I played here for the first time today and I have mixed feelings about it. To start off positive, the course rates are insanely good compared to other courses, I can’t think of any course around that offers 18 holes riding for $32. The course was also in great condition as well for the price, solid fairways, solid greens, solid tee boxes (although some of them were kind of in rough shape), and overall an absolute steal for what you pay for. Although it’s a solid course with great rates, I’m rating it a 2 star due to the utter lack of course management and extremely rude staff. We got to the course 20-25 minutes before our tee time(as you should) and there was already a log jam on the 1st tee box, we found out there was no starter present to check anyone in at the first hole to space groups out evenly and we ended up waiting 20+ minutes after our tee time to tee off on hole 1. We were stuck behind extremely slow players the entire round and had to wait 5+ minutes every single shot. After the front 9, we stopped to get food/drinks at the turn and was instantly told to “hurry it up” and “keep it moving” by a very rude staff member which was ridiculous considering our circumstances that I mentioned above. Overall, great course for the price but awful/rude staff and no course management to keep players moving whatsoever, be prepared for an extremely long round that takes over 4 hours. I would’ve rated the course 5/5 but the lack of course management and rude staff really changed my opinion on the course itself.

Maintenance appeared to be running behind. Balls hit just off fairways almost impossible to find. Mower man working and gave no respect to playing golfers on the hole he just kept on mowing. Made for a noisy round.

Nice course but pace of play is so bad was making turn and 5 groups go off the back 9 also had to get a rain check to play another time and lost it and was told they can’t do nothing about it. Wouldn’t even have the problem if they didn’t send people off the back when others are making the turn.

IMHO one of the nicest public golf courses in the area. Located adjacent to the venerable Elyria Country Club but at considerably less harm to your bank account. Operated by the Lorain Country metro park system the course is kept in very good condition. Prices are reasonable, they have continuos cart paths, driving range, 2 practice putting greens, one with a chipping area and a practice bunker. Newly remodeled clubhouse with food and beverage service. Throw in a very friendly and helpful staff and what's not to like? Just did 18 on Saturday and have nothing but good news to report. The course from tee to green was in it's usual excellent condition. The greens had recently been ariated but were still playable. No one likes to putt on greens like that but it's a necessity if you want to properly maintain a golf course.

They have horrible time management and not enough carts, there were legitimately 9 carts on one hole at one point. I’ll probably still shoot course record, I’ll keep everyone posted, guy in the green shirt was very nice though.

Some areas were to high grass and lost my ball when we actually saw it land but couldn't find it for awhile. This holds other golfers up. But overall I enjoyed myself and had a great time.

This golf course has improved a lot in the last 10 years or so. It used to be a wet venue and then they did extensive tiling work around 8 years ago. The fairways were in perfect condition as were the greens and tee boxes.

The course is a very fair and playable course except for the 16th hole which has very steep uphill green after you hit your drive. You need to check the distance and the add two or three clubs to get there

I would have graded this course as 5 stars except for the rip off on the cart fee. On the weekend the posted price - see photo - is $23 to walk and $45 to ride per person. That’s $22 additional to ride. My group and I have played about 130 different courses in Ohio and Florida over the past 20 years and have never paid this exorbitant price to ride. They also have an up charge of 3.5% if you use a credit card.

This is a metro parks owned course and frankly it leaves a bad taste when a course is owned and maintained with taxpayer money with exorbitant fees and up charges.

6:14 tee time. Didn't tee off until after 6:40. We were told they were taking walk ons. Apparently they have a shotgun Thursday night. If Thursday is a league night, maybe don't take walk ons? No biggie. Didn't finish 9 due to back up. Again no biggie, but they also could have turned us away. Attepmted to complete 7 and 8 in the dark. Only played 8. Rich was very nice and we understand but you took our money and we didn't even finsh the round. The gentleman cleaning the carts told us not to come back if this was an issue. Maybe advertise that you have league Thursday night? Might help all parties avoid any frustration.

Spoke with locals in the lot that also stated they would be complaining to the head pro.

I really enjoy the actual course, fun layout and nice greens. My issue comes with over booking and the grounds team having no courtesy to the players. I have went 3 different times and each time I went my group would be setting up a shot and someone from the grounds team would just roll up on the green and would either start mowing, trying to drop dirt or leaf blowing. I understand these things need to happen, but other courses I go to do not have this problem.

Cons: Mosquitoes (I understand they cannot control the bug population, but there was a good amount of standing water in "sandtraps". It was a breading ground for them), they need to maintain the few "sandtraps" they have or remove them completely

Forest Hills is busy for a good reason. Being a public metro park course doesn't exactly make me wanna grab my clubs, but Forest Hills does. I was asked to play through by golfers that know the game of golf, pace of play. There was no attitude, just consideration for other golfers. It was really a great experience and a well managed course.

I really like the course a lot... mature... long... pretty well kept...

BUT... they should treat their local, life long tax paying seniors, much better.

I've played this course for over 20 years and I waited many, many years to be a senior so I can finally get the senior discount, and now that I'm a senior, they lowered the discount so that it's now only a $0.50 discount for their most popular package, 9 holes with a cart.

I think it's the worst senior discount in the area. (Of course they give more of a discount on the packages that seniors will hardly, if ever use, like walking the course or playing a full 18 holes.) I think that they should treat seniors a whole lot better than that.

I also think that they should give a break to Lorain County residents, as it's our taxes that are paying for the course. it seems like they're screwing the local seniors in order to give a break to be out of town golfers.

Finally, I have always said that it would be nice if they would offer a "season pass" package, but they never seem to have any interest in promoting the course in that fashion.
