This location failed to open on multiple Sat. mornings on time. Roughly 20 cars sitting there waiting to get the day started right pulling away one by one. Additionally, this location always has 5 treadmills out of service for extended periods of time. Sometimes weeks without repairs. There's no Wi-Fi and no attempt to even rectify the matter. It went out prior to the summer of 2025 and now answering the middle of fall There's been absolutely no progress whatsoever.

I’ve been a Planet Fitness member for about a year now (one of three gym memberships, as they previously all delivered value in different aspects), and while the facilities themselves are decent, what truly made the experience great were the people—until they started disappearing.

It’s become extremely disappointing to watch every employee who genuinely delivered excellent customer service get either run off or let go. These were individuals who made the gym feel welcoming, consistent, and enjoyable. Instead, I now find myself having to adjust to new faces over and over again—not because of natural turnover, but because management seems unable to retain the good ones. And that’s a management failure, plain and simple.

Let’s be honest—Planet Fitness isn’t some elite training facility. It’s a budget-friendly, beginner-focused gym, and its biggest strengths have always been the convenient hours and a warm, friendly staff. So when management fails to keep the very people who make the experience worthwhile, what’s really left?

As any strong leader knows, you’re only as good as your team. And in a service-based business, your customers feel the impact when you keep losing the people who made them feel valued and seen. This gym has potential, but it’s being squandered by poor leadership decisions. Do better—for your team, and for your paying members.

“Manager” Emily should not be working in customer service… I’m finishing a workout on the stairclimber and the wallet attached to the back of my phone falls into the machine — I look around for a few minutes to try and get into it but no luck, so I go over to the front desk and an employee tries to help but isn’t sure how, so they go to ask their manager (Emily). After a minute I go over and Emily immediately becomes defensive, shrugging and saying “I don’t know what you want me to do about it” since the person with the key to the machine isn’t there. Only after calling said person and confirming that they won’t be able to come in until tomorrow does she ask for my name and number (assuming the other person on the phone told her to ask for that, since she wouldn’t have been able to think to do that herself… immediately going to “I don’t know what you want me to do”). My license was in that wallet so I had to drive home with no license. Thanks for that, Emily!
Additionally, why would there not be a key to open the machine on-site? And why wouldn’t the person with a key come to the gym in a situation like this?

Looking through other reviews, I see that many others have had negative experiences with her as well, so I ask… why does she still have a job here?

The only reason this is a two star review and not a one star one is because when I went today to retrieve it, a different manager (I believe his name was Matt?) was very polite and helpful. Emily should take some notes.

The "manager" Emily is by far the worst I have ever experienced. I needed help with such a simple task, one that took her non managerial coworker 2 minutes to do, and was met with nothing but attitude and lies. Emily redirected me to ABC, other locations, and ultimately lied to me telling me I was wrong, my information was wrong and she couldn't help. I eventually called back, again, as all other sources stated the home branch manager was the only one who could solve my issue, and another staff member was able to listen and solve the issue in minutes. Emily definitely shouldn't be in any type of managerial position as she lacks any people skills, empathy and basic common sense. Sad to see this is what planet fitness chose to represent this location. Stay far away.

DO NOT sign up for this location!! Every other PF I’ve have been to has been great, however I encountered the manager Emily who self proclaims is the “Head of Planet fitness” I called and was hung up on multiple times despite being polite. I went in person to resolve the issue and when she asked my name walked away from me and did not return. Fortunately I was able to be helped by someone else. I transferred locations finally! All the old employees were nice but since Emily started working it’s been hostile, (I have nothing bad to say about the new employees btw, because she wants to lie saying I was disrespectful to the staff when I hadn’t even spoken to them before except to ask for a barbell pad). Flirting with my fiancé but silent when I’m beside him? Weird behavior.
I didn’t appreciate the “Bye Elijah!” when we were leaving together today, “have a good one” would’ve been fine or just saying nothing.

Went in for a workout and the extremely rude manager Emily came up to my girlfriend and I discriminating against our shoes saying she was going to “mark our account” for incorrect footwear. I have wore my crocs to this location for over a year and have never had an issue prior to today. Planet fitness policy states shoes need to be close toed and last time I checked crocs are closed and many people wear them as workout shoes. Poor management - bring back the old staff!

Customers in. 7am is not that early but clearly It’s an issue. NUMEROUS times on The Weekend there are zero workers to be found to open and customers forced to leave and come back. I normally love Planet Fitness, but I’m really disappointed in how frequently this location fails to open on time. This is the third time in the last 30 days that I’ve shown up either at 5 AM on a weekday or 7 AM on a weekend (when the gym is supposed to open), only to find the doors still locked an hour later.

What’s more frustrating is that I’ve already reported this—both through the official Planet Fitness channels and directly to the location. The manager even called me personally to apologize last time. So why is it still happening?

I understand things go wrong sometimes, but at this point, it feels like a pattern of unreliability. I’ve had to drive to other locations just to get my workouts in. As someone who’s committed to their routine, this inconsistency is incredibly discouraging.

I returned here about two years ago, after a transferring to Streetsboro.

I still have never had an issue with Stow staff, and two years ago, the equipment was brand new. Many other things were brand new, including a revamp of the locker rooms.

In the past two years, there have been probably four different managers, and staff frequently has come and gone. Again, as a customer, I have never had an issue any staff. Just wondering why there is a high turn over.

The "new" hot water tanks seem to go out of order every six months.

Exercise equipment is now malfunctioning. Some machines are broken. There is some equipment (bikes) that have never been used when I am there, which probably could be replaced with more desirable equipment.

Leaving at four stars, as things have been going downhill.

I just transferred to another club that has more selection of equipment. I will be spending 90 days to determine if my transfer was a good choice. My wife and I travel the country and stop at many planet fitness locations across the country. This one is ranked at the bottom of the barrel. The equipment is limited, and for how busy it was on a Wednesday night at 10:30 pm. The biggest issue we had with this place was the locker rooms. I went into the men's locker room to change and shower. The only one bench to sit and change was full of young men just hanging out, drinking beer, and being excessively loud . As a handicap person. I struggled to get undressed while having to stand in a corner to remove my clothing. When I finally got in the shower , the water was cold . I'm not talking slightly cold , I'm talking no hot water at all cold. It was a cold, rainy night in Ohio. With temps sitting at 40 degrees cold out. My wife and I were extremely disappointed. And will make a point of not using this place again. I'll drive a few hours to another one before we ever come to this location again.

I was greatly disappointed in the showers. There is literally no options for keeping your stuff with your and there's very minimal privacy. I am writing this because the virtual tour photos are deceiving.

A few weeks ago this would have been 5 stars…but there’s a new sheriff in town who has sent the best staff on earth flying out the door. Why, new manager Kevin, have so many people quit? You need to ask yourself. Change when and where needed is a good thing. Change so that you can puff up your chest and flaunt your position of authority is NOT a good thing. The a.m. staff of Roy, John, and Josiah were THE BEST— super knowledgeable, super helpful, kind and considerate, nonjudgmental. The new sheriff forced Roy to accept an untenable shift—because it’s the new sheriff’s way or the highway. Unfair! Unjust! Poor management! The old saying “if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it” applies here. PLEASE put the well known, well respected a.m. team back in place. Oh! And by the way, speaking of “fixing,” there’s a whole row of bikes that have been broken for weeks!!! Maybe focus on fixing the broken equipment — and leave the well-oiled morning machine alone.

I have been very pleasantly surprised so far. Been going several times a week for over a month now. A few machines have broken or lost parts in that time and were fixed within a week or 2. Things are clean and most people wipe after themselves. My only complaints are the lack of Red light therapy without tanning, and of course the lack of some free weights. This I saw is starting to change at some Planet fitness. So hopefully in the future we see them.

I haven't visited this gym in the past few years. I stopped working out after experiencing discomfort from past injuries and gaining weight from those tempting weekly pizzas. However, I recently learned that they are now only served on the first of every month. Even though I don't go, I’m a proud member of donating my $10 monthly pass to support this business. When I choose to work out, the gym is usually busy, and the space is generally well kept, with mostly friendly people. The bathrooms are often clean, although I do have some issues with the shower curtains! Still, I can't complain; this gym was my refuge during a time when my water was shut off, or when I was just hungry, and it continues to be a constant source of motivation for me.

I have been tanning here for quite sometime now and I love it. I decided to buy bottle of tanning lotion , paid full price . I walk in a week or so later and saw a sign all lotions 40% for month of August. So I spoke with Kara (Asst. Manager) and she explained there were mailing issues with the signs and they got the signage later then normal, but all the associates should have seen memo. I wouldn’t have complained but it was a huge sale . I am thankful Kara had helped me get what I should have gotten to begin with and was super nice about it . I think it is about time I updated my google review on this location. In the course of the year, this location went from 5 starts to 2 stars for me. The staff used to walk around dusting the machines, sweeping and mopping the floors, refilling cleaning stations. Now, they just hang out behind the desk, laughing and chit chating. Cleaning stations are constantlyyyyyy empty. The equipment is dusty and dirty. I understand we are supposed to wipe down our equipment after use. But the staff still should be cleaning the equipment in between. And don't get me started on the crusty water fountain 🤢 Working out isn't even enjoyable anymore because I know this location is MAJORLY slacking in cleanliness. $10-$20 a month, and $50 once a year, where is our money going???? Because it's surley not going back into the wellness of the gym.

Thank you Planet Fitness for being exactly what you advertise (at least at the two locations that I visit most Stow and Streetsboro locations) and judgement free zone.

When I was displaced last summer from my small farm. The Streetsboro Planet Fitness became my home away from home. AJ, Sherry and the Streetsboro staff always made me feel welcomed and cared about. I really do not know what I would have done without them.

That being said….. I would like to see yoga balls appear at the Stow location!
