A few months ago I was looking to improve my form for some of the more daunting lifts (barbell deadlifts, squats, etc) and ended up choosing HELM. Alli has been fantastic in writing programming to for me to gain confidence in these lifts while taking my injury history into account, and has been able to call out opportunities where I was able to safely lift more than I let myself believe I could, all with humor and care along the way.
My exercise of choice has mostly been hiking for years so my baseline lifting strength was quite low, but with Alli's help I've been having the time of my life lifting amounts (safely!) that I previously saw as too far off. If you need a fitness trainer in Cincinnati, here's another vote for HELM!

Alli is FANTASTIC. I have been doing in-person personal training 2x/week through HELM for multiple years now, and the growth I've experienced (both physically and mentally) has been life-enhancing.
LOCATION: Alli currently works at RTS Barbell, which is an incredible gym in Cincy - spacious, clean, friendly, and has all of the equipment you might need to succeed. You never have to wait long for a machine. And you make friends there!
TRAINING: Alli pushes you the perfect amount, and is very receptive to all of her clients - from their daily moods to their long-term goals to their physical limitations vs limiting beliefs; she knows where to push and where to give grace. Also, she is extremely knowledgable when it comes to programming workouts for clients - and she's always learning new things, too. **One thing I've really appreciated is the hands-on approach when dealing with any discomfort or pain - take, for example, knee pain happening during a squat. She'll stop and calmly ask the right questions to diagnose the problem quickly, and then: pivot to a different squat variation / move OR stop to have me do a couple of stretching / mobility exercises OR (if the pain/discomfort isn't anything of concern) push me to keep going! Her knowledge in the area of addressing specific "tweaks" / pain, as well as her knowledge of the correct form for exercises sets her in a league above. I know I'm in good hands every session and no longer feel afraid of injury.
NUTRITION: Alli also guides in other areas, like nutrition and lifestyle. She wants her clients to succeed in their own unique goals, and is very willing to be a support in those categories as well. You can start as simple as reading the provided documents/e-books Alli offers and learn simple nutrition information, or go as far as getting personalized Macros and sharing your daily food breakdowns - and Alli will engage in weekly check-ins with you (with progress photos and measurements) to keep you on track with a build, cut, or maintenance phase. Her actions prove that she is in it for the success of her clients - she really cares about her service, her business, and the friendships she cultivates through it all.
THANK YOU: I used to be unable to do a single pull-up, but I felt that I needed to have that strength. Alli created programming that, over some months, built me up to doing multiple pull-ups and even some weighted pull-ups! I'm so grateful to reach AND surpass that goal, as well as many other physical and mental goals.
Do not underestimate the power of having someone guide you in a fitness and lifestyle journey (whether in person OR online) - building muscle, working out, and being among inspiring people is the best way to succeed in lots of areas of life. And Alli is the right person to help you with whatever you want to achieve.

Alli is a fantastic, empathetic, and knowledgeable trainer. As a former athlete who has struggled with injuries and weight, Alli modifies activities to best work with my limitations, while also pushing me to become my best self. I would recommend Alli's services to anyone of all ages and abilities! If I could have given her 6 stars, I would have!

I came to Alli after a series of injuries had left me feeling discouraged about lack of progress in trainings Alli has been so helpful in taking what I was doing and pushing me to challenge myself while still listening to my concerns/preferences. You can tell Alli cares about her clients beyond the gym and is always willing to work with you on whatever is impacting training that week/month.

Alli has helped me in some invaluable ways. As a self proclaimed ‘non-gym human’ she has shown me how to accept myself in a gym setting. Beyond the gym, I am a hiker and physically active in my work as a farmer. The toll of working physically has lightened dramatically as she has assessed my lifestyle to get me more prepared for all my body does. She is seriously passionate, listening and meeting you where you are at. Thanks Alli!

I have been working with Alli for a couple years now and started with ZERO gym knowledge. She has taught me so much about strength training and fitness all in a way that applied to me and my goals. Shes patient with all of my questions and helpful in providing modifications when needed. Whether not feeling my best or dealing with an acute or chronic injury, she’s always been able to work around it to ensure I still get a great session in. She provides great encouragement and accountability as well as many resources to add to your daily lifestyle to help you reach your goals. Definitely recommend training with Alli!

I started working with Alli in early 2021. Alli’s dedication to creating an inclusive and welcoming environment for all allowed me to overcome the initial fear I had to show up each day. When she announced in 2023 that she was moving on to launch HELM, there was no question I would follow her wherever she went. My goals are at the core of each workout and lifestyle recommendation, personalized to be relevant to me. Going beyond just the physical fitness aspect, she is an amazing advocate for proper recovery including sleep, stress management, and accepting that some days are harder than others and that’s normal.
The different memberships she offers including fully remote, hybrid, and fully in-person options make personal training accessible to a wider variety by people by offering choices to fit different budgets. The monumental effort she puts in is evident in all the value clients get out of their memberships, like the video responses to weekly check ins, group Zoom calls to delve deeper into health topics, and hiking outings she organizes. I can’t speak highly enough of my experience with HELM and the community that Alli is growing. I’ve gained not only physical strength as a result of working with her, but also the confidence to recognize that I can do hard things.

Prior to working with Alli I felt very uncomfortable in a gym environment. I had very little knowledge of how to properly move my body and lift weights. Alli helped me to feel confident in myself and taught me so much! She helps you set realistic and attainable goals. She’s truly the best.

As a local physical therapist and personal trainer myself, I have met a lot of the trainers around Cincinnati. No matter where you look, you will not find someone as passionate, qualified, and dedicated as Alli. When I've seen clients of hers, I know my job will be easier because I don't have to battle uphill. I don't have to correct things she has done, and I can confidently recommend they continue training with modifications, knowing full well that Alli will understand and execute according to the plan. If all that wasn't enough, she's a joy to talk to also. Sign up to work with her without hesitation!

Until working with Alli, I had always been an active person and longtime runner, but lacked consistent strength training and have had issues with injury as a result. Working with Alli has really helped to chase new goals on several different horizons, both endurance and strength wise. Alli and I have worked on “strength for life”, meaning I don’t always have specific goals, but want to always be strong enough to do the things that come up. For me, that has looked like anything from ultra marathoning, mountaineering, consistently lifting, and being able to not have sore arms after a day of gardening. I’d recommend Alli to anyone, whether that is someone wanting to start lifting for the first time or someone trying to compete at the top end of their respective sport/lift etc.

Working with Ali and Helm Training has been a game changer. Ali genuinely takes the time to listen and create a specialized plan made for you and your goals. She’s helped me work around lower back and knee pain and I was even able to run my first 5k with Ali’s programming help. I would (and do) recommend Ali/Helm to anyone looking for a fun pressure-free training experience!
