While the staff and therapists at Lifeworks are amazing and the facility is clean, this review has to be negative. When it I was referred to physical therapy, I was told I could choose an office that was most convenient for me. I chose Lifeworks since I could easily get on the highway to go to work. However, if you are receiving physical therapy in this office, Southwest General will insist that the services are done at a hospital, outpatient services. PT is not done at a hospital, this is a gym that happens to have a therapy unit run by Southwest. I called Southwest last November when my insurance's EOB came out as a hospital service. I was told them my coverage was $30 each visit I am not sure why it is being coded as a hospital service. The representative said "that is weird I do not show a balance, let me talk to my supervisor", I was hung up on and never heard from them. So I waited for my bills to come in. Southwest finally billed me in June (Statement Date 5/27/25) which was 6 months and a week after Southwest sent the claim to Anthem 11/21/2024. Over the last three months, I called multiple times to the billing department with no explanation or answer after each coding review.
I just got done with my insurance about the appeal process. And what a STRANGE coincidence, the appeal process deadline was 6 months after the original claim.
Lifeworks also confirmed that even though it is a stand alone building, in a gym, with administrative offices, the physical therapy is coded as outpatient hospital service.
Southwest billing practices are deceptive and implore anyone who needs physical therapy to ask their insurance about their coverage prior. Because appealing will not be an option.

Had a workout class tonight with instructor Lisa. As a PT, she was super personable, knowledgeable, and my wife and I really enjoyed the class. We are new members to life works and the facility is very clean, calm, and has everything you need. Their hours are superb too. We enrolled in a two year membership. Definitely reasonable especially with how many free classes they offer.

I was really disappointed to learn that Lifeworks canceled all the classes I attended as part of their new summer schedule and offers no aqua classes after 5:30 pm. As someone who works full-time, it feels like the schedule no longer supports members with busy jobs and families.
On top of that, the facility itself is falling apart. The elevator is often broken, the steam room barely works, the hot tub is constantly out of order, and men have to walk through the gym to get to the poolβonly to be scolded for getting the floor wet.
We joined Lifeworks for flexibility and a quality facility, but both seem to be disappearing. If you rely on evening classes and expect a well-maintained space, you may want to consider other gyms.

I had a stroke and was referred to this place by a nurse. The first problem was my 1st appointment. I waited for 35 minutes pass my scheduled time. I was given 2 appointments. The 1st appointment was fair, but I asked about scheduling other sessions. I had an appointment on Friday the 26 of May. I called and wanted to reschedule due to mu mobility. When I tried to reschedule the appointment setter told me it would be July 18th. That would be 3 weeks

One of best gyms in the area, has all the equipment you need to straighten your body, lap pool, and warm water pool, sauna and more.
Stop in and see for your self, you won't be sorry.

Dave H is an absolute legend and one of my personal heroes. If you have been handed a diagnosis that is incompatible with your athletics and PT may offer relief, this man will show you how to fix yourself. You have to put in the work, but he took me from daily pain, to being able to compete and very likely postponed surgery that I have still in my future.

This place is incredible, and has everything you could want in a gym. Tons of free weights, cable and isolation machines, cardio stuff, pools, saunas, basketball, racquetball, basketball, tracks indoor and outdoor, you name it. Nicely maintained locker rooms, very clean with a friendly staff. My only wish is that we're open 24 hours like many commercial gyms so I could get in before work on weekdays or a late night session in. Would gladly sign a waiver and for this even just to get to the weights and cardio stuff.

Phenomenal facility, super clean and friendly staff. A friend recommended it so I got temporary pass and didn't want to leave after the months were up. They open early 5am which works with my busy schedule. The indoor walking track, the warm water pool and the jacuzzi are my favorite features. Locker room has built in locks and showers are stocked with shampoo, conditioner and body wash. I took my first yoga class this week. Great experience! I love that the classes are included in the monthly membership fees.

Okay so I signed up and went to Lifeworks gym for the first time today. This is the first gym that I was able to sign up for completely online, on a Sunday, and then could immediately go to the facility 5 mins later.
It is definitely the most expensive gym that I know of in the area. I signed up for the month to month membership and I am paying just shy of $74 per month. I think the year commitment is slightly less but not enough for me to take it over being able to leave if I suddenly need to for an assignment at work.
There are 2 real reasons that people hate going to gyms.
1. There are personal trainers who walk around with groups of people and take up all the equipment at once, get in everyone's way, and act like the most important people in there because they pay $200 a month for rep counters.
2. 135 pound high school / college aged males who stand in front of the mirror with their shirts off recording themselves flexing their malnourished abdominals for 45 mins on tinder / snapchat.
This gym didn't seem to have either of those 2 types of people. However, it was a Sunday evening and not very busy.
This gym has all 3 things I like. They have Rogue squat racks, an astro turf complete with prowler sleds, and a pool. They are the only place that I know of that has all 3 of these.
The locker rooms have a swimsuit drying machine that can dry your trunks in like 30 seconds or something.
They are also part of the hospital so if you crash a barbell on your chest they can wheel you over to the ER.

Just average equipment and personnel, nothing outstanding. It used to be MUCH better. It also used to have much longer hours. Closes at 9 during the week and 5 on weekends. Not much good for shift or public service workersβ¦
Your response proves my point. Not "Sorry you feel that way" not "What can we do to improve" not anything at all helpful. Just a snarky response to honest criticism. You need to work on customer relations...

Just recently joined in the last few weeks, I will say for the price, you do get a lot of different amenities. Comes with built in electronic locks in locker room, sauna, steam room, jacuzzi and a good selection of workout equipment and quite a bit more. Staff has been very friendly and helpful. My only concern I would say is the hours. For the schedule I have it would be nice if on the weekends it was open a little later, but otherwise I would definitely recommend here.

I have been going to Lifeworks on and off for 23 years. I have a free membership at a recreation center through work. However, Lifeworksβ facilities and amenities blow the rec center out of the water. Times that I paused membership were when I was too busy go, or was in a lazy rut.
The facility and equipment is always clean and inviting. The atmosphere is friendly and non-judgmental. Each locker room has its own whirlpool, sauna, and steam room. The lockers have digital locking keypads (no need to bring your own lock).
I see a lot of reviews that have negative comments about the price. You get what you pay for, and I think the membership fee is reasonable for what you get from it. Sign up for a free day pass and check it out. Youβll see for yourself what a great fitness center Lifeworks is.

I love LifeWorks! Reading some of the reviews, itβs frustrating. Yes, LW isnβt an inexpensive gym, but it also provides more than the βtypicalβ gym. Where else can you go that has a pool, hot tub, warm water pool, outdoor/indoor track, equipment, free weights and free water and land classes?? The employees are always nice, warm and welcoming. All the classes that I attended were all great, including the instructors. Management is always responsive to surveys; reviews and they generally care about our opinions. The gym is SO clean and the communication is great with their newsletters. There are always things you would want to change, but itβs just personal preferences. LW, keep up the great work and thanks for all that you do!!

The nicest and cleanest gym in Cleveland and the members are great. However, they have dramatically reduced their hours since Covid, so if you work till 5/6 or later good luck making it before close. O and donβt worry the locker room attendants will now open up your locker the second it hits 9 o clock and do their best to make you feel unwelcome. If you just want to use the steam room or sauna for a little bit before close good luck with that too because they shut those amenities down at 8:45 now. Very disappointing paying for a gym that you can barely have time to use.

Donβt know how to maintain the warm water pool. The temperature is never consistent. The pool is always dirty and rusty. There pool is closed more often than open.
They should keep an inventory of the maintenance and have equipment in stock if something breaks down.
Presently the pool has been closed because there waiting for a gasket. Thatβs ridiculous. Find a maintenance person who knows how to run a pool
Recently the pool was closed again for supposedly maintenance and cleaning. When the pool opened again it was still dirty and rusty.
Wish I had a job there then I could get paid for doing nothing.
The guards are lazy and on breaks more often then guarding the pool.
Think twice before getting a membership there. Your life could be endangered.
On top of all the disappointment there over priced for what you get.
The locker rooms are filthy and cold. The womanβs hot tub was closed broken for months.
I feel the management needs new people. Nobody cares what goes on there

My physical therapist here discharged me from Aquatic Therapy before I could reach the goals she'd set. Her reasoning was because I'd worked up to 30 reps of each pool exercise, I'd therefore "mastered the pool program."
Never mind that I can't stand long enough to do dishes at home, or that I can't walk for more than a few hundred feet, more than nine months after spine surgery. But, hey, I am welcome to join the gym for $800/year if I want continued access to the warm water therapy pool. π
I've had hundreds of hours of PT in my life, and I've never been discharged prior to reaching therapy goals. But then, I've never before had PT at a private gym. It seems the main focus at Lifeworks is on selling gym memberships, which strikes me as short-sighted. Lifeworks received much more than $65/month from my insurance company, yet they rushed to discharge me in favor of my buying a membership.

This place is WONDERFUL!!!
If something ISN'T clean, just ask/let staff know! They are more than accommodating!
Have one of VERY FEW Warm Water Therapy Pools in this area!!! πYEA!!!
Have regular pool, excellent locker rooms; Lockers nice & big, very clean showers (depending on daily guests, ofcourse. Not cleaned thoroughly til 10pm.)!!! Lockers have locks, towels r provided!
Plastic bags for wet bathing suits. (Water shoes recommended! Tiled floors VERY slippery) MUST wear bathing suit. No cut offs allowed!
Excellent Hot Tub w/Jets, steam room, sauna, plenty of showers, usually. π
Have walking/running track...
Great Classes in pools, on land, spin classes, yoga, pilates, the list goes on & on,... All sorts of machines, free weights, trainers & personal trainers...
(Oh, must have work out shoes! Not street shoes. Something other than street.)
Just call and ask what's available! (Tons)π
Also have whole PHYSICAL THERAPY Department!!! Very well staffed w/extremely knowledgeable ppl!!! π(If you have to start there, may still, not sure, but may, receive discount on membership. I did waaaay back in 2009!)
They are EXCELLENT, as well!!! They accept scripts from outside physicians, & several insurance companies. ( Outside of UH, that is. This facility is affiliated w/South West General, wh/in turn is affiliated w/UH.)
HIGHLY recommend the Physical Therapy Dept. bcz also do rehab in pool!!! π
Overall, i give this facility a 5/5 for cleanliness, friendliness & helpfulness of ALL staff!!! πππ They are here to help!
Refreshing place to be in an often not so nice world!
Restore yourself here!
Forgot! Even have masseuses!!! π
Just can't say enough good things about this place!
Off Bagley, on Old Oak Blvd. Next to Cuyahoga County Fair Grounds!!! π
Near SouthWest General! Turn Left at Light just Past hospital!
