The place is so cold. Today the thermostat was at 55, in the workout area. The therapy pool is so cold. They say they are working on the heat. I’ll believe that when I feel the warmth.

I wish I cancelled my membership sooner, but many of the members are decent people and friends. Not too many nice things to say about the gym though, locker rooms smell, mold, water damage. The last year I was there the steam room was broke and the pool. Even the hand soap looks like it’s watered down. I’ve never seen hand soap with such low viscosity/thin. The sad part is they charge just as much as anyone else or more. No maintenance employees or upkeep schedule. I really have no idea management does all day. They own the equipment and some of it is as old as me, and I was born on 85. Hope this helps, it also seems like s lot of random 5 star reviews with no explanation around the time I wrote it. Imo fake reviews.

We left this gym due to the air not working for over three summers and the owner being too much of a cheap a55 to fix it right. The place smelled of mildew and was never clean. Several pieces of equipment were broken. For 115 a month for the two of is, we moved to Summa for clean equipment and air conditioning.

Booked swimming lessons here for my child. The instructors seem lovely but the place needs shut down for safety reasons. Horrified to have to walk my five year old past a poorly fenced 8 foot drop into an empty pool for her lesson. The roof looks like it's going to rust away

Save your money and go to a place where the management maintains the equipment, the roof and the pool. We have been members for years but we are not paying for equipment that doesn’t work, a roof that leaks whenever it rains and an empty spot where the pool once was. So sad to see this place in this condition.

Lack of maintenance. Long periods of time before machines or amenities are repaired. 5/24 Pool still closed.(12/23 closed) Cardio machines have one or more problems. Now the steam room is broken. The water fountain in the mens locker room drains into the garbage can and over flow to the flood. Health code violation.
2/10/2025 Main pool still closed. The front staff is lazy. On multiple occasions, I come into the gym ask for a locker that locker number they say is taken, however, there’s a large pile of attorney keys sitting there waiting to be put away . The staff just stares at their phone. Laziness.

My kids love their indoor warm pool and outdoor water slide. They offer private and group swimming lessons.

Their current COVID policy during the pandemic is mask is not required, but if you have a fever, cough, or any sort of sickness, you are not allowed to get inside. They have hot tubs and a whirlpool, too.

They offer Taiji, yoga, and pilates lessons, too. They also have a summer camp. Lap pools have been closed for months.

My friend and I signed up mainly for the pool which has been shut down the whole five months that we have been here. There’s other facilities shut down as well.

Management is also rude. I tried to cancel my contract after waiting 5 months and they essentially said it’s my fault for not talking to them earlier…

Way too expensive for what they offer. Also the sauna is built dangerously. They have dozens of metal screws sticking out, and it’s hard to find a spot you can sit without getting burned by the extremely hot metal. I do not reccomend!

It saddens me to say and have seen this!! Many happy memories many years ago! The one area that’s outside looked ok. But the pool and so I know season’s over was bad!
The inside pools . Just need a lot of improvements.
Overall staff ok.

Bought an outdoor pool membership this year and a bit dissapointed. First off no one ever told us that half the day is filled with day camps. So there is always alot of kids. From 11-1is one and 1-3 is another. Really wish they had a members only day or members only time. The other thing is there is no adults running the outdoor pool. The lifeguards are all young college kids that are too busy not caring. Several times so far this summer we have went and there has been trash in the pool. Wrappers, band aide, clumps of hair and bugs. I understand that happens but doesn't anyone skim the pool regularly? Never see anyone doing so. Definitely dissapointed considering how much we paid for a membership.

I was a member at LCP for a long time. We chose there at first because the facilities were decent and well-kept and - most importantly - my son could workout by himself once he turned 12. Over the years, the facility has fallen apart and they don't fix many things that are broken. The sauna or whirlpool are consistently out of order and the dressing area has no ventilation. It is hot and steam from the showers are present as you dress after a workout.
We found that during football season, my son and I couldn't use LCP much so we filed paperwork to place a 'hold' on the account where we paid a $20 fee or so to keep the account active but we couldn't work out there.
What I found was they are very difficult to deal with when it comes to adjusting or canceling your account. When you call, you almost always reach a voicemail. I stopped in three times and waited each time, yet nobody became available. When I finally was able to sit and talk with someone, they offered me a 'freeze' on my account for $20 per month where we couldn't use the facility, but the account would remain active. We talked about a freeze until the end of the year, however they only froze it for a month and began billing regularly after. I called to discuss and again received voicemails. When getting a call back the next day they again were unhelpful, unprofessional and basically said too bad the date they put on paperwork was wrong.
I've moved to another workout facility that is cleaner, friendlier, has better equipment and is basically the same price. So, in the end I'm thankful their customer service helped me look around at other options rather than continue to go to an old building with equipment that is falling apart.

Old, dirty and musty. That's pretty much all you need to know. We were members there for a year and after one month I knew we shouldn't have signed up there. The showers (at least the ones that work) have different shower heads and the locker room is hot an muggy as heck. So, after working up a sweat you take a shower and then get sweaty again trying to get dressed.
The only positive it it's relatively inexpensive. And it shows why.

Love this place. Highly underrated! Great pools, great hot tubs, outstanding staff.

There's barely ever anyone on the gym floor so you have free reign over all the equipment you want to use. Outstanding yoga and fitness class instructors.

Staff is universally friendly and welcoming. LCP hires a lot of young people who do an outstanding job and who deserve to be commended.

Full disclosure, there are frequent maintenance issues with the place that sometimes go a while without being fixed, like the AC in the upstairs exercise room, the bathing suit dryer in the locker room, hot tubs break all the time, etc., but management does a good job of at least trying to keep up with things and I'm sure some of that is out of management's control due to supply chain issues on parts and things like that.

Fantastic place overall!

If you are going to play basketball here, do not. You can call them to ask when the court is open and they will say it is open until whenever, and you will get there and there will be people doing exercise classes or pickle ball(this has happened about 15 times). One time i was there and regular people(no staff workers) where about to start an exercise class and they would not let me on to play just before they started. They did not even have any equipment out. This was supposed to be and open gym time too. This place overall is not good, and do not come here if you are looking to play basketball.

The equipment is not in the best shape and they are very slow to fix broken machines. In fact there is one piece that has been out of order since Moses was in short pants! And they can’t even pony up the dough for extended basic cable so no Indians games. The only saving grace is the other members and their friendly dispositions.

Left this place a while ago, but I had the same contract issues other people did and also hd very poor experiences with management. Seems like they really needed the extra membership fee they charged after I cancelled and wouldn't refund. Place is in a downward spiral for several years.

I'd highly suggest anyone reading this go elsewhere.

Lifecenter practices unethical policies.
When they sign people up, they go over a lot of material and have you sign a contract and give you lots of papers, telling you that when you want to cancel you have to physically go in and fill out a cancellation form.
Even though I signed a six month contract, they continued charging me for two months because I did not recall anything about the cancellation form.
Which most people don’t, based on the spiel that Sarah in Membership gave me. She flat out told me that most people don’t remember that, and it was clear from her tone of voice that she is used to giving the same speech on a regular basis, that “there is a clause, number 24, and we make everyone initial it but there’s a lot going on during signing so most people don’t remember it”.
So Lifecenter KNOWS people won’t remember this part of signing up, but continues to do it in order to rip people off. They refuse to reimburse the months they charged beyond my contract, (and we were out of town for one entire month we were charged for).
Sarah says they do it because they don’t know if people will want to stop their membership. Well, if I sign up for only a six month membership, that’s a clear indication I only want six months. And if I want to keep going, THEN I will re-sign.
This is such a total scam! I cannot believe a local business is so unethical.
I will never go there again and I would warn everyone against getting a membership there.

I have multiple kids currently enrolled in swim lessons. I was charged double for the lessons and have called numerous times to get the charge refunded but have still not heard back from anyone! Also tonight at the lesson a mother had to jump in to save her fully submerged 4 year old. The life guard did not even get up out of his chair to come speak to her. No one mentioned it almost as if they were trying to sweep it under the rug. Unacceptable. If you are a life guard on duty especially when swim lessons are occurring for small children you should be actively paying attention. Save your money and sanity and take your children elsewhere.

I have been a member at LifeCenter Plus since 1994. It's where my kids learned to swim. They actually have 5 swimming pools -- My favorites are the large 25 meter pool with lap lanes and the warm water pool with a lazy river indoors. Oh yeah and the whirlpool!

I love being part of their Spinning program -- going from being nervous about even walking into the class, to now one of the regulars in the group. I also like working out on the ellipticals but I end up watching TV instead of pushing myself!

Yoga, Zumba, aerobics classes and even the travel group -- I've tried a lot of different activities there -- but with hundreds of free classes every month, it's easy not to get bored with the same old workout routine.

I have been a member of a number of gyms including The Natatorium, Fitworks, Kent Recreation Center, and Fitness 19. There just is no comparison to how Life Center Plus "feels" compared to these other gyms. Life Center Plus is layed back, never uncomfortably crowded, people are friendly, and it offers so many classes and opportunities to work on one's well being. I have never felt out of place or unwelcome. My children have taken swim lessons and tried Karate. I have a trainer, whom I absolutely love, and I have tried Aqua and land Zumba. If you are looking for a family friendly facility where you can feel at home, this is the place. Another nice thing is that they provide towels, soap, shampoo, conditioner which make it super easy to decide to swim and not have to go through a big packing ordeal! For me, its been worth the price.

I love LCP. I have been a member 9 years. They have a wide range of options so as I have moved from just swimming to swimming, spinning, running, yoga and weight training I have been able to stay at the same place (and spend the same amount of money). There is still more if I want. For pure yoga fans you won't find anyplace else with as many great classes all included for one reasonable price (they have a yoga-only option for even less if you want). Use me as your reference (maybe I'll get a sweatshirt or something!)

★ 2

All in all, I'm pretty disappointed in this gym. For what you pay, you expect more. Life Center is almost 3-5 times more than other, newer gyms in the area. For starters, the elliptical machines in their environmentally controlled room have had problems for more than a year. Either the TV's don't work, the sound doesn't work, or the mechanics of the machine themselves aren't smooth. This isn't new. This has been a problem for a year. Pads on equipment that has ripped aren't replaced in a timely manner. (How hard is it to order a new pad and attach it to a leg raise / dip station?) Newer equipment, like kettle balls, remain locked, only for use with a personal trainer. And you've got to hope that the hot tub works or isn't cold. Then in the men's locker room, the hamper is broken. Really? You can't afford $5 at Big Lots to buy a new hamper?

Then the really rich part, if you want to bring your kid, they're going to charge you even more. We pay $100 a month to be a member at this gym, but I get better equipment at Fitness 19 or Fitworks for $10 a month. Sure the sauna and hot tub are nice (when they're on or working), but is it really worth an extra $90 a month?

Was a member here for about 3.5 years. My contract was only 12 months but continued to use the gym. We cancelled when we switched our billing and they did not accept Amex. Then about 3 months later i get a letter saying we owed them about $400, now today I get a letter from a collection agency saying we owe almost $800. The gym was purchased out of bankruptcy and there was always issues. You could count on the steam room and the hot tub to be down at least once a week and after a flood, there was always a mildew smell. They seem desperate for money now.

I've been a member since 2000, and it's a great club. It doesn't get too crowded, and you don't get the meat-heads in the weight room that you get in other gyms. I like it because you get a pool, a track, full cardio and weight equipment, and a wide variety of classes, such as spinning and Pilates, which are both great.

My kids went through swimming lessons, swim team, and numerous other kids' activities, including magic classes and balloon classes, and climbing the rock wall.

This is a great gym for an individual or a family.

Need to upgrade their wi-fi network. Weak at best. In this age of mobile wireless technology they are sorely lacking at this facility. Expect your internet connection to drop frequently in the middle of workouts while listening to streaming music, video or other content. Frustrating when it happens in the middle of your workout particularly listening to music. Such an easy but relevant fix...make it happen folks...
