My daughter has been dancing for 10 years and this is her 5th year with Funk lab and Modern Elements.
The teachers are incredible and truly inspiring. Over the years Adrianna has been in class with many of the teachers such as Kelly D, Cortney, Kelly F, Nicole, Olivia, Flash, Demarko, Bryce, Nadine, Jeanette, Mya, Layla, Nolan, Chloe, Jennifer, Richard, and they have all been incredibly supportive and amazing. They have helped Adrianna with her confidence, meet her goals and push her to goals she didn’t know she could achieve. In the center of it all is an inclusive environment where everyone including the parents feel a part of this family dynamic.
From the bottom of my heart, thank you Kelly Dailey and teachers for being the best!! We truly appreciate and see the commitment you put into the studio, the kids, families and community. Grateful Adrianna is a part of this funky family!

Updating my review of this awesome place. The staff is so exceptional. We love Cortney, Bryce, Mya, and many others. We love Funk Lab. My daughter has been dancing there and she absolutely loves it. The owner and staff there are top of the line not only on professionalism and talent, but they truly care for the students. They are truly leaders in the Hip Hop Community and I would highly recommend them to anyone wanting to learn to dance at any level!

In 2018 my son came to me and said he wanted to try Hip Hop dancing. My husband and I both had friends that their kids danced at Funk Lab, so we knew of the studio. Then I saw somewhere on FB, a free class being offered at Funk Lab in April of 2018! I got him signed up for that and he had a blast! Ms. Kelly and a handful of her students helped teach a room full! When we left, we grabbed a list of summer camps being offered, and got him signed up. Again he had a blast, this time with Miss Cortney and a few of her students. He started taking regular classes Fall of 2018 and we've been there ever since! His younger brothers have even joined in the fun! We love our Funk Family!

Funk lab is the best place ever! We have been a part of this studio for 9 years and wouldn’t change anything! All the teachers are absolutely amazing and can’t say a bad thing about any of them! But both my kids absolutely love working with Demarko. He has been such a huge dance influence for my son. His demeanor and skills are just amazing!

My daughter has been a student since 2017 at the age of 4 and is still a student today. I know that when I drop her off; she is safe, welcomed, encouraged, and loved.
There are so many teachers who have had an impact on Raegan…here are a few…
Mr Demarko challenges her physically…I hear about wall sits, planks, and push-ups to help them grow.
Ms Kelly makes sure she knows the history behind the steps and dances she is doing, so she can fully appreciate the art.
Miss Cortney has the patience of a saint and I’m pretty sure we tell Raegan to find her Cortney zen regularly. She has so much on her plate, but still takes the time to send an email telling us how proud she is of the progress and determination Raegan has in class.
Also, Miss Lydia helped last year with her classes and was a great role model for Raegan (a fellow tall girl). Thank you!
I would recommend this dance center to anyone who asks without hesitations.

My two girls have danced competitively at Funk Lab for years now and it has been the best studio! The drama you hear that happens at other studios does not happen here! The teachers are amazing, have amazing patience, push the kids to work hard, lift them up and are so supportive! Everyone competition, the teachers are there supporting their students and cheering them on, helping with costumes, helping them practice and being present! I couldn’t ask for a better studio and better teachers, who stay to teach and are consistently there year after year!

My daughter has danced at Funk Lab for four years, it has been a wonderful experience. The teachers and choreographers are all very professional and kind. You can tell that they really care about their students.
The owner has made special efforts to ensure that the studio is cleaned and sanitized after each class and I feel confident that my daughter will remain safe and healthy while taking her dance classes.
EDIT 2/14/22
I wanted to add to my review! The studio owner recently began a special needs competitive dance team, and invited my 11 year old son who has autism and who struggles with gross motor activities to join. My son LOVES Miss Cortney and his dance class is the highlight of his week! This studio is wonderfully inclusive, and I can’t speak highly enough about it!
EDIT 2/27/25
I wanted to give a shoutout to several of my kids’ teachers, who have continued to inspire them throughout their many years of dancing at Funk Lab:
Miss Cortney: a very patient and gifted teacher. She’s excellent with special needs children
Mr. Bryce: he’s also wonderful with the Performance Team (special needs dance team) and does a great job teaching in the junior advanced choreography class.
Miss Diamond: she’s such a dynamic performer and a wonderful teacher. She inspires my daughter every week.
Mr. Demarko: He does such a great job working with the various age levels in my daughter’s breaking class, as well as her core class. He has a tremendous amount of patience.
Miss Mya: she has done such an excellent job rehearsing and cleaning my daughter’s small group, and she was a wonderful private lesson teacher, albeit briefly for my daughter when she was working on learning a specific trick.

This year my daughter has several teachers and they all have helped her grow in several ways.
Mya is my daughter's solo teacher and she has done a great job teaching her to solo down and work with the music. She also did great finding/creating music that really embraced my daughter.
Diamond is my daughter's teacher for a couple classes, she is awesome at pushing the kids beyond what they think they can do. Her vision for the kids are amazing!
Cortney is my daughter's teacher another class and I love this dance. The creative dance, music and even outfit have me so excited to see this on the stage. Also watching Ms. Cortney with the little kids is amazing.
Demarko is teaching my daughter in a breaking class and does awesome with the kids. Her class has a wide range of kids from little to big and he does so well pair them up and keeping them interested. She was so excited to learn new moves.
Also another person to shout out is Bryce. He covered a class or two for my kiddo and he was able to teacher her how to flip someone. The kids trust him and you can see that when he is working with them.

We started going to the Funk Lab in 2019, and have been impressed not just with the staff, but with the community that they have created.
The owner is very understanding with the needs, skills, and abilities of each family and goes above and beyond to make sure everybody is included, because dance is for everyone!

Funk Lab has become more than just a dance studio for us; it's our dance family. Over the past six years, it has provided an environment where my son feels not only encouraged but also inspired by both the teachers and older kids. The studio's culture is truly unparalleled, fostering a sense of belonging, resilience and friendship that extends from the youngest dancers to the adults. Their dedication to building this supportive community reflects in every aspect of their teaching, making Funk Lab a second home for us all.

This studio is one of the most accepting, family-oriented, and positive places I could ever have had my daughter be involved in. Her growth as a dancer and kind little human makes me so proud everyday. If you are looking for a place where your child can grow creatively in a space that is strong & caring. This is it!

UPDATE: and there you have it, the woman calling me a liar. So lovely. Accosted multiple staff? Sending a passionate and frustrated email is not accosting anyone. The only person I spoke with on the phone was Eli, once. You tell yourself that if it makes you feel better, Kelly. I know who I am and I know the way I’ve been treated is not right.
Owner, Kelly lacks integrity and seems to have trouble treating people who have an issue with any respect or professionalism.
Thought I was taking my 4 year old to a 30 minute trial class in June 2023. Was told over the phone I still needed to sign up online, sign waivers and add a credit card. Maybe there was a misunderstanding on my part, but we went to one class and never returned. Months and months later, I find I have been charged a monthly tuition since June as well as have paid for 2 recital fees and 2 costumes. Over $500. I emailed the studio asking why we were still being charged, never heard back so I called and spoke to Eli. When he looked us up and saw there wasn’t even a costume size for my child he was extremely apologetic and told me the accountant would call me the next day with a check for a refund.
The next day, Justina emails me explaining their policy of no refunds and that they require a 7 day notice to drop classes. I emailed back a bit annoyed and again explained our situation of which she thanked me for clarifying and stated the owner, Kelly would be reaching out to me that week.
The week goes by and the following Thursday I email Justina asking when I should expect to hear back from Kelly. Shortly after, I receive a response from Justina’s email but it is a letter written and signed by Kelly. In this email she states I have opened and read 27 emails over the last 8 months (no absolutely not) and accepted terms. She stated they incurred expenses on our behalf for postage related recital info (never received by the way), that they have a large student base and it’s imperative for parents to properly notify them.
At this point I am feeling so dismissed and disrespected. Someone spent time looking at their email systems read receipts, of which she weaponized against me instead of just calling me and talking to me. I guess she believes flawed technology more than an actual human being. I email her directly and ask her to please call me. She immediately responds through email asking how she can help and that she doesn’t see an email from me asking to drop classes.
Starting to lose my mind feeling like the owner either has zero idea about our actual situation, or could care less, I write a pretty upset email back again addressing her accusations of me opening emails and how trivial mentioning the costs of postage is. I asked to be treated with some respect and dignity and to call me. I didn’t mean IMMEDIATELY but that is clearly how she took it and instead of calling me, emailed me back saying she was extremely busy and since it took me 8 months to email her so I should have some graciousness with the time it takes to get back to me. Hold onnnnn. I’ve emailed, called, talked to your accountant who said I should expect to hear from you within the week, waited, emailed again, got an email from you through your accountant. Holy cow. I am being the one that’s impatient? Yeah we are all busy, Kelly. I’m a business owner too. Issues like this should be a priority to you.
I get the policy is there to protect your business, but this is not a normal situation. A 4 year old took a 30 min class once. Maybe there was a misunderstanding on my part about what I was signing. Should I have noticed the monthly charges sooner? Sure. Does it make it right and okay for her to fight me and keep my money. Absolutely not. Sometimes as a business owner you use your discretion to decide when there is an exception to the policy….
In the end she said she stood by her policy and wouldn’t refund us tuition.
After this week long, unnecessary drama, I decided to forgo my $500+ because I was so done dealing with her self righteous, accusatory and disrespectful treatment. BEWARE.

This studio not only brings choreography that wows crowds, but it also delivers on the most caring, involved instructors. Miss Kelly, the owner, works alongside each individual student to help them grow and reach their full potential. Miss Cortney, Trenton, and all the other instructors are filled with energy and passion and talent. We love this studio, and you will, too!

Our girls have been going to Funk Lab since 2018. It is a fantastic studio that teaches the what and the why and the how. Every interaction with Kelly and other staff always leaves me wondering how they always have the nicest staff that truly cares about the kids and dance, but also the parent experience. If you are looking for a place to dance or send your kids to dance, look no further. Funk Lab is inclusive to all.

I cannot even put into words how amazing this dance studio is. Kelly, the owner, puts her heart and soul into everything she does and after family, the studio takes precedence. She is constantly striving to make both studios (Modern Elements as well) bigger and better, but maintaining her vision along the way. My son is 10 and this is his 7th (I think) year of dancing. He absolutely loves coming to dance every week and starting last year, he joined the newly formed Performance Team, which provides inclusion in competition for children of differing abilities. The studio teachers are constantly trained in different aspects of special needs and although all the teachers are wonderful, Cortney thrives with the little ones. I must also add that I've been taking the Adult Hip Hop Classes for going on 3 years now and they are always so much fun! We definitely look forward to our dance days!

Funk Lab is AMAZING! Not only do they teach all forms of dance for the kids, but they do so by teaching the history and importance of Hip Hop throughout history. My daughter has been in crew for a number of years here and we cannot recommend Funk Lab any higher. It is truly a family environment. The owners are great, the instructors are incredible and the families that you interact with help everyone with anything needed. We are #FunkLab4Life!!!

My kids have been going to Funk Lab for 2 years, and we will be starting our 3rd year in the fall. My kids LOVE going to the studio each week and learning everything that each class has to offer. The teachers are seriously the best! They are patient and kind, and they love what they do. And most importantly, they love their students! The teachers work so well with the kids of all ages, and they make each of their classes so much fun!
During the covid shut down, we were worried what would happen. Funk Lab came shining through with classes via zoom! It was something that meant so much to my kids, and it gave them some normalcy through this crazy time. The teachers worked so hard during all of this, but still found a way to may learning from home so special. When I didn't think things could get better, Funk Lab still found a way to hold a safe recital for the kids to show us what they have been working so hard on all year. It was an amazing time, with amazing people.
I recommend Funk Lab to everyone (they even have adult classes!). I am so proud that our family is a part of Funk Lab, and that my kids have a wonderful and positive environment to spend their time in. If I could give more than 5 stars, I would!

If you want to be apart of something that will accept you for who you are, then you must sign up. It’s more than just a dance studio, it’s a family. They teach their students how to be confident, love themselves, and how to create real connections.
I have been a student of the Owner (Kelly)for what seems like my entire life. Even after I have moved and grown up, she still welcomes me in with open arms every time I get the chance to visit. The teachers are better than anywhere else. Some are even former students who have grown exceptionally and now teaching the current students that dancing is for a lifetime, not just for the season. I know you can’t get much better than this studio. Their loyalty and skills will blow you away.

Great place. But, there may be a downside to the philosophy that dancing keeps kids out of trouble. I once saw a movie where everyone was singing and dancing but they also had knives and were using dance as an extension of their mob aggression. Perhaps I'm being overly concerned, but I fear that hip hop dance classes may lead me to join some sort of gang (if I get good enough). Hopefully dance gangs don't jump you in, and instead initiate you with a series of light stretches and exercises.

The signage for Funk Lab is very difficult to read with the type of font that is used. As a Google Local Guide, I had to type in the street address on Google Maps before I understood what this business offers. While branding is important, it's vital to make it easy for people to find you and discover you. I don't know if others have experienced this difficulty in understanding the signage, but I imagine I cannot be the only one. It's certainly creative, but it might be inhibiting. Quick and easy to read is best.
