EDIT: I had to update my review, added at bottom and bumped from 2 starts to 4.

Place is okay for a generic workout. Think of a hotel gym, then multiply it by 50. There is an overabundance of cardio equipment which unfortunately doesn't even get fully used...just wasted space whereas there is a severe lack of bumbbells, plates, and machine variety. It's a flagrant bias towards diligent people. In the focus on unwelcoming stronger people, they ended up segregating a huge part of the community.

Unfortunately, I don't think you can beat the cost, it is really economical. I will add you get a bit more than what you pay for.

EDIT:
They just surprised everyone by adding a vast assortment of brand new machines, dumbbells & plates, and a new powerlifting area where the stretching area was before.

The new assortment of machines target the whole body and go from unilateral lat pulldown, bench press, preacher curls, and even hip thrust machine.

The new powerlifting area added three new cages and a lotta bumper plates for those overhead exercises.

This was a fantastic addition to their whole setup.

The new equipment and set up is absolutely impressive 💯 the staff at this location is always so informative, kind, and professional. The gym is very clean. I would highly recommend getting a black card membership because the spa area is top notch and an incomparable value.

Terrible customer service at this location. I was in Indonesia for 3 months and placed my card on hold, yet I was still charged late fees even though I never used the gym. When I called to fix it, one call went unanswered, another was hung up on, and the last employee sent me to corporate, who refused to help.

I’ve since emailed the club’s manager and will update this review if the issue is resolved. I also have over 800k followers on TikTok and plan to share this experience if it isn’t made right.

Extremely disappointing — I’m seriously considering canceling and telling others to avoid this location until they fix how they treat their members.

Very basic gym, it has more treadmills than the real needed machines, a bunch machines need maintance, there is a balloon in the ceilling than it's been there for ages, it has a lot of space to be a good gym but it needs some TCL.

Car keys were stolen out of my locker while I was working out and the person stole my wallet out of my car. Notified PF and they couldn’t provide any video since they can only provide this to the police. Given that this is a low priority for the police, they won’t investigate the issue further. Seems like this is not the first time happening at this location.

My lock to my locker wasn’t opening today so I asked the front desk for help. Robert working the desk tried to help me open my locker, and when we couldn’t figure it out, he had another staff member come and break it for me. They gave me a new lock no problem at all! I enjoy working out here. My only reason for the 3-Star rating this time is that after I was done working out, I found out the water was shutt off for repairs. No water ANYWHERE except the water they sell. They SHOULD HAVE offered a bottle to those in need. They had a chance to fix it, and in my opinion, failed. I hope they do better next time.

This location used to be my favorite but lately it has been lacking. I've been stopping pretty regularly to tan in the mornings before work with no issues, until today. Got there around 6am & literally waited for almost 30 minutes as a line formed of people waiting to either tan or use the other amenities. Finally a female employee showed up. She had been in the locker room showering/washing her hair instead of doing her job. Very unprofessional. Needless to say several of us were quite irritated as we had jobs to get to. Will defiantly be looking into another location or gym.

Rating mainly due to improper handling of crowd. Management should bring ideas on crowd management. Lot of young kids and some other people just stand in front of machines and gossip and waste time of others. As people don’t share machines while resting, it really becomes difficult to complete exercise routines.

I’m writing this due to the very significant decline in quality. New manager (man) with long hair is never actually working on the floor, nor his other peers. There is no greeting whatsoever upon arrival, which is whatever. You’re lucky if you even get a smile. Paper towels are NEVER filled. I workout daily for close to two hours here and it has become a norm that all of the paper towel dispensers are empty, usually for the entire length of my workout. Real smart during Covid and flu season. There is no policy enforced regarding member behavior or age. Every single day, there are groups of teenagers in the middle of the floor wrestling, slapping, and hitting each other for laughs. From an equipment standpoint, it is beyond common to wait for 15-20 minutes for cables and/or benches. While 1/3 of the cardio equipment is never in use. Ever.

If this does not improve soon, as i understand volume increases after the new year, i will be taking and recommending membership elsewhere

Just visited this location and not sure what happened. Overall my experience was okay because I have been here as a member for a number of years. I recently moved and have a new location in newark, but needed to use this location today and was disappointed. I come in to find a tall skinny gentleman behind the desk that barely acknowledged me and even when I did say a greeting to him he almost acted like I shouldn't. Then seemed mad when I left and told him to have a good one. When I worked there many years ago, this dude would have failed miserably on a survey. Should not be allowed to be at front desk alone. Overall, not a very clean Club anymore and the clientele has just become cheesy. I am glad I do not have to rely on this location anymore

This is the nastiest pf I’ve ever been in. I went to use the tanning booth and I walk into a pile of paper towels under the chair and in the booth. I removed the paper towels thinking maybe they were cleaning and forgotten them… to my surprise it looks like someone had a pair of scissors and gave themselves a little hair cut underneath the paper towels. Obviously, the booth was not cleaned. I wasn’t even mad at this point. You could only laugh at something this disgusting. I’m glad it was just hair and not anything else, but still disgusting for the public.if you zoom in on the photos you’re able to see it.

I have to give a BIG shout out to Tina! This gal is just amazing! She hits me with a "Good morning!" every time I walk in and somehow, she is everywhere all at once! Tina is always cleaning something. The locker room, showers and bathroom stalls are spotless! Yesterday, I watched her an another employee clean (and I mean CLEAN) the stair master machines. She is always busy, always cleaning and somehow always greeting every member as they walk in. Tina just has the best attitude and keeps me coming back. This gal is Planet Fitness Sawmill!

I canceled my membership back in 2020 when it wasn’t being used, I decided I needed to reopen it or start a new account, I got very little help from the front desk. One clerk brought over a club member thinking he could help me with my credit card issue. Another lovely staff member whose name I can’t remember Took time to try to figure out what was going on, we got no answers. I tried looking up contact information for corporate through the website with no luck. Their website does not have adequate customer service information, I then called this club again to see if I could speak with a manager, and instead I got hung up on. currently looking for other places to work out because they have shown me that they have no interest in keeping me as a potential member.

Had my wallet stolen, and noticed a planet fitness membership was being charged — I had to reach out to customer service , they said it was this location . I reach out to this location confirmed that the site had in fact been the one used only once (50 miles from where I live) I reached out to the site , let them know that I had a police report to show where my wallet had been stolen, the manager I contacted them more than 10 times still they claim they are going to refund and I should expect the managers manager to reach out to me — he evidently couldn’t care less about correcting this , because it’s been more than 3 months and they continued to charge me another month, and even refused to refund me or make an inquiry for the police report to verify my story . I’m 3+ months trying to deal with this , never got a call back, never got a refund , the site is one I would not recommend dealing with on a customer service level — I recommend if anyone has a problem with the site , change your card information, and put a block on the site from being able to charge you as their priority is to only get as much money out of you as they can , they have no interest in doing the right thing.
Update #1 after reaching out over email as per the owners suggestion per this review comment I am continuing to lose hope as I provided the email from communication with the location in question, along with a photo of the review as requested and immediately the first email I got back was asking if I’ve tried to reach out to the site about the issues when it clearly states in the review I’ve made many attempts , and I even provided email correspondence with the location. I will continue to update but I’m continuing to lose hope and become more frustrated
Edit #2 I’ve gotten 4 replies from the above email address after I was told to reply , after I submitted this review in the email. I’ve been asked 4 questions that could have simply been answered if they would have read my review including “have you reached out to the site” and “have you spoken to the site manager” I don’t have high hopes that my issue will be resolved because they cannot seem to even read the review to gather information as these questions have already been answered in the review .
Update #3 I’ve reached out to the social email that the owner had requested , they didn’t provide any information aside from asking me if I spoke to the site , and how I did so the last reply from them has been 5 days even when I reached out again asking if they planned to respond — still no response , at this point I would say just just stay away from planet fitness at all because they clearly don’t have a concern for protecting the funds of the consumer in cases as such, 5 of my family members and 3 friends have all cancelled their memberships within the last 48 hours , and once they can without penalty 2 more will also be switching to another gym as well, I will continue to broadcast how poorly planet fitness consumer care has been towards me and I will continue to do so until they correct this , which I hope that they do but there has already been some damage done at this point .
Update #4 it’s been a week since they last reached out to me , I’ve sent one email every otherday just to touch base with them about any updates and they’ve even stopped replying to emails “Dee” has been the representative that communicated with me the first 3 days and then I never heard back from , this is again a rather disappointing experience and I would continue to urge people to stay away — all planet fitness seems to care about is getting ahold of your money, and then keeping it hostage even if the way they hold ahold of it was morally incorrect . Sadly it’s not worth retaining a lawyer to get the money back and pay triple the amount planet fitness is holding just to prove a point and they know that it’s not going to happen but I will continue to urge people to STAY AWAY.
Final update #5 it seems. They haven’t responded in 2 weeks , they simply just stopped responding .

By far the filthiest club I have been to. There is a thick layer of dust on top of the machines, and behind the dumbell rack. You are taking your life in your hands trying to walk around the cable machine in the evening. Tonight every bar, handle, and rope was scattered on the floor. Seriously looked like a 14 year old boy’s bedroom. The staff is usually friendly which is great, but I’m not enjoying a dirty work out space.

So on the website it says “free day pass” as long as you bring a valid id. I show up because the ymca (the clearly superior gym) is closed for maintenance. Kid up front says “we don’t do free day passes…. (Yap session later) our day passes are 21.50” first of all that is more expensive than the monthly price but that’s neither here nor there I was desperate so I agreed. I said I have to get my wallet from the car but I need to use your bathroom first. The guy says “Unfortunately I can’t let you do that”. Top notch customer service btw. And to Anyone who goes to this sorry gym still, seek help the ymca is much better.

Would be 5 but the "lunk alarm" is the dumbest concept ever invented. Promote inclusivity, while being exclusive. And use it as a deter to loud noises in a gym, when it's literally louder than a war siren. All disguised as something they think is a cute marketing tool.

Staff is very helpful. This Planet Fitness on Bethel Road is clean and there is room to work out. The tanning beds look clean and kept up on the maintenance. The only recommendations I would have are to change the hours back to 24 hours if anything and put in the Hydro loungers

The gym itself is ok but they have a policy that you have to come in to cancel or write a letter. I left for Asia and they refused to cancel my membership for months, refusing to give the option to cancel online or by email. There is no reason for this outside of making it hard to cancel and it’s this gym specific. My gym in California was very surprised that this gym had a cancellation policy like this.

Sadly, this PF location has take a serious nosedive over the past 6 months!
- weights not returned by members
- people hoarding multiple sets of dumbbells or machines for extended amounts of time while other members wait
- people walking around in “slides” (open toe flip-flops) as if they are at the beach
- people talking on or staring at their phones while sitting on equipment while others wait…even video chatting while walking around the place
- cable accessories in disarray and laying all over the place, cluttering the areas around the cable machines
- machines have moved with use and are out of place and not positioned correctly

These are just a few observations myself and others routinely witness and discuss.

I have politely brought all the above up to the staff and have seen no change or positive results!

The members should be held accountable by the staff to get off their phones, dress appropriately, put equipment away and be courteous to other members by not monopolizing/hoarding multiple dumbbells and equipment!

I hope this finds you well. I am writing to express my deep concern about an incident that occurred recently at sawmill Road gym location, which has left me feeling disheartened and disappointed with the current state of affairs.

As a member who was a part of the Planet Fitness community for years, I have always appreciated the welcoming environment and the professionalism displayed by your staff, especially during Stan's tenure. Under his management, the gym ran seamlessly, and incidents were minimal.

However, in the past three months, I have witnessed a significant decline in customer service, cleanliness, and professionalism at the gym. The incident on 1-1-24 between 12:30 and 1 pm involving a minor disagreement between two guests was mishandled and blown severely out of proportion by not only the manager but also by two new employees, whose conduct was concerning. (The video needs to be reviewed when the manager screams out does anybody else have anything to say and threatens to trespass people just watching the seen she has created) I had nothing to do with the situation simply looked at one person and said they’ve been here two weeks they’ll be gone by February!

The lack of effective customer service has been evident, notably with the cleanliness standards in the massage room, gym area, and tanning beds. Dust accumulation and overall filth have become noticeable, which is distressing given the high standards I have come to expect from Planet Fitness the last few years.

What concerns me most is the discriminatory behavior displayed by some staff members. I have witnessed paying guests being targeted, spoken about disrespectfully, and threatened with trespassing simply for expressing valid concerns about the management of the incident. This not only tarnishes the reputation of your establishment but also amounts to defamation of character for loyal patrons.

I am writing this letter not to criticize but to express my genuine concern and disappointment. The environment that was once inclusive and accommodating has now become hostile and uninviting. As a long-term member who values the Planet Fitness community, I implore you to address these issues promptly and restore the standards of excellence and professionalism that once defined this gym.

I believe that with the right actions, including retraining staff on customer service and hygiene protocols, implementing stricter cleanliness standards, and fostering a more inclusive and respectful atmosphere, we can restore Planet Fitness to its former glory.

I appreciate your attention to these matters and sincerely hope for positive changes that will benefit all members of the gym community.
After writing this letter, I was told I was siding with the aggressor, funny the only aggressors in this situation was the employees gabby and the manager lacy as well as The main aggressor, screaming at the top of her lungs was Makiya. I was banned from the gym and not followed up with management. Customer service And management training is subliminal. Do not expect to be treated in any kind of professional manner.
This is the McDonald’s of gyms and they are living up to their name.
All in all go to crunch or Esporta much better gyms That truly don’t judge!!!

Anyone who is looking to get healthy in the New Year, no matter your fitness goal, I HIGHLY RECOMMEND looking into Planet Fitness!!

They have plenty of cardio machines ranging from ellipticals, treadmills, bikes, etc to free weights and weight machines, and separated areas for ab workouts and "express 30min workouts".

The reason I switched to this location was the organization of the machines/exercises, the very clean locker rooms, the massaging chairs, friendly staff and all of the machines were in working order (can't say that about LA Fitness).. starting at $10, or $25 for the premium membership which pays for itself in added benefits!

The staff just stand at the desk and do nothing. Literally every time I come the paper towels are out at nearly every station. You have to tell them to refill. But they make sure to come tell you to put your bag in a locker but do nothing else.

Some of the staff are rude and don't know what they're doing. The place has went down hill. The paper towels are missing from many cleaning stations, you have to tell them for replacement. They act as if you're bothering them and keeping them from texting on a cell phone. The bathrooms are nasty,black toilets to hide the filth. My husband and I have been harassed by a few particular girls when checking in. I have a pf black card that allows me to bring any guest. My only guest has been my husband for years, suddenly it's been a problem to give them my guest's phone number to check in. They tell us we have to have a guest card. One girl would not let us in, i had to tell her to get someone else to help just to get in. That girl just put in my husbands phone number and just like that , no problem. A select few are being nasty because I questioned them about a guest card. I have been going to this club many years and looking past the negatives because the membership is so cheap. I can no longer look past the few rude people when checking in. How does someone get a hold of the franchise owner of this particular club? Terrible management! Hire people that actually have people skills.

The gym is great and so are people who work there. My problem is that they replaced all the old TV's with new ones, but 5 of them are not on. I asked if they can put the NFL on or other games. these stations are the local ones. rumor has it that the upper management has done this and the staff can't do anything about it. Pretty sad for such a nice place that i enjoy going to. I'm tired od cooking shows, rehab houses and NASA channels.

Rude staff who don’t know their job clearly! Terrible management!
We were interested in one month of membership for the time we are visiting family in Columbus. One of the staff suggested us that we can sign up for the black membership, use its guest pass benefits, and then cancel the membership the next day. They said this way we can use our membership for the rest of the month. We didn’t even know there was such an option, they suggested us to do so!
We did the same thing as we were told, and canceled our membership the next day. Then two days later when we were trying to check in, we were told that our membership has been canceled and we can’t use the gym. And when we told them that we did what exactly what they suggested us to do, then suddenly 2 managers appeared to the front, and they kept saying we are no longer a member and we need to leave!
They insisted all the staff know their jobs and didn’t even acknowledge that we did exactly what was offered to us! They didn’t even listen to us! They acted like we were making a scene, while insulting us in a very calm manner, making us look the bad people there!

The staff at this Planet Fitness center provided misleading information about the membership, leading to confusion and inconvenience. And all the managers had to say was we were making a scene, we needed to leave and that their staff know their job!

A gym should not my freezing cold. I have all long sleeves and I’m freezing. I gym should be warm so you sweat more. It’s the same temperature as outside. Also, their meter on how busy it is, is never correct. Two marks for being super busy shouldn’t be like that.

A few weeks ago I went on a Saturday (first time I've been on Saturday) and was lifting free weights. Suddenly an extremely loud alarm starts going off a few feet away from me. Luckily I was resting because if I was mid set I probably would have dropped weights onto myself. The alarm was extremely loud and I even had ear buds in. It's louder than a fire alarm and non stop for like 45 seconds. There are no pauses it's literally like an air horn for 45 seconds. I thought something malfunctioned or there was a crisis. No one seemed panicked but I saw a few people head to the door. So I looked on my phone and saw that they closed at 7pm (which I was unaware of).

It's completely fine to close at 7pm or whenever they choose it's their business but to blast an alarm to kick people out while they are lifting weights is dangerous, rude, and completely unnecessary. How hard would it be to take a minute or 2 to walk around and tell people you are closing? Or make a few announcements over the intercom?

I don't know if that's standard procedure to ring the alarm at closing or if someone did it because they were lazy but it needs to stop. There is no need to hurd people out like sheep. We are human beings and know how to communicate. And that alarm is extremely loud especially when you are right next to it. Save the alarm for a crisis and take down the lunk signs. You're trying to promote inclusivity while being exclusive. It's a gym not a library. And the loudest people there are you guys ringing that alarm for no reason.

Other than that I love this gym, it's always clean, it gets busy but there are always machines open. Staff is nice. Have never had a problem with anything other than an anxiety attack from an unnecessary alarm going on.

Would give it 0 stars if possible. I joined planet fitness and then immediately canceled when I found out my son was too young to join with me. Stan working there told me okay, he will take care of the cancellation and I won't be charged anything. Planet Fitness goes on to charge me $10 the first month and over $50 the second month (where did that amount come from?). I call and the manager Gabby confirms Stan was supposed to have me complete a paper cancellation form or complete it online with me. I advise he never did, there were people there to witness. The business finally responded to the BBB complaint, but only after I posted this google review, and they have refunded my money. Unfortunately, my experience was with incompetent, dishonest, and unprofessional employees.

The staff and facilities are excellent for people with disabilities! Its best to go late at night, as you can take more time going from machine to machine but from the machines, to the locker rooms to space available for and genuine welcome of service dogs, planet fitness is most ADA compliant and safe for people with disabilities. Highly recommend.

I’ve been going to this locations for about 3 years now. Today when I walked in an associate tried to stop me after scanning in and said he needed to scan my credit card. I asked if there was an issue? He replied no but Planet Fitness now requires two forms of payment in case one fails?? I said no, In which he replied they were going to cancel my membership unless I provide?? My membership comes out of my checking and has never failed. This seemed super sketchy…

A lot of people go here. As such, you would assume in a large gym they would have enough equipment that you don’t have to wait around quite a bit. Not the case. Two thirds of everything here is cardio. And the weight lifting equipment they do have isn’t nearly enough to accommodate all the people that come here. Tons of open and empty room to add more. Just not worth the dirt cheap price bc you have to compete with so many people for equipment. Two thirds of the gym is cardio of which only like 25% is ever used. Planet fitness has an app with a crowd meter on it. The meter isn’t accurate. Even at its lowest point on the crowd meter, you still have to wait and wait for others to finish before doing anything. Can’t imagine what a “busy” time even would look like. Gains a star for being clean.

Although this gym has good enviorement, people are not gym weirdos, it's amazingly always clean, this gym is very small. Can't handle the amount of people going there. If you go to this gym. Be prepared to do lines, wait for machines, benches and all kind of stuff to use. While your muscles gets cold and lose all kind of progress done while you wait. You end up doing 2.5 hours in a 1.5 hour routine. It' just stupid. As of 06/23/2023 this is still happening and only gets worse.
