I have been going to PWC for many years. The staff are friendly, and I've never felt judged or intimidated by anyone which i cannot say of other gyms I've belonged to.
I do the semi-private training and I like my trainers. They provide challenging workouts that are appropriate for me and my goals. They are knowledgeable and helpful in making sure I do the exercises correctly so as to get the most benefit without injury.
Now for my mea culpa. Recently, I provided a review I've since removed noting my frustration with the cleanliness of the training room and the lack of AC on the 4th floor. I was frustrated and should have gone to the owner directly. He phoned me and we had a good conversation about the situation and the issues have either been resolved or are in process. I sincerely appreciate his taking the time to talk to me about my concerns. A lot of managers at other businesses wouldn't do that. Thank you!

I like this gym for the equipment and the two workers who are always there is nice. It’s not bad if you don’t mind there somehow always being an 80yr old goofing off on the machine next to you like a toddler. It’s like they start across the entire gym working a completely different bodypart and somehow end up right next to you working the same thing you’re working. It’s uncanny, and sometimes smelly, but they don’t bother you, so, whatever I guess.
Don’t ever try to superset 2 machines at once though, or an 80yr old doing bicep curls WILL walk across the almost entirely empty gym and up a flight of steps to take the Leg Press you’re trying to use (there’s 3 other similar machines) for a set of 80 half reps that takes 20 minutes. It’s fine though… good equipment ig…

Great gym. 24 hours. Really cool indoor track. One gripe is I’m used to always cleaning equipment and working out at night there’s never wipes left to clean. Now, I’m not getting sweat all over the machines and am a clean person..but it still makes me feel like a jerk. Not to mention I have no clue what grossness I may be sitting on 🫣 This is the only reason I removed a star.
I can’t speak for the men’s area, but I do see comments about smell. It is an old building for sure..but I have a very sensitive nose and have had no issues so I can’t say what that’s all about. I don’t feel the gym is dirty in general either. Sauna is always on in the women’s side.

24 hour gym, but the sauna gets turned off? This has happened too many times for me to brush it off.

They have equipment, that's about it. Gym really smells like sewage at times. Most of the time smells musty. Dirty place to work out at. They do not enforce people putting back their weights. Half of the gym is inaccessible. I'd find a different place to work out.

One of the best gyms around. What I enjoy most is 24/7 access and the price, not to say the equipment.👍

I wanted to love this gym
I really did. But there are major upgrade and cleanliness issues
1. The mens room has had the same dried up urine stain on the floor since i signed up.
It has never ever been cleaned up. It just continues to smell and get worse when walking by the urinal.
2. One of the members brings their dog
I was on the upper floor and the dog lost 8control of its bowels. It was not solid either. It was straight liquid. It was on carpet to
The owner just soaked it up with cleaning cloth. Gross.
3. I am the only one i have ever seen clean the machines after use.
No one
Not one person have i seen do that.. gross
4. The mens locker room is really dark and honestly does not feel safe at all ..
5. The overall set up of the gym isnt practical
The vast majority of the resistance trainers are upstairs. Most people who use resistance trainers are older and that makes them have to go up the stairs to the fourth floor as there is no elevator.
I ended up at planet fitness. Better machines. The facility is much much much cleaner. People seem to care about the facility.
The owner of pwc is from the east side of Cleveland which already has a history of lack of cleanliness. Guess he just brought it with him..
Its not a good look matt when someone joins and leaves within a month because they feel the facility isnt clean.
You offer great equipment but you have to keep the facility up and make sure the members do as well..
Your front desk staff is great...
Just got monitor the members

Needing updated and improved equipment overall. Good atmosphere and fair price, yet “band aiding” small issues that would be fixed with new products that are highly needed. Although most days are great here, somewhat recently suspiciously missing items in locker room over time (belts, supplements, hoodies etc…) Will continue to come regardless, just hoping for some upgrades as it is well needed. (Update 3 days later)- Full thing of ryse pre workout stolen within 12 hours of leaving it in locker.

I've been a member at your facility for a little over a year, along with a few family members. I just want to express my appreciation for everything you all do and offer. Your facility is always clean, everyone is extremely friendly and helpful. Your receptionist are always kind and greets everyone with a smile, it's always an uplifting energy when I walk in and when I leave after my workout. I especially want to express my gratitude for you all personally signing and send me a card wishing me a happy birthday. It really means a lot and I can't thank you all enough. Things like that really mean a lot to people and again I just want to thank you.

I will never go back to this gym. The gym looks and smells like it has never been cleaned and there are plenty of other gyms around with much nicer equipment. Once you sign up for a monthly plan good luck getting them to stop charging you. Moved away and tried to call numerous times with no answer. Tried to cancel my membership online, which is pretty standard for most monthly subscriptions, with no luck. The lady that I did talk to about canceling my membership was very rude.
Update: I appreciate your concern to try and address these issues in a manner that prospective clients would disregard my initial review. However, for those that wish to begin going to this gym, just know, you have been forewarned. I called many times during hours of service to cancel my membership with no answer. To say that my claims are "simply untrue" is very negligent as you were not there during my numerous attempts to cancel. Like I said before, there are many other gym options that will provide much more for you than this gym. A year later and I can still remember the smell of the gym.

Two weeks ago I was shopping for a new gym and I went into PWC. My plan wasn’t to sign up but just shop around. I was greeted by Mary who was super friendly and she showed me around. Mary did such a phenomenal job making me feel welcomed I signed up.
I recently moved back to Akron after living in Arizona for ten years. I've been a member simultaneously at different gyms for various reasons. I must say Personalized Wellness Center holds up with the best of them. After being a member for two weeks at PWC and coming in at different times here is my sincere review.
🔵1. PWC has a nutrition bar where they make fresh smoothies and offer supplements. (get a fresh smoothie after/before working out)
🔵2. PWC is open 24/7 so you can work out at your convenience.
🔵3.PWC has free weights, bicycles, treadmills, ellipticals, a track and a ton of machines.
🔵4.PWC also has a daycare for kids,a rehabilitation center and also personal trainers.
🔵5. PWC has a practical and reasonable monthly subscription
🔵6.Mature crowd
🔵7.Sauna
🎯I've been to gyms on the west coast were you pay $129 a month and gym's were you pay $19 a month. It's the same workout, whether you pay 10k for a rolex or ten dollars for a timex they both tell the same time.
🎯The more expensive gym's, yes did have newer equipment, fancier tv's, state of the art sound systems, big smoothie and supplement stores.
🎯At the end of the day your body & health transformation depends on YOU!! You have to go into the gym you have to lift the weights, you have to get on the treadmill and you have to want it.
Typically not always but typically those big "franchised gyms' it's more of a social hour and people wearing too much cologne/perfume. That doesn't happen at PWC
I highly recommend PWC it has everything a big franchise gym has but yet gives you the at home feel

Owner is a creep. Equipment is out dated. They spend money on Nautilis equipment that you can’t use, unless you pay extra. Highly recommend going up the hill to Esporta. They’re half the price and the equipment is night and day.

A very mediocre gym. Cardio equipment and the resistance machines are starting to show their age. The free weight area is pretty crowded. Nobody seems to rerack anything during unstaffed hours.
I would recommend unsubscribing from the mailing list. Matt and the staff like to constantly spam you via text and email with an inane newsletter pushing their personal training services.
If you don't immediately fill our their surveys when they send it out they will hound you about it until you do. As you can tell I am grumpy and annoyed by it.

Not safe after the staff is gone. I have been a member for over 2 years. We dropped our membership after in July after the issue of safety could not be fixed. They have someone who props open the doors so you can walk in the building and go straight up to the track without having to use your key card. After bringing this to their attention, I was told it wasn't possible to get up their without the key card, but they would look into it. I have a video of myself walking in the back door of the building and all the way up to the track with no key card scanning at all. Due to not feeling safe, we decided to let our membership go.
Now for the last month I've been trying to reach Matt the owner and have been completely ignored. This is a terrible way to end a membership. I highly recommend, especially women, not to sign up with this gym at this time.

Paid for a trial membership for 21 days. But my information was put into the system wrong and no one seemed to know how to fix it. I couldn't register for classes and my key card wouldn't let me in the door. I emailed and called about it but no one replied back to me. So I paid for something I didn't get to use.

I have tried most of the gyms in the Akron / Cuyahoga Falls area, and there is not one gym or fitness center even close to PWC. In one year, I lost 15 pounds of fat and gained 10 pounds of muscle - this was when I was over 40 and thought it was no longer possible. I watched dozens of people transform themselves and become truly healthy for the long term. PWC teaches correct fitness and nutritional habits for people who want to change their lives forever. PWC trains my children for sports performance as well, which has helped them become elite athletes.

There is no finer place to exercise! The instructors and trainers are very knowledgeable -- and even better - they have the ability to make working fun ! This is not a gym for critical, elite snobbery.... there is no feeling of intimidation there. Everyone is encouraging and no one is judgmental. It's a comfortable environment -- with every level of intensity available....from Silver Sneakers for seniors to a very strenuous "boot camp" -- and everything in between. The goal is clearly customized to produce a workout appropriate for each client. Nikki and Kim are two of the finest trainers and instructors. .I don't know her name but I'm told that the woman who teaches yoga is also fantastic! Dave is so welcoming -- and Matt is conscientious and always meeting and exceeding the high level of customer expectations.
Being in a silver sneaker class myself, I look forward to Monday, Wednesday and Friday sessions with people who have rapidly become friends. It really helps to keep me enthused about never missing a class if I can possibly make it !

I've been working out here for over four years and I've never regretted my choice. I visited and tried out other gyms in the area but chose the Wellness Center (RP Fitness when I joined) because of the people. The management/employees have created an environment that is very conducive to long term engagement and success. It's a fairly large space and they offer just about any kind of equipment you could ask for. However, there are many gyms I visited with similar or better accommodations. The difference is the people. Since starting at RP Fitness years ago, I've invited friends and family to come and check it out and every single one of them joined and still works out here.

I am the typical yo yo dieter. I'm either all in or all out.
My typical way to lose way is eat little and run. That gets boring.
So i stopped running and started "bad" eating and you know the rest of the story.
I had received an email from Matt offering for me to check out the program.
This program appealed to me because of the accountability, nutritional guidance, variety in exercise,
muscle gain, and no boredom. I used the 24 day challenge food guide to the letter.
The greatest benefit was not just weight loss. It taught me what I could eat,
recipes that are healthy, and how and when to eat. I now love spaghetti squash!
Meeting with my personsl trainer each week and hearing her delight in my weight loss
and increased strength was my greatest motivator. (My husband being so delighted was 2nd).
The friendship and support of semi-private classes keep me motivated to keep coming and trying harder.
I have lost 26 lbs. since mid August and have the goal of 14lbs. additional to achieve my life goal!
I know with the continued support of PWC I will achieve that.

DO NOT join this gym if you know how to work out. The majority of the people that go here have no idea how to work out. Also, the lack of gym etiquette is astonishing. Half of the staff isn't very friendly either.
Three of my friends and I have all left this gym due to one particular individual. This particular individual spends "his" entire day in the gym, thinking he is working out. Examples of his lack of gym etiquette include: using an ab wheel in the free weight area, using an ab wheel in between the cables, placing his initialed towel on machines to hold them while he eats in the locker room, having social hour while occupying machines/benches/weights, placing his fanny pack and ab wheel on benches that he isn't using, not re-racking his army of 25 lb plates, incorrectly doing every exercise ever, and "working out" in front of racks of barbells so that nobody else can use them. If you still don't know who this individual is, he wears a pretty sweet bandana to the gym every day. (PS, if you have to use a lifting belt to bench press, you're probably doing it wrong)
One could only hope that management will some day realize how much money they are losing with clients leaving due to this one individual.
On the bright side, this was a great place to workout when the ignorant lifters aren't present.

Britta..."In the last few months I’ve been doing FIT I’ve lost another 10 lbs, but more importantly I’m seeing my body change. Now not only am I losing weight but I’m gaining muscle, increasing my endurance, and gaining a new found confidence in myself. In my weight loss journey these last couple years PWC has played such a critical role – everyone I come into contact with is so supportive and encouraging, they really give me the confidence that I needed to push myself that extra mile."
