Overall ok. Definitely improved very nicely with new equipment. I was impressed by that. I went tonight at 1230 am (I’m crazy I know). It was a 20 minute drive and already had pre workout in me. Yesterday was a holiday but on the websites holiday hours, it said November 28: 12 am-9pm and it was locked and no one was there. It was a long drive for nothing. It’s not a huge deal but little things like that do matter. Maybe they mentioned in the gym that the hours are different but the website really should reflect that. Also, with a few VERY NOTABLE exceptions, most of the employees seem so disinterested in helping you out and look annoyed if you ask. It also seems like the responses to complaints feel so… robotic and corporate if that makes sense. “We here at planet fitness aim to provide a quality experience and facilitate positivity all while keeping our record numbers in cleanliness and affordability…. 🤖”. Idk I feel things could feel more personal there. But very nice people and equipment is good so you’ll get a solid workout.

I just wanted to share how grateful I am for my experience at planet. Over the past 2.5 years I lost 50 pounds and so much of that success is thanks to the welcoming staff. Jon and the team are amazing! the people there are always encouraging and the consistency this gym helped me build will stick with me for life. Now that I’ve reached my goal and set up a home gym as a gift to myself ive cancelled my membership but even that process was super easy despite the reviews that had me super worried. i’ll always be thankful for pf for being such a big part of my journey and I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a comfortable encouraging place to get started!

HORRIBLE experience!!! The manager John said a Black Card membership would be prorated to the 17th of September, with NO STARTUP FEE so just $15 due today (Aug. 30). But nearly the moment I arrived, just a few minutes after our phone call - he TOOK OFF. And the young lady in his stead acted so rude and nonchalant about my telling her what he had told me, I walked out. And she said she didn't know when he would be back and said texting him would do no good - he rarely responds! Just HORRIFIC customer treatment.

I have been to several Planet Fitness' and the Athens OH one is the WORST. I usually go to the 30 minute workout area and in Athens they are permitted to just work on the same piece of equipment however long they want. So usually I can not finish all the machines, because people are just using the equipment to take selfies or chat on their phones. They have a sign up saying that it is a circuit and the room is monitored - but it isn't. Just a bunch of young kids there to take selfies is my impression and the staff is fine with it. NO THANKS!

I might be spoiled by our home planet fitness in Lancaster, but this was my first and only time I’ll stop by this location. The gentleman at the counter was friendly, the lady looked at me like I had 2 heads when I asked a question(because it is set up differently for black member benefits).
The locker rooms were gross. I didn’t even want to use a locker because they were dirty. Used Feminine hygiene products on the floor in changing room, trash on the counter in the locker room. I’m sure most of the issues are the patrons. No one was cleaning equipment and no courtesy for others. They would sit and have entire conversations while sitting on machines (There aren’t many as it is a smaller gym) Honestly I left before I usually do bc it was an awful experience. I do however highly recommend Lancaster! Super clean! Plenty of equipment and you can’t beat the friendly staff!

It's a busy gym, but that's to be expected in a college town. It also happens to be a smaller location, again, that can't be helped. Just be aware of those two things.

The one star is for the few staff members we have delt with. They've been very short and rude to us so far. Often times they have friends behind the desk with them making us wait until their conversations are done to get help with the spa reservations. Pretty disappointing.

Month later edit: Why are the workers so rude when attempting to buy anything? Just get some vending machines so we don't have to deal with staff interviewing us. 🥴

I’ve been to planet fitness in many states. This particular location has the warmest and most generous employees. The culture that is built at this Athens PF is unmatched.
Every employee has left and imprint. There is one woman who I’m certain is a manager, Carissa, she is exceptional. She says my name every time I come in and smiles. She remembers all my black card preferences. She’s one of kind and certainly one of the best customer service agents I’ve ever interacted with.

Love so much about PF - the concept, the variety of equipment, affordability, mix of people, but geez, they don't fix or replace equipment on any time line other than theirs, which seems to be "someday". The bathrooms are not cleaned frequently enough, the spray bottles are dirty, the paper towels are frequently out. They don't monitor at all and there are people who tie up equipment because they are on their phones texting, watching, taking selfies. And when I said something to someone who works there about the broken equipment and the annual surcharge (watch out for that!), she said, "there are other gyms you can go to". Seriously? Managers need to start managing.

Place is nice to go tan and work out etc, but it’s funny depending on who’s working they all have their own diff rules. Could have swore being so close to campus it’s more for like college kids to work at then you get some Willy Nilly old bearded man that’s clearly going thru midlife crisis and is rude as heck along w a dark haired mid 30 early 40s woman w glasses and just gives you dirty looks and shakes her head and mmm hm mmmm hm to everything the rude man said. Won’t make the mistake of coming during the day, and then even at night there’s a long dark haired girl that just stands at the desk on her phone and acts like you don’t exsist when you need help. There’s one guy that’s the nicest coolest young kid but only there at night.

The Athens Planet Fitness fails to keep their advertised hours faithfully. Numerous times I have gone to the gym during their advertised hours on Sundays, and nobody is there. This gym is very poorly managed and staffed. It is very disappointing, because it is a nice gym and is in a good location. Wonderful location, excellent equipment and just an overall energy that gives you vibes to enhance your workout. My friend Jill was manager here until recently as she has relocated for a position in the company in Southwest Ohio. You can see the mark she left on the place leaving it in top notch capabilities with a staff she taught and trained exceedingly well as is obvious from the courtesy and support of team member Robert Jacob. I love the atmosphere here at the Athens Planet Fitness. It does get busy during the fall and spring so prepare for a good amount of people. Good price for what you pay for and if they had a sauna it would almost be perfect.

Going to gym is not a thing post people would consider fun, but they make it fun here. With the way they have things set up, you can always feel comfortable going here. I do this that this is a fantastic place to go if you’re looking for something casual, yet different in its own way. They have bottled water, if needed, and their respond to the COVID-19 pandemic is fantastic. Though you’re allowed to take your mask off while working out, you are required to sanitise your area after you’re done; with the stuff that they provide. They always keep the temperature low, but not too low, so that you can be ensured that you won’t overheat.

I haven't used their services since they closed, for over 2 months, since the pandemic hit. I wrote into the headquarters during it to cancel my subscription while they were closed and recieved no reply or verification. Then as soon as they were allowed to open their doors again they smacked me with not only another month which I didn't want and their annual "maintenance" fee. Neither one was waived when I talked to the staff about it. Will not be a returning customer.

I have been a PF member for years. I have never experienced any issues until tonight. I waited at the desk for 10 minutes waiting to be assisted. (I didn’t mind the wait because it was 11:30 at night) but usually the staff is always so nice and welcoming. My experience on 9/18/19 at 11:42pm was less than welcoming. The girl walked up from it looked like she was cleaning. (Which is what I figured why The desk was unattended.) She did not say hello or even crack a smile after I said hello and smiled. I work weird hours so having PF that is open 24 hours is a major perk for me, and I enjoy the amenities I get for $20 a month. I choose PF over my free gym at my apartment. I love PF in Athens, but the girl working tonight was not pleasant at all. Even as I was leaving she glared at me as I said “Thanks have a good night.” I hope she has a better day tomorrow and no one else feel the way that I do after leaving the gym tonight.
