I purchased a membership here at the Oakley branch in the beginning of September 2025 specifically and solely based on the swimming pool. As of September 19th, the pool was closed. I was told it would be up in a few days. On September 23rd, found out they were closing the WHOLE facility! I was tricked into a sale and also unable for a refund! This is HORRIBLE in so many ways!! This company is a joke, scam, not concerned about their patrons and should be prosecuted. Im sure I wasnt the only one! Never again!

I’m looking for a water aerobic class to sign up for. Checked out LA Fitness website and was delighted that they had a guess pass option before purchasing membership. Matt the manager called to confirm my arrival to check in with him. When we arrived, the guy (unbeknownst to me was Matt) ask for my ID. I had to run back to my car to retrieve it. Once back inside, Matt proceeds to snatch my ID out of my hand. I address it once class was over when I’m asking to speak with a manager. He, Matt, stated he was the manager. I asked him if he thought it was okay to snatch my ID. He then stated he didn’t realize he snatch my ID in front of his staff. I’ve decided to take my business elsewhere. I was really looking forward for Ms. Elaine to work me out.

Just switch from Planet Fitness and already debating going back. The gym is filthy. The bathroom smells like stale urine, mold in the showers, I’ve never seen an employee leave the front desk let alone clean anything. It’s not worth what you’re paying for.

Update: few months later and it’s still disgusting. I talk to the front desk weekly and things needed cleaned and nothing is being done. I complained today about toilet paper all over the floor and literal shit on toilet seats. They sent someone in to clean them. And this is what I found AFTER it was cleaned

I really enjoy this gym. I’ve been to a few gyms throughout the cincinnati area and i’ve seen run down, falling apart gyms. Yes this gym is older, sometimes have wet wipes left or water bottles left at areas but it’s just unfortunately from the popularity and forgetful people. Front desk staffing is always sweet and greet and say goodbyes. Sauna is always working. Last year sauna seats broke and it was fixed in less than two days. Bathrooms everywhere are gross, i feel like esporta’s aren’t even THAT BAD, especially on low staffing nights or days. First gym i don’t feel uncomfortable walking to my car at night! :)

I used to go here years ago when it was LA fitness and I recently had to rejoin because this was the only gym nearby with childcare. I do love the gym and all the amenities, but it’s very rundown and it’s becoming very trashy like it’s so much trash coming into the building. It’s always maintenance people walking around but there’s trash everywhere like I’m here at 9:45 AM there shouldn’t be trash in the sauna like this . Garbage cans in the bathroom over flowing . I’m salty 4 real with all the upfront money I had to pay

The toilets are 3rd world. Locker room is filthy. Sauna smells and usually has at least 1 broken bench. It only continues to get worse.

If you’re going to work out here, go in the morning or early afternoon. Past that point the bathrooms are so disgusting they’ll turn your stomach. The locker rooms never have soap or paper towels and always stink. The evening staff basically just sits at the desk on their phones, nobody tidies up or restocks the wipes for the equipment.

I’m glad I got a membership when it was dirt cheap, and the equipment is OKAY (basically what you’d expect from a generic gym). But if you don’t already have a membership at this point just go to a gym that isn’t actively sabotaging your workout.

I have been going to Esporta formally known as LA Fitness since February 2024. I Love that they have a Full size Swimming pool, plenty of showers & a very Big women's Locker Room area. The only issue I have is the lack of Hours of the Child Care center. There isn't any child care after 11am thru 5pm???

I just moved from the Chicago area to Downtown Cincy and I was looking for a local LA fitness. I love this gym! The atmosphere is great. You look around and it seems everyone but me is in shape haha. The trainers look like actual trainers (#beastmode), the front desk always greets me upon arrival/says goodbye when I leave, and I can always find the machines or weights that I need. The esporta gym in the Oakley suburb of Cincinnati has a new temporary banner hanging outside that says LA fitness. Several of the members were discussing why this is. What's going on?!

I don't have any access to inside information, but based on a web search and some online chats, here's my theory.

LA fitness and Esporta are both gyms owned by the same private company called Fitness International. The only gym that the private owners of fitness international owned in 2020 was the relatively swanky and upscale chain called LA fitness. They thought maybe they could increase profits by creating a down market, cheaper option, which they named Esporta.

The owners/investors thought they may be able to increase their profits by charging less per customer, and thereby getting more customers, and making up the difference on increased customers and reduced services such as reduced gym staff and reduce cleaning and maintenance.

In my experience, Esporta gyms tend to be overcrowded, fairly dirty, and poorly maintained. There is limited staff around to ask for help and no staff assigned to organizing the gym by putting misplaced weights and equipment back where they belong. Just try to find one of the 15 lb dumbbells or one of the 4-ft long black rollers. They could be literally anywhere in the gym from the locker room, to the sauna, to the upstairs cardio area. And most of the drinking fountains barely shoot water up. It doesn't seem like there are any staff assigned to maintaining quality. I assumed this was their business plan. Make more money by reducing costs and increasing paying customers.

But given the new banner, which appears to indicate they are going back to the LA Fitness name, I am surmising that this lower scale Esporta brand option has not been as profitable as expected compared to the more upscale LA fitness brand, so the private investors are switching some of the esporta gyms back to more upscale LA fitness gyms.

I would expect prices to rise shortly, and hopefully there will be an accompanying improvement in service, maintenance, and quality.

Just my theory. I could be totally wrong. Leave a comment if you have any inside information or any other thoughts.

By far this is the only premium LA fitness left in southwest Ohio. Although 99% of equipments are the old models, at least it is spacious clean and you can find all devices you need. Due to its proxy of location, please be expecting endlessly strong marijuana smoking smells around particular people inside club all time.

It's a good news and bad news type of scenario. Fortunately, the pluses may outweigh the negatives. It's a national low priced fitness brand. There are at least four gyms between Cincinnati and downtown Dayton, so it's extremely accessible. Many of them have a swimming pool, whirlpool, and a sauna. They are typically quite spacious and they did a major rebranding with an emphasis on personal training. So, what's not to like? It's not all great equipment. Some of it is outdated and much of it is broken. The places are sometimes a bit overrun and kind of dirty inside the locker rooms. It's still a positive place but it only takes a handful of bad apples to drag the energy down. Personally, I'd be happy to pay an additional 10-20 percent in order to have a better all around experience.

I wanted to join this gym becsuse of the sauna and the guest pass. I purchased the membership with Adam with the guest pass but I wasn't told upfront that I physically had to be in the building with my guest to use the guest pass and that to me was misleading. I feel like its all a money game and get whatever info you get later on.
Also Taylor that answers the phone is very rude, doesn't provide good customer service and told me there was no supervisor or manager I could speak with and told me "bye" mid sentence and I wasn't finished talking. I'm considering getting a refund since im within my 3 days and going to another gym. Just money hungry and rude front desk staff.

I regret not signing up sooner! I expected a generic chain gym, but this place is legit. There are multiple squat racks, bench presses, and plenty of cardio equipment. I initially joined to recover from a running injury and found everything I needed. My favorite area is the functional fitness space at the entrance, perfect for battle ropes, tire flips, box jumps, and sled work. I come early, and the people are focused and friendly. It's the ideal gym and community for serious fitness enthusiasts, without being intimidating. Highly recommend!

I have been coming here for almost 2 years. At first I used to come as a guest and everything was perfect but when I got my own membership they did something wrong so they were charging me as if I had 2 guests privileges but I could NOT invite anyone… I asked 2 managers to change this and they said they couldn’t do anything about it and that I needed to cancel my account and sign up again (so pay the annual fee again) and I said that doesn’t make sense because it was their mistake so I decided not to cancel my membership yet (this was about 2-3 weeks ago and since then I was able to use my membership 5-6 days a week as usual). Today I came to Esporta and they told me they cancelled my membership yesterday because I wanted guest privileges!???? I said well what now and why now because I never said to do that and the lady said “Well, you must have because we don’t cancel them just because…” so they were charging me extra without the guests privileges, then they were not able to add my guests privileges and now they just canceled my membership without even calling me and I have to pay the annual fee again???? I am honestly really pissed right now.

It’s ok. The staff don’t really do anything but sit on their phones at the desks. I’ve never been to a gym where the staff doesn’t periodically walk around and rack weights left out by douches. Forget reliable equipment, they don’t have but two sets of the most frequently used dumbbells in any gym, dumbbells are falling apart, equipment is dated and not built for human physiology. All in all, it’s not that great of a gym. I’ve come back to add photos, as believe it or not, they’ve somehow gotten even worse at running this gym. I’ve never seen a gym so poorly managed or cared for, our gyms in Afghanistan were cared for better than here. Weights thrown around and never picked back up, trash sits on the floor for days, the picture of a towel represents the 5th day that nasty towel was just left in the main weight room. Dumbbells are falling apart, some of the plates are actually cracked in the rings (very dangerous), some of the handles have come lose in the heavier dumbbells (lawsuit waiting to happen). This place is surprisingly bad. They may clean up once a day before they close and definitely don’t on the weekends. Truly terrible business.

I recently visited and have had an exceptional experience thus far. The atmosphere is motivating, the equipment is top-notch, and the staff goes above and beyond to ensure a positive workout environment. One standout member of the team is Austin Myers, the Personal Training Director. Austin's friendly and approachable demeanor makes every session enjoyable. I don't understand how you take out an annual fee, without informing the customer, and 14 days before your monthly fee is due. I have called Oakley location twice trying to speak with someone and was told a manager would call me back. It's has been over a week since last call and no one has called me back. Horrible customer service.

My membership costs me nothing through my health insurance and that's still too much. Feel like I'm going to catch gangrene from the locker room. Hot tub seems to be indefinitely broken. I call every few days to see if the hot tub is working but nobody answers the phone. They call themselves a "premium" club. Lmfao

Does it have all the weight and cardio equipment you need? Yes. Do they have any janitorial staff? No. It is probably the dirtiest gym I have been too. Trash everywhere. Bathrooms are disgusting. Water fountain looks like it is covered in mold/dirt. I will not renew my membership unless sanitary standards are raised.

I am a member and have been for two years. The women’s dressing room, showers, and toilets need more attention than they currently are getting. Pool room temperature is cool because the room heater is broken and has been for about a month.

Reading some of the reviews a month ago, I was a bit concerned that it wouldn't be a good experience but it's cheaper than other gyms & is close to me. Cheap in terms of value worth for the amenities that it has. Feel free to go to their website to see what amenities are offered as each location varies but roughly the same.

As for the gym, it's pretty clean. Reading the reviews a month ago & before, there were lots of negatives, being dirty restrooms, lockers, gym equipment, sanitation to wipe down. I'm here to say whether it has turned for the better recently. I joined the beginning of September 2023, it looks like an LA fitness granted it was before but renamed & owned by LA fitness.
Anyways, it's clean whenever I go in at 5am, front personnel are welcoming, locker rooms are clean & plenty of lockers. Restrooms are cleaned as well, as for wiping down the equipment, they have more sanitary stands. The wipes so no longer bottle with a rag.

There's a physical therapy place inside, a pool, cardio machines on the top floor, lots of free weights, dumbbells, machines for each body part, a basketball court, a pool, 4 rooms for handball ? , stretching area towards the front with fake grass. Great experience for me, user interface is all on their app. Glad I made the right choice & hope it stays the same or gets better from here.

Weight machines are not in the best condition, with several in a series often out for repairs. Vending machines don't work. Frequently too busy to get any real lifts done in a reasonable time. The rudest people of any gym I have been to. You are better off saving money and working out at home, or going to a different gym.

This place is great I love getting greeted by the manager Nicki everyday. She always has a nice smile on her face and makes me feel welcome. As for signing up for my membership I signed up with Neosha and I was very nervous to join a gym but she made me feel super comfortable with the whole process.

I have been to many other ESPORTA gyms, and, let me tell you, this one is by far superior. Not only is the environment a better one; the gym is clean, well equipped, and full of a friendly staff. I usually do not write reviews but after many annoying lifts at other ESPORTAs and other gyms, this Oakley ESPORTA deserves the recognition. Y’all are killing it and I appreciate you all. I have had a very great experience going to this gym. I've been a member for years now and it's always been tough finding a gym that is clean, friendly and a safe environment for women. The manager Nicki has always helped me out for any issues I have. I always see her making sure all the members are okay & I truly can see that this gym would fall apart with her. I would recommend this gym to any locals!

This is my 3rd year being here. Within the last few months the Oakley location has did 100% turn around. The staff has changed. The front desk greets me every time I come in. The fun friendly and nice environment. I love it here. I was a member at 2 other gym in the area. Esporta has so much to offer from sauna to hot tub and a variety of classes. I also love it has a variety of machines. I will no go to any other place. My heart ❤️ belongs to Oakley forever!

The customer service here at Oakley was outstanding. From the front desk staff, the sales staff to the personal trainer I signed up with. I would highly recommend this facility to everyone. It's fun and exciting. I look forward to going after a stressful day at work. This place is a great stress reliever.

5 stars only for Richard, who took the time in less than 24 hours to cancel my membership so that I was not getting charged over and over. Had the membership since Nov 2022 and used it once. Not a friendly facility. Most of the guys who work there are very aloof and in love with themselves. The whole place is a turn-off. Richard's respectful service was the only good thing out of that place.

Really enjoy the variety this gym has to offer. It’s very clean and the equipment is up to date. I love working out here, but also enjoy getting some laps in at the pool, sitting in the sauna, and playing some racquetball to work on cardio. The staff is super friendly and always greets you with a smile when you come in and when you’re leaving. Highly recommend
