Been a member at a lot of gyms and this one is by far the worst. Tyler Blankenship is the guy who will sign you up for a membership and he is completely incompetent at his job on selecting the correct membership. Then when you ask him to get it fixed, he will give you the run around and say his VP, Victor Chavez, is working on fixing it. That fix won't ever happen and you are just wasting your time dealing with him while you continue to get charged your monthly membership fee. Not to mention, after a month or so of working out at this gym, you begin to realize more than half the equipment is broken down, outdated, rusty, and plain nasty to handle. The basketballs are always deflated. The locker rooms are always a mess. I don't think I've ever seen any cleaning staff. Look at other gyms before you consider this one.

I used to work out here back in 2017. You guys probably haven’t fixed one thing since then. It’s actually hilarious that I almost bought another membership through you guys. Especially considering the outrageous price you guys impose. Outrageous prices, call for expensive and quick fixes to equipment. It’s what people expect from a high quality gym. You guys failed to fulfill your own niche as a company, and you’ll go under for it.

This gym genuinely does have potential and promise and LA fitness as a concept is great, but this gym is just lackluster in all areas. I don’t even know where to start I really don’t care about a front desk at a gym I don’t expect much from them at all maybe a hi but 90 percent of the time they don’t even do that. The basketball court is dusty ridden and never cleaned, they turn off the lights while people are still inside working out, they also closed the basketball court early most of the time. The bathrooms are never clean. And the worst part is the equipment. The equipment is outdated, worn down and broken. The pull up bars look like they’ve been thru a war and have never been fixed nothing in this gym ever gets fixed the second Smith machine as long as I’ve been there has never worked. The machines up stairs don’t have pins so they have nails to use a pin. They weights are worn down and have the rubber worn off. For the Price of the membership these things shouldn’t be a regular issue. This place is worn down out of date not properly cared for.

They turned off the lights upstairs when I was on the treadmill. I couldn’t even see the stop button and almost fell down the stairs. When I told the employees what happened, that this was unsafe and they could be sued they said have a good night and laughed. You legally should not be able to turn off all the lights until all people have left, regardless of time. I think OSHA. or someone needs to look into this place. What do you guys or the Owner have to say about this?

Also I have never seen a place where more than half the treadmills don’t work or make grinding noises when increasing the incline. They’re probably original to the building. Invest some money into your gym and have some pride.

I see the owner only replies to positive reviews and ducks the rest so I’m expecting no action. It’ll be easy to report this place.

I like the concept of the gym, the atmosphere is nice. However the shower area needs regular cleaning, the broken exercise machines and dust very present on machines and around should be removed. The cycle room is filthy, dust and dirt is very present. The broken cycle bikes should be removed. What happened to the mirrors thru out the cycle room. This is the first LA fitness I been to were there are no mirrors in the cycle room. Paint pilling from the walls. Not a good look.

This gym is huge, there's plenty of equipment, there's always a game to join on the ball court. My favorite is the indoor track, especially in winter it's nice to just walk and listen to audiobook or podcast.

I had an extremely disappointing experience at this LA Fitness location. On my very first day as a guest, my headphones were stolen while I was working out. When I went to speak with Tyler and Dakota about the situation, they were unhelpful and offered no solutions. At one point they even located the criminal that stole them and had video evidence. It's frustrating to feel like you're not supported at a gym of such caliber, especially when you're just trying to enjoy your workout. I expected better customer service and security, but unfortunately, this location has been a letdown. I will not be returning. I would give 0/5 stars if I could.

I went to the gym on Holland Sylvania and was very disgusted with my overall experience. I had no help at Check-in. I came with a guest and was trying to check them in. It took me a minute to find an employee to help - a staffer who was slouched over his desk in a cubical away from the front desk, not greeting or checking anyone in. when confronted, the staffer just looked over and said to go in, acknowledging my guest but telling me not to worry about them checking in and that he was the only one working.

The locker room has torn couches/lounge area, missing lock hinges/locker doors, and bottomed-out lockers. The gym had weights all over the floor and trash left around it. The equipment looked worn (most notably the pull-up bars).

I’m not one to judge the gyms I visit since I understand that each gym is unique. However, as a commercial gym with a higher reputation, I would like to hold this gym to a higher standard. I’ve been to the local Planet Fitness and Crunch Fitness and have had better experiences with lower rates. Needless to say, if this were my home gym, I would be canceling my membership.

I love the idea of this gym. Love the track upstairs and the sauna. However, at any given time, several of the machines are broken down. In particular, all but one of the stairmasters have been broken since I started working out here. All the others have scheduled for maintenance signs and if they don’t, they don’t function correctly. For how much it costs, it’s not worth it to not be able to do the workout you have planned.

Gym is supposed to be open at 5AM. My husband has to be at work early in the morning, and the amount of money we are paying these people and their continuing failure is upsetting. Men's steam room always broke, women's sauna light never working, takes forever for women's sauna to heat up. Place is going down.

Had a membership for awhile it was very easy to cancel. I left because of the outdated machines, broken machines that were down for months, and the uncleanness. The pool was nice, the shower rooms were dirty and clearly not cleaned everyday. The sauna was good. I also love the track and the movie theater work out room. You stay for the people. This place is a huge hazard. I've had my hair and skin burned in the pool 3 times now. Due to lack of maintenance there's a really high probability you will get hurt on one of the stairmasters here. It almost seems like a lawsuit waiting to happen but idk. You can't tell them anything, it just falls on deaf ears.

Management is a revolving door, and appears powerless since the old old days of Nick and Josh. Equipment stays broken for many, many months, some things years, and at least one piece probably approaching a decade. Management: "parts are on order." 2 lights in upstairs mensroom, one goes out, what do you do? Wait for the second to go, bathroom has to closed, wait a week or two, replace bulbs. More days than not, soap, paper towels, and toilet paper all present at the same time, AND toilets, etc in functional condition. But a lot of 'nots.' People on track talking very loudly, can hear them clear across gym. Management either clueless or powerless or just doesn't care. The machine weights with flat plates, people lift then simply drop, rattling the entire second floor. Does not open until 8 on Saturday and Sunday, and 8 means 8, a second sooner. Why 2-star? The employees are generally nice, pleasant, and helpful, and there are some nice people. Plus, it is large, airy, machines farther apart than Sylvania Y/JCC, which felt cramped, claustrophobic, and physically uninviting when we visited. Issues at eSporta could be fixed if there were true empowered managers .... or anyone cared. Formerly, as Urban Active and early days as LA Fitness, was 4*, at very least 3*, never upscale like perhaps Wildwood, but definitely passable and presentable. Especially Sat AMs extremely loud, other times, too, management oblivious. Some of the equipment is purely for show, waiting for a replacement cycle that is certainly longer than the 10-plus years we have been members. In one row of maybe 10 ellipticals, 2 are in decent working order, for example.

I came in and brought my daughter with me . The front desk staff are amazing and friendly!! The friendliest gym people ever ! I’m a fitness competitor, and esporta , formally LA fitness is typically known to be a “lifter” gym. That being said they are always so welcoming and supportive. We even shot hoops on the court both days , the men playing a half court game were super respectful both days. This gym really does have it all and I’m happy to make the drive from BG to central ave to have the hospitality and the amount of options this gym offers ❤️💪💪

It's ok, equipment is old useable. My only problem is the clientele bc they don't clean the machines after using them. I am used to a rival gym where 99% of people use the disinfectant spray when they finish on the machine. Other than that, it has a lot of options which i find desirable. Use to be a good gym, been coming here for years with my father early every morning before work. However, as of the past 2 months each week at least one day the facility is opening late making it so we can’t have a daily workout which is unfortunate and unacceptable. I’m not talking 5-10 minutes late too, I’m always leaving at the 30 minute mark and I know people are waiting even longer. They need to pick themselves up before they become like the maumee location and close down. At this point, not many people would care.

The facility is big and has everything. The staff are good. They have a nice track and good basketball court and a decent sized pool. This gym could be a 5 star if the equipment weren’t old. Dumbbells are so old and most of the free weights have the rubber worn out. Cardio machines are 0/10. Most are broken. I don’t think the management is the issue since they need money to upgrade but corporate needs to step up their game. Been going here for 10 years and I’m so attached to this gym but if corporate doesn’t make changes I’m ready to switch gyms when my membership expires in a few months.

Went to use a day pass and guy said I couldn’t use it even though I had a QR code. Tried to get me to buy a day pass for $20. I would have bought a membership being that I just moved back to Ohio but if he was that pressed about a day pass then I didn’t want to buy a membership from him. Ended up going to Definition Fitness and got a membership for $27, no sign on fee and 24/7 gym. It’s a good size gym, no crowd and all brand new equipment so a win for me in the end.

Plus, last time I was in town visiting a guy was sitting on the leg press watching a football taking up the equipment not working out.

(I used to work at an LA fitness and for how much they make there’s no way to be that pressed about a day pass)

Most of the gym equipment is in shambles. More than half the dumbbells are missing the entire rubber outer part. Gym won’t replace anything unless it’s completely destroyed. If it’s still 5% intact expect it to stay there for another 10 years.

Cleaning guy (Kenny) is top notch cleaning person,but equipment is in very poor condition,in that most of cardio equipment doesn’t work as expected.

First time visiting this location in Sylvania Ohio. I went in to inquire about a membership and was told the manager Marcus, who was pointed out to me would be right with me. As I was turning to see who the young man was pointing to, I was greeted by a frown on Marcus face. The Janitor had me to sit down, Marcus came out of his cube and went to the front desk to whisper something in the janitors ear. Marcus never acknowledged me, never came out to see me, but just left me sitting there until the janitor spoke out and said he would help me. If Marcus is the face of Esporta, this is not the fitness center for me. He was unprofessional, unpleasant and unfriendly. I would not recommend this place to anyone due to the poor treatment I received from Marcus..

I called several weeks prior to today (1/27/23) and was told if I come in the office between 9-5 Monday-Fri, I can have my membership cancelled. But of course when I stop in, the manager (that’s so conveniently the only person that can cancel my membership) isn’t in the office due to leaving early. Too busy and half their machines are broken/don't work correctly. almost none of the treadmills work at an incline and have machines that have been "out of order" for over a year. Wouldn't recommend if you want to do heavy resistance training.

As someone who frequents more gyms in a year that I care to mention, I can assert that Esporta is a phenomenal gym serving Toledo. Upon entry to the gym, you are greeted by wonderful staff. The gym layout is open and spacious, with copious amounts of equipment to lift weights, and amenities that cater to your preference of cardio, whether by machine, track, court, or pool. For primary compound lifts, 4 flat benches, 2 squat racks, 2 Smith Machines, a hack squat, leg press, and military press provide great options. Additional Hammer Strength Plate Loaded machines assist with targeting controlled movements for chest, back, and shoulder exercises. Dumbbells reach into the mid 100s (150lb's I believe but don't quote me). Locker rooms are clean and organized, and the sense of a community among members is clearly apparent.

For those interested in a membership, Terry will ensure that you are taken care of and that your membership caters to your fitness needs. For those who are seeking a structured workout and cardio regiment, Karen is an outstanding resource. She and her team of fitness instructors will formulate a fitness plan that is tailored to your physique and strength objectives and guide you through your journey. I work out 5 days a week.The staff is friendly .The building is constantly cleaned not enough , too many patrons don't clean up after themselves. The equipment needs more maintenance. New machines would help.four stars.

ESPORTA has been rebranded to the low end of LA fitness. If you like broken machines and dirty locker rooms this is the gym for you. I was driving across town to go here, I got a membership at another gym. Only have not canceled because my wife likes the track. I see other LA fitness meme bees at my new gym, so I must not be the only one that feels this way.

Both the sauna and the steam room are not operational.... this is the only one on the area since they closed the Maumee location without warning. Space is clean , and equipment is well spaced out. Wish they had a punching bag.

This was a good gym. They have a good combination of cardio machines, free weights and resistance machines. Also walking track ,basketball court and pool.

The only concern is the lack of equipment maintenance. Some equipment has been out of service for months. Some of the rubber coated dumbbells are missing the rubber. (Safety issue)Lack of attention by management for sure.

The equipment upstairs needs repair, replacement and cleaning as well. Management can do better!!! Lastly the front desk personnel has gotten better over time ,but there is never a manager on duty to discuss these concerns

Update after 3 months 5/24 More equipment out of service. The dumbbells are a safety concern. Still no response from management. No change 10/10/22

Gym needs a major upgrade. Cardio equipment barely works. Yesterday, I only found one single treadmill that had a working incline. The other treadmills said there was no user on the belt and shut off! Not a nice way to start out my self-care time. Plus, I drive across town to get the feeling like I’m going to a decent gym. I don’t expect a luxury fitness club experience at $30/month but I DO expect the equipment to WORK. I’m thinking of leaving to join Planet Fitness after only a few workouts. I am simply not getting what I am paying for. The womens gym is a great idea, but is a sad afterthought. It should have better lighting and not the oldest cardio machines in the gym. A squat rack perhaps? The exercises that many women are not comfortable doing in the main gym area. The womens gym can get pretty full during peak times, so there’s a demand. I also regularly can’t find a spray bottle to spray down the equipment. Yesterday there was literally only one spray bottle for the second floor. Don’t you have staff monitoring your gym and equipment?

I would not recommend giving your time or money to this sad excuse of a gym. I was a member for several months, but canceled my membership shortly after due to dissatisfaction. First, a good number of machines do not work and never seem to be fixed. Second, the facility itself is filthy. Nobody wipes down their machines/equipment and cleaning towels/spray are rare to find. Not only is the facility disgusting, but the attitude of the management might be even more disgusting (specifically the manager, Nate). Several months after I completed all the steps to cancel my membership I found out that Esporta was still charging me monthly for my membership via auto pay! I called the facility to inquire about this and request a refund. The manager, Nate, was the most unprofessional customer service representative I have ever conversed with. He put full blame on me for not “saving the confirmation email of the canceled membership” and not “confirming my membership was canceled”. Oh, it gets better. He had the audacity to question my ability to handle my finances. Instead of questioning his customers ability to handle finances, he should be questioning his ability to be a manager. Honestly, they can have the money they rightfully owe me. It will take a lot more money than that to hire/train respectful employees and turn that gym around! Summary: go elsewhere in Toledo.

It’s a good facility overall. It seems after another company took over the LA Fitness, cleanliness has declined.

I joined this gym when it was L.A. Fitness I left because it was NASTY bathroom locker room filthy locker doors hanging from lockers and I repeat the gym was filthy. I rejoined the gym when they changed the name to ESPORTA Fitness sorry to say nothing has changed the locker room and Bathroom are filthy.I really caint believe that people still go to this gym . Just rejoined this gym due to Maxx fitness closing. Only have been here since last Monday and come today Sunday and they aren't open ? Supposed to open at 8 am waited till 830 nobody showed up to open. The place is filthy, it's now Monday and there's been a pile of garbage in the shower area since Thursday. Most of the locker room area is littered with garbage and paper. The person who supposedly cleaning the place, sits at the front counter all morning long either reading his phone or chatting it up with the front desk person.
