While traveling for work, I stumbled onto this gem of a golf course-hidden in rolling hills that felt like a dream sequence. Fairways were flawless, soft underfoot but fast enough to test your swing. Tee boxes were perfect, no clumps or divots, just clean shots waiting to happen. The staff? Warmest folks you'll meet-greeted me like an old friend, even offered swing tips. That remodeled clubhouse was sleek, all stone, wood and glass, with a bar offering amazing drinks and plenty of craft beers to choose from. I couldn't resist getting an Irish Hills hat to remember this amazing experience! Five stars, pure magic.

Had an absolute blast at this course! The greens are pristine, rolling like velvet with perfect breaks for every putt. Tee boxes are immaculate, well-maintained with clear markers for all skill levels. Fairways are lush, wide but challenging, with just the right amount of bunkers to keep you honest. The newly renovated clubhouse is a stunner-modern, airy, with a cozy bar, screened in porch for drinking beer with my buddies, and great food. Staff were incredible, super friendly, knew everyone's name, and made us feel like regulars. Five stars, hands down!

I honestly dont know what to think of Irish. So price yes sure 42 is “expensive on the weekend” but 42 in comparison to almost anywhere else instead of local is very cheap even sometimes on a weekday. Staff amazing. Bartenders amazing. Now clover fairways okay. Decaying greens can be fixed moderately easily that shows a lack a lack of effort. the tee boxes… tee boxes are the easiest thing to maintain on a golf course. Now I generally have no hate my father had a membership 20 years ago and absolutely loved the course. I just don’t understand why you up rates and for what it seems to me is fire greenskeepers. A 1.5inch fairway and a 4.5-5 inch rough isnt playable for a muni especially… when ur tee boxes and half the greens have decayed like a 18 year old dog.

Worst maintained golf course been to all year poor management who wants to golf on a course that don’t keep tee boxs clean don’t make golfers fix there divots you can’t even put there because all the holes left because they can’t fix them and don’t ask for a refund because he’s a greedy owner and wont give it to you says it’s on a store credit but they will try to do that you never paid for it even when you can can show them proof that you did

Nice place, really great staff. Looking forward to playing there again soon. Nice to know that they give lessons as well. Small greens that are fair, makes your pitching clutch. Looks like fellow patrons from a league outing must not care to fix divots on greens or fairways. Spent several minutes on each hole fixing greens. I enjoyed doing it.

Horrible tee boxes, greens are chewed up , no ranger. Sprinkler heads built into the greens.

I started this review while sitting on like the 16th hole after 2.15 hours, before finishing the first 9 (back 9) and originally would have gone 0 stars If I could have.

I wish I could do half stars because this is really 1.5 cause while I didn't hate it, dislike isn't strong enough.

Tee times 8 mins apart with loud obnoxious outings including people sitting on the tee box for one of the contests talking so loud you could hear them two teeboxes over. Now I realize this isn't on the course but a ranger could have helped if they had one.

No dress code, and while im not a terrible stickler cut off denim shorts, tank tops, and sleeveless tees change your mindset on a course and how you conduct yourself. If you are dressed for your drunken family BBQ odds are that's how you're going to behave. Odds proved out today.

No rangers enforcing pace of play so the round was just sub 6 hours. At one point a tee boxes had 16 people waiting to tee off, yep 16.

Sprinkler heads cut into the center of a green, not the fringe, not first cut. Center. Of. The. Green. 8 feet from the flag. Nothing like hitting a great approach shot onto the green to watch it take a wicked kick off a sprinkler head.

Dead spots all over the fairways and back 9 greens.
As i said front 9 was a little better.

Back 9 Fairways that weren't dead were weed infested and most of them uncut. Again front 9 in slightly better conditions which is why this isnt a 1 star review.

Cart paths are enough to break your back, some massive cracks and craters.

Tee boxes were rough, like weed infested when there was grass but long and uncut.
Then in other places they looked baseball sandlot and very few were level.

Bunkers were dirt that was raked, one of my pictures shows meatball size rocks littering the trap. Cart tracks in them, again rangers would help as would setting the expectation for conduct on a course.

Parking lot is so tight it's an accident waiting to happen and of course it's Mt Vernon so everyone is driving a truck.

Save yourself the trouble. If you want to play this area play Chapel Hill or make a drive to somewhere else. Not worth the hassle.

Love the people . All ways polite, go the extra mile . I lost a tee , may sound trivial but it was a tour tee and it said Irish hills on it . I asked a ground keeper if he saw it when he was mowing the place I had tee off on .we looked all around no luck .But when I had finished my round, he came riding by with my tee in hand . Wonderful place to play golf .

Today was my first time playing at Irish Hills. Although it was as hot as Hades’ undercarriage out Hailey & Lexi did a phenomenal job at cooling us down and fuel my bestie and I up with the worlds best hot dogs and fresh icy cold bottles of refreshing Gatorade! I had a good time out on the course in this lovely Ohio heat.

I've been playing here every week and honestly, it never gets old. The course is in good shape, challenging enough to keep things interesting but still enjoyable. The staff are top notch: friendly, helpful, and they really make you feel welcome.

The people who play here are awesome, laid back, fun and always up for a good round.

We had the opportunity to host a fund raising event for a very worthy cause recently at Irish Hills and what an amazing day it was! Staff was incredibly helpful in the planning and execution of the event. Our 64 golfers remarked what an awesome day of golfing it was and how much they enjoyed the course, the fellowship between the teams and the hospitality of Ben and Bill for continuing to host this worthwhile event! The Irish Hills golf course was a blast for everyone! My wife and kids weren't too keen on golfing, but they were so happy they came. The staff was super fun and friendly to my kids when we got there. We all loved how nice the fairways, greens, and water features looked. After we finished, we got to enjoy some good food and drinks in the newly remodeled clubhouse. Everyone treated us like family. My kids already want to go back! I'm for sure going back soon with my friends. They have to play here!

I was in town from Wisconsin on a business trip and decided to sneak in a round here because it was close by—ended up being the best decision of the week. The course is in incredible shape, really fun to play, and the staff treated me like I’d been coming there for years. Irish Hills Golf Course in Mt. Vernon is a fantastic spot for a round of golf, whether you’re a seasoned player or just out for a fun day with friends. The course is well-maintained, with lush fairways and greens that are smooth and consistent. You can tell the grounds crew puts real effort into keeping it in great shape.

The layout is enjoyable and has a nice mix of open holes and more technical challenges that keep you thinking without being frustrating. There are a few elevated tee shots with beautiful views of the surrounding hills that really make the experience memorable.

Greens were in pretty good shape. Fairway grass was mowed nicely. There were no tee box markers on tee boxes. On some holes it was hard to find the tee box at all. Overall it was an okay experience but was expensive for a Tuesday. Charged me $30 senior rate and it cost me $11 for an extra rider who didn't golf at all. Kind of outrageous. If they were to lower the extra rider cost, I would go back.

Sorry, but it wasn't a good experience playing this course. The greens had recently been aerated, they had not been cut and there was a lot of dew/water on the greens even though we started our round after 10:00. Also, there was a $5 fee (20%) for using a credit card instead of cash. Ridiculous.

The greens were great, but make sure you've got water or a drink from the clubhouse before heading out as there is no drinking water in the course. Even on a packed Father's day, the pace of play was really good. I played 18 holes in 3 1/2 hours, teeing off at 3:30pm.
I'll definitely go back!

Played yesterday with my dad, but i'll give it a 3 for now just for the back 9 as an honest review alone. I haven't played this course since probably about 9 years ago when I lived in Mt. Vernon, but if the back 9 was as good as the front 9 I would have given it 5 stars. The back 9 greens were full of people leaving ball marks on every hole where as I didnt notice any on the front (maybe i just played my ball where i didnt notice but i dont know i thought the front 9 was fabulous), the 13th or 14th hole had dead grass on the green probably from fertilizer and a couples patches like that on some of the other greens on the back. But 5 stars for the staff they were really polite, and really good pace of play too. I would love to come back and play the full 18 again but unless it improves I don't see myself playing the back 9 solely for that purpose. It was almost like a completely different course. Oh another note for the front and back 9, PLEASE fill your sand traps with sand, I get it was rainy lately but paying a $90 fee for us to play and not be able to truly play out of one of the main hazards on a course was kind of a bummer for the conditions based on the price paid alone.

Nice and pictures lined holes. One great three par that you hit to the green that's rounded on all four sides. So be accurate. Friendly and efficient staff in the clubhouse, which is well stocked with merchandise. Need to come up with more than a hot dog for lunch.

Booked a 7:30 Tee Time online for 08/17 (Thursday).
Drove an hour (from CBus) to play this course. Arrived at 7AM then waited. Two of other 'regulars' arrived and waited.
The Clubhouse staff was a no show and the course worker we spoke to was a bit rude and had no clue.
We waited until 8am (30 Min past our Tee Time). The Clubhouse staff NEVER arrived. My friend and I left the course and returned home.
I have been golfing all over this state for 40+ Yrs and have NEVER seen this before.

UPDATE 09/20: Billy (Owner) followed up on my comments and on 09/20, we booked a Tee Time and was able to play. I enjoyed the course and will definitely return in the future.
The Staff was very accommodating and fellow golfers were very nice to speak with.
I was very happy the owner took time to reply and make the effort to mitigate the issue.
I found the course challenging and look forward to our next trip up there from CBus!!

The golf course was ok...tee boxes need some help. Had a guy sitting on the fringe, mowing at noon, he didn't move...a friend hit him and he lost his mind. The friend apologized and the guy said how important he was.... tossed him off the course. We were part of a 36 person scramble. They will never another dollar of mine. I just got a response from the owner. Let me be clear...no one in our group intentionally hit a ball at someone working on the golf course.

Beautiful course! Irish Hills is a family favorite for us. Not only is it an amazing place to play, but the wonderful owners also offer a youth golf camp each summer to help instill the love for golf at a young age. Bummed to hear about the individuals who were intentionally hitting the grounds crew with golf balls and even more disappointed to see they left a bad review after they were rightfully removed from the situation. (I remember my first beer.)
This is such a great family-owned business. They not only run a great course but they are so good to the community. Most golf courses can handle 250 golfers per hour. If that's busy for an entire day, then there are other problems here. How do courses in Florida, Texas, and California dress and roll greens in 100 degree droughts, but not in 90 degree heat index in Ohio? Wasn't at the course on the weekend. It was 10:30 on a Monday morning. At least pretend to look into the problem before arguing with paying customers.

Excellent golf course. Pro shop and bar was great! Rob represented old school customer service. He took care of everything we needed. It was fathers day and very hot, we came in after 9 holes and Rob served us food and drinks and let our wives cool off for 40 minutes. He gladly encouraged us to play the back 9 even though it was 6pm.

The course itself isn’t bad, especially for the price. It’s an enjoyable place to play. However, I was unfortunate to play after an outing which should have already been done. The first 8 holes took close to 3 hours and we didn’t even play hole #9, skipping it because there were 7 people from the outing playing as a group (and holding up everyone behind them). There was no one from the course monitoring them or doing anything to speed up play.

The gentleman that greeted me at sign in was so friendly it was like I played there every d a year and when I finished 18 holes of golf , he said to me by my name hope you had a good round Mike and drive safe and hope you come back. Overall course was a good place to shoot 18 holes. The price point was perfect given the location and course condition. The clubhouse was nice and well maintained. I would have liked to see more food available. Given the current climate it's understandable. There were a few greens that were patchy and the cart path could be redone in spots. But that's why the price point is spot on. I enjoyed the course it is laid out well and easy to navigate. The scenery is nice and finding wayward shots was easy. I plan on returning soon and more in the future. Thank you for a great round.

Irish Hills is a beautiful and challenging course nestled south of Mt. Vernon off of Route 13. The staff are very courteous, the fairways are well cared for and lined with old pine trees, the greens are very well maintained (and difficult), the clubhouse has been recently renovated (it is quite nice), and they have a good selection of beers on tap. 10/10 would recommend checking out Irish Hills if you are in the area.

We played at the Irish Hills Golf Club this past weekend, we were visiting from out of town. Our foursome consisted of beginner golfers and experienced golfers. It was a great course in very good shape, with a lot of open fairways so our newer golfers could stay out of trouble, yet challenging enough for the experienced golfers to enjoy. The clubhouse is great and the staff super friendly and helpful. We ended up with about an hour and a half rain delay between 9's and they were super accomodating.

We've been here twice. First time loved the course. Better than Chapel Hill, just barely. That was in the fall. Just went on Father's Day, it seemed the fairway was same length as the rough. Lost balls in the middle of the fairway. But given the situation we are all facing its understandable. Was great to get out and swing the clubs. Thank You Irish Hills!

Drove 45 minutes to this course due to lack of tee time availability. This trip however was the last one as a result of a jerk mowing the course. We watched him lecture the group in front of us, then came up to us, cussing at us to stay off the grass. He asked if we knew how to read, and that the signs said cart path only. Not only were there no signs, but the course doesn’t even have a cart path on half the holes. For a course that frequently allows Basketball shorts and cutoff shirts, you probably shouldn’t have a 70 year old ambassador harassing players about etiquette.

Traveled from Columbus to play and it is well worth the drive. Nice golf course in very good condition. Tee boxes do need better defined but under the circumstances totally understand at this time. Billy was very appreciative and Addie was very pleasant and customer oriented. A very nice experience. Will venture that way again!!!

My day started being greeted with friendly, helpful service at counter. Then a couple groups of golfers that play the course on a regular basis allowed my group to tee off ahead of them because they said they would be slow. (Very Nice) The course had a nice layout and the greens were in really nice shape. If you're looking for a golf course in this price range don't overlook Irish Hills.

Golf course was in great shape. Really enjoyed playing it. Greens were very smooth. Not the fastest I’ve played this year, but some of the best. Putts rolled very well. Overall a great golf course. Really love this course. Probably won't make a return visit. Reason being to expensive. $32/18 on a Thursday 1130 am tee time. Way to expensive for what you are getting. Trying to pay for the new clubhouse. Staff is friendly

Variety of of wooded area and open fairways. The staff is always friendly and quick to serve. The upgrades to the clubhouse are wonderful. Irish Hills is where I play the majority of golf. Highly recommended!

Was at the course july 5th. The course was not in good shape. Hard to even tell where the fairways are at. Golf carts are terrible and have no roof on them, sure was hot. The only reason i gave two star was because the greens are good and club house is nice. The nine across the road is like playing in the neighbors yard...Very very wet. By the way I drove almost 2 hours to deal with that kinda of course. Not impressed....

This golf course is a gem in Mt. Vernon, Ohio. The clubhouse is fantastic. Very clean and modern and carries every type of golf gear that I am looking for. Billy, golf pro, is very helpful and all of the staff there couldn't be friendlier. The course is in great shape....you can tell they take care of it. Great price, too--what a great value for what you get. If you're wondering if you should go there or not, GO! You won't be disappointed!

I played Irish hills the other day with two of my friends and I could not have been more pleased! The course was in tip top shape and the the staff was super friendly!
