I have been going to this gym off and on for the past several years. Nothing has changed within those years. Still same equipment - very little improvements have happened. Everything is old and worn out. It’s always dirty in here and takes any motivation you have to workout away as you don’t want to touch anything due to the lack of cleanliness. Sad to see what once was a great gym look and feel beyond dirty.

Find another—this is the nastiest gym I’ve ever worked out in. I don’t even know where to start. The free weight/dumbbells are disgusting, like to the point when you pick them up, chunks of stained plastic come off. You have to beg the front staff to perform basic cleaning and maintenance. I didn’t know why they have machine wipe containers all over the floor when they are ALWAYS empty. The women’s locker room has been without hand soap for weeks. Dust bunnies all over the main gym floor, moldy clumps of hair in the showers, and passive aggressive hand written notes in the bathroom by Leslie (I don’t even know who that is but if it’s the owner she should spend more time cleaning/hiring someone to clean and less time on writing notes). It takes several weeks to months to get basic maintenance done. The front desk staff is friendly but it does seem that the back office is over staffed and the maintenance/cleaning team is nonexistent.

Here is an example of the quality of the equipment at this gym. This is supposed to be a yoga mat if you couldn’t tell due to 50% of it missing.

They also have asked female members to put sanitary napkins and tampons in the main trash bins near the sink areas. Resulting in menstrual blood and other USED sanitary supplies falling on the ground by the sinks (see attached photo). This place a foul health hazard to the public.

People are great. But Dumbbells are all chewed up and sauna is lukewarm at best (even tho recently fixed). Fix dumbbells and increase sauna temp, and I’ll update to 5 stars immediately. And I’ll make sure there will be a flurry of positive reviews from other members as well. Sorry for critique but it’s been too long!

LA Fitness in Crocker Park, Westlake Ohio: Examine their facilities carefully prior to signing up. Their equipment is worn, once a machine breaks it waits for repair until repair person comes from the Cincinnati area. Free weights are in terrible shape the rubber over metal on most is worn off so the weight is lighter than it indicates. The floor is always dirty with plastic, hair & dust in piles. The locker room floor is not clean. I go there 2 or 3 times per week and notice the same junk on Men’s locker room floor. Dry sauna has hole in floor in the middle that has existed for years. Showers have fixtures that need repair such as faucet doesn’t control water or soap dispenser has no soap or doesn’t work. The floor in the main entry & check in area is often littered with “dust bunnies” & at this time of year leaves. The full time employees have a poor attitude: example I asked one of the full timers to help me with some equipment this year his reply was it’s not my job & I don’t want to learn how to do it. He told me to wait until the person whose job it was arrived to work.
You may ask after reading my opinion of LA F why I frequent LA F, it’s because it is located in walking distance from my home any other work out facility I will have to drive to. I was hoping when LA F took ownership back from Esporta that things would improve. They haven’t.

You are taking spots away from young families, expected mothers, elderly and actual Trader Joe’s customers. If you are going to a gym, why not have a short warm up and park on the other levels and use the damn stairs.

Pool is only ~23 yrds but it’s a good temp and salt water opposed to tons of chlorine 👍. Some equipment shows wear but it all functions very well and they have everything you’d need.

Men's locker carpet was scrubbed last Friday! The restroom area was deodorized and stall walls scrubbed. They just need an automatic air freshener thing replaced to work now and it'll smell amazing 24/7! In the meantime we have a much better smelling locker room. As always remember to put tp in the toilet and trash in the trash can not the floor.

Everything in this gym is 20 years old at best. Half the cardio equipment doesn't work. And stays permanently broken. The men's locker room is flat out disgusting. Smells awful. There's currently a shower that hasn't had an on / off knob for 3 weeks. They go weeks without cleaning the locker room. Convenience is the only reason to join this gym.

As an update, things have only gotten worse. Management truly doesn't care about this place. Frankly I'm not sure how it can pass inspection. More stuff is broken and ignored, the public areas are cleaned less frequently (if at all) and the smell continues to get worse. Avoid at all costs.

If you’re considering joining Esporta Fitness (formerly LA Fitness) at Crocker Park, I strongly urge you to take a walk through the gym before you sign anything.

I’ve worked in this industry. I know what basic standards of maintenance, cleanliness, and member satisfaction look like — and what’s happening here is a total breakdown on all three fronts.

Here’s what I’ve seen firsthand:

• The men’s locker room smells foul. Trash is left for days. Showers are stained and grimy.
• The sauna is unusable either broken or repulsive.
• Multiple strength machines have torn upholstery (see attached photos). Pads are split wide open, exposing inner foam and fabric.
• Dumbbells have worn-out grips and rubber completely missing.
• Equipment is out of order for weeks, sometimes months all with zero transparency.
• Floors are littered with trash. Paper towel dispensers stay empty.

I’ve contacted management directly, including the General Manager. No responses. No action. And if you scroll through their Google reviews, you’ll notice a pattern: glowing feedback gets replies; legitimate complaints are ignored. That speaks volumes about their priorities.

This is not just a one-off rough week it’s clearly the norm.

This is not what a premium gym experience should look like, especially in a location like Crocker Park.

It’s disappointing to see a brand with this much footprint show such little interest in its members’ experience. It feels like they’ve given up and if that’s the standard, why are we still paying a monthly fee?

If there were another fitness option like Lifetime in the area, this place would empty out overnight.

Don’t take my word for it. Walk in. Take a deep breath. Look at the equipment. Ask yourself if this feels like a place that’s worth investing your time and health into.

This place is the best place to go work out. They have every piece of equipment machine that you could think of and never even thought to think of. 10 out of 10 if I were to ever move to Cleveland and even when I go visit my friend and need to work out. I will 100% be going to this gym. The customer service is phenomenal. I was shown around the gym. They have day pass options. And the front desk, gentlemen, an older gentleman was so kind and helpful and the manager was just a delight and an inspiration just the kindest people willing to help you reach your goals even just talking to you made you feel like you were in the right place. Prefer their hours to be a longer vs cutting back. Preferred them being open until 11pm during the weekdays, easier for parking like they use to be...also weekends were open until 7pm and now 6pm. Plus the video workout room, the video has been down.....or times movie is over and it takes awhile for them to hit reset or play a new movie when the video is stopped. Years ago, more on the ball about it. What is the place too?...LA Fitness to Esporta back to LA Fitness.
PS. Sometimes wonder if they could have a bench there for the older/elderly exercise folks just to sit and take a break. The floor span is large etc....

Love the gym and all the amenities. Unfortunately the women's sauna is rarely hot. 9 times out of 10 it is not hot. I have mentioned it and complained numerous times and other members have as well but it has not been properly addressed or looked into. Only one of the coils works on the heating element. I've been told "oh we will reset the breaker" etc etc. One of the main reasons I switched from Planet fitness to here was for the sauna and I always look forward to it after my workouts so it's disappointing it's rarely ever hot.

On a side note, Ciara at the front desk is very nice and professional and a pleasure to deal with and speak to.

I enjoy using the pool. There is usually no wait and it's first come first serve. I wish they had more paddle boards/pool noodles. Also it would be nice to have shelving in the pool area for towels, glasses, etc.

I enjoy the yoga and spinning classes that are included in the membership. I am an avid biker and I still find their classes both challenging at times and enjoyable.

I do wish they had more leg exercise machines. People tend to be on their phones while sitting on these few pieces of equipment. This leads either to a longer workout or I end up leaving early and not finishing my workout plan

I frequently travel to this area of Ohio for work and was able to use this gym for a week. The gym is massive (4 levels) and has just about every machine and equipment imaginable. The gym is also super clean and I love the protein/smoothie shop on the first floor. It’s also located directly across from a Trader Joe’s for that post workout nutrition.

This is an excellent gym. They offer a free 3 day pass and they extended and gave me an extra week guest pass at no charge while I waited for my wife to move to rhe state and check out gyms(shout out Matt). Clean gym with well maintained equipment. Wide variety of equipment from free weights, machines, plenty of cardio equipment, a cardio theater, punching bags, and a walking track on the upper floor. They also have a swimming pool and sauna. It can get busy around the 4-6pm hours, but I haven't had problems with it being too busy.

Highly recommend taking advantage of the free 3 day pass and seeing if this gym is for you.

I work across the street from here and I always come over here for the protein shakes and the blonde girl who works the counter is literally the sweetest angel ever, she is so nice. I’m from out of town so I don’t know how the gym is usually, but I was there last night around 8pm and the men’s locker room, sauna, and showers, were quite filthy, I was there for two hours and not once did I see someone come in to clean or mop all the sweat and water from the sauna and shower. The carpet was gross. Looks like it hasn’t been vacuumed in months. Lockers gross. The staff was great and friendly and the equipment was clean, but the locker room was falling apart. The sauna had tiles missing and the hole where the drain was looked like a toilet hole 🤢. Going to try a different location today

The policy of blocking out equipment for 'personal training' sessions, preventing other members from accessing it, is quite disappointing. Especially considering that the sessions can have only one person, and they still block off the entire area. I have never encountered such a practice at any other gym I've attended. This myopic policy seems to prioritize dollar signs over customer satisfaction.

Short-sighted leadership that neglects a customer-oriented approach usually does not work in the long run – a little advice to the Division VP.

This place is such a pathetic husk of what can be considered an acceptable gym. Truly shameful what it’s devolved into. It’s been 4+ years since covid started and they still haven’t returned to pre-Covid hours. Every time someone asks they are given a different answer. I’ve heard it blamed on Westlake, Crocker park/Stark, foot traffic not being high enough, esporta corporate etc but I’m guessing it has something to do with overall poor leadership/management and thus not being able to staff the gym appropriately with adequately paid employees. Esporta/LA fitness really needs to do better or just exit the space and let someone competent take over. Meanwhile you have rude and often hostile staff overzealously kicking people out according to a covid era closing time. Long time members have been being shorted out of part of the day they had always been paying for for years where it also just happens to be more convenient to workout and are instead being threatened to have (or actually had) the security called on them; or childish tactics like having the lights turned off in the locker room while they are getting ready to leave. New menbers were essentially tricked into paying for availiabity/access they never got. When they “rebranded” from LA fitness to Esporta they sold memberships under the pretense that it would be changing to a 24/7 schedule. the fact that the place is still closing at 10pm; apart from being totally absurd, is really disappointing and I’m
surprised there hasn’t been a lawsuit for false advertising or something 🤔

They really need to help promote a healthy lifestyle instead of a sedentary one. if the grocery store, fast food, and movie theater can stay open past 10:00pm, so can the gym. Likewise, planet fitness can stay staffed and open 24/5, fitworks is accessible 24/7 with key card access. Why can’t esporta figure it out?

I’ve been a member for almost 15 years but I’ll be cancelling my membership soon. I’ve seen literally dozens of former members at other nearby gyms who have cancelled or stopped using their memberships already.

Came in from Florida I went to my local esporta gym and it was fantastic managers and staff are super friendly and welcoming. I highly recommend going to the esporta in Crocker machines are great I can’t find anything to complain about. Will definitely be coming back!

Greetings...I have been visiting Esporta at Crocker Park Westlake Ohio just about every year for 5 years while on vacation. Rarely do you find a gym where each individual you interact with is genuinely kind and supportive. Erin and the team made me feel so welcome today that I was motivated to share and recommend you visit and enjoy an awesome work-out in a very positive environment.

Too much cardio, not enough machines or weight benches. Its ok if you come off peak hours but god forbid you get a workout at convienent hours. I assume owners just pocket cash instead of invest in bettering the gym experience.

Esporta Fitness has truly exceeded my expectations in every way! From the moment I enrolled, George made the process seamless and welcoming. He was incredibly helpful and made sure all my questions were answered. The highlight of my experience, however, has been interacting with Will, the General Manager. Will is outstanding—he is always kind, personable, and treats everyone with the utmost dignity and respect. The facility itself is immaculate; it's always clean and well-maintained, creating a pleasant environment for workouts. The members are friendly and supportive, adding to the positive atmosphere. Esporta Fitness is a top-notch gym, and I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a great place to stay fit and healthy!

I tried. I really did try to give this place a chance. It's location is SUPER convenient to my new job...it has a pool and I love swimming (the deck doesn't feel clean , they offer classes but at pretty inconvenient times if you are a working person...and not a great variety, the free weight area has an odor of old funky sweat like it hasn't been cleaned well in months or years, the dumbbells (if you can even get to use them) are few and far between and mismatched or the rubber protection is coming off on MANY of them, the showers in the ladies room don't seem to EVER be cleaned or restocked with soap...I literally kept an eye on the same clump of hair for 3 weeks in one of the showers- GROSS! There is a private womens workout room that hasn't seen a vacuum or revamped equipment in a long time and there is a broken mirror that is just duct taped over. Good luck finding any personnel to even talk to about this...or even getting someone to answer the phone. Such a disappointment. I've gone back to Planet Fitness and I'm so glad I did. Do yourself a favor and save the extra $20/month and go to PF where it's clean, we'll staffed and the amenities are worth what you're paying.

I want to thank the sales team for saving me a trip. Signed up for a Guest Pass Online. Within 5 minutes I've had 2 texts and a phone call asking "When am I going to come to the gym?" I don't know, man. I'm at work. Then I get a personal text message saying my guest pass has been "deactivated." Save yourself time, folks. Don't go to this gym. In town and the staff here was great helping me get situated to come in and get a workout. Honestly relieving to have staff somewhere problem solving with you to help you get a workout in rather than sending you away or charging $50+ for a day pass. Just gained a fan & future customer.

Nice building, generally clean, and the reception staff is friendly. The track on top floor is very nice. However, so much of the equipment is broken. As I write this, there is a hammer bench press machine with a missing back pad that has been out of order due to the missing pad for close to 4 months! (I would think one could get a new one from Amazon in a matter of days). Many of the ellipticals and treadmills do elevate or start. The water fountain on one of the floors has been broken for months. While the gym has started to replace some of the dumbbells - many are very loose and trashed with random pieces of rubber still attached. Many of the members do not unload the plates from machines and do not put away weights (dumbbells, barbells, plates) a lot of members drop weights (a reason the dumbbells are destroyed). Members often put a drink on a piece of equipment to reserve while they do something else. That said, I'm not sure there are many better alternatives in the immediate area.

This was the best gym around until they decided to get rid of their Kids Club. That was one of the things that made them stand out from the rest. Atmosphere was great. When a machine breaks down it usually takes them quite awhile to get things back up and running again. But that’s alright, plenty of other equipment to use. I will also say that they have the best and hottest sauna around as well! 2 stars because I’m mad that there’s no more kids club.

Expected more from this place. Many maintance issues, a lot of their equipment is broken and need to be upgraded. I will be cancelling after 4 months (so I won’t get a cancellation fee) and switching to planet fitness.

Matt the manager is wonderful as well as the staff! Clean and gorgeous gym with all great equipment. Great location and facility. We were visiting from Wilmington, NC, and given guest passes to use while in town. If we lived on the Cleveland westside, we would definitely become members!
