We have been members of the JCC for a few years, and there are many things I like about it, but the hours are definitely not one of them. Their hours not only totally accommodate ALL jewish holidays but a) Don’t expect a text or email message about the 12+ holiday hours since you’re supposed to know them all (Oct 1 and Oct 2 this month so far & more to come this month) and b) Those limited hours every week (closing at 6 on Fridays & 5 on Saturdays make no sense bc they are related to Jewish celebrations which don’t start until sunset! So why then are they recognized in the summer when sunset does not occur until 8:00 or 9:00PM? Certainly they could find ppl that are not Jewish or non-practicing that are willing to work on those days in the summer or work on some of the Jewish holidays, but I’ve asked and they scoff at such a suggestion even though they have never tried to do anything about it! They don’t want to spend the additional funds. How is this being community-oriented, and inclusive to not bend on any of these restrictive hours throughout the year for your many members that do not recognize these holidays? Have they ever taken a poll as to how many people would be interested in extended hours or looked into if there are people available willing to work those hours? The answer to both is a resounding NO. No bc they don’t care.

Due to all the closings, the high cost of membership is hardly worth it to us anymore and is definitely not competitive with other gyms. So though it’s the club most convenient to our work and home and would love to keep going there, all the early and all-day closures, and the total indifference to members that don’t celebrate these holidays, we won’t renew next year.

I love the pool it perfectly for getting some laps in and just a nice swim in and they even do swimming lessons for kids and babies it’s a perfect size pool for swimming in. It’s so much fun. It’s worth getting a membership or even a one time pass ever ever since I got my membership. I’ve been going every day. I love the place. Everyone was really nice. And it’s really fun and it’s a very safe place to be with the high security and I feel very safe on there and it’s also really fun all of my family members love it

There's a picture of a gun on the wall of the hallway. Inexplicable support of violence is unacceptable. We will not be returning.

A very friendly and inclusive place. Not image-conscious in a good way.. Clean facilities, friendly staff, and a nice set of programs and classes. Can’t beat it for the money.

I’m a fan of the J - great programming (Book Festival, Film Festival, events and speakers. I have an awesome trainer, Brandon Colon, who I have been training with for 3 years! The fitness facility and instructors are terrific. I love the new Mindfulness class on Wednesday mornings. The Mandel JCC feels like home to me and to our whole family.

Love the J! It is an absolute gem! The group fitness classes are energetic, challenging, and downright fun—each instructor brings their own flair, making every workout something to look forward to. The personal trainers? Next-level! They’re knowledgeable, motivating, and somehow make sweating feel like a party. The pool is perfect for both serious laps or a refreshing leisure swim. But the real magic is in the people—everyone, from the welcome desk, managers and fitness staff treats you like family. If you’re looking for a place that’s equal parts results and community, this is it!

My Experience at the JCC

Overall, my experience at the JCC was disappointing.

While the facility is clean, which is important, the value for the price paid doesn't quite match up. I was a member for a few months before deciding to cancel my membership. The primary issues I encountered were with the gym environment and customer service.

Too often, people would occupy machines while on their phones, without actually using them for exercise. Meanwhile, staff members would be chatting amongst themselves instead of encouraging members to be mindful of others waiting for equipment. Additionally, many machines were either broken or felt like they were on the verge of breaking down.

One of the more frustrating aspects was the cancellation process. The JCC requires a 30-day notice when canceling a membership, which is fine, but the experience after canceling was far from smooth. During the cancellation period, they still give you access to the gym, but charge a small fee. When I went to use the gym in the last few days of my notice, my key card was declined. At the front desk, the staff saw that I had paid but seemed unsure why my account had been shut down. Although they said I technically shouldn't have had access, they were "kind enough" to let me use the gym for the day. They warned that I wouldn't be able to access it the next day, despite the fact I had already paid.

I didn't want to argue and just used the access for that day. After that, I decided not to return. Be cautious when canceling your membership and ensure your account is fully closed, as their business practices left much to be desired.

Love this place!

Best gym I've ever been to.

Super friendly staff, everything you'd ever want in a place.

Special days for women in the pool. Two full basketball gyms, indoor track. Pool, sauna wet and dry, whirlpool, special area to relax inside lockerooms (small added fee, also gets you in the some snacks, and coffee and towels)

Can not say enough positive things

While most of the staff are great, be prepared if you have a problem with a staff member as we did with a bullying lifeguard. They will defend their own staff against any member's concerns. Finding that to be the case was the reason we cancelled our 10+ year membership.

Nice place, but the classes are not at convenient times for people who work. Most classes are during the day. Even if there were some 5:00 classes, that would be great, but not having anything until 6:00 or 6:30 just doesn't work.

The male lifeguard is super unprofessional and rude in the swimming pool. He will ask you to make room for his friends when you are swimming in the lane ans it is occupied with two swimmers. He asked me to move to the open area. His excuse is that he wants to accommodate everyone. I think I am not a part of everyone. This happened twice in a week. That lifeguard doesn't know his job. Also, they have severe age discrimination.

Excellent family and staff. My daughter and son did a bunch of the JCC camps here over summer and really enjoyed it everything from horseback riding to sports and swimming. I’ve also enjoyed playing basketball here and lifting weights but now work out at Lifetime Fitness.

Good equipment and knowledgeable staff. Facilities, esp locker rooms, not always clean and often short on towels. If and when you cancel, make sure to get confirmation in writing or you will keep on getting charged. It happened to me and I didn’t catch it.

Very disappointed with the membership part of this facility. I signed my son up for a 3 month summer deal and continued to get charged for 18 months after that when it was SUPPOSE to be canceled after the 3 months (as I was told at the signing )and I finally realized it on my credit card . Not my fault someone didn’t do their job !

Today I began my free trial (7 days). I am pretty sure I am going to join. The prices are affordable and it is a well established enterprise. It is open to all people; it is not restricted to Jews. The staff is friendly and helpful. I am primarily interested in the pool. I was able to complete a 50 minute workout using exercises from physical therapy (aquatic). The pool is not as warm as they indicate. SO I will have to try something to keep my upper body warm. My legs weren't a problem. They have two hot tubs and I chose to sit in one (seemed cleaner than most) primarily to warm up. I enjoyed my first visit very much. I think it is important to bring your own towel or you'll need to pay extra for one.

JCC has become less affordable for full time working people. The best choice of classes are offered during work hours, but evening and weekend schedule is half empty, or the choice of instructors for the weekend classes is not as good. The cleanliness of the showers is quite questionable. The suggestions from the members are usually ignored. JCC used to be much better in all the aspects, but not anymore.

Good gym - open for those who are not Jewish too. Seriously considering leaving because of the music they play. Every night is 90's night. And while I do appreciate the occasional throw back music, hearing "The Macaerna" every time I workout is driving me insane ☹️
