful updated equipment and helpful and knowledgeable staff !!!

I loved the Fitworks in Stow, which I was a member of for more than 10 years. But this one is awful. They don't care about anything except the bottom line. They swindled me out of $250 and will not return my calls or emails. Of course when I disputed the charges on my credit card, they were really quick to defend themselves—so they can get in touch when their money is on the line. Be careful. They will get you one way or another.

Update: I see they've responded below. Why don't they just reply to my emails and phone calls instead of telling *me* to reach out—something I've done repeatedly without any response from them.

Used to enjoy going here, yet since the pandemic started, they have consistently not enforced the mask mandate, leading to a large number of members and occasionally employees completely ignoring it and not wearing masks. I have attempted to contact them numerous times and it has led to nothing, although they keep assuring me they are "trying their best." I continue to see employees conversing with individuals not wearing masks without saying anything to them regarding the mandate. No one seems to care here that the pandemic is the worse it has been.

Also today was the first day of a government-mandated mask-wearing policy and from the front desk, I could see at least five people in the gym without a mask. I joined 2 months ago and love the group exercise classes. Alex is the best when I come. Always a warm smile and a hello. When I bring my mat and the class is cancelled, he will watch it for me when I go in the theatre workout room. Signing up with Scott was fun and he always remembers me when I walk in. Bad customer service, went in to try it out (i recently moved here from akron) and told them I was trying out a few gyms to see what was the best fit. Was told confusing info about memberships and also told the “sale” ended that day. Machines are maintained and clean. RARE, if one of the hundreds of machines is down for more than 24 hours. No jerks, or leering creeper types, not a "dating meat market" just a full spectrum of ages, body types, and fitness levels. X2 Training is brutal and even a total beginner is mentored and taught with respect and guidance. Personal Trainers, are the best in the buisiness, young, old, serious lifters, fitness buffs, or senior anti aging, no matter your goal, or lifestyle, you fit in here. Joint replacement rehab, surgery rehab, cardiac event rehab, arthritis prevention, they are equipped for all and more.

And CLEAN, full time cleaning on site DAILY. You can SEE them cleaning and sanitizing all day, while you sweat! Thank you Gino!

I have been a member for several years. Initially the gym was 24 hrs. My biggest complaint is the gym hours now- they close at 6p on weekends and don't open until 5a on Monday. This limits me from working out since I take care of elderly parents and get up at early to fit in a workout. They need to be more accommodating and go back to 24 hrs /7 days a week. My other complaint is the front desk "help". Poor customer service.
Positives: the gym is clean and they seem to keep the equipment in good shape. They have a lot of machines and the classes are very good. Spinning classes are excellent. My wish list would be for a spinning or yoga class at 8a on Saturday and Sunday.

the elderly cashier lady that I was "throwing my credit card at her" [I simply handed it to her with my driver's licence since she asked for both], (2) wrongly accused by 2 older ladies of 'misplacing' the handle attachments to one of the machines and (3) harassed by a staff member for "dropping the weights too hard". I go to my gym here in Houston 6 days a week for the last 3 years and was never told I "drop the weights too hard". Not sure why I was picked on by this establishment. Too bad I was going to recommend my mother to come here but she is too scared because she is afraid she will be bothered and judged. That is a high possibility at this place.

Terrible customer service I am a United States Marine home on leave and I wished to use the facility and was willing to pay the cost but was treated very rude and unfair.
