I recently joined Glass City CrossFit gym and went through their one-on-one foundations course before starting regular classes. As someone with a running background, I’ve always known I should strength train, but honestly…I’ve done a poor job with it and felt intimidated not knowing where to start.
This experience completely changed that.
I worked with two different coaches throughout the foundations program, Britta and Amanda and both were outstanding. They were patient, encouraging, and really took the time to explain proper form, scaling options, and the “why” behind each movement. I never once felt judged for being new to strength training—instead, I felt supported and motivated.
The atmosphere in the gym is incredibly positive, and you can tell the community is engaged and truly invested in helping people improve. I’m genuinely excited to start attending regular classes and finally build the strength I’ve neglected as a long-distance runner.
If you’re looking for a gym with excellent coaching, a welcoming vibe, and a community that makes you feel at home from day one, this is it. Highly recommend!

The team was extremely professional upon showing me around and helping me get started. The foundation classes really helped me understand what we would be doing and the benefit. And during the first two classes, I was amazed at the camaraderie with the other members and the helpfulness of the coaches I’m really looking forward to a long relationship with this group.

This place absolutely sucks! When I went here the other day, there was sweat all over the machines and it smelled terrible! One of the workers was spotting me and dropped the weight on me. Will never go here again!

I’ve been in this gym for a week now and the people and the coaches couldn’t be nicer. Everyone has been extremely inviting and the coaches have such a depth of knowledge to utilize. The workouts are tough but in the short time I’ve been back in the CrossFit environment I have found my drive for it again. The diversity in both class times as well as class types makes this a great place to start or continue your fitness journey.

I visited Toledo for Thanksgiving and dropped in to Glass City CrossFit for two classes.
My first impression was "This place is HUGE!" This place is easily twice the size of my current CrossFit box.
It was a little intimidating walking in the first time but I found Glass City CrossFit to be a welcoming and friendly place.
Both Coach Amanda and Coach Brett were attentive as well as super helpful correcting my form when I veered off. They were great.
This is a five star facility for someone living in or passing through Toledo to get an intense workout in. I am glad I chose to come here. It was well worth the money.

There is no other community like a CrossFit community. Glass City CrossFit is so much more than a gym. This is a family! Glass City also offers a wide variety of classes that accommodates everyone's interest and ability level. At Glass City we push each other to believe in themselves, to continue to make gains, to finding ways to keep fitness fun and interesting, to keeping each other accountable, and to celebrate each other. The coaches are professional, skilled, and extremely invested in helping each person. There is no better time to finding the best version of yourself. Come join the family!!

Glass city CrossFit is amazing!! I was in town for a few days for work and decided to get a week pass here and I have to say it was the right choice!
The equipment itself is top notch!! But that’s not what makes a gym … it’s this is:
First of all I walked in the gym “off the street” and Brandon took time out of his workout to chat with me, show me around, and set me up. Which yes sure that is his job…but he did so enthusiastically which was a great premonition for how the rest of my experience here was. Every coach knew my name (even the ones I haven’t met) and introduced themselves to me over the few days I was there. They really made me feel welcomed.
The coach I interacted with the most was Doug and man was he knowledgeable! He even stayed a few minutes after the morning classes were over so I could finish my workout. THANKS DOUG! I’m telling you this was the best experience I’ve had in a gym ever!! I’ve been in a lot of gyms over the 6-7 years I’ve been working out all over the country and hands down this is the best atmosphere! Thanks for being so welcoming!
All this is to say… if you live in Toledo and don’t work out here you’re CRAZY! If you’re in town for a few days…. You have to come here!
Oh and btw it’s not only CrossFit! They have a couple strength coaches there that are awesome! Most of my experience is in strength training and I gotta say their coaches are TOP notch! I listened in and saw their routines and amazing!
I seriously can say enough good things. What they’ve cultivated here is really something special.

Glass City CrossFit is an excellent choice for anyone serious about CrossFit. The facility is well-equipped with high-quality gear, including barbells, kettlebells, and rigs. The coaches are knowledgeable, motivating, and attentive to proper form, ensuring safety during workouts. The programming is challenging yet scalable, catering to all fitness levels.
The community is one of the gym's best aspects—friendly, supportive, and welcoming to newcomers. I highly recommend GCCF for both beginners and seasoned CrossFit enthusiasts.

I've only made it through 2 weeks so far but this gym is amazing. Everyone I've met has been encouraging and open, and honestly given where I am personally starting my journey I didn't expect that. I expected to get treated as an outsider with my current level of low fitness performance in a high intensity environment. I couldn't have been more wrong in my expectations! Everything there is to do in the WOD has a scaleable version that anyone can do; in other words noone here expects you to start at the high-end performance you need to do toe-to-bar exercises. What's more is there process gives you a chance to learn the motions and where you personally are in performing them before letting you loose in the gym. So you don't have to feel lost or confused, and you never have to wonder what scaled version of that exercise you should be doing... the coaches will teach you all that before releasing you to the gym. To be perfectly honest; if I can walk in the door as a 386 pound office worker and feel comfortable, accepted, and adequately challenged but not at risk of serious injury anyone can do this. You will be sore. You may have to remind yourself its a journey a few time. But there is no reason not to let today be the day you start down this road. Great place to sweat and a great community!

Glass City CrossFit has exceeded my expectations. I am in town for just a few weeks visiting my family for the holidays. I was initially worried that I wouldn’t be able to find a place to resume my fitness routine. And then I found GCCF. Not only are they filled with amazing coaches, classes, and programming, they were very accommodating and even let me trial a class before committing to a week pass. I immediately felt a sense of community. Most importantly, they are top notch professionals dedicated to what they do. The space is amazing and clean. Not enough good things to say about them and will be coming back every time I’m in town!

I was always very intimidated by CrossFit, but I took the chance with a tour and foundations classes in September because I was tired of being out of breath after just walking up our stairs. Everyone was so welcoming, encouraging, and supportive, and it was like no other gym experience I had ever had! Two months later, I can feel myself getting stronger, I can do exercises that I couldn't do a month ago, and I love it so much that it gets me out of bed at 4:30 every morning!

I’ve belonged to several other CrossFit gyms and this is by far the best. Plenty of equipment, well-trained coaches, alternate movements for all abilities, friendly community. My favorite gym I’ve been to. This is my first time doing CrossFit, and it was the best decision I’ve made. Everyone at the gym has been nice and supportive as soon as I walked through the door. As someone that is part of the LGBT community, I would also like to say that they are very supportive and respectful of my gender identity in so many ways. My wife and I started off with the foundations class and Alex and Britta were great at teaching us the different moves. Even after foundations I was a little nervous to attend my first class but coach Blake was so nice and patient with explaining the different moves and modification options. Emily has been very encouraging and even held my wife’s hand while she tried her first box jump and she helped me the other day with wall balls. Overall it is a comfortable environment for all! My wife and I are so happy to be a part of the Glass City CrossFit Community.

I am new to Glass City. When I tell you I been watching this gym for months wanting to try it out, but nervous. I’m so glad I finally did. The hardest part is getting to the door, This gym is very clean and organized. I need that when it comes to a gym. Britta helped me sign up, she is very friendly and helpful. Brittany is the first instructor I met at a 9am class. She was very kind, patient and had no problem really helping me. I’m so proud of myself for finally buying a month membership and taking 1 day at a time, to get back doing what I love.

I am new to cross fit and have not been “in shape” since before my 8 year old was born. When I fist walked in I was so intimidated just looking at all the equipment. However, that has not been my experience. Although I am out of shape and nervous the staff and patrons have gone out of their way to make me feel welcomed. Every time I go in I am greeted with friendly faces that introduce themselves and make me feel welcomed. The program includes four foundation classes where you learn the proper CrossFit movements, one on one with an instructor. That way when you start your first class, you feel confident and can perform the exercises without injury. I am very impressed! The whole gym has the feel of a family which makes it so much easier to keep working toward my goals!

Before becoming a member of Glass City CrossFit almost two years ago, I was never really a member of a gym. I wasn’t sure what to expect. But, one thing I learned without question. Glass City CrossFit has led to results. I have lost 30 lbs and gained muscle mass at the same time. I know the cost is slightly more than the average gym. However, Glass City has an Instructor for each class to guide and push you even on those days you wish you were still on the couch. I am extremely satisfied with the decision I made almost two years ago.

I have to say that for years I kept telling myself that I would not join a crossfit gym because I would hurt myself and not be able to workout. Now I signed up for the foundational course and was not sure what to expect but Alex Z was great and very knowledgeable about proper form and stressing to work on that prior to increasing weight. This made me feel like this is a caring environment and the trainers want you to get the results but without hurting yourself. In addition, I got the opportunity to do a crossfit class and the trainer was very attentive making sure you were using proper form. Also the individuals that have been coming to the gym were also very welcoming and made me feel right at home. More over Britta reached out to me right away and answered my questions and concerns. Unfortunately, other crossfit gyms were not that supportive because they would just tell me to check on the website to get the information. In conclusion, if your looking for a good gym I would highly recommend GCCF because of their professionalism and the feeling of community.

I started CrossFit about 3 years ago on a whim invite from my sister. She started and thought it would be something I would enjoy as well, since we both grew up with high competitiveness built into our daily lives and instilled into our work ethic and mindset. One class, and aside from being sore as hell for a week straight, I was hooked. Here I am, a little over 3 years later and down 25# from where I started and as healthy and motivated as I have ever been!
A lot of people have negative things to say about CrossFit because they only go with rumors and an assumed stigma. I truly believe that GCCF has worked hard to change that mindset for every single customer walking through the door to change that stigma and welcome all will to be better.
You will immediately be embraced by a Community that is there to help each and every member out from the owners, to the coaches and right down to the person standing next to you cheering as you all embrace the suck and push your bodies to be better than you have ever experienced and achieve things that you didn't think you could. Not to mention, they have everything from starter programs to advanced programs in CrossFit, OLY, Gymnastics, Weightlifting, etc. (Also a Kids Room) and everything can be modified to suit your needs and your goals!
The gym is CLEAN...people/staff/ownership is AWESOME...the workouts are KILLER...the mindset is ATOMIC...the Community is a FORCE to be reckoned with...and the skills and confidence along with knowledge and overall health you will gain, is INVALUABLE! Go there, try it out, and BE BETTER!

Whether you are new to CF, looking to join a gym, or dropping-in Glass City Crossfit is a top notch facility that we are fortunate to have in our Toledo community. I always recommend this facility to friends who may be coming in from out of the area. I feel like there are key areas folks look at when deciding to join a box or drop-in. See below:
Space & Equipment
GCCF is one of the largest CF facilities in the Toledo area. The equipment is well taken care of and kept up to date. GCCF has bikes, rowers, ski ergs, treadmills, ropes, rings, bars, weights, 3 rigs, etc. They pay attention to the details. The space is cleaned daily and kept immaculate. There are three restrooms, two showers, and a kitchenette. There are three main workout spaces. There is also a workout space outside to utilize.
Programming
The programming is strong and competitive. The workouts programmed are intense but in a positive way. Our gym is lucky to have a strong programming staff that are complimented by former and current CF Games qualifiers. The weightlifting courses are also taught by a national champion lifter.
Community
The community is growing and the gym has doubled/tripled in size. We have many new folks which makes it even more awesome. Everyone is super helpful, kind, and supportive. They are always planning events and have great communication on our social media pages/emails, etc.
Coaching & Management
Coaching is strong and supportive. They pay extra close attention to review all movements prior to the workout, Olympic Lifting, Weight Lifting, HITE class, Gymnastic class, etc. If you are new to CF, they take care to ensure you have the core movements solidly in place so that you do not hurt yourself. Again, they pay attention to the details to ensure your safety. Coaches are skilled, knowledgeable, and certified.
Schedule/Classes/Saturday Classes
The schedule of classes is jammed packed; which makes class size manageable. You get your money worth. There is HITE, CF, Weightlifting, Olympic Lifting, and Gymnastic classes. Also, open gym. You can take multiple different classes per day. Saturday class is all about community and bring a friend! Sometimes we even have food trucks.
Cost/Drop In Rate
The cost per month varies depending on what you choose. I think the drop-in rate is $10-$15. But again with all the classes they have the money is worth it.
Kids Classes/Kids Club/Kid Friendly
They have amazing kids classes and divide it out by age range when coaching them. They also have a kids space with a tv and bean bag chairs for kids to sit at when parents are working out. They host kid events as well. It’s very family friendly. I’ve seen people have their kids interrupt their workout and/or incorporate their kid into their workout plenty of times; and coaches, athletes completely understand.
COVID Response
They have been top notch on their COVID response. They clean equipment down after each class. The floors are washed regularly. They have a spray sanitizing equipment they utilize after hours to sanitize the entire gym.
Products for Purchase
They have products to purchase there including protein bars, water, FitAid, t-shirts, and tanks.

I started back to the gym about 1.5 months ago from my quarantine break by doing a CrossFit foundations class to build up my confidence about going back to the gym. From each of my four one on ones with 2 different coaches, I knew I found a community that was supportive and perfect for me. I now call my daily gym time me “me time” and look forward to going every day, even when I know burpees are in the list! Lol. I love the HITE class for the supportive, everyone can do it environment and the CrossFit classes alway leave me feeling like I can do anything. Such a great environment and I am so happy to have found a home there for my fitness journey!

I drop into gyms all over the country and Glass City is hands down the nicest, cleanest, and friendliest gym I’ve been to. Plenty of space and equipment for either open gym or hopping into any of the classes.

If I'm ever in the area, I am coming back. This has to be one of my favorite crossfit gyms. Nothing was forgotten, the stretching, the warm up, and most important the workout. The coaches were extremely helpful during the workout as well as before and after the workout

A bit pricey (about $150/mo after taxes), but definitely a great place for crossfit. Whether you've never done it before, or you compete in the sport, GCCF is awesome. The staff and coaches are amazing, (especially Mel, the owner, love her!), and the daily group WODs will definitely whip you into shape. Would recommend to anyone, and worth the price in my opinion, as it includes unlimited classes of all types, as well as open gym. In terms of equipment, it has everything you could need, crossfit based or otherwise.

HIGHLY RECOMMEND. I visited for 3 WOD's over my week's vacation. The coaches are dedicated, very knowledgeable and motivating. I was impressed that the facility was so clean, organized and well outfitted. It is not lacking anything! For each WOD, it begins with a warmup that is WOD specific, a strength/skill session and then the actual WOD. I really enjoyed my time here and would visit again.
