Mike has been awesome. Very available and really good at figuring out what's working and what's not. I'm 48 years old and have been in the gym most of my life but after following the programing for the last 6-8 months I'm stronger than I've ever been. I’ve known Mike since 2019 when we were both at a different gym. Even before I became his client, I saw how consistently he supported people of all fitness levels — whether adapting workouts for pregnancy, injury, or individual goals — with a thoughtful, personalized approach. He’s a genuine, good-hearted person who truly lives what he teaches. Years ago, even when I wasn’t training with him, he offered me a quick workout plan just to help me stay on track during a transition, which meant a lot.

Earlier this year, I was going through a challenging season and knew I needed some extra structure and support, so I reached out to him for remote programming. It’s been one of the best decisions I’ve made. He’s responsive, builds my workouts quickly, and checks in regularly for feedback so he can make thoughtful adjustments. For example, he noticed I was consistently missing my fourth workout each week and proactively adjusted my plan to three longer sessions to better fit my routine and help me stay consistent — something I really appreciated.

He’s also just great to be around — encouraging, funny, and always somehow drinking the best-smelling coffee in the gym. He and his wife both train there, and you can tell health and wellness isn’t just a job for him — it’s how he lives. I’m incredibly grateful for his support and excited to keep working with him.

I’ve done weightlifting as a part of CrossFit for 3 years, but I knew my technique needed sharpening. I wanted to get stronger in these movements, and that’s when I found Mike. I learned so much in my first session with him that I was shocked. Now we’re 6 months in and he really has grown to understand me as an athlete - you can see that in how he adjusts my programming to work on weaknesses as we peel back the layers. We really attack them, which is exactly what I hoped to achieve in working with Mike. Equally, he knows what I’m capable of and never pushes to discomfort — I’ve surprised myself with heavier sets, back to back lifts, and even push ups — but none of that surprised him; that’s a good coach. Yes, there are PR wins - we’ve climbed 20lbs on my snatch(!) — but there are also gym wins (getting comfortable with new equipment) and mental wins (learning the long term mentality of weightlifting) and I’ve gained all that from him and more. This is all from meeting with him once a week, and doing a second day of his programming on my own (where he’ll review your videos, too, for coaching). Finally (yes, there’s more!), his customer service and communication is fantastic — my experience has been comfortable and expected, which is valuable in a learning (and unlearning) environment. I can’t recommend Mike enough to help you achieve your lifting goals!

I availed myself of Mike’s training months ago when I was hitting a wall at CrossFit with my power lifting. I was concerned about my form and safety. Mike drills every aspect of the lift. He will literally tell you what your toes are doing wrong (did that to me yesterday lol). His attention to detail, guidance, and consummate instruction are impeccable. I now refer to him as ‘professor’ because he’s legit deserving of an associate professorship in strength training and power lifting. As a busy MD and a mom of 5, he is accommodating as well with my harried schedule. I feel safe under his wing which is so important to me. I have trained with Mike for almost 6 months and I can not recommend him enough. Mike is incredibly attentive and responsive when it comes to tailoring your plan uniquely to your needs. I'm a 41 y/o woman who was looking for something that was not Crossfit or HIIT heavy classes, but still with that boutique gym/community feel. Mike assessed my current health and fitness levels and needs, taking into account specific fitness goals I wanted to focus on. The results I have experienced in just 4 months work with Mike have been astonishing. He has a natural ability to motivate, but also to find out quickly how to fix problems. For me it was mobility and strength. I am into CrossFit and his expertise (among many) are the Olympic lifts of which I needed a professional to help dissect my lifts and work on mobility, quite literally from ground zero.

However, if you’re looking for a personal trainer to help with general fitness and wellbeing, his programming and fitness knowledge speak for itself. The only thing you have to do is show up to the gym. All the workouts are on the app, and it’s unique for each person. The gym has all the equipment, you just need to bring yourself.

I workout daily at his gym with his other clients and I can tell you that every single one of us are NOT quitting because of the results and the culture he created. It’s very welcoming, not intimidating, and the other clients are there for support. It’s honestly fun, and the fact that other clients are on the same journey is the best part. Each plan is unique to the individual. So I work on mainly Olympic lifts, but other clients are doing cardio, or machine strength training, of barbell work, or whatever their unique program is but we all have a fitness program on our phone, follow the workouts while he is there to motivate and help and teach, and then repeat however many days a week you program allows.

My workout regimen was impacted pretty significantly in the COVID world without access to a commercial gym. I spent some time researching my options and ultimately went w/ J2Fit.

Mike has helped me:

- Design a program from scratch that is customized to my goals w/ the equipment I have at the house
- Improve my nutrition based off my goals
- Diagnose how to improve my form on certain exercises through pretty cool video coaching

I wanted to use J2Fit when I decided to get serious about my weight loss and muscle gain. I'm an online client and I have constant contact with my coach (Mike Dewar). I use the app which makes following workouts and asking questions incredibly easy. Examples of how do to the exercises are also included in the app which was super helpful for me because I hadn't done that kind training in a few years. Mike also did fantastic job of giving me at-home workout routines that I could follow in the house with minimum equipment during COVID. I've also been able to send videos that can be critiqued and help improve my form for all the different exercises I perform. Working with Mike at J2FIT is one of the best decisions I have ever made in achieving my fitness goals. Prior to working with Mike, I spent a few years lifting weights on my own. At that time, I lacked the consistency and the structure to know whether or not I was making real progress or just throwing weights around. I have been following Mike of J2FIT’s programming for years and have never felt better, stronger, and quicker than I have with his insight. He helped me prepare for a multi-day hike in Southern Utah that focused on my muscular endurance and cardiovascular health. He helped me prepare for a 55k race in Arizona where I wanted to make sure I was maintaining muscle mass throughout my running regiment.
