Have been attending with multiple kids for several years. I appreciate that class days are flexible (it allows us to do tae kwon do plus other activities much more easily) and the instructors really allow for personal progress and growth. There is opportunity as students move up and get older for leadership and instructor opportunities which is huge! Instructors will meet your child where they are no matter their skill and natural athletic ability which allows for growth over years if you stick with it!

The staff of the dojo are always helpful and make the students feel valued as students of taekwondo.

We have been here with our 8 and 10 year old for the past 5 years. They have both grown tremendously mentally and physically because of the great instructors and fitness provided. Would highly recommend. It’s been a joy watching them develop. Big thanks!

My family loves Powell Martial Arts. Mr. W is a great teacher. My oldest son came here back when it was Village Taekwondo at a different location; and when my youngest wanted to learn Taekwondo we made sure to bring him to the same place so he could learn with Mr. W too. Even my husband takes classes here and loves it. He says it's a great workout. I highly recommend coming here whether your an adult wanting to learn and have a fun workout, or if you have a child that wants to learn too.

Great school and instructors are very helpful and attentive to kids. My son really enjoyed the classes, physical warm-up/cool-down games played before/after the classes. Instructors ensure kids are engaged in their classes.

My daughter, wife and I have been attending Powell Martial Arts (formerly Village Taekwondo) for 3 years. We started our daughter right before she turned 6 as we wanted to get her into a new activity. Very soon after, Mr. Weislogel offered a parent class once a week to try it out.

My wife and I tried it, did a couple of weeks and were hooked. We have been consistently attending 2-3x a week ever since. The whole family has recently become black belts as a result of being consistent with our class work and training.

We enjoy class. Our daughter joins us on "family" night for the Friday teen/adult class, otherwise we take separate classes. If you are reading this, you are likely researching Taekwondo schools in the Powell area. Things to consider:
- Powell Martial Arts is part of a franchise, which is a good thing. It means there are standards that have to be met. It also means there are local, regional and national tournaments, as it isn't a small franchise. You get better competition as a result and if you move, there may be a Taekwondo America school near your new home.

- There is a certain, very large franchise in the area that basically sells belts from my research and feedback from a former student who is now a black belt here. Do your research; a lot of time/money is involved. Just because a place is the biggest/best known does not make it better.

- Taekwondo America spars in ITF style sparing. The rest of the schools in Powell spar in WT (formerly WTF) style, which is sometimes referred to as "Olympic Style". After watching both, unless you are going for the Olympics as a sport, ITF style is better. ITF is widely considered a better self defense style of sparring. WTF wears chest protection for harder body hits, but barely uses punches. They also a point stop sparring style (one point stops the action). In our sparring and tournaments, the action doesn't stop just because a point is scored. This allows you to learn combinations and requires more stamina.

- Powell Martial Arts is a smaller school and has a more "family" feel to it. It doesn't feel like a big chain at all. Class times are also pretty convenient, which is important for working families.

- Mr. Weislogel is great with children. His instruction is easy to understand. He is patient when he needs to be and firm when required.

I recommend coming here and suggest trying a class.

Great school. I see significant improvement in physical and mental strength in my son in 8 months. Helped him raising his self confidence and true character building. And nice thing is he enjoys it.

Love this school! As a business owner I am particular about the work I do and always expect the best results. So happy to have found a school with the same values and expectations. Yes, I am an adult participant, and attended for a short time while in school in the area. I was looking for a great workout and the benefit of self defense skills was a plus. Also, being new to the area, I enjoyed the Village TKD family events.

It is a family business with over 30 years of combined experience. They LOVE what they do and always keep it interesting with new workouts, relays and practice skills. Their fees are reasonable compared to other schools. And, they have multiple class times available during the week.
Don't wait!!! Start now. I wish I would have 30 years ago or more....

Our daughter has attended classes for the last two years. We are very pleased with how they instruct the students and the progress she has made. Mr. W and his staff really care about the kids. Great environment for her to learn the proper skills.
