an incident occurred today at your Mayfield Village location. I am a Black Card member and had brought a friend with me, as I wanted him to show me some arm workouts. It was his first time visiting, and I have personally only been to this location a handful of times.
After finishing my workout, I entered the spa area and attempted to book a tanning bed under my account. I was unaware that doing so for my guest was not permitted, as this was never explained to me previously. Rather than being informed of the policy in a professional or constructive way, I was immediately accused of being a repeat offender. The staff member stated that “we do this every time” and threatened to cancel my membership if it happened again. This accusation was both untrue and unnecessarily hostile, considering this was only my third visit to Planet Fitness in general.
Her tone was rude, accusatory, and dismissive. Instead of receiving clarification or guidance, I was made to feel singled out, judged, and extremely uncomfortable in what is supposed to be a judgment-free zone. The way she spoke to me was unacceptable for customer service of any kind, let alone a fitness facility that promotes inclusivity and a welcoming environment.
I regret that I did not catch her name, but from previous reviews starting to think it was Maria. Her behavior telling me to “just go in, go in” to the tanning bed in a pushy and disrespectful manner ultimately caused me to leave the facility feeling disrespected and mistreated.
I am bringing this matter to your attention because it reflects very poorly on the standards Planet Fitness claims to uphold. Unless this is addressed and corrected, I will be strongly reconsidering my membership, as I do not feel comfortable or welcomed returning to this location under the current circumstances.

I am a nurse practitioner who was at this location with my husband who is 15 days post labrum repair barely off crutches using a cane and only 75% weight bearing working on his rehab exercises. A employee named Maria rudely approached him about his small bag that was next to his cane that is filled with his rehab equipment including his bands, wraps and balls and requested that he purchase a lock for a locker. She did not ask if there was a reason for the bag but continued to state that there are signs all around the gym that say no bags. She had no issues approaching the man with a cane but said nothing to the two construction workers working out in dirty work boots and jeans. We cancelled our membership and would love to speak with the owner or general manager but when we asked for a contact we were given an illegible email address.

Pros: Clean & bright & with a good variety of exercise equipment. Quiet.
Cons: Front desk personnel, usually only one, doing?? Pet peeve, people just sitting on machines using their phones. Paper towels always low on the last row by treadmills. Hand sanitizer empty also for the past 3 weeks.

I signed up my son for the teen program online and looked forward to working out with him . Went to the Euclid location where I signed up for and they said he couldn’t workout with me without a birth certificate, which is stated nowhere on the website .

Complaint Regarding Staff Conduct at Planet Fitness – Richmond Heights, OH Location

Dear Planet Fitness Management,

I am writing to formally file a complaint about the conduct of a staff member at your Richmond Heights, Ohio location (5174 Wilson Mills Rd.). I have been a loyal Black Card member for over 10 years and have visited many Planet Fitness locations across the country. I’ve never experienced the kind of behavior I’ve encountered at this location.

On multiple occasions during late-night visits, the front doors have been locked. The staff member — an African-American woman who wears a face mask — insists that members must show their Planet Fitness membership through the glass before she unlocks the door. This is not only inconvenient but also unsafe, particularly when she is away from the front desk, which happens often. I’ve had to wait outside several times with no one in sight.

Additionally, she has incorrectly enforced the massage chair policy. Despite being a Black Card member entitled to unlimited use of this amenity, I was told I could only use it three times, then later only once — even though the facility was empty. When I pointed out the posted Planet Fitness policy, she laughed and dismissed it. After that, she left the front desk again and was nowhere to be found.

This kind of conduct is unprofessional and contradicts the “Judgment Free Zone” and customer-first values that Planet Fitness promotes. Locking paying members out of the building, denying access to advertised benefits, and being consistently unavailable is unacceptable and needs to be addressed.

I respectfully ask that this issue be investigated, that staff are reminded of the official company policies, and that appropriate action or retraining is taken to ensure a welcoming and consistent experience for all members.

Thank you for your time and attention to this matter. I hope to continue my membership with the confidence that this location upholds the same high standards I’ve seen across the country.

I love this place. The equipment here is mostly new. I really like the treadmills here because they contain the sprint feature. I usually do these as a warmup. There are an abundance of smith machines which is a bonus. Any part of your body you want to work, they have the equipment for you. The only reason that I give this a four star rating instead of a five, is because of the damn toilet seats. Both of the toilets in the men's room are loose, so when I sit down on one it moves side to side. This shouldn't be much of a problem for it to be fixed. Just screw the things tightly back in place! I could do that myself but I don't work here. It's a shame too because the staff doesn't have any problems keeping the place clean. Other than the toilet seat issue, I'd give this place five stars! Fix this one problem and I'll change this from a four to a five!

Most staff are friendly and the gym is never over crowded - brought up my concerns to the gym about the weekly order issue resulting in a lack of paper towels through the entire gym (results in equipment being used without being cleaned 🤢 ) and my concerns of the benches/equipment having ripped seats which result in foam/fabric being exposed (of which cannot be sanitized and is a MRSA risk) and Maria, manager, really called me and hastily said “got your complaint, you can cancel, we don’t refund, here’s my email” when I said that was rude - she still had no sympathy and there were zero promises about them trying to improve things or work on being better for sanitation purposes. Escalated to corporate only because of her reaction toward me. I have faith that the GM will correct the issues instead of tell me to cancel my membership.

This is my favorite gym. It has two floors and a lot of equipment. No other PF that I have been in has this much equipment. Sometimes it seems like things go down at the same time but I have no complaints I s e how some patrons misuse the equipment i.e. using things that are making loud noises instead of reporting it and waiting until it has been repaired. I recently had a very disappointing experience with the customer service team of Hire. When I encountered an issue with their service, I reached out to them expecting a resolution. To my surprise, not only did they fail to address my problem, but they also refused to engage in a meaningful conversation. It was clear that they were in the wrong, yet they chose to ignore my concerns and dismiss my complaints. This lack of accountability and unwillingness to communicate effectively left me feeling frustrated and undervalued as a customer. Great gym with a nice selection of well maintained equipment. There are different sections for different interests/styles. Class sizes tend to be 1:1 when I've gone (admittedly, only twice). I don't think you can beat $10 for a gym this nice! I have the $25/mo membership which gets you access to the black card area which has 3 different types of tanning beds: 1 standing, 2 uvb, and 2 with both uva and uvb (from my understanding). There's also 2 hydromassage chairs, 2 heavy duty massage chairs, and my favorite: total body enhancement, red lights and a shake plate. There's also a meditation pod but if I'm being honest, I don't get it... This is probably really nice if you're just getting started on a meditation practice or mindfulness journey. Staff is always pleasant and attentive. And on most days, there are a couple people walking around, spraying down equipment to keep the place clean. The locker rooms are large and well maintained with many slower stalls and restrooms. 10/10 recommend!

sad but I have to edit my review. Previously, i had been going around 10am but today I went at 4pm and it was somewhat of a disaster. Despite signs to the contrary, there were several members on treadmills talking on their phones for 10+ minutes.

One - Right next to the desk who was blissfully ignoring the uncomfortable task of enforcing the rules.

Also, I noticed several machines were not working correctly for the 2nd straight week.

It's a pretty solid PF. It's clean, the employees are friendly & helpful, and it hasn't been too crowded when I've gone between 6-7 am. They have more smith machines than some PF's, but the bar is only 25 lbs. The locker rooms & showers were surprisingly clean, and no one's on their phones or recording on the gym floor. This location is very unprofessional, one day I called to ask an important question and the manager answered the phone laughing and horse playing with another employee that was in the background I confronted her about her unprofessional conduct and told her it was very poor for business. I came back to work out after upgrading my membership over a month ago, now they want to stop me and start harassing me about signing documents I should’ve been signed over a month ago when I upgraded, you mean to tell me a whole month has passed, I work out 2-4 times a week an no one said anything? Now I’m a target? Again no training or knowledge of the job they just stand behind the counter doing nothing and getting paid. Then, I’m working out one of the employees with orange dreadlocks yelled at me across the gym, I was trying to work out and she kept interrupting me and harassing me because she was so mad that I addressed the unprofessional and lack of knowledge of the staff, as I’m working out she comes up to me and says my manager is going to call you, you’re going to be restricted from working out here. Wow, Ok thanks for the information hun but I’m trying to work out I didn’t come in here for the drama or harassment I didn’t sign up for that, then I tried to be respectful and she got really out of control. This is very sad. The management are doing a very poor job during the hiring process. Paying customers should never have to deal with this kind of conduct without the customer there is no business. I started working out again at this gym 3 months ago. I actually really like it, friendly staff and kind people who work out there (generally). The various areas are pretty clean and it’s easy to get a good workout in….HOWEVER, I beg the staff!!! USE THE AC!!!!!!! Or at least make it a bit cooler! Over the past beginning of summer months, I’ve been getting way too hot and having to leave early if I’m too uncomfortable. Is what it is. They explained everything. So far they've been true to their word. I find a couple of things hilarious in these reviews.

First: People complaining about odor in a place where people come to sweat? Get real. A ridiculous assertion when looking at it published.

Secondly: They don't appreciate real athletes? Ummm, are they supposed to worship you? PF knows the market they want to get and they apparently succeed in doing so. They don't want the mentality that comes with most gym memberships.

For anyone to complain about the things their representatives told you up front is ludicrous.

Here's what's to like about it: if you're doing cardio, there are enough machines here to get your workout and get out. Not everyone has two hours to wait around like I often had to at another gym in the area when I went there at 8 a.m. The machines are rarely broken and when they are, they're repaired quickly.

My only problem: not enough recumbent stationary bikes.

The staff is generally friendly.

If you want a place with 20 tons of free weights, go elsewhere (something they tell you).
