I love having my daughter enrolled here. Every year that she takes dance she is fortunate enough to have a class that is not overbooked so it's definitely a great learning experience for her since it caters to her on a more personal level.

Great people and great routines make MVDA the place to dance. You can choose recreational or competition level classes in several categories including but not limited to contemporary, jazz, hip-hop and tap. I used to go to a lot of dance shows in New York City (I had a friend who did modern dance, so I got to see a lot of interesting stuff). Some of the routines I’ve seen performed by students at MVDA are just as good if not better than the hardcore dancers I used to see perform in various spaces in NYC.

My daughter started dance at MVDA at the age of 6. She started with a tap/jazz combo class. She loved dancing, Miss Holly, and all the excitement of being on stage for recital. Every year at my daughters request we added classes and I was very impressed with her ability to do what she was being taught; so at age 9 she began dancing on team. She has been exposed to working with great, passionate, knowledgeable, and professional dance teachers through practicing the routines, master classes, technique classes, and intensives that have been offered. Now at age 14 the growth that she has experienced has been wonderful. My daughters passion is dance, and I will always be grateful to MVDA teachers for helping her grow and giving her the outlet to find her passion no matter where her "dance journey" takes her.....Regarding recital, recital is a time to sit back and enjoy not only your child dancing, but to enjoy and appreciate all the dancers hard work that goes into them performing on stage. Recital is very exciting for them. If you see good dancers then have that piece of mind knowing that you are at a studio that is capable of teaching your child to dance just as well.

My daughter is a former student of Miami Valley Dance Academy. She started dancing at the age of 4 at another studio. I started looking for a more nourishing environment for my daughter, as she was losing her passion where we were. We were fortunate to find Miami Valley Dance Academy in 2010. Holly and her staff are the epitome of professionalism and integrity. The staff mirrors Holly's loyalty to their dancers. They truly care about each and every student.

My daughter flourished at this studio in not only her dance skill, but her SELF CONFIDENCE and passion about her role as well. Today, she is not afraid to get up in front of a group to speak, sing, act or dance. I attribute this to the positive reinforcement this studio and instructors gave her during her years of dance there and the time on stage during competition and recital.

My daughter is no longer dancing, but playing other school sports. Her years spent at MVDA will always benefit her in life. I highly recommend this studio!

I have been working with Holly Cockerham and Miami Valley Dance Academy since 2009. I was first approached by Holly because she really liked my teaching methods and the way I was able to connect with her students. In the years I have been here I have seen so much growth in the small group of kids I have had the opportunity to work with.

I am originally from Indianpolis, traveled extensively throughout the US training and assisting choreographers, graduated with a degree in dance, and now am living and working professionally out of Chicago. I train everyday and spend what extra time I do have, traveling and teaching. I have committed to the program at MVDA because it has served as a place that trusts what I have to offer and am able to give to the students I work with.

My training is difficult and I expect a lot from my students. I want them to see what they are capable of. This has not always been "the perfect fit" for all dancers. I do work with a special group that personally seek the push. What I find extra SPECIAL about Miami Valley is that the program is open to dancers of all levels, all commitment levels, she serves to families of all different needs. If your dancer is looking for a place to take 1 class a week for fun, to dance and enjoy time with peers, MVDA is for you. If your dancer wants to perform several routines in the yearly recital, MVDA is for you. If your dancer wants to compete, MVDA is for you. If your dancer knows they want a career with dance- or if thats what they see for them now, MVDA is the place for you.

We have a judge free zone with teachers and educators of all calibers anxiously awaiting students of all levels to be pushed and inspired. We share a love for dance & it shows. I'm very lucky to call MVDA a home. I'm very lucky to have Holly trust in my visions and artistic guidance for the ones that desire the push.

I guess everyone has different experiences but MVDA has been great for our 9 year old daughter who has been dancing for six years. We were extremely lucky to have started in a truly wonderful studio (Dance Images in Methuen, MA if you live in Massachusetts), and after moving to Ohio, we are so happy to have found another friendly, professional studio. There's a wide spectrum of opportunity from casual recreation, to team competition, and even more advanced technique classes. The owner and instructors are always helpful and really, you just need to take the time and trouble to ask about times and appropriate levels etc. I certainly have no hesitation in recommending this studio

I have a few things to say..whoever wrote the bad review...is a joke....My granddaughter Emma has been in dance now for 6 years..she is now 9, started at 3...I could not ask for a better dance studio, these teachers are so great with these kids..and they DO teach them so much...Emma has learnt so much from them, they don't only teach them, they also care for them and it shows...Holly, the owner is a wonder person..Knows what she is doing, always up to date on everything, very professional....I would recommend this dance studio to anyone...believe me, when it comes to my granddaughter, who I have had since she has been 3 months old...I am very picky who I trust and who I let teach her....These teachers work so hard, Thank you guys for caring the way you do.....

This is the worst dance studio I have ever come across. My 7 year old daughter attended this past year (2014-2015 school year) and I knew from the on-set that is wasn't of the caliber I would prefer but it was close and not super expensive, so we went for it. I have regretted my decision ever since. First off, they don't actually teach your children dance steps. They just have them repeat and follow the teachers, which are actually students. Then, there was the recital, which isn't really a recital, more like an opportunity for the dance teams, teachers and these random three Colvin sisters to come out on stage over and over again to show us how great they are at dancing. I DON'T CARE ABOUT THESE PEOPLE AND THEIR 10 PERFORMANCES TO MY DAUGHTER'S 1 IS RIDICULOUS. Plus, the rehearsal for my 7 year old lasted until 12:30 IN THE MORNING. Then, on the day of the performance, we started and hour and a half late and still went for 5 hours. I never met the owner of the studio and I have no idea how she has stayed in business as long as she has because the organization and quality are just not there. Save yourself some agony and keep your child as far away from this studio as possible!
