I’ve been an LA fitness member for 20 years. I also go to bodybuilding gyms but have kept an LA membership too for the amenities — mainly, childcare and the sauna.

Cons first:

This location offers no childcare. And with Oakley closing, that means that NO local LA has childcare which is insanely frustrating.

The comments about the humidity/temperature control problems are accurate. In the summer, they over corrected and it was actually too cold, to the point where I had to wear sweats to even lift. Also — I am highly allergic to mold and my nose runs anywhere there is a mold issue. At this LA, I have no problems in the cardio/machine area, but my nose runs like crazy by the dumbbells and the back lifting room with rogue equipment so I have to keep tissues on me 24/7, which is very annoying.

The hacks and chest supported rows are subpar, also missing a low row, reverse squat, pendulum/swing squat and v squat, to name a few.

Parking is also an issue during busy times.

Pros:
Hip thrusts GALORE — I think 8 in total
Spacious sauna
Tons of cardio machines, stair climbers are excellent
The dumbbells have 2.5lb increases until 57.5 which is AWESOME and something a lot of other local gyms lack
Have two of every weight in the dumbbell area
Classic LA turf area
Lots of cables and benches
5 smith machines
Rogue Equipment

I’m hoping they add childcare soon — if they do, I’ll adjust my review to reflect that. For now, I am exploring other options with childcare and going to cancel my membership if I find a more attractive option.

This location used to be great, however this year their AC was broke all summer and then they recently closed the Oakley location and sent all of their members here. There is hardly ever enough parking and the gym is now over crowded. The ownership clearly doesn’t care about member experience.

BE AWARE THE AC STILL DOESNT WORK AT THIS LOCATION! It didn’t work when they closed as Esporta and it still doesn’t work since reopened as LA fitness . It’s so uncomfortable (hot and humid) to workout in there and it’s barely spring. Once the hot weather sets in it will be unbearable! If you ask anyone that works there about it they have no answers. It’s not right that they are selling new memberships without disclosing this information and no plans for getting this fixed!

Update: AC STILL NEVER FIXED! Likely never will be because now we are heading into winter and on top of that due to the Oakley location closing this place is so ridiculously OVERCROWDED! I mean you can’t even find a place to park! When you finally do park plan on waiting for EVERY machine or bench you want to use! I hate the fact that there are no decent gyms near this area! So frustrating!!!

I recently started going to this location after the one in Oakley closed. I like the fact that it has 10 squat/deadlift racks. However, it would be nice if there would be one more incline bench, and a basketball court. For basketball court and pool, the amenities we had in Oakley, I guess one has to drive all the way down to Crescent Springs. However, for a basic weights workout the LAF Kenwood is really good.

This LA fitness is really nice. Moved over here after they shut down the Marburg location. Dedicated weight room. New booty builder and hoist equipment. Alot of random floor space to do individual workouts or stetching. And Pilates reformer for a $$ obviously. But nice option.

The Montgomery Rd. location is the opposite of all the 1 and 2 star reviews I've read. There was infact an AC issue at one time, due to a part taking a long time arriving. That's because the part came from over seas. That issue has been resolved. The gym is clean, as well as it's equipment. The equipment is updated. However, the treadmills could stand improvement. There's a set 30 minute time limit with no way to increase it. There's no way to control the time at all. Other than that, no complaints. A foreseeable issue would be the need for more Urinal and Stall units due to the recent increase in membership from another nearby location permanently closing. Hence I'm an Architect and I know this can be accomplished. Just have to wait and see, I guess.

Don't join this gym. Refused partial refund after oakley location closed doors and location they transferred us to was 30 minutes away and doesn't offer kids corner. Specifically said they don't refund for inconvenience. I used the gym to help manage crohn's and my spouse used it for physical therapy needs. Beyond me that they refused to refund 5 months that can't be used due to these things. Not just an inconvenience, not reasonable to use at all anymore. I will never use this gym again. They're crooks.

I have been coming to the Esporta/LA Fitnesses for quite some time. I have always know them to close around 10/11 depending on location. I went to this one today to find out they close at 9. I just need to do barbells (bench press) and then I would’ve gladly took my ass to Planet Fitness. The front desk woman locked the front doors so we couldn’t enter at 8:30PM. And she SAW AND HEARD us trying to open the door and still refused to let us in even though they don’t close until 9PM. This is a tragedy. What the hell am I even paying almost $30 a month if I’m so limited on the availability of the gym???? Like I get it but also I pay $30 a month. You should NOT be locking doors EARLY!

Best LA FITNESS in the area. I used to go to the one up north past west chester but this one's closer. They always have welcoming and helpful staff and machines are always good to use. The atmosphere is great with a sauna for afterworkout. Busy times normally around 4 but anytime before that its pretty good. Busy time here is normal time for the one north of west chester. Great location if you like to squat and stare in to the walls or crack between mirrors. Looks like contractors installed equipment incorrectly and it ruined the whole design. Just look at the pictures. Also there is no pool or hot tub. Not a single paper towel even in the lockerrooms. Disappointed but it is what it is.

I pulled my back so bad on this basketball court that I can barely walk and there is a shooting pain down my left leg. This court needs to be refinished. Not Dust mopped, refinished. This court has been slippery like an ice rink for literally like 13 years. I saw a man slip and tear his acl a few years back and had to leave in an ambulance. I want to play ball here because it is close to my house but I’m tired of watching people get hurt due to negligence.

Gym has reopened, been completely remodeled. Nice and clean still. My issue is with the equipment selection LA put in the crappy Hoist and Matrix equipment. No Hammer Strength or Life Fitness. There are nice platforms unlike the other locations though. I just hope this relieves Oakley location.

I go to this location almost daily and it’s horrible. The machines are down or out service.... not due to covid. No one is at the front desk to check people in, I think I’ve been forced to give my number twice in the first month. Which makes me think why do I pay when I just can walk in for free. I already want to cancel my membership and join a different gym or pick a new location to go to.

Very disappointed. Each time you show up more of the cardio equipment is broken. Worn and ripped surfaces on treadmills are a hazard. Try to find a monitor that works! Staff has no idea what management is doing to fix the problems. Also see that they are trying to keep facility cleaner but place is pretty filthy and staff are more concerned about being on their phones and ignoring members than being proactive and cleaning. Place has lots of potential but lots of turnover and no one paying attention to the details make LA Fitness in Kenwood a poor choice when you have better and less expensive options in area.

Who ever is managing this place is failing. I attempted to do a cardio session on the treadmill machines and at least 8 of the machines I tried to workout on failed. I work out at several la fitness in the cincinnati area. This one is the absolute worst. Management needs to have more awareness of the equipment that is failing. Replace it or fix it. Tell your employees to get off their phones at check in and maybe go test equipment and take inventory of everything that is broken. This place is a joke. With the equipment in the state that it’s in, how do you attract new members ? Fix your equipment. A gym needs to have working equipment in order for your current members to find value in their membership. Since this is the closest one to me, I’ll be canceling my membership and joining Crunch.

I have had a good experience with this gym. It is clean, never had any bad experiences with other members or staff, not many issues with equipment availability, especially the cardio machines. The classes I have taken have been good (I have not taken many) and having an indoor pool is nice.

I have not had any sessions with the trainers yet. The only thing I might like to see is the shower area upgraded.

If you havent joined yet I would recommend joining CRUNCH FITNESS instead of this place. LA. FITNESS clearly has put little if any money at all into this place and all the other gyms that used to be URBAN ACTIVE. It's the same old equipment no upgrades at all to anything including the showers lockers nothing has been done to beautify the place. Plus the place doesnt stay open 24 hours and this is 2019 come on. If CRUNCH FITNESS ever decided to get a basketball court they'd run this place outta business.

Today I visited this location, because I had a meeting in the area. I usually go to the Oakley location, so I was a little unsure about this gym. I am partially blind in both eyes this amazing place has been excellent in assisting me in whatever I need! The staff is very loving and professional and very sensitive in dealing with my disability! I have been working out at LA fitness for three years! My son who is a minor joined the Kenwood LA Fitness in December 2017 for one month trial period. Initially the person who signed up my son wanted me to authorize the LA Fitness to charge my credit card every month automatically but my son and I made it very clear to him that at this point we only want a monthly contract and as a result I did not authorize them to charge my credit card other than for the initial charges. I just found out that the LA Fitness has charged my credit card for two months in a row without my knowledge &/or authorization. Therefore, I contacted the facility disputing the charges. First of all they are blaming their former employee for it and are telling me that since that person is no longer working there they cannot do anything about it. Secondly, they are claiming that my son's contract is a 6 month contract and not a monthly one. My advice to the members and future customers is to watch out for the crooks at that facility.

Clean, friendly environment filled with a welcoming and helpful staff! The sales team, especially the manager, Aspen, was extremely helpful when I was choosing my membership. I didn’t feel pressured or rushed even though I had a lot of questions. Happy with my decision to join Kenwood LA Fitness!

Amazing facility. Staff is always super friendly and welcoming. Everything is CLEAN and taken care of. Would 10/10 recommend joining this gym over any other! Both the OM and GM are very helpful women who never make me feel uncomfortable! Love this gym!
