I’ve been going to Fitworks Parma for years, ever since I worked at the GNC right next door, and it’s still my favorite gym in the area. The staff is always friendly, the space is clean, and there’s plenty of equipment even during busier hours. I’ve tried other gyms, but I always end up coming back here because it just feels comfortable and consistent. It’s a great place to get a solid workout in, whether you’re lifting heavy or just keeping up with a routine.

Moved far away, tried to cancel over phone guy refused. Okay, called bank blocked transactions from the company. Few months later they send a gym membership to collections HAHA how petty. Still won't be paying you and trying to make someone states away "cancel in person only" due to "policy" is bad enough, however not unheard of I've had to cancel gym memberships by calling ly bank before but sending it to collections is so incredibly petty, did you enjoy the 5 cents on the dollar you sold my debt for?

I am new to the area and trying different clubs.
I saw a sign that said a free month to try out.
I asked for a tour from a BORED looking male attendant. Reluctantly, he got up. Polite and professional during the tour, just phone distracted.
I said I only wanted to do a free trial or a month. He said ok, had me sign up and got my credit card info. He said I'd be charged at the end of the month if I wanted to continue. It's a note worthy thing to also include, he AUTOMATICALLY charged me for a more expensive membership of $39+ per month instead of the 29+ per month which some people may miss. When I asked why, he explained it away and I let it go but these are some older, sleezy sales tactics that I had thought had gone out with with the VHS recorders!
I called 8 or so days later to cancel. I'm not going to use this. I was transferred to voicemail and left a message.
Waited two days. No return call.
Called again. Another voicemail.
I then called then their corporate office and left a voicemail. (STILL NO CONTACT as of Monday at 11am! )
I called again and spoke with Maria. Maria did her best to retain my membership offering me different ways to use the club. For about TEN FULL MINUTES. I just wanted this canceled, not feel like I am getting the run around. I do realize part of her job is to retain so I am allowing her to do her job but still trying to nicely say no thank you. At one point, when I said, thank you but no, she said, 'Well I'm not trying to argue with you" which I called out.
My voice was NOT raised.
My tone was calm and firm.
So she used 'triggers' to try to get to me.
I said, 'No one is arguing. I appreciate you but I don't want this membership'
She changed her tone to and said, it was a 'figure of speech' to accuse me of arguing lol (Whatever)
She offered me a free membership until January. I have nothing that shows I can cancel then, if I wanted to. She said just to let someone know that SHE had said I could cancel outside of what APPEARS to be their policy. At this point, I needed to get off of the phone for work so I said ok for now.
I waited a few more days because I was trying to have an open mind but felt SUPER uncomfortable about the interaction. Something just felt off. So I called Saturday the 15th & was told that she works on Sundays.
So I called on Sunday. First call, no person answers. Second call, I get her and she put me on hold for ten minutes. I hung up, called back and she apologized. She said I would have an email notification of the cancellation and this was SUNDAY the 16th.
BIG SHOCKER that I did not receive that.
I called today, Monday and was told that she was not in yet she comes in at 9AM. Called again at 9:15ish and was told to try again later, she was running late.
Called around 11AM. A male answered the phone, no name. I asked to please speak with the manager and he said, sure and said, "May I ask your name, please". I said very politely, no thank you.
This TRIGGERED this person into becoming suddenly, 'I'm a manager, I can help you' lol RIGGHHHTT I say no thank you again, calmly. I want to speak with Maria. He became dominating and rude. I calmly said no thank you for the 3rd time, I'd like to speak with the person I've been working with.
Maria got on the phone & said AGAIN that she was 'so sorry' and said she would send that to me now. Put me on hold until I finally, again hung up. I was intending to try the corporates office, again.
But, few minutes later, I finally got the email that says I will not be billed. THANK YOU!!!!!! This is all I wanted to begin with. Something that legally protects me from auto billing for a year membership I did not want.
I am posting this in case there are those especially, or OLDER folks who might be susceptible to trickery, shady sales/workers and/or pushy tactics. Fixed incomes are no joke.

I've been going to Fitworks gym for many years, the Parma location is a great gym with a great variety of equipment including one of my favorites the momentum treadmills, brand new rogue metal and bumper plates and a new squat rack and deadlift area! This location can be busy during peak hours but the 24/7 option can remedy that. Regardless of your fitness level there is something for you.

Do not go here! When you try to get out of your membership they will continue to take your money even after telling them to cancel repeatedly. If you decide to go here never give them auto pay privileges. They will continue to charge you for services not rendered. They have been charging us for months and our daughter has not used their facility since March 2022 and they were told repeatedly to cancel, ignored our VMs when they kept charging us and ignored our initial verbal request to cancel in April.

Absolutely love it here! I am a mom of two and have been trying to look for a gym for years! It is affordable, has wonderful childcare and everyone who works there and works out there is so nice! The exercise classes are amazing, the equipment is nice and clean and it’s not too overcrowded. The smoothies are great, good music plays, the trainers are always so helpful if you have a question, and the childcare workers are so sweet! When we first started I was so worried because my kids were upset about me leaving them, but Maria helped them feel so comfortable and like we belong! Would recommend this over any other gym in the area!! (Oh and p.s. there’s massage chairs AND a sauna!)

I went to this gym for several months and always had a great experience. There is plenty of equipment and weights so not much waiting around no matter when you go. Extremely difficult to cancel, lied about my contract. Avoid this gym.

Edit: They cancelled my membership after initially refusing to cancel my membership without providing proof of me moving, to which I recieved a phone call from the manager who confirmed over the phone that they signed me up for a 1 Year membership, even though I didn't ask for it. On top of this, during the phone call after telling the manager I left this One-Star review, told me "I have all 4 of your signatures sitting in front of me" as if she was telling me she would take it to court. Do NOT give your money to this company/franchise.

I love Fitworks. I’ve been going to this gym for 8 months now and it is my top favorite. I signed up for personal training at Parma with Mike in January 2023.

I finished 1 month of training and canceled my card to not be charged anymore for many reasons including tardiness starting my session, ending my sessions early, and lack of consideration of things i had going on in my body.
These are 3 seperate things that lead me to realize this was not worth $36 a session.

1. chronic plantar faciatis- wanted me to do 10 sets of 10 calf raises. 2. behind the neck pulldowns - not safe 3. my left leg was doing all the on 225lb hack squats
. When i told him he had me do single leg to see the difference and the right leg was clearly not as strong. He ended my session early instead of just lowering the weight and allowing me to do what I could that day

i canceled my credit card and was not charged again. i was never contacted by Mike or anyone else at Fitworks about my contract or personal training.

Randomly in November 2023 my new credit card which was never authorized for Fitworks or givem to them by me was charged for 9 months of training.

After months of arguing back and forth between the club and credit card I have 40 sessions to pay for and use. It took a week back and forth with Mike to get scheduled.

I was suppose to start back to training in Parma with Jason on Monday May 6th at 930. HE DID NOT SHOW UP!

Next I had Billy on 5/9 @ 930.
no assessment.. no nothing.
i have M.ed in Exercise Science. i have 20 years experience as a pt and am currently a pilates instructor. Billy put me on all machines. Never set my seat correctly, nothing. Proceeded to tell me I had 1 machine left half way through my 30 minutes session. I made him aware we had 15 minutes left and I was capable of more than one machine. He asked me my feedback. My response was I did not pay $36 session to use machines the workout was basic and not thought out.

He wanted to train bi /tris. I told him I workout 2 to 3 days a week and need my split to include larger muscles. Back and biceps it was.

My feedback my feedback on todays workout.

1. Iwill never train just bi/tri. I combine them with the appropiate larger muscle groups. i only strength train 2 to 3 x week.

2. Exercises are too basic. im advanced. Also, I need my body moved in all planes of motion (frontal, saggital amd tranverse planes) and all spinal movement( flexion, extension, rotation and lateral flexion) incorporated into each workout.

Couuld have added rear flys still back of body.

Side planks with rear flys to get core involved and side body. Even adding rotation here.

back extensiom for extension of the spine adding bicep curls or rows or even rotation.

lateral flexion on back extension with a rear fly.

renegade rows for core and back.

i also asked for a copy if his certification which he sent clarify he is newly certified. I also asked that he text me a copy of his plan for thursday since there doesnt seem to ever be one. HE NEVER DID!!!

air squats ( shouldnt have these been first as a warm up?)

still no rotation still no lateral movement easily possible to add.

squats could have had a booty band and been lateral or squat with a lateral lift.

instead of barbell lunges it could have been a med ball amd did walking with rotation.

This all unnacceptable for $36 a session and I either need an experienced trainer that will listen, be on time and give me my full time alotted or I want my money refunded. If not I will ill criticize every session on Facebook and ensure I tag Fitworks in post. I am really not sure why I am being held to a contract when there is now NO CONTRACT terms on personal training via thier FB Posts!

Went there once 3 years ago, paid upfront. Decided the atmosphere was not for me, so canceled my membership. Did not give any of my money back, which I said okay, let's just part ways. Now 3 years later I am getting collection calls saying they charged my old credit card (which by the way has been canceled now for over 2 years), saying I owe $200. Great Place, i did enjoy to use this location as a non member with a day free pass.
Great Facility, good Showers and a Sauna.
I was traveling through Cleveland and had to stay for few days locally while in the mean time i had to keep up with my training for Coming Marathon.
That day i planned to go and do the run outside but unfortunately the weather changed and wasn’t that great, with wind gusts up to 25 to 30 miles an hour with a cold wind I didn’t wonted to suffer but complete my training. So i went up to google and Searched for fitness clubs around me where FITWORKS at Parma was the closest to me.
I called in to see how much a non members pass would cost me for one day, at the reception the coach told me that the pass is free for one day tryout.
That put a smile on my face and made my day.
Thank you for letting me use one of your Treadmills for my 14 mile run, Thank you FITWORKS, 💪🏻🏃👍🏻 definitely will be coming back again next time around in a bad weather conditions.

I’ve been a member of this gym since 2017, and for good reason. Out of the 5/6 gyms I’ve been a member over the years, this one is by far the best.

For me, it’s about the little things. Regardless of who has managed the club during my time there, there has always been a priority on cleanliness, from the bathrooms to the water fountains, to having enough bottles around the club to wipe down the equipment when your are done with it.

Mike & Maria (current GM’s) are outstanding. Whenever Mike is on the floor and he sees you, it’s automatic to give you a ‘what’s up,’ or welcome or wish you a good day at the entrance. It’s not uncommon to see Mike / Maria on the floor cleaning a water fountain or re-racking a weight that someone forgot about. It’s obvious they both care about the club are great examples to the staff. I believe Mike used to be the personal training manager, and I still see him doing a ton of that in addition to managing the club.

The vibe of the gym is great too. I’m a middle aged guy and go mostly in mornings. This is the first gym I’ve been a member of that’s established a vibe that genuinely welcomes all - old and young, newbies to experienced. No cliques, no egos. Everyone just does their thing and seems to get a long.

I use a combination of machines and free weights and my workouts are very structured - it’s pretty much all business for me when I go in. I can usually get on anything I need. (Again, I go mostly in the mornings - just like most gyms, it does get busier late afternoon / night, but I’ve still been able to complete my workouts when I had to go in prime-time pretty efficiently.) If someone is using a piece of equipment you need, you just ask “how many sets,” and other club members are usually efficient, cleaning off the machine / bench for the next user.

UPDATE - Within days of writing this review, management reached out to me to fix the issue. We talked a few different times over the phone and they were very nice and apologetic. The issue was resolved by the following week and I was fully refunded for all of the charges. I hate that I had to leave a review to get this taken care of, but also very appreciative of quick resolution. Thank you!!!

I joined Fitworks in July 2022 & enrolled at the Parma location. After enrolling, I utilized the childcare service for 3 months, 07/22-09/22, which can be verified with the sign in/out sheet that is required with each visit. In September 2022, I called to cancel the service & was told that I would need to speak with a manager & the manager was not there but would call me back.

Two weeks later, in October 2022, my children and I lost our home and everything we owned in a house & the months that followed were a blur. I continued frequenting the gym, still not using childcare & in February 2023, realized I was still being charged the $27 a month since I called to cancel in September 2022. So, that was 5 months of not using childcare after calling to cancel (I never received a call back from the manager which can be verified with phone records), that I was charged for it. I called & actually got to speak with a manager & explained the situation & he said I would be refunded for ONE month out of the 5 & that the re-occurring charge would be canceled. I was not happy with that response, but figured it was fine as long as the service was cancelled from this point on.

Everything was ok for a while. I started going to the Rocky River location after moving, still frequenting the gym 4-6 days a week, never used childcare at the Rocky River location and still had not used childcare AT ALL since SEPTEMBER 2022, when I noticed in August of 2023 that I was charged for childcare in 07/23 and 08/23. I called Parma, since this is the only location I ever used childcare, explained the situation, talked to the female manager who was extremely rude. She only got on the phone after I asked several times to speak with a manager, was very short, said she would take care of it and follow up (I assumed that meant I would be refunded and she would call me back?), did not apologize for the inconvenience or acknowledge that they made a mistake and abruptly hung up on me.

It is now October 2023, I never heard back from the manager (no attempts to contact me which can be verified with phone records), I have not been refunded AND I have been charged the $27 fee AGAIN from 7/6/2023 - 10/6/2023 AND I STILL HAVE NOT USED CHILDCARE SINCE SEPTEMBER OF 2022.

This makes 9 invalid charges with 1 credit since I stopped using the service. Management clearly does not care. I will call AGAIN but have little faith in them rectifying the situation. This is stealing and I would like to be refunded for ALL incorrect charges since this is their mistake, not mine.

I would also like to note, I have never missed a payment for my membership, or my yearly fees, or done anything that would warrant the blatantly rude and unprofessional manner in which this has been handled.

this gym is AMAZING. The people are friendly, the staff is amazing, the equipment is always clean, and we couldn't ask for better managers (mike and maria- and if you have anything bad to say about them you're literally crazy....nicest people in the damn building) GROUP X classes are amazing, the cardio theater is awesome, and the gym itself feels like a family. It took me 27 years to find a gym where I actually fit in, and I couldn't have asked for a better place. I love this gym mainly because we all look out for each other. It feels like a FAMILY. Eyes are everywhere and when we notice something ain't right, we let each other know, as it should. The vibe is great, the atmosphere is friendly, and I cant say enough good things about this place.

Absolutely preposterous. We tried the gym once and got a year long membership, and then after a couple of times of going to the gym, we found there were restrictions on who could access certain equipment, and the culture was not encouraging and positive at all, they didn't have a lot of common things for everybody to use (only if you're getting personal training). Their yoga class and group classes are good but the rest of the gym is not. We went a total of 3 times and they did not refund us any money, charged us the entire year's cost. Then, they had the audacity to charge me again this year because apparently the membership was not cancelled. Logically, if someone has not used your gym in a year, and only used it thrice before and you already got money out of them for an entire year, you should probably not charge them again. We had a hard time contacting their main office, there was just too much bureaucracy and not enough good faith. Extremely frustrating experience and we had to keep going to the gym to get any attention to the matter. Really disappointed and will never make the mistake of paying upfront again.

I really enjoy this gym. The staff are friendly and they have all the equipment I would ever need.
However, they need to do a much better job at cleaning. There is balls of dust, dirt & hair in every visible nook and cranny, it's gross. The sauna is very dirty. You can see so much dirt in between the wooden planks. The lockers & showers also need cleaned. They did a much better job keeping clean during covid... Other than that, this is a great gym.

Similar to another review I just read. My dad had a membership at bally's years ago, fitworks bought them out. My dad was diagnosed with a terminal illness earlier this year so I tried cancelling his membership for him. Everyone I talked to kept giving me different numbers to call to have it cancelled. One lady was finally trying to help, but could not find him in the system. Interesting that they kept charging his account every month but couldn't find him in the system. I've also sent multiple emails with no response. My dad passed on Oct 9th, 9 days ago. Yesterday, Oct 17th, they charged a dead man's account. I'm furious.

Best gym I've ever been too! Not only is the staff knowledgeable, friendly but they have a genuine interest in me as a person and helping me better myself. Mike and Maria are such amazing people and you can tell they work hard and care about their clients. They even greet many by name. They have taken the time to make sure things are functioning as they should, cleaned regularly and they take their time to train the staff when something is new to them. Mike helped me as my personal trainer and really pushed me past the limits I thought I was capable of reaching. He really inspired me and helped me realize what I could do and I am deeply grateful for his patience and support. I am very thankful to have been part of this gym.

I heard about there trial pass and figured I would give it a try. When I came in to inquire about the trial pass, there was a short skinny kid with his feet up on the desk, playing on his cell phone. He didn’t even look up to acknowledge me when I walked in. I actually stood at the front desk for a minute or two before he looked up to see I someone was there. He seemed annoyed I was there and didn’t want to help me. Instead of giving me a tour, he let me walk around on my own. Great customer service. As I completed my self-guided tour, I noticed most of the tv’s were not working and one was flickering on/off. I guess management is too lazy to fix a simple problem. As I continued my tour, I noticed dry wall was braking off the wall and was in pieces on the floor in certain areas, some of the equipment was in poor condition and the bathrooms were disgusting. The bathrooms smelled like urine, paper towels all over the floor and there were urine soaked mats by the urinals. I ended up not taking advantage of the trial pass and went to another gym and signed up.

I had been in search of a gym in the area, close to home since moving and having a baby. Everywhere else I visited I was not even 1/2 the gym that Fitworks is. Maybe I was a little spoiled being a previous member at UXL in Brunswick and LA Fitness in Cuyahoga falls, but I had expectations for what I knew I needed and Fitworks exceeded them. The girls at the reception were immediately attentive and nice. The one girl, (name I did not catch- blonde, always there in the early afternoon) showed me around and signed me up for the 7-day pass. I got my workout in, explored, talked with the staff and knew I’d be signing up. Michael the manager was so nice and answered the main question I had regarding my newborn. So far, I’ve had no issues, nor do I think I will be having any. everything I need or know that I will be needing is there to get me to reach my goals. Even during busy hours, the place is so spacious and the equipment is evenly spread out so that you arnt on top of other people. You can be competitive body building level or beginner (which I’ve reverted back to since having a baby lol) the staff members are always there to help. I actually get excited to go workout again rather than feeling like it’s a drag, and that’s a good feeling.

FX Fitness & Fitworks operating somewhat shady. Continuing to charge me after fx was shut down. I go to Fitworks they tell me I would have to sign up with them. Whole time I’ve been getting charged still for a gym that’s shut down. Poor communication. They’ll do anything for a few bucks. Solid gym though just poor untrustworthy management

After further review, terrible company & management. Do not sign with this gym. Very deceitful activities going on. Taking money from my account when I’ve never been signed yo this gym yet saying it’s not them it’s another company receiving the money yet they can not provide me with contact information to said company

Staff could not have been more rude. Was really excited about joining a new gym so I asked for a tour, called first and said it would be fine. Was under the impression that someone would show me around. When I got there 2 girls at the front desk one with blonde hair other purplish looked at me no greeting whatsoever, I told them I was coming in for the tour and called earlier they said “okay” and did nothing. I walked around the gym by myself everyone staring at me and left. Was seriously considering signing up until that first experience.

I was a long time member of FX Fitness in Broadview Hts. When the gym closed down around Memorial Day our memberships were transferred to Fitworks. From day one Michael Anderson and his staff have made me feel like I was part of the Fitworks family. This gym is clean, well equipped with a very friendly staff. I’m not going to go to a one star, because I’ve just started here. I’ve just moved to the area and I chose this gym because of location, classes, etc.
It all lined up/worked for me.
However, the woman that signed me up? Could not have been less pleasant. She acted as though I was nothing more than a bother. Was incredibly distracted and even scoffed when I asked about something included with the membership. It was appalling.
I’ve never started at a new gym feeing less welcome or confident. I didn’t even get a tour of where everything was. I’m restarting my fitness journey after some health/personal issues. So I was already feeling anxious. She DEFINITELY didn’t help. Had there been anyone else there? A manager? I would have went full Karen and complained.
