2021 was the year that I had all but given up on tying to lose weight. I tried all kinds of diets. Keto, low carb, Weight Watchers, restrictive diets, anti-inflammatory diets. Any fad diet out there I have given it a try. Nothing worked long term. I would lose and then I would gain. It was a never ending cycle. 2022 was when I started training with James. It took me a long time to get with it. Thought I knew what worked and didn’t. That I was different and it was just my body that we had to find what would work for me. I had past injuries that I felt held me back and PCOS that kept me from losing weight. James was patient. He as kind. And he finally helped me see that I was the actual problem. Spring of 2024 will be 2 years that I have been working with James. Both in person and online. He has helped me learn what my challenges were and how to overcome them. Today I am 50 plus pound lighter. I have another goal I want to hit by mid July. He already has a plan on how I am going to get there. I did the work but I wouldn’t be where I am today without James. I am stronger, more confident and healthier. I sleep better than I have in years and have energy to do any and everything I want. James has been my coach, my inspiration and has become my friend. I called James after putting a lot of energy into weight loss, I had already reached my goal weight but I was struggling with feeling satisfied with my fitness level. James met me where I was at, he did not have any expectations for me in the beginning, I never felt embarrassed or judged. He worked with me for around 6 months in person and I still lost over 20” combined over my arms, chest, waist and thigh measurements. I decided to switch to online training format and he made sure I was doing all the movements safely and correctly before the transition. I use everything I learned with James even now that I workout independently. He will help you achieve whatever goal you put your mind to, no matter where you’re starting from. I booked James for my 12 week training period for a triathlon in September. My big goal was to not be in constant pain after long training and run days. Since working with James I’ve been able to reduce my running pace and my pain levels have gone down significantly. James is caring and compassionate in his work. He has a multitude of experience not only just in lifting. He has allowed me to vent and cry on multiple occasions and has helped me work out the multiple anxieties that come with triathlon training. I never had a trainer before and was looking for some help in leg strength as I was training for a 100 mile ultra marathon. Although James is pretty much a gym rat and not a runner (lol), I talked with him anyways and he had some good suggestions on how to increase my muscle strength and stamina. I trained with him for several months and had great results. The best part is James just didn't work my legs in general, he targeted all the areas that were weak and needed help. That gave me the most bang for my buck as my longer runs with lots of elevation became easier over time.

I am not exaggerating when I say that working with James has changed my life. I had a consultation with James early in 2020 regarding personal training. The only availability he had at the time was 6:30 AM. Historically, I have always worked out after work between 5 and 7 PM, and that was my preference. However, I needed direction to ensure I was doing things correctly so I thought I could do 6:30 AM for a short period of time until I learned enough to exercise on my own. Although the pandemic interrupted our sessions for a bit, I started back as soon as the gyms were reopened, as the benefits I had gained from working with James were already obvious. He has been great to work with; he pushes me to improve and keeps me on track. I never believed what I’ve heard many, many times, that exercise in the AM is a great way to start your day. Over the last months, I have opted to get up and exercise before work even on the days I am not scheduled to train with James, whether that is walking a mile in my neighborhood or if the weather doesn’t permit, then going to the gym and doing the treadmill. I feel more energized throughout the day when I have met with James or exercised on my own...and he had told me at that first meeting I might be surprised at how I'd feel starting my day with exercise and he was right! I highly recommend James as a personal trainer after working with him this year.

I have always been super confident in myself, but somewhat (or very) lacking in athletic ability and coordination, and was not looking forward to putting myself out there and doing this - but wanted to feel healthier. I love to play in a men’s basketball league but as I got older, I had trouble keeping up with the younger guys. My wife was a client of James about a year before I started and noticed the life changes she had from her physique, eating habits, energy, and stronger mental health. I took a shot myself and it was the best decision I’ve made in years! I started mid April and by mid June I went from 204lbs down to 187lbs. The best decision I ever made was deciding to work with James. From just sitting at my desk all day to not getting any physical activity to now working with James 3 times a wk. About 5 months ago I was referred by a friend to contact James to help me prep for my first bikini competition. I thought, at first, I could do it myself but it would be nice to have someone keep me reliable and on track with my diet, since food would be my number one trigger.

James Anderson is more then my coach. He is a true friend and inspiration. I started with James in April of 2018. I explained the goals I had for myself. He developed a meal plan and workout for me. He also gave me instructions on exercises that I could do at home. I actually exceeded those initial goals. I have lost over 50 lbs since James became my coach. People ask me all the time why I don't do it myself now that I know what I have to do. I always tell them that if it's not broke then don't fix it!
