My first visit here was for a community plant swap. After talking and mingling with the regulars, my husband and I were inspired by their energy and kindness to start lifting after our wedding. We've been training with David for almost 6 months now and are feeling fantastic!
After the first few sessions, we noticed our backs weren't hurting in the mornings anymore (even if our muscles were sore) and actually started looking forward to our morning sessions. David has helped us gain muscle, of course, but his attention to detail and focus on improving our everyday movements has made our day to day lives easier and given me the confidence and the ability to access my body's strength in any situation.
I've always wanted to incorporate consistent exercise into my life and have tried a plethora of activities hoping I'd stay interested. (Zumba, kickboxing, running, rock-climbing, lifting, aerials, etc.) Having a knowledgeable and enthusiastic coach has made a huge difference in integrating physical activity into my routine and David's passion for fitness and movement is contagious! I'm excited to continue training and achieving a life-long fitness goal; a pull-up! Let's go!!!

I've been training with David for a couple of months now and am so excited to be lifting again. I came to LPW recovering from a back injury, and David was able to meet me where I was and help build me back up. I feel stronger than ever before and am looking forward to continuing on my weightlifting journey.
David has cultivated a welcoming and clean space, and provides excellent direction that leaves you challenged while safely exploring different movements.

I have been training with David at LPW for almost a year. I came in with some athletic background, along with my fair share of existing mobility/injury issues. David has worked with me to tune up those issues, while also progressing to more intensive strength training tailored for my own needs. Weightlifting is supplementary for me for other activities, and this has been factored in every step of the way. David brings years of athletics and training knowledge to the table, and can help anyone from competitive lifters, athletes across different sports, and even those looking to just get in shape or feel better. I highly recommend checking out LPW!

This is by far the best gym I have ever been apart of!! David has taught me more about weightlifting in the past year than I had learned in the past 5 years of doing it at other gyms. His coaching style is different than I have ever experienced, you can tell all the coaches are passionate about this sport. LPW is such a welcoming environment, you will never get treated like a stranger here!

I learned about LPW because Olympic weightlifting is offered as a sport at Walnut Hills through LPW. My child started with no experience at all in Spring '23 and has continued through the summer and now into the fall
The trainers followed a structured curriculum for the first ten weeks, constantly adapting based on her particular movements.
As parents, we have watched our kid get stronger and more confident. I can tell this is the beginning of a path of understanding movement, training, effort, and growing as a person.
(She wasn't that into most sports she has tried except for this one. )
I really can't speak highly enough about this place. If anyone reading this is considering this for your child, all I can say is go for it!

I've had the great fortune of working alongside David and the exceptional coaches at Lion's Pride Weightlifting and Wellness. Its been 6 months working with David. The difference is crazy. Nothing hurts in the morning anymore. There is working out and then there's training with David. That is the crazy difference.
He has an extraordinary ability to quickly assess and train your connectivity, movement, range of motion, and strength. And he ties it in with the mental component that you employ and live throughout your day.
Add into it David's personality, attitude, outlook and smile - he genuinely focuses on you and your well being. This is physical training that bridges the gap into your wellness and everyday life.

When I think of LPW, I think Community. Everyone I’ve interacted with is kind, works hard and greets you with a smile. David had built something special and I’m grateful to call him my friend. We were introduced by a mutual friend and we connected right away. I met him when I was recovering from a traumatic loss. His encouragement and knowledge has kept me coming back for 6 months. Working with David has been life-changing for me. He's helped me notice areas of disconnection in my body and patterns of movement that affect how I feel on a daily basis. It's so much more than him coaching me to "do this or that" with my body to maybe succeed in making a lift. He teaches me the reasons why I am disconnected and how to improve it for not just weightlifting, but my daily functioning in life. I appreciate that he has a holistic approach to coaching (mind body connection!). I feel so much more grounded in my body and of course more confident in olympic weightlifting since working with him! It feels so empowering to re-experience my lifts in a healthier, more efficient way thanks to his support. I could write a novel about how great this place is but you should just come experience it yourself if you're considering it!!

It's simply outstanding. This is exactly what I wanted in a gym. Each of the coaches are impressively knowledgeable, have an infectious enthusiasm for what they do, and an uncanny commitment to helping you do your best. The community is warm and welcoming. I'd been doing crossfit for 5 years or so before I took my talents to LPW, and I've never enjoyed working out so much before. I want to come early, and I don't want to stop.
EDIT: 2.5 years in, my front squat max has gone up 20 kg, back squat max up 14 kg, snatch max up 7 kg, and clean and jerk max up 10 kg!

Working with David at LPW has been a life-changer, and I knew it would be immediately. He takes a whole body and mind approach that - for me - starts with rethinking how my body moves, where I place tension, and the importance of breath work, before moving into weight training. It is paying dividends physically, emotionally, and spiritually. A little over a year since we started working together, I feel so much better, I am stronger, and I'm absolutely healthier (my bloodwork hasn't looked this good since I started tracking it quarterly five years ago). My 10 year old daughter had been wanting to try weightlifting for nearly a year when we found Coach David. He does an incredible job of helping her slowly build up good form in each part of the two main lifts. He has a gift for explaining things to my kid easily, while making her feel confident and secure. She is excited for every session, and is looking forward to continuing for a long time!

At 55, I was overweight and out of shape. I went to David looking for work to help my mobility and functional strength. He did not disappoint. In the four months since I started, I've dropped 30 pounds, gained lean muscle, and am relearning how to move. David really knows what he's talking about.
Even more, he inspires you to work hard and when you do, he's inspired in return. He wants nothing more than to help you reach your goals, whatever they are. The man even checks on me on rest days.
The gym facilities are great --the building is massive. There are options to do any kind of work you want to do. PT? Yep. Olympic Lifting? Yep. Stationary bikes and rowers? Yep. It's all there. And if you work with David, you'll pretty much touch everything.
I'm looking forward to being a jacked old dude. Thanks, David!

LPW is awesome, and David is even better. My wife and I started going to see him after our wedding back in fall of 2021. He starts off by getting to know you and your fitness goals and then designs your workouts around those goals. As a 30 year old with back pain, I wanted to focus on improving that and form better overall strength. All I can say is David listened. Most days my back doesn’t hurt as opposed to every day before we started. I’m able to lift my bodyweight vs getting winded bringing the groceries up the stairs. Not to mention all the compliments that I get from my wife now. David will get you to your goals and then exceed them all while making things fun and enjoyable. He also doesn’t push you to the point where you hurt for days after working out. If my back is sore, we lighten the weights or change up what was planned. David has made an incredible impact on not only my fitness but my life as a whole.

I started PT with Coach David about a year ago which helped explain some limitations in my long-time yoga practice. There was so much more to learn about myself than I realized. My son, Newman, participated in Lion's Pride Weightlifting Youth Club for high school students. I asked him: "What are the top three things you liked about Lion's Pride?" Without missing a beat, he responded: "The trainers gave me individual attention. Even though it was a group, everyone got help in areas they needed it. The gym is rally nice, clean, it feels comfortable. And, the trainers are great! They really do care about you!"
As parents, my wife and I really appreciated the level of communication from Coach David. We noticed an increase in Newman's physical strength, his appearance and in his confidence level.

Great environment. I was plateauing in my own fitness journey that I started on early this year, while avoiding and working around a long list of injuries. When I came in and met with David I could tell these were things he wanted to address with me head on while also helping me meet my fitness goals. Lions Pride Wellness Center has helped me in my movement, mobility, and overall strength training. I can’t say enough great things about LPW. I am a runner and needed some strength training built in to my marathon training. I haven’t touched weights in probably 10 years and didn’t know where to start. I found LPW and started going about 8 months ago doing 1 on 1 personal training sessions with David . My experience has been nothing but wonderful and worth every single penny I’ve ever spent. David has changed me physically and mentally for the better. I learned about Lion's Pride Wellness Center when they collaborated with my sons JR High School to provide Olympic Weight Lifting as a sport! This has been a refuge for my son! The staff are amazing and I LOVE the feeling of community. I also utilized a few of the one on one coaching sessions with John (my son works with Coach David) and couldn't be more pleased with the results. This place is growing, and their impact is unmeasurable! Thank you from the bottom of my heart for chasing this dream!

Rehabbing an injury is never fun, but with Coach David, it has been educational, enlightening and manageable! Truth be told, I am a bit biased in this review, having been at Lions Pride since day 1. I met the owner, David Fairbanks through another local CrossFit gym. David’s enthusiasm and passion for helping people get stronger is immediately apparent upon meeting him. After working with David for a few months on the Olympic movements, I knew that’s where I wanted to focus my time.
When David announced that he was opening his own facility, it was a no brainer to follow him and continue working together on improving. From the humble beginnings of the wellness center, David has created something great, a community. With almost weekly improvements, Lion’s Pride continues to grow and reach out to the community. With a focus on wellness rather than niche fitness, David has opened opportunities for members to take advantage of nutrition assistance, personal training, mma, personal defense, meal prep, and more. There are plans short term and long term for improving the facility further by adding physical therapy and recovery opportunities.
I personally continue to grow by working with David and coaches Joy and Chris. Their guidance and knowledge have been vital for reaching my personal goals.
Whether you are a “seasoned” athlete, High school or collegiate athlete, or are just trying to get that beach bod, there is a program for you. The coaches are always supportive and celebrate wins with you. I’ve never felt talked down to, or made to feel inadequate. The coaches take the time to know their members and focus on achieving their goals.
I would wholeheartedly recommend stopping by the facility to check out the offerings. Stop by or schedule time to meet with David to discuss personal goals, faculty offerings, and vision for the community and future of the gym. Ask about the community vibes class on Sundays.
