I'm not usually rattled, but today I had the most unpleasant experience at the planet fitness on colerain av, with whom I believe to possibly be the owner. I attempted to use the barbell in the corner on the floor to do standing thrust. I've noticed this bar being used in this area several times before. As I'm working out, I noticed an older gentleman taking photos of the set up and then proceeded to walk away UNTIL he saw "me" walk back over. He then asked in an aggressive manner if I was going to pay for his wall as he pointed at the wall. I said I'm sorry sir, but those scratches were already there and that I'm not the 1st to use this bar in this area. He then says to me in a scolding tone "this is not what the bar is used for" and proceeded to break down my set up. I then apologized and told him " I got it. I'll put it back". He responded 🗣 " I got it too!" as he proceeded to rack the bar, as if I were a child! I had no problem with the gentleman asking me not to lean the bar against the wall, but the way he spoke to me and the embarrassment that he caused was unacceptable and a little scary. I was so shaken up that I could not complete my workout and left! This man was RUDE! He walked around not smiling, not speaking to customers ,but instead making ppl, including myself feel unwelcomed! How you speak and treat customers makes a difference in your business! I am a loyal paying customer, and I have been a customer since they've opened. It saddens me, but this may have been my last day there. I am disgusted and very disappointed! Please do better and treat EVERYONE with respect! God bless!

Follow-up: I canceled my membership.

My last visit was 1/25. The music they play is way too loud. I have to have my earbuds’ volume at dangerous levels. The men’s locker room smells like marijuana or vape. I find both nauseating. The bathroom stalls were nasty. As soon as I saw/smelled all that, I went home and have not returned. I need to go one more time to cancel my membership or ask the staff if they can fix these issues. Thanks.

My wife and I come four or five times a week from downtown. We have black cards and travel a lot. This is the best gym in town and the best PF we have encountered. Cleanliness, staff, equipment, lighting, lay out, and equipment distinguish this location from peers. That’s especially true since their recent remodel.

The gym is spacious😳, the equipment is an upgrade to others👌, bathrooms could use a wall air freshener😷, the aroma wasn’t pleasant for a shower if ya know what I mean😏, and the showers needed a little scrubbing still better than others that I’ve been too.

Every treadmill in here is broken. None of them maintain their speeds. I've complained about this numerous times. It's almost like they never get serviced.

It's affecting my workout to not be able to run as fast as I need to in order to burn fat.

The hours suck, especially on weekends. They keep getting worse and worse. Not even close to a 24 hour gym anymore. The staff is rude at closing time often turning the lights off 10-15 minutes before close and getting upset with you if you’re still there. The place Is a joke.

Be sure to wear noise-cancelling headphones because the music is too loud for comfort.
The employees work hard to keep the place clean, but there are a few patrons who make that job difficult. Also, for some reason there are more locks on the lockers than there are patrons in the gym.

This is such a nice facility and the staff is largely fantastic. There is only 1 thing dragging this review down. Time.

Planet fitness is a gym that markets itself on inclusion. But I can't come to the gym at consistent times every day. Usually I wake up and go straight to the gym but since this location decided not to be 24/7 it has been nothing but struggle.

Worse, the times were changed with almost no warning. I showed up one day at the normal time and they just weren't open. On days when they are open, they often seem over staffed...

I'm considering taking a membership at a less reputable, less nice gym, just to be able to get the 24/7 experience that Planet Fitness advertised.

The staff recommendation? Make the club that's 20 minutes away my home gym instead. Cause gas is so cheap.

Very disappointed.

EDIT: I'm lowering this review from 2 stars to 1 star due to the generic "copypasta" response from Planet Fitness regarding my original review above. Sometimes saying nothing is better if you can't fix the issue; this is particularly the case when I can see you've given the same answer to others who have left similar reviews.

EDIT 2 - 1 year later: I finally canceled my membership here on the 17th of this month after Planet Fitness decided to allow men to enter the women's locker rooms. Absolutely disturbing and not something I wish to support. The next day, they charged me for the service anyway. Not a chance. I want my money back.

Standard planet fitness, place is clean and no one bothers you, but most people are happy to engage if approached nicely. Plenty of cardio equipment, lots of weight machines. Free weights are fine. Smith machine is what it is, you can still do good work even if I'd rather have regular barbells. Someone had a fall the other day, trainer, staff, and even patrons were there to help and make sure the person was fine. So peace of mind if you've got a gym full of people to help you if something goes wrong but no one judges you. Best of all worlds.

A good way to get daily exercise without traveling too far. Hours are round the clock only three days a week but probably makes better sense this way afterCovid-19. Completely new treadmills just over a year ago, including new Arc Trainers, elliptical machines, rowing machines, and bikes, helped tremendously with constant repairs needed on previously broken equipment. Always a clean place to go (inside). Parking is always a challenge, and litter seems to be a perpetual thing. Their lunk alarm is virtually never used, but when I do hear it, it gets ignored anyway. There is just as much judgment here as anywhere else. I do appreciate the age diversity of those who work out here.

After being a high school and college jock 40 years ago, 30+ extra Covid pounds and Hypertension demanded getting back in shape and feeling good. Happily, the nearby Colerain Planet Fitness was a perfect choice with both a wide equipment choice AND great hours—including some Open 24 Hour days which I'll use soon. The water-resist rowing machines were a perfect low-impact starter fit (hitting nearly all the muscle groups), and I couldn't be happier besting elapsed times daily. The PF customers there range from Summer High School students (free for the basic big room) up to Super Seniors, and all follow the "Judgement Free Zone" philosophy, which is ideal for any beginner. ALL body types are here, from overweights changing their lives, to dedicated muscle men and women. Nearly all customers wipe down their own machines after they use them, and most also comply with the no cell calls protocol. You can also request songs over the PA system, if you don't pod your own. Everyone is pleasant and welcoming, evident from fellow peeps always holding open the front door as you leave and enter. Make an effort to introduce yourself, and you'll often be greeted by name by the staff. They keep the facility and lot clean, and there is plenty of parking. If you are in a time crunch, they have a room with many different stations for a timed full body workout in just a half hour. If you choose to upgrade your membership to get the extra perks (like cooldown, heat, and tanning chairs and beds), you also get to bring a gym buddy free anytime. The only reason it isn't a perfect 5-Star rating is the current lack of an on-site Pro Trainer, but the PF website does have links to videos on how to properly use all their equipment stations. I've already dropped 15 lbs in just two weeks, and look forward to gaining back lots of the upper body muscle mass lost years ago, followed by those six pack abs I never had.

All in all, PF stands for Perfect Fit.

I’ve been going to this gym for 4 yrs now and have never had an issue until today the lady Kiara that work the front desk she was so rude and VERY UNPROFESSIONAL she definitely needs more customer service training and learn how to approach somebody. If the gym don’t open until 7am why was the doors unlocked I arrived a few minutes early to see the doors was unlocked I walked in spoke to the young man and proceeded to the treadmill after 10mins of being on there I was approached by the rudest person. I have been going to this location for quite awhile now, usually at night (in between 12 AM and 3 AM) up to five days a week. All of the staff is very friendly and helpful. I always have a great experience here; however, recently they have changed their hours on the weekend and are no longer 24 hours. There was no notice or warning given out before the change. I understand if it is due to staffing or something, but it’s important to let your members know if and when operating hours are changing - preferably ahead of time.

I've been coming to this location for over a year and until recently I have never had a bad experience. Seems like it may be under new management who seems more concerned about socializing than taking care of the facility. I spent 3 hours here today and not once did I see someone refill paper towel dispensers that were empty or do any type of cleaning. The past two times I've been here I've used the tanning beds and once I get in the bed and press start the beds have not turned on. I called the front desk and they then turned them on for me. I normally go in the evening which Is when it seems like nobody works at that time. The morning staff typically seems to be on it.
