My husband’s job provides a service that this Jim is on the list for yeah when I got there to sign up, no one knew that they were even signed up for the program. They set me up on a temporary membership while their management team figured out how they get paid through the insurance program that my job provides it was supposed to provide me with 24 hour access to the gym.

After a 10 hour shift, I get to the gym at around 12:30 AM and scan and I’m not able to access the gym so I called the 24 hour line that’s posted on the door and they tell me they can’t help me so I just wasted my time and my energy for nothing at this point. I’m not even interested in working out here because I feel like it’s gonna be constant issues.

This gym is really clean and well
kept. I’ve had nothing but pleasant experiences with all the staff members.
I’ve now cancelled so here are a few of the cons: 1. My kids are 6 and 4. They would come with me to the gym almost daily and we’d utilize the day care. My kids complained most days that the only toys in there were baby toys? In addition to that, the “teacher” that was there most days, often didn’t even say hello or goodbye to me when dropping off the kids/picking them up because she was always on her phone. She also didn’t play with any of the kids according to my children, for the same reason. Paying extra monthly for a teacher to sit on her phone while the kids are in daycare seems silly. 2. I had originally signed up with the basic membership and ended up upgrading to the FitPlus because I wanted to take classes. I was only a member for maybe 2 months before deciding to cancel because as much as i loved the classes… it’s not fun or motivating to workout with only elderly people. I was the youngest in every class by 20-30 years at a minimum… coaches for every class are great but the age of the class is just not it for me.

Horrible. Absolute nightmare with cancellation issue, which there is now a mark on my credit because nobody actually canceled my membership when I called in. Hadn't used this gym in 6 plus months last year. Now i'm dealing with a collection agency because nobody would get back to me. No store manager or regional manager has gotten back to me, to this day. I have called 4 times and left my information was told that it would be passed along and still no word. Obviously it's a problem. It's all over reddit and on youtube.This isn't the only gym that does it.

I’ve been a member for three years. The machines are totally outdated for the price range and my shoes were stolen from the locker, employees told me “sorry”.
The cancelation was a hustle , charged me an extra month even if I tried to reach out though phone and email. They actually had me come in physically to get it done and even if it was the 1st of the month I was told I’ll be charged the 25th for another month.
There are better gyms around guys, really.

I've had a handful of interactions with staff at Fitworks Rocky River, and they've all been great. A few months ago I needed to cancel my membership, which was a comfortable and easy experience. Recently I restarted my membership. There was a small snafu with it, but the customer care response was expedient and phenomenal. Oronde and Michael were great at helping me get everything squared away.

I don't like a crowded gym, so I go between 4 a.m. and 5 a.m. It starts to get busier around 5:30, but even then there's plenty of equipment and options to keep a good training flow going. I can't speak to busier times, but I've always been happy and comfortable with my experiences here.

This is a spacious gym that offers a great set up, an uplifting atmosphere, the most diverse crowd in Ohio, and it is the only gym in this area that offers a Cybex Pullover machine, which is very similar to Arthur Jones' Nautilus Pullover, an all time classic.

This gym has a lot of great qualities. The equipment is new and well-maintained, and the staff is generally friendly and helpful. I also appreciate the cleanliness of the facility It’s definitely kept in better condition than several other gyms I’ve been to.

That said, there are some notable drawbacks. While the gym offers a wide range of machines, the layout leaves very little space between them, making it difficult to navigate, especially during busy hours, which seem to be constant regardless of the time of day doesn’t matter if it’s 10am or 10pm it will be busy
. The cable machines in particular are awkwardly designed, with multiple stations packed so closely together that it’s nearly impossible to adjust weights without stepping into someone else’s space.

As a woman, I often feel uncomfortable here. The gender ratio is heavily skewed it feels like for everyone woman there’s 15 men. The environment can feel intimidating and unwelcoming at times. The lack of space, paired with the overwhelming crowd, makes it hard to find room to do free weights without being in someone’s way or vice versa.

Overall, while the gym has potential, it feels like it’s trying to scale beyond what the current space can handle. The overcrowding, tight layout, and uncomfortable atmosphere make it hard to have a pleasant workout experience.

You are also going to be paying an absurd amount for a gym that you can barely walk around in, wish I was exaggerating.

Really unpleasant experience.

Went to the gym twice. Then I found out my new apartment complex had a gym, so I wanted to cancel my Fitworks membership as I no longer needed it.

Went into the app - no cancel button.
Went to the website - no cancel button.
Called on the phone - can't cancel. Apparently you can only cancel in person.
So I drove all the way back to the gym.
When I walked in, the gentleman at the front desk was on his phone and made me wait until he was finished laughing at whatever was on his screen. Pretty unprofessional.
So finally I canceled, and was then told I'd be paying another monthly payment. Because apparently they require thirty days notice.

There is no good reason for any of these policies. It's a scam. They want to create as much friction as possible between you and canceling. And then take more of your money anyway, for absolutely no reason.

This gym is filthy. From the moment I started here it hasn’t gotten better. Dirt and dust everywhere, bathroom is typically missing toilet paper, hand soap or towels, the spray to wipe down the equipment is almost never filled or working. The same stains stay on the floors for weeks. I watched a piece of gum sit in a cup holder on one of their cardio machines for three months. Now they’ve installed these giant deadlifting pads (aka tripping hazards) and the entire gym is an overstuffed maze with 0 wall space to do certain work outs.

Edit and update since my prepaid membership has been over.

I signed up for a no contract membership and paid for the entire year in advance. After my year this gym has continued trying to bill me and then sent my bill to a debt collector so I now show debt when I shouldn’t. How many innocent people has fitworks done this to? Fitworks should be ashamed. I don’t recommend this gym to ANYONE.

I started a membership on 01/09 went for my first session 01/11. The place is a cesspool. Locker room is full of dried up salt (whatever I'll bring slides next time) Dumbell rack is completely out of order, I spent maybe 8 or so minutes trying to find a matching pair of Dumbells. So many of the weights on the rack didn't even have a proper home IE 8lbs, 5lbs, etc. Idk if there was an aerobics class or something that left their weights behind, however I'm not being paid to deal with it, on the contrary I'm paying to deal with it.

Lastly and the most egregious part of it all, the showers are ridden with rust scum. It's all over the place in any of the showering units.

I could get over it if the showers even pulled enough hot water to make it a shower and not a pseudo cold plunge.

I've emailed the local club and left a message with the parent company.

I've attached a picture with my membership info and address of this gym in case there is any dispute on the gym side, other people trying to find a new home gym should be aware and steer clear imo.

I'll take my review down pending a full refund of my membership fee and enrollment fee.

If I could give less NO stars I would. This place is disgusting. For a gym that prides itself on getting people in to shape the staff sure are lazy. Weights all over the place almost none above 45lbs put away in the proper place. Very few of the members whip down their equipment after use. Dumbbells missing their rubber coating. Piss all on the locker room floors. I’ll be dammed if I get a staff infection in this place. Now I know what you’re thinking. It’s not the staffs fault they have spray bottles and paper towels to wipe down the equipment. Yes that’s true but they’re useless if the staff doesn’t refill the bottles and paper towels. Everytime I see an empty spray bottle I’m going to throw it in the trash. The staff needs to step up set a good example for its members by restocking and emptying the trash before they leave for the night. Holding its members accountable as well for not wiping down after usage.

Nicely set up gym, but there is just not enough equipment for the amount of people that work out during busy times. It is impossible to find the right dumbbells let alone a bench to complete your workout. There are a total of 3 squat racks, 2 leg extension machines and 1 leg press that are guaranteed to be occupied. The last thing I want from a gym is to compromise and have to alter my workout.

Great gym overall. Lots of space, Open 24 hours. Would be 5 stars if they would turn on their AC in the summer! Wasn't as bad when the back door could stay open longer to get some fresh air, but now that they have to close it during unstaffed hours it gets so hot and muggy in there.

Was talking to some other members, and they agreed. One stated the Parma Fitworks doesn't have this problem. Please consider cranking the AC up some more this upcoming summer. 🙏

I spoke to the staff who said my membership had been cancelled. However, I was still charged with no notice at all about missed payments and they sold what I "owed" to debt collectors. I tried calling multiple times a day for days straight and nobody picked up the phone. Do not trust them unless you like being deceived and taken advantage of. They do not care about you.

I hate giving bad reviews and I will remove if this if it changes. However, I saw the response to other customers complaining about the same thing and I am afraid it won't. I joined this gym because my health insurance pays for it. The locker rooms and equiptment are always dirty. I just left the very clean YMCA for a really stinky gym. They need to hire more cleaning crew. I typically see one desk guy running around and doing everything.

I have been coming to fitworks for over 3 years and recently the Rocky River location has declined. The gym is constantly dirty, equipment is never put away and you can never find anything due to people leaving things randomly throughout the gym, you can’t wipe down equipment after use because the paper towels and cleaner are rarely refilled.
The women’s locker room is extremely dirty and the first sink in the women’s locker room has been broken for well over a year. Usually 3-4 days out of the week the women’s restroom isn’t stocked with toilet paper.
You also have men cleaning in the women’s locker room and women cleaning in the men’s locker room. I find it completely inappropriate to have males cleaning the women’s locker room especially when women are trying to shower, change, and use the restroom. It is extremely uncomfortable trying to use the restroom when you have males in there cleaning and they do not leave and give women privacy.

There have also been multiple machines that have been broken for months. These machines are ones that people use on a daily basis and zero attempts have been made to fix them.
It is very frustrating that time and effort has gone into the Fit+ room when you have had machines broken for months.

Membership fees have increased without warning members. In the past we would get an email notifying us of when we could expect an increase in membership fees but this past time there was no warning. I find this frustrating and inconsiderate to not notify members.

Playland is often closed due to staff not being present, many members rely on playland to be open so they can workout only to find once they pack up their kid(s) and drive sometimes 10-20 minutes to the gym it is closed and now they have to drive all the way back home.

It is very disappointing and frustrating to see a gym that was once wonderful place to workout now turning into a gym that most people do not want to go too anymore.

Fitworks is as unprofessional as a gym organization can be. Fitworks closed its downtown location with 3 days notice -- in between Christmas and New Years no less -- and is now making members come to one of its other locations in person in order to cancel memberships. Members were not given an opportunity to cancel their memberships amidst this closure and we were not sent any notice of this closure outside of a paper-notice being taped to the entrance door. Worse yet, Fitworks is also continuing to bill members for the month, despite closing its doors with virtually no notice of closure. Look for another gym option.

I have been going to the Rocky River Fitworks for about 3 years now and it has made a positive impact on my fitness. My workout demands alot of space and the facility is the only one in Cleveland that fits my needs without joining a pricey Crossfit gym. But being stuck in the facility with Michael and Bella is absolutely a pleasure. Michael is on top of equipment upkeep and has given me a few pointers on some exercises that have become a staple in my routine. Bella always brightens my day with her own style of professional customer care. She has guided me through some administrative tasks, nutritional shakes and fitness testing. The girl that runs the classes is also awesome at her job and has helped me zero in on a few things that tweeked my workouts( didn't catch her name.) A-1 operation when other gyms have fallen into loser status during these times. Oh..and the temperature is always adjusted perfect!

I've been working out at Fitworks for a couple of years and the staff have always been super friendly and helpful! The gym is always at a comfortable temperature and the staff are always willing to answer any questions and provide help when necessary. I recently started competing in natural bodybuilding under the direction of personal trainer Oronde. Oronde has been very helpful and has strived everyday to help motivate me and keep me on track. I've made tremendous progress and continue to make improvements everyday. Under Oronde's direction, I managed to lose 30 lbs in 13 weeks during prep for my first show. There were difficult times during prep when I wanted to cheat on my diet or give up, but Oronde kept me motivated and helped me push past my mental barriers. In the end, I managed to place four in my class and am now working to improve my weak points. Overall, I've had a fantastic experience at Fitworks and would highly recommend Oronde as a trainer!

Michael and his team saved my butt today! I lost my cell phone in the gym, it fell between one of the free weight benchs and I totally forgot I was over there earlier. They watched the security footage, followed my movements, and helped jog my memory. Huge save as I was leaving for a week vacation that day and needed my phone. It is great when people go above and beyond to help others out! Really shows the difference between this team and other gyms.

The actual gym is okay, but their terms/policies are outrageous.

As far as the contract, the only gym that's worse about nickel and diming you is Planet Fitness. For instance, this is how my cancellation process went:

1. December 6 - I called the front desk during normal business hours, the phone wasn't answered. I left a voicemail with my name and phone number.

2. December 8 - I continued to call the front desk a few times between 10:00am and 3:00pm, there wasn't any answer. My call was never returned from two days before.

3. December 9 - The phone was answered upon another call the next day, but I was told I'd have to come in-person to quit.

4. December 12 - I went in-person and was finally able to cancel. I was told my last payment date would be December 19 given the notice plus my payment cycle.

5. January 27 - I was charged a $105.85 "administrative fee." This is what I have a major issue with. I was already charged $107.89 on September 21 when I signed up in the first place. Why am I being forced to pay an administrative fee a month after I cancelled my membership?

When I went in to ask about this and ask for a refund, I was refused. The staff member told me that the fee occurs once a year, regardless if you cancelled before the end of that one-year term. When I asked to speak to a manager, I was told they were on vacation for two weeks. Apparently there is only one manager. I was told I would receive a call-back when they returned. No one called me and I let it go because I could sense it was a losing battle. This entire scenario was absolutely outrageous.

6. February 15 - I was charged $71.92 for no reason. When I called the front desk, the staff member Alex answered and was very helpful. They did refund me and said it was an accident. However, if I hadn't caught the error I doubt they would've done anything.

So, I wouldn't recommend this gym at all if you don't want to be charged left and right. Here are my detailed pros and cons:

Cons:
- The cleanliness is not up to standards.
- The paper towel dispensers, hand sanitizer machines, and cleaning spray bottles are often empty at peak times.
- The liquid cleaning solution in the bottles appear to be watered down (although I can't be sure).
- I noticed people are allowed to talk on their phone/have loud conversations, even in the studios.
- The women's sauna doesn't appear to be wiped down or cleaned underneath the benches.
- As mentioned above, the policies are unfair and the sales people who sign you up for memberships omit a lot of pertinent information.

Pros:
- I never had to wait more than a few minutes for a machine to be available.
- Even at peak times, I didn't find the gym to be overcrowded.
- Each staff I've interacted with has been pleasant and friendly.
- Many of the machines are new/updated. The different options for cardio, strength, and stretching was ideal.
- The Cardio Theater is awesome and I liked the variety of the movie selection.
- The group classes I attended were great.
- The club manager (Michael) was professional and courteous towards me.

Overall, if money isn't an issue for you and you're okay with subpar cleanliness (considering most gyms aren't as clean as they should be), you'll be fine. If you don't want to go broke trying to pay obscene fees and/or are bothered by lack of cleaning, I'd pass on getting a membership.

Update 7/12: Not sure what changed since leaving this review. But it is actually comfortable inside now. Fitworks tried to reach out once after I left the original review but they called while I was unavailable at work. If the gym is going to stay at this temp from here on out I have no more complaints about the gym. I'm bumping it up to 4 stars.

It was a nice gym in the winter months. But as soon as it got warm out the gym has been very unpleasant to workout in. It's so warm inside. For what I'm paying a month you would think they would keep it cool inside. I filled out their form on the website complaining about it and so did my girlfriend but no one got back to us.

A recent review also complained about the same thing and Fitworks responded saying they replaced the sensors or thermostats and it should be cooler inside. Well that's a lie as I haven't noticed any difference.

But they sure do keep it nice and cool for themselves at the front desk.

We have been with this gym for years. At some point after Covid general customer service went to the drain.

Their CSA are so busy "selling" that they mislead you, or omit information, so you do not know what you do not know.

We have been with this gym a total of 10-12 years, if not longer. We had a post Covid break and in 2022 paid annual promo up front: 12 months, 2 people.

Not sure, because of lack training or simply because of being forgetful, young CSA did not mention to have cancellation on file.

We had great medical paying years ago as we went, so our being longer timers, nobody bothered to explain specifics.

It was pay as you go, and that plan made alot more $$$ for them.

Fastforward 2023, we just saw several months of new charges and when we called to speak on 06.24. 2023 at 9:08 am, it was one of those "I do not give 2 cents about your problem attitude." We have a signature on file, not my problem.

Honestly, not treatment I care to get after years of loyalty abd money paid to that place.

There are plenty of gym venues around Rocky River with far better srrvice.

Pick one, who treats you better & do not ever pre-pay 12 months. It is not worth it.

The girl or boy who sell you something are likely long gone and you wake up one day to your bank account being drained.

If before you felt it was a minor issue, now it is clear understanding that you want money spent where you are not an acceptable loss.

Cleanliness is a massive issue with this gym. You walk in and are instantly met with a funky smell that only gets worse when you walk into the locker room. Paper towel and soap dispensers are consistently empty during peak times every day. All cardio equipment is covered in sweat stains. Air conditioning also seems insufficient as the thermostats around the gym consistently read 78+ degrees.

I've never in my life been to a gym where they allow you to freely talk on your cell phone in any and every area of the gym. The staff member who was in charge at the time gave another member the green light to continue having a full blown conversation on their phone when we were both sharing the private studio, which I was already using first at that.

That's fine if that's how you want to run your gym. But you certainly won't be getting any more business from me.

I went in today looking to become a member and check out the gym and amenities. I stood at the front desk for over 5 minutes waiting to be helped, and no one showed up. I left a little disappointed. I’m interested in finding a new gym with more to offer. Clearly this gym wasn’t interested. I was in during hours where there would be a person at the desk. After reading the reviews I’m glad no one came to help me. Needless to say I wont be returning to become a member.

Has some areas to improve.
Better ventilation.
Cleaner bathroom (but I have yet to find a clean gym bathroom in Cleveland.)

Still gets five stars because this place accommodates its customers and has great equipment along with a great staff.

Most importantly it’s a very good atmosphere!
So it’s gets 5 stars either because. Because if those 2 minor things don’t improve I still highly recommend this gym!

I love this place plenty of equipment and space. The bad part is the cleanliness is lacking. Dust hair and small debris all over the floor and equipment. The men’s locker room also smells funky but not as bad as the sauna it is disgusting and never gets cleaned even when they mop it they don’t clean under the benches. This place needs to hire a janitorial service. I’m also a member at Cleveland Fitness Club and they’re always cleaning there they even scrub&wipe every piece of equipment daily.

This place continues to get more and more dirty. Carpets are covered in stuff, machines have sweat stains and dust all over. It's quite bad.

Edit: having gone here 5 years ago and now coming back, this place seems to have gone downhill.

Equipment is covered in dust and the floor doesn't ever seem to get mopped. I still like the gym but it is dirty.

I have signed up for a month here. It seems like a pretty reasonable option for a gym. Staff is nice and the place is clean.
Wiping down the equipment can be annoying, as they do not provide towels and simply provide paper towel dispensers and a sanitizing spray. I would say this place is standard.
Good option for an area that doesn't have many traditional type gyms around.

Please clean your mens locker room. The consistency a dozen bugs flying around the scum coated shower stalls. Needs an actual scrub down cleaning

UPDATE: its been 3 months and nothing has been done, there still scum and flys … but now there’s a nest of little worms in the far right shower stall.

I’ve been going to fitworks for a little over a year and I went in today to work out. And when I went to change in the locker room, I look over to my left as I’m changing and I think he is one of the owners a buff black man with a prosthetic leg was hiding behind the wall recording I will never come here again.

The guy at the front with long brown hair was so incredibly nice and welcoming!!!! He was on top of his game getting me signed up, on top of making people smoothies, and appeared to be training. (A girl who was a little worrisome thin.) He gave me a tour and even asked if I was comfortable. Then when I was in the sauna he changed the paper towels, you have a great employee on board.

This place is excellent, for beginner and experienced gym goers. Locker rooms are clean, have showers and sauna, equipment is new and functions well, various classes available to take, daycare, and my favorite, they have a cardio movie theater! Friendly and helpful staff, definitely recommend! Will never go back to planet fitness or rocky river rec.

I've really loved this gym over the past month or two. Lee is a fantastic trainer, and doing the nutrition meetings with Maureen finally has me getting results after a year or two of being stuck. The group classes I've been to were also very fun.

The cleanliness and sanitary state of the men's locker room and the sauna is repulsive. I have belonged to this gym for a long time, and I don't think in my time belonging to this gym that the shower floors in the men's locker room have ever been cleaned. Along with that, the sauna is also in desperate need of a clean as well as the floors are brown and dirty from the sweaty feet of other gym goers. The gym itself, I have zero complaints about. But if you are going to hold members accountable to clean the machines and equipment after use - and also charge a yearly "maintenance fee", you would think the staff could clean up themselves.

Good gym overall, with a ton of equipment options. I appreciate the space and the open areas for free-form exercises like walking lunges and such. Nice staff and good atmosphere. Womens lockers are nice and spacious. Like, other reviewers, despite having an array of equipment options, a lot of it is pretty dated and could use some TLC and a good lubing of the adjustment pieces. I’m pretty short and it’s sometimes a pain to adjust equipment because they’re so stiff to move; some don’t move at all and that’s frustrating. I’ve also noticed that the weights on the cables are much lighter and not true to their actual weight compared to other gyms, which is a bit odd but not a big deal.

9/28 Update - Without notice, Fitworks is now open 24/5 again. Just happened to drive by at 3am and the doors were open. Called to confirm restored hours. Yes they are open over night through the week.

No longer open 24 hours. Really like this gym but now must move on do to their more restrictive hours. Management does not respond to messaging about updated hours. Disappointing, have been with this club 10 years.

I've been a member at Fitworks for over 20 years and sadly I went in today to cancel my membership as I have started a home regimen which is a better fit for me right now. The manager and staff was great in assisting me and processed the cancelation right then and there. I would definitely consider going back to fitworks in the future.

Good selection of workout equipment. They stay on top of most repairs and keep the equipment in fair shape. The place gets overwhelmingly packed between 4-6pm most days. The wifi is terrible and clearly not sufficient to handle the amount of visitors using it. On busy days the wifi will cut out and kick you offline stating that the access point is full. On slow days you might be able to stream a few songs on spotify with long periods of buffering between songs if you're lucky.

Fireworks is a large gym with plenty of weights and machines to choose from. It also has multiple rooms for cardio, yoga, hitt workouts and classes. What I don't like about it is the caged in area is usually closed off for classes so any of the weights located in that area are off limits. This gym is usually overcrowded after work so you pretty much have to jump on what you can to get some type a workout. The gym needs better area management.

From the first day i came the staff was great and the couple days i had couple personal trainers that were great and they work every muscle in the killer cage of theirs i call it u will definitely go home sore lol but its worth it they have everything here u need zumba classes yoga its nice and times are very flexible
