I wanted to share some concerns about how YClub is being managed. I need to drop my kids off by 7:00 a.m., but most mornings staff donโt arrive until 6:59 a.m. and are scrambling to open the doors. On top of that, the staff often donโt have keys to the building, which delays entry even further.
Because of this, I am consistently late to work. I believe this issue stems from poor leadership and lack of proper planning. For a program meant to support working families, itโs frustrating that reliability is such a challenge.

This YMCA in Liberty Township has become a disgraced to YMCA's, there's no one overseen that YMCA.
There's a trend of people sitting on the machines on their phones for up to an half hour, not working out, not doing reps, just sitting on the machines on their phones 30 minutes 35 minutes.
people use weights and bars and they just leave them sitting on the floor, doesn't matter how heavy they are they expect the other person coming along to put it back if they want to use those equipments or just stumble over them on the floor.
I've seen food sitting on the floor in the workout area. There is no order there, there's no one overseeing the facility to ensure that it runs in an appropriate order to accommodate all members.

This YMCA's poorly ran, a change of leadership might be in order over the last year guests go there and do whatever they want and no one takes them into account, they will sit on the benches on their phone for hours, they will take other benches and use it for their own purpose instead of its intended purpose, no one at the YMCA is making sure that these things do not happen. I've been coming to this YMCA for 10 years. It is poorly ran.

I drove from Canton to do Zumba when I heard Carrie was going to sub a class. She's the best! Your facility was impressive, and the ladies in class were great. As always, Carrie went above and beyond to give us an excellent workout while making it fun for all involved!

Be careful with Powell liberty YMCA, such a disgrace to the overall YMCA spirit!
Dropping my daughter off to Liberty YMCA as she want to practice her stroke in the pool (she has been with the swimming team for many years there). Asking for the wristbands at front as she is only 13, and one staff member asked me if I am staying and I said no but I need to go in and check to make sure she will have a lane open in the pool then I am getting back to my work, otherwise I need to drive her home and pick another day.
Daughter gets her wrist band but when I am heading to the pool the YMCA staff member signaled that I need to leave immediately, and I said again I just need to walk my daughter in and make sure everything is fine then leave, ironically she start to ask if I have a membership for this YMCA. I felt so absurdly, why I have to show my membership if I already explained multiple times and will be in and out in less than 2 minutes.
I donโt know if this is the typical practice for every YMCA, which I doubt and hope that is not the case. But I felt really disappointed that YMCA will allow such way for treating their members and families!

Walked in with my three kids today and was greeted immediately upon entry from three different people. Everyone was very kind and professional and Tom gave us a tour of the facility as it was our first time there! Awesome atmosphere and customer service! We can't wait to start coming regularly!

Amazing staff, environment, and community. They just redid most of the machines on the gym floor, but also have a lot of room for swimming, classes, yoga, fitness, running, sports, etc. This place has been around for a while and never disappoints. I do not regret my membership one bit.

The pool is a workout pool - a bit too cool even cold some days - several lanes for laps swimming and one larger open area for group water classes.
The work out floor is easily the best of any Y that I've been to since it isn't up a flight of stairs. While the others usually have an elevator to get up to the floor, this workout space is right there easy to see what is and isn't available. Though it is a smaller workout floor than some other Ys likely because it's all on one floor. They got some new equipment recently though and everything is well cared for.

This place is a dump! The equipment is old and broken down. Most of the machines hsve significant rust if them. The treadmill rattle. Lastly, it is overrun with middle schoolers that take too long on the equipment.

No place to do exercises on own.Im going through PT and looking to have place to bike then do floor,table exercises.Staff said could not use workout room #2.It at least had a bench I could of used.Big studio room had nothing but open floor.Very disapointing. Can't see this as being any benefit to me.Will be canceling my membership.

This place needs an entire make over! Most of their machines are rusted and even have broken parts laying next to them, everything is crammed into half a track loop, 3 of the 5 women's bathrooms are out of order and 1 of the working one didn't have TP, can't use the sauna in the middle of the day because they don't have enough life guard staff?? (I'm not going to drown in a dry sauna and last I checked only adults can use it so why can't we be adult enough to go in without a lifeguard???) and they don't offer locks to borrow while you're there like other Ys do. This place needs cleaned up!!

They have 4 family changing rooms ,but only one has bathroom and toilet in it and that too labeled for people with disability , so please make other 3 normal ones with toilet and bath room as in other YMCA s around columbus, and sauna is almost always cool. Please improve

This past week there was a medical emergency in the gym/workout area. The staff's handling of the event was professional and caring. The facility went into emergency shut down to prevent further emergency occurrences and handled the medical situation with compassion and efficiency. The staff gets eleven out of ten stars for their effectiveness and humanitarian aura!! Thank you! YMCA/ Powell membership.

This Liberty Twp Y is cleaner and better managed than the other one I go to. Liberty also has personal trainers, (the other one can't seem to find any to hire?), which is why I drive 50 min to go there twice a week. Staff are friendly and upbeat; the other Y, they're older, sitting in front of computers, and they're nice, but not outgoing and upbeat like they are at Liberty. I would make this my "home" Y if it weren't so far away!

This was our first time coming to any YMCA. Right off the bat the lifeguard was pretty aggressive as he jumped from his seat to inform us of the rules. Every 5 minutes he was yelling for us to be closer to the kids(within an arms reach). My kids are 5 and 8. My 5 year old was attached to my hip the whole time. However my son wanted to do his own thing. Once a new lifeguard was in the seat, the male lifeguard was STILL watching us from inside. After the 5-6th time of getting yelled at I finally said something to this lifeguard. He threatened me with his manager, told us we were more than welcome to leave. So when we decide to leave, he disappeared. He finally approached us and told us not to tell him how to do his job, rules are rules and if we don't follow them we have to leave. I honestly felt harassed at this point. I will be reaching out to Savannah to get a refund for my membership. Very uptight and upsetting experience.

We have been very happy with YMCA, but not today because of the lifeguard named Danny . He is very rude and ruined our time at YMCA. We have been swimming at YMCA, and so has my son who has his green wristband which allows him to swim in the lanes. We never had any problems. Today we went to swimming from 11am- 12 pm. This DANNY told us that my son needed to be re-evaluated and all swimmers with all central Ohio YMCAs who got evaluated in the past need to be reevaluated, which is a new rule starting on this Monday, but later we confirmed with YMCA that there is no such new rule. Another super nice staff who works at the front desk helped us and communicated with him. Danny still insisted that my son should not use the lanes with no reasons. He even said that he would ask me to leave multiple times. He is not only rude, but also a liar. Before we were pretty sure that we would love to renew our membership because my son enjoys swimming in their pool but now we will have to reconsider if we are going to or not. Sorry YMCA! This Danny guy certainly has to go!!!

So my honest review. All the staff here is amazing except for one lifeguard, Danny. He's awful. Be prepared to have the whistle blown 150 time within 5 minutes. Don't even think about fast walking because you'll get the whistle blown at you. Sam, Mary, devin and everyone else though are superb!! The only reason I won't be coming back here is because of Danny and his pettiness. No other pool around here will act like that. Sorry powell ymca but he's got to go!

Went to try this facility specifically for winter swimming for my 10&12 kids. Just okay. Very small area not occupied by lap lanes. Slide shown in pics is dismantled. Front desk said there hasnโt been a slide for โa long timeโ. The only open swimming area for kids is the former splash down area for the slide. Disappointing. No area appropriate for young swimmers like Iโve seen at other YMCAs.
