I love the updates in the fitness center. It would be nice to have another fitness center monitor because the fitness center tends to run smoother that way.

There is a great sense of community not only from the staff, but the members who go as well.

There was a man walking through the women's locker room once and I informed a staff member. Since then, I've noticed an increase in locker room monitoring.

I had one of the most wonderful experiences at a YMCA. I signed up on veterans day, no relation to signing up, actually forgot it was, they had buttons, bracelets, a small buffet with breads and sweets, they we're some of the nicest people, even the guest were really nice. The gym was very rusty & dirty & there was not a way to clean the equipment when you’re done. The staff seemed annoyed with me & I didn’t even get a tour of the gym didn’t even know where anything is. Just felt over all uncomfortable & unwelcome here. Facility old but is kept decent and equipment is fine. The hours are terrible if you are a working adult (unless you like to work out before the Sunrise). There are a lot of unsupervised Teens in the Hot Tub/Sauna/Locker Room taking pics and Videos. I have also experienced people putting oils on in the Sauna which is crazy dangerous. God forbid that oil gets on the floor and you slip and fall on those hot coals. Staff is super nice but definitely need to Monitor the premises more.

Terrible!! The employees were very rude from the start I walked in..people were setting naked on the counters in the bathroom..felt like a prison when I walked in the locker room .kids running wild unattended...it seemed as if families were taking baths in the pool .it was so filthy I'll never go there ever again.

The YMCA of Central Ohio does not care about this location and its members. Its attention goes to the shiny suburban locations while the central city locations take what they get. The place is not well maintained. The locker rooms are in disrepair and they haven’t had hot water in weeks. The hot tub is regularly out of order. Today, the treadmill I used had a layer of grime all over the screen and the free weight room had lots of dust everywhere. Regular cleanings would make up for the lack of decent equipment. Security in the lot because of constant car break-ins. This place is so convenient for me, so I hope it can improve.

DO NOT use their elevator!! We had the most traumatizing experience of our lives with our newborn baby and kids stuck inside the elevator when it decided to stop working and we couldn’t get out. It’s the tiniest elevator and honestly felt like we were losing oxygen by the minute. Thank god we had our phones working and were able to call the front desk staff and 911 because after pressing the alarm button it took a few minutes for someone to hear us. We finally had staff knock on the other side of the door and to our surprise it was someone asking what floor we were on but when I asked how we were gona get out or any sense of reassurance they did not respond they only knocked on the door a couple more times and kept asking what floor we were on despite letting them know already. Thankfully I also called 911 who had already been alerted but when I asked if they had a key they said they were looking for it. On the other phone YMCA staff also mentioned that they were not sure where the key was so in the most terrifying time of our lives both 911 and YMCA did not know how long it would be before we could get out. Thankfully someone finally found the keys about 20min later. I asked if this had ever happened or what their protocol was and it seems they had no protocol despite someone else also getting stuck in there recently!! This is so dangerous and most of us who use elevators are parents with babies or people who are disabled. The issue with the elevator should have been remedied 100% or at the very least someone should have put a sign and made sure no one used it again until it was tested and cleared. I’m so incredibly disappointed on how it was handled and all we got was a “sorry about that”, from a lady at the front. No one seemed to really even care.

My cars window was broken and they went through my car. Its not the first time they do this at the ymca it has happened to other people there other times and the staff has failed to let anyone know of what’s going on because they don’t want to scare people but I feel like they should put up signs of what’s going it’s not fair we come out and find out window shattered and our belongings missing. I don’t feel safe coming to the ymca anymore they have cameras outside but still didn’t do anything when they were breaking car windows.

I went to this Y with my brand new car. While there, someone tried to pry off the emblem on the hatch of the SUV. There are two camera’s in the parking lot that should have recorded it. I spoke with three staff members, left a message for a director, and sent a message through their website. NO response!! It is not a safe place to workout.

I really appreciate how the staff interacts with me on a personal level, e.g. addressing me by name. I typically go to Grove City Y. But because of work I have been going to the North location. I usually stay in the fitness center while I'm there. It is very clean. A lot of the other Ys I go to have a lot of broke equipment. That is not the case at the North Y. The staff is all amazing and very helpful. I really hope I can continue to go to this one. If your looking for a workout gym for sure look else where. Iv seen a line of kids waiting to jump on the assisted pull up machine like a bounce house, and another time a group of kids pouring water on the treadmills to try and get their friends to slip off, having fun, terrible gym atmosphere. The people that do lift have zero gym ediqute and all the machines will have weight always piled up on them, dumbells scattered everywhere, everyday. They don't have anything for calves, no peck deck, cross cables, hack squat, etc. Saying that they do have wildly expensive plates lol. On top of that I heard of multiple payment issues with the auto pay. I put in my last month notice and when they tried to take the money I had it shut off, so I paid a 20$ late fee plus the month and just went in to exercise and was told my membership was cancled, even though it was clear as day I had paid and I showed on my credit card she said I needed to pay for a day pass and she would figure it out but wouldn't let me in without paying. It's w/e bc the gym is awful anyways but it was flat wrong I just gave 67.50 for this month through the 20th, I obviously disputed it with my credit card company. Oh if ur going for the sauna in the locker room it's a normal dry sauna that is kept at a max of 135 degrees so if u know about saunas that isn't hot enough for a regular dry sauna, trust me look elsewhere. Okay im done.

This place was our family's safety meeting place. If anything happens we would meet here. One year our community power was off for 2 weeks and we used this place to bath and charge batteries. Also we worked out here regularly. Had mom and me classes and many other type of programs. the staff even came to my son's commitment ceremony. Moreover the local news station filmed both my boys there. However, it is time for an upgrade. It is getting very run down. Very run down. Mold and things need to be not repaired but replaced upgraded in the locker rooms.

Horrible experience. I just walked out the building. I just moved into the area from Westerville. Deciding upon The Y, Planet Fitness or go back to LifeTime Fitness.

A funny built bigger top muscle with smaller body black man who wore glasses continuously harassed me. There was an employee at desk who helped me with a guest pass last week. I’ve never been a member & I had questions.

As I was walking out the door the black man in glasses says really loud, “She was going to finesse you!” I walked in because that was a rude comment. The guy was so rude I said that he had to be the young man’s boss. The guy then proceeds to tell me to leave. I did nothing wrong. I’ll definitely go to Planet Fitness or back to LifeTime Fitness. The Y is supposed to be a community inspired place, not a place to be yelled & falsely accused of trying to get into the gym membership for free. The managers behavior was preposterous! I even said, “No sir, buy everything myself.” He responded, “I can tell” he’s just rude for mo reason.

It leaves more to be desired. The women's hot tub is always closed due to fecal and menstrual contamination. When the women's hot tub is opened, some women get in without showering off first, they wear only a shirt so you see everything despite trying not to see anything, they wear full body burkas and sometimes, they hop in still dripping sweat from the sauna.

The steam room has needed a part fixed on the boiler for over six months, it's been shut down ever since. Kids run wild, bullying & foul language are a problem. Dirty facilities; on the small side but hey, no murders in a while.

Stuffy air quality and it has graduated levels of funk depending on where you are, the basketball courts being the funkiest smells ever. The staff allow the most ridiculous attire into the basketball courts, pajama pants and Crocs instead of sneakers; to other types of non breathable clothing... some kid got injured last month.

The YMCA North is in an aging building with some amenities no longer functioning as when designed and first constructed many years ago.

Having stated the obvious, I want to share that the staff members are knowledgeable and eager to assist you with selecting the appropriate program to meet your short-term or long-term fitness goals.

I am rejoining the YMCA after 20 years hiatus. I am completely satisfied that the available programs and services are able to assist me to meet or exceed my fitness goals for 2023 and beyond.

I love to swim and utilize the pool when available.
I recently had a one on one consultation with the fitness director Kelly Gray. She took the time to walk me through each machine in the fitness room drawing up a workout strategy around my needs and ability.

There is a free weight room for the enthusiast who prefers them.

There are a variety of classes if you prefer the accountability and social setting of groups like Spinning or Zumba classes to mention a couple.

There is a gymnasium and marked track for anyone who prefers to walk.

After a solid workout, I like to soak in the hot tub then into the sauna.

The hot tubs and sauna are located in the men's and women's locker rooms designed for convenience and privacy.

My review would be 5 Stars if the building was in good shape functioning as designed.

As previously stated and worth repeating, the available programs, the friendly, energetic, and knowledgeable staff are well worth considering the YMCA North for your fitness goals.

I joined this Y because of the fact they advertised having extensive pool hours for lap swimming. After joining, I discovered this was not the case, with their available pool hours being as low as 4 hours a week on some occasions. On top of this, when you cancel your membership you get charged for an additional month for services that clearly aren't being delivered. Overall I am quite unsatisfied.
