The only reason I go here is because it’s convenient.

Starting with staff, there are more employees that are unpleasant and stoic than kind and inviting. One time an employee came to me and accused me of leaving a couple towels and a spray bottle next to a machine and it definitely wasn’t me.

Equipment and facilities , some machines are down for weeks to months at a time. Sometimes the wipes to clean the machines are empty, the ceiling leaks a lot and there are just giant trash cans below it to keep the ground clean.I never use the locker rooms here because of the lack of cleanliness. A little less than half the dumbbells are rusty or destroyed and usually some are left underneath the rack.

The people that go here are ok for the most part. I like to go before 2 to avoid the crowd that comes after 5. People leave their weights on machines and barely clean up after themselves, not everyone but enough for me to write this review.

İt WAS a good place.
But now... I don't know what happened there. Swimming pool is cold. Fitness room is EXTREMELY COLD !!! - is this room for keeping meat ? You can easily got a cold there, I did myself.
I complained many times but nothing changes. They always answer " We gonna fix it this week".
The worst LA fitness location ever .
I just drive 4 miles more and go to Polaris gym.
3 stars only for very friendly helpful receptionist girl there. She works there for years.

My only problem with LA Fitness in Worthington, OH is there are too many people sitting around in the parking lot in their auto and not in the gym. What’s their purpose? Otherwise an excellent gym … has many of the 80-90’s accoutrements, such as indoor track for walking and running, “boxers’ development area and more.

It's seemingly now one of the most popular La Fitness branches in Columbus. Expect it to be VERY crowded in the evening.

There was a drive by shooting in the middle of the night a couple years ago*

Staff change is frequent. Some are professional.
The dance and fitness instructors are superb! Lots of fun. I love Zumba. ❤️
Most equipment is same throughout and occasionally break down due to high usage. Come early if you want more space and equipment. Before 5pm.
They offer swimming sessions too.

The social environment is good overall
There is a small women's section but limited options of course.
After over a year, I've observed that most people are focused on their fitness and have decency.

I've reported 1 person who got in my personal space(inches close).
A different older guy followed me for MONTHS despite me showing no interest. I think he gets it now. I would only visit a couple times a month because of it.
I've never had issues with young men being creepy.
Staff can be short-handed at times, but they are usually helpful. It's sad that some few ruin it for the rest but again it really depends on the time you go.

I do not recommend this gym. The location feels unsafe and poorly maintained. My vehicle was broken into in broad daylight along with three others, on the same day. Shockingly, no staff members called the police — another member had to do so. There have also been incidents of theft inside the locker rooms, including stolen keys and personal items. (Nothing has been done to help or prevent)
The facility itself is in bad shape, the gym often smells, there's no working AC, and many of the machines are out of order for weeks at a time.
While it does have a lot of equipment, only a handful are usable at any given time.
Staff professionalism is also lacking. On one occasion, the lights were turned off in the women's locker room while people (including me and my friend) were still inside. Closing time is handled very aggressively, with staff yelling rather than politely notifying members.
Overall, the environment is unsafe, uncomfortable, and not worth the risk.
I will not be coming back, nor recommend this place

I am canceling my membership with LA Fitness. On Saturday, September 27, 2025, at approximately 10:00 a.m., multiple vehicles belonging to paying members were broken into in broad daylight in your parking lot. This was not the work of a single individual—there were at least six thieves involved, and numerous cars were targeted.

Even more alarming, several members reported that their keys had been stolen directly from the lockers inside the gym, leading us to believe this crime may have involved someone with access to the facility. If true, this is an outrageous breach of trust and safety within your establishment.

It is unacceptable that such a major incident occurred on your premises without any action from your staff. When asked if the police had been contacted, the associate on duty deliberately ignored the question and eventually responded with, “Oh no, but you can if you want.” That level of negligence is shocking and unprofessional. Members should never be left to fend for themselves in a situation of this magnitude, especially when it occurs on your property.

This incident, coupled with the complete lack of urgency, accountability, and concern from your staff, is disgraceful. I joined LA Fitness under the impression that your facilities were a higher standard. This experience has proven otherwise.

I will no longer support an establishment that fails so completely to protect its customers and then refuses to take even the most basic responsibility when something goes wrong.

When you read the reviews you'll notice the staff only responds to positive ones. Never says "we fixed that or, that will be addressed by x date, or oh sorry how can we improve."
Half the machines have missing buttons or don't work. The pool is always full there's no way to reserve a lane. The number of towel machines to clean off the equipment are sparse. I've never seen a person wipe a machine off when done.

Friendly staff seems to be a hallmark of this company. Had the pleasure of getting a personal fitness plan from Derek a fitness coach on staff. Derek shared with me how even at nearly 70 years old there are exercises that will increase my stamina, strength, personal appearance and overall general health. After a brief workout and instructional session, I'm more motivated than ever to see positive results.
The facility is well equipped, clean and has ample parking.
Looking forward to achieving my fitness goals at LA FITNESS 💪

UPDATE - changing to 1 star due to AC being out and the staff being super nonchalant about it... do i have to upgrade my membership to have AC added?

Scheduled for Service should be the name of this gym, because that's the signs that are posted everywhere throughout the gym. Cardio equipment is old and rarely works. the same machines break down regularly.... BUY NEW ONES.... Sadly i have family that wanted to start working out with me but, when they found out i go to LA Fitness they said "all we ever hears is that nothing there works"..... whelp they're not wrong.

And don't get me started about the AC in the summer. broken down frequently and always on the hottest days.

I gave them 2 stars because at least the staff is nice.

This gym has significantly gone downhill from when I originally started going. The equipment is always broken and takes forever to be put back in service. The gym currently has no air, and hasn’t for months now, the woman’s locker room feels like a sauna. The gym isn’t always the cleanest (mirrors, floors, equipment, bathrooms tend to be dirty often). But the staff is pretty friendly and attentive. Overall would suggest going to a different location around Columbus.

I came from the Grandview location and man this one is night and day better. Staff is super friendly, there's always someone cleaning and keeping up with the weights. Best of all there's not a million machines broken. Doesn't get terribly crowded like the Grandview location. Enjoy it here and well run! Only thing keeping it from 5 stars is it's a bit older in terms of the building and some equipment. Small detractor as it has everything you could need.

Have been going to this gym for over two years. It has constantly been in a state of decline. It’s actually unsafe to work out here at times. The treadmills are barely operational, 10 at a time are usually broken, and they still let them run. So you get on, and the belt starts skipping and you get tripped up, I’ve almost fallen off multiple times. Staff is rude at times. Just overall seems like this property is not maintenanced And for $30+ a month I do expect more, especially safe equipment. Pretty sure there has been a shooting or two there also.

The gym that I normally work at in Grandview is so crowded on Saturdays that I went to the Graceland gym today to work out. Five straight machines I got on in a row, either functioned poorly or not at all and this doesn’t include all the ones that already have signs on them saying scheduled for maintenance that don’t work. I would say 30 to 40% of the equipment in this gym is either being repaired or needs to be repaired. That’s just unacceptable.

Great place, except for the people who use weight machines to sit and play on their phones, couple who hold two machines while one works out, or just sit and talk for half an hour, Some of us have limited time to get a good work out done, Oh, and the guy that brings his girlfriend into the locker room with him. Great times!
Feb 17, 2025-Obviously after a week of maintaining the Men's Room sauna, the attendant never noticed the light bulb was out. Tricky walking in there and not being able to see an empty seat. One of our more progressive members brought in a light bulb and changed it out. And we pay monthly......

If you are looking for a pool don't look here at the Graceland LA Fitness. The pool is cold. First they are waiting on the part, then the next week they are waiting on someone to fix it. The next week they claim it's fixed but it's only a little bit warmer. Then it's cold again. The front desk even went so far as to lie about the temperature on Monday. The story today is they are waiting on a part.

I wanted to love this place, but it's just badly maintained. I was a member for 5 months and every time I went, about half of the cardio equipment didn't work. Do yourself a favor and pay attention when they show you around. half the equipment is always broken. There are maybe 25 treadmills and less than half that work. 1/8 exercise bikes work. Membership has the increased by more than 50% but none of that money is going back into the place. Don’t expect to show up and plan your workout. Look elsewhere. Half the lockers smell like weed or cigarettes. There are way better places to spend your money. Sadly it used to be a nice place to go. More people+less equipment = bad investment

Member of 3 years-
This is my least favorite Esport of all even though it's the one closest to my home.

My workouts are mainly motivated by getting to the sauna. This particular location always has sauna problems. When it is working it's not nearly as hot as other locations.

This has completely ruined my perception of the Graceland location and I've actually stopped going there for several months. The app is mostly useless for anything besides checking in at the front desk. It would be awesome if you could notify staff of equipment that needs repair or maintenance and then receive updates when saunas or machines are working again at specific locations.

I got tired of showing up hoping the sauna would be fixed, now I just drive to one of the other locations. Very disappointing because I used to love this place and its so close to my house.

The Graceland location
Esporta/LA Fitness either is having management issues or Training issues. The few Sanitizer Bottles either do not work or are empty most of the time. The soap container in the men’s room on 2nd
Floor has been broken the past 11 months. 80% of exercise cardio equipment with TV screens do not work. Only half of the main level TV’s do not work. Men’s Dressing room is usually a mess. The front desk staff seems to be having their own personal party most of the time instead of monitoring the facilities for members who misuse equipment . Poor business measures. I was away from this location for a few months due to business and on my return visit my first impression of all this was the owners are not putting any effort or expense in to their facility because they are trying to sell it! Last but not least, in the theater workout room, A/C not working instead a large clumsy fan plus when they tried to do an update by painting it they took down the two hand sanitizer containers and did not replace them. Having been to other facilities Graceland is tanking FAST!
very Disappointing!

I’ve been a member for 10 months. The only items I can’t speak to are group trainings or the pool. Can you come here, get good sets in, and work through your journey here? Yes, but consider the following:
Cleanliness: sanitizer wipes are in awkward positions, often empty, and rarely used by the majority of members. The bathrooms and sauna are always gross or in need of repair. The planks on the sauna are grime encrusted and seemingly never cleaned.

Functional readiness: as other comments have mentioned, if you see a machine broken, expect it be “awaiting service” for a long time. There are also machines that need maintenanced (lubrication on cable machines). A lot of padding or rubber is either worn down, piecing off, or missing too.

Staff: The team members here often exhibit laziness, unprofessionalism, or predatory/pressuring sales tactics. This is unfortunate for the few employees that have been a pleasure to see on my way in or out of the gym. Thank you for that.

For a place that charges ~$60 in admin start up fees, first and last month up front, and a $30-50 monthly membership fee, I don’t feel as though the standards of that cost are met. You can go to PF for $10 a month and have most of the deficiencies list above removed from the situation… and even if they aren’t, you paying significantly less and the culture at least adheres to wiping down equipment.

If you’re sure you want to go to Esporta, I recommend the one in Polaris.

I’ve been going to this gym for almost 2 years and didn’t have any reason to take the time to leave a review till now. For the most part it was a decent gym and had enough machines/equipment to satisfy my fitness needs. Not the most clean gym, half the machines don’t function properly and need maintenance. A lot of the free weights are worn out. But the disrespect I dealt with was not worth me ever going there again. Today one of the personal trainers thought it was smart to embarrass me and rudely yell at me infront of other gym members. He even threatened to make me pay for something I’m sure he has no power to do so. Based on other reviews I’ve read I’m not the only person who has had issues with this person. He’s been there the whole time I’ve had a membership. I’ve seen so many employees come and go, so It’s surprising he’s lasted this long considering how unprofessional he speaks to people.

Pretty decent commercial gym! Not too busy at certain time but popular hours are definitely a thing here. A lot of socializing going on if you are into that. Or if you’re strictly here to put the nose to the stone then it’s great for that too. Playlist on overhead isn’t too bad if your headphones die. Or you can be a man and listen to your body and put on headphones so no one will try to speak to you!! Caleb and Shawn at the front desk are very personable as well! OPENING AT 8AM ON A WEEKEND IS LAUGHABLE. Also, for this Gym and any gym...buy equipment to account for women being addicted to barbell glute bridges! It awesome that women training legs hard has become popular but as a business you adapt. Buy more of the equipment needed. It's sheer luck to be able to have a squat rack or barbell and space at this Gym. The racketball court is useless. Put 6-8 power racks and platforms in that room. As someone that ran large gyms for years It's pretty obvious Esporta Corp is letting this location die. I'm sure they'll sell it and someone will rebrand w the same garbage equipment and poor utilization of space.

Its a gym and works for what I need. However many machines do not work or are broken and they have removed other machines entirely in the past couple months. Spoke with an employee this past week, and they mentioned they always submit work orders and some of the machines get "calibrated" but not actually fixed. Also said they do not invest money in new machines (which shows), and have removed some machines without reason recently. This was way better under LA Fitness - ESPORTA has been neglecting the machines and equipment that brings people into the gym. I do wish they would update/maintain the equipment, with all the new gyms popping up around Columbus with nicer and newer equipment

Emily (Personal Training Director) was super friendly each time we’ve spoken!! The insightful questions asked and recollection of aforementioned information exemplifies the considerate nature behind her excellent customer service. Soumoya (personal trainer) definitely challenged me with the speed and intensity of the guided exercises, but she balanced the programming well to quickly adapt to my needs. The two of them are a dynamic duo and would highly recommend working with them :)

This gym has a great variety of machines, but the thing that makes it worse than the surrounding esportas is the sauna ......the sauna is not hot enough. I have talked to management numerous times about it but nothing has changed. The esporta on the East side has an average temp of 200 here its 160 or below...

Only reason I go here is because it’s cheaper than a lot of other gyms and close to my house. Half of their stuff is either always out of order, broken or missing some of the equipment. It is beyond frustrating and seems like management never does anything about it

I FAILED TO SEE THIS WHEN THEY GAVE ME A TOUR. I would stay away from this gym. Machines are very old. Some from the 90s and they never buy anything new. So machines are in constant "maintenance". Some are just made from pieces of metal welded together like a do it at home project. And trust me they will never update their machines they just will gather your, and mine, money.

I should read the reviews and try the free pass before to sign my membership, I feel I wasted my money, machines are very old, no maintaining, they even make noise when I used, they make feel nervous with the noise, severel of them and treadmill, doesn't work, the cushions are worn and torn, even the carpet has holes not to mention the smell of bleach from the pool, and without enough air. 😩

I’ve been a member for 1.5 years. It’s frustrating coming in to a workout when a cardio machine looks like it functions but no matter how many buttons you click they don’t work, when machines constantly have signs posted with “scheduled for maintenance” for weeks at a time and staff don’t hear you when you have a concern or make you feel what you have to say is invalid.

The women’s room is extremely hot at all times of the year and has no air flow. When women go to crack the door open slightly to allow for airflow (while allowing privacy) the door is immediately closed by a staff member. That room is also very under equipped. It should have all the equipment since it is supposed to make women feel comfortable instead of having women members go drag equipment in and out of it.

As a business owner myself, I would be ashamed of the condition of the equipment of this gym since this is what a majority members are paying to come here for. They need to invest in updating machines and having a staff member who is timely at maintaining the machines/equipment.

The gym is great for the price, but the reviews about the equipment are true. Every single time I come (which is almost daily), I have to try multiple machines before I get one that works. This is specifically the cardio machines. Weight training machines seem fine. The ladies only area is a nice touch, but the equipment is lacking. The elliptical and treadmill (there's only one of each) literally never work, there's only a handful of weight training machines and there aren't enough dumbells, kettlebells, etc. I never fully have what I need in there, but it's really uncomfortable being on the floor with other people, especially when it's crowded. Also, the showers are not cleaned enough and the sauna is not always turned on.

For what it is and how much it costs, it's great. If you're not here at peak times then the machinery issues are no big deal.

Now, I have three kids so this is GREAT for an affordable option with childcare. Jayda (Jada?) is absolutely amazing and I feel safe leaving my kids with her. I can't say that for every staff member. They have some members that I won't leave my infant with because I'm not convinced they can handle multiple kids and an infant. I'm a teacher, so I might have too high of standards, but I just don't feel safe with every single staff member. Also, I wish the childcare hours could be extended. It really only works for stay-at-home parents or for parents who only need care a couple of times a week. Three days out of the week there is no care in the evening and one day there is no care at all.

Again, this is a great gym for those on a budget! Overall, these are minor things. First word problems, really. BUT, if you're paying for it, you should have working equipment, competent people to care for the kids and a clean space.

EDIT: Just adding that the childcare continues to be cringeworthy. The other day, I walked in and there was an unknown person sitting at the front desk on their phone. They didn't look up at me when we came in, so I assume they don't work there/wasn't on duty. The girl that I did recognize as someone who works there had her headphones on and was watching a video on her iPad. She didn't notice me, either. Meanwhile, behind them, An older child was sitting in an infant carseat while another older child was swinging it around in circles. Neither adult paid any attention to it. When I picked up my child, they still were not watching the kids. This isn't the only time something like this has happened with the same staff. My kids won't be going to the childcare when these people are working.

Been coming to the Esporta in Graceland since LA fitness was there and I must say the staff there is awful. Unless you're 55 years old or you're an 18 year old girl who dresses half naked the staff is very disrespectful. Was lifting a little heavy and one of the personal trainers came over and told me that I was slamming a metal bar against a metal rack too hard and then proceeded to show me what he thought was too loud, all because he was on a conference call. What a way to lose a member whose been there for probably longer than 5 years. Then the operations manager didnt seem to care at all when I was cancelling my membership. If I want to be harrassed about being too loud I would join Planet Fitness, at least they're only 10$ a month. I will never be back there and will tell anyone who asks not to join there. What a terrible way to lose a long time member.

Never try to go to this gym its scam
If you add a guest to your membership and after a time you want to remove that guest from your membership they will be not able to remove the guest they will tell you to cancel your membership and sign up again when you cancel your membership there will be a $27 cancelation fee and when you want to sign up again you need to pay again annual fee which is around $60.

I wanted to sign up again but when I see they charged me $27 for the cancelation fee I will never try to sign up again.

The older man working the desk, Bryan (Brian), was very rude and unhelpful while visiting from out of town with my father. After returning 50 minutes later to re-check in when I asked if I needed to give him my phone number again he rudely replied that it I want back in I do and then proceeded to tell me I need to use the app, even though they have a sign posted that you can provide phone number look up, AND I had just entered and already provided this info. After asking some members in the locker room they stated he was very unpleasant and u friendly with them as well. These members, like myself, are people of color and today I felt this gentleman’s poor behavior to be racially motivated and hurtful.

It could double as a museum with the aging equipment. Very little has changed since this opened in 2008 as Urban Active. Treadmills have loose belts, ellipticals don't increase in tension, and the cable machines (like a lot of other weight AND cardio equipment) are constantly "scheduled for service." None of this is a good sign that Esporta corporate cares about this location.
On the plus side, the cleaners in the morning do a good job keeping the place clean, it's easy to get in and out, and the price is decent.

It's "okay". Machines are coated in dust. Just doesn't seem very clean. Employees are not friendly at all (except for kids club, they are always great in there). Today I tried to go at 830 (they open at 8) and there was a crowd of people waiting to get in because no one had showed up to open the door. My membership expires in March and I may just go somewhere else. They have a good selection of weights and machines and I very rarely have issues with having to wait. There is a women only section but seems like stuff is broken in there more often.

Always clean and nice! Set up well too! My only complaint is that the body scale they have is difficult to get an exact/easy to read number on. I like to see exact numbers, but this is an old school dr's office scale and the reading it gives you seems rather ambiguous. Maybe I should ask them to teach my how to know for sure where the little pin is pointing once it is balanced. Upgrading to a digital scale would be nice too.
