I’ve been a member here for a few years and have always had great interactions with the staff, but today I had an experience that completely erased that goodwill.

My wife and I were finishing a workout about 15 minutes before close, and it was cold, so I thought I would go get our vehicle and warm it up so I could pick her up at the door.

I had been there for maybe 2 minutes (ai parked away from the door, the lot was nearly empty, and I do this all the time when it’s raining or cold), when a staff member came out, forced me to roll down my window, and proceeded to lecture me on my “violation,” finishing by saying I needed to move and find a parking spot.

The staff know us by name. They check us in before we get to the counter. The staff member is not a manager and had no business micromanaging the parking lot in this manner.

It’s bad enough that there are male employees using the women’s restroom (while women are showering no less), and signs all over the walls that make you feel bad if you take lifting seriously, but now I have to worry about something silly like saving my wife a cold walk in the dark parking lot.

Honestly I’ve been afraid to leave a great review for fear of dissatisfied members from the Lyons location flooding this one. But it appears I’m not alone in my appreciation for this location.

This is a great PF, MILES above the Lyons location. It’s always clean, staff are always present and on top of their duties, not to mention just the *nicest* people. The manager here has gone above and beyond to address any concerns I’ve had, including helping me locate an ID I lost in a time-sensitive situation.

The only thing is the space is a bit small, and the 30-minute workout area is crammed into a small space downstairs and is frustrating to use because of this. Otherwise, this location is excellent and I’m so glad it’s available as an alternative to Lyons, which is *awful*.

This might be my favorite planet fitness because of the two floor layout! Nice and cozy. Although some of the equipment feels heavier and can make it hard to do the weights you think you can do. But was still able to get my workouts in!

Planet Fitness in Sugarcreek, Ohio is truly one of the best gym experiences I’ve ever had. From the moment you walk in, you’re greeted with a friendly smile from the staff—it’s clear they genuinely care about the members. The facility is always impressively clean, and I constantly see staff actively cleaning the equipment and keeping the space in top shape.

Declan, the manager, does an outstanding job. He’s incredibly knowledgeable, professional, and clearly committed to making sure customer service is a priority. He also keeps a close eye on equipment maintenance—on the rare occasion that something breaks, he’s on top of getting it repaired quickly and communicating about it with members. Brittany is another standout—she’s personable, friendly, and great at giving tours. I’ve seen her help multiple new members with warmth and confidence, which makes a huge difference for people just getting started.

The gym has a wide range of machines and equipment for full-body workouts. While it’s true they don’t have free Olympic barbells for bench press or squats, there’s still plenty of gear to get a great lift in—whether you’re new or more experienced.

As a Black Card member, I really appreciate the extra amenities. The massage beds are my go-to after every workout—always clean and working well—and a great way to relax. The tanning and total body machines are also spotless and maintained regularly.

What really sets this Planet Fitness apart is the judgment-free atmosphere. When I started, I was very new to fitness—skinny, low muscle, and unsure of myself. But I’ve never once felt judged or out of place. I’ve been going 3–5 times a week, steadily improving, and I truly love it here.

You simply can’t beat the Sugarcreek Planet Fitness if you’re looking for a clean, welcoming, and well-run place to reach your fitness goals. Highly recommend!

You can never just walk in and tan. There is always a 30 minute wait to get into a booth. I spend more time waiting to tan than I actually am in a booth tanning. Who has time for that???? So frustrating

I'd like to share my experience as a returning member at this gym. When I first joined, I had a smooth workout routine in the evenings with my boyfriend. Now, visiting in the mornings with my friend hasn’t felt the same. The first incident occurred when we were in the 30-minute circuit room, I was using the quad extension machine, and my friend was on the laying down hamstring machine. A few minutes in, one of the older gentlemen in the room approached my friend, asking if he could hop on the machine while she took a break. She kindly agreed, indicating she just had a couple more reps left. Once she finished, she came over to stand by me while I wrapped up my set. Shortly after, a staff member approached us, mentioning that someone had complained we weren’t adhering to the circuit and that we had declined the gentleman’s request to use the machine. This was quite surprising for us, as we had genuinely followed the request to share access, and neither of us was aware of any specific circuit guideline—we’ve not seen anyone strictly adhering to it in the past. It felt unfair to be mistakenly reported, especially since the man who notified the front desk seemed to be friends with the individual who had approached my friend. The second incident took place in the massage chair room. We were enjoying our usual session in the massage chairs, and as it came to an end, we began to gather our belongings. Just as we were getting up, this lady entered the room to use one of the chairs. I politely walked past her, saying "excuse me," and to our surprise, she sharply replied that we needed to wipe down the chairs. Without saying anything in response, we decided to grab the paper towels and spray bottle to clean the chairs, wanting to handle the situation gracefully. However, the lady then made a remark about how nobody would want to sit in our sweat, which led to a brief moment of tension between us. I felt compelled to remind her that we were already taking care of the situation and that her tone was unnecessary. We had simply forgotten about the cleanup in our rush to get home and complete other tasks. Had she approached us more kindly, it could have resulted in a different interaction, but her disrespectful demeanor puzzled us. We continued going to the gym until today, when one of the employees, whom I assume was the manager, mentioned several complaints about us not wiping down the equipment. I explained that we always clean the machines and suggested he check the security footage. His response was that he believes the majority rather than us, even though he hadn’t yet reviewed any footage. It felt like my friend and I were being unfairly targeted, possibly due to our age and gender. Our perspective seemed to go unheard, and it was disappointing that no one took the time to ask for our explanation. We believed we were responsible enough to handle situations on our own without needing to report every minor issue at the front desk. The manager warned us that our memberships could be revoked if another complaint arose, yet he didn’t specify which machines we allegedly neglected or who had complained. With no clear information provided, my friend and I felt compelled to cancel our memberships, as we didn’t want to continue attending a gym where we felt anxious about receiving vague complaints. We pay the same monthly fee as everyone else, and our goal has simply been to work out, and respect others in the space. We certainly never intended to disrespect anyone, nor did we ever refuse to clean equipment—it was always our intent to do the right thing. Despite our best efforts to stay under the radar and respect others, it seemed we had unfortunately upset several individuals at the gym. The entire experience left me feeling out of place and deeply upset; it brought me to tears because I know, in my heart, that we acted respectfully and consistently wiped down equipment and we were made out to be bad people. Overall, the treatment we received from the employees and other gym-goers was profoundly unfair. I wish I could write more!

I went to the Centerville location to sign up and waited for over 20 minutes and no one came to the desk. So I drove over to this location. Brittney was great. She signed me up, answered my questions, gave me a tour and run down of the machines. I am glad I came to this gym. It's very clean and all the staff is nice and helpful.

This is about billing, not the gym. As far as the gym I took a tour and they seemed too cardio heavy and not enough machines and little to no free weights. Another person also told me about plate limits on leg press, I can't verify but if so that would be a problem for me. Other than that it seemed clean and organized, although that lunk alarm seems like some sort of virtue signaling type thing, sets up a weird vibe.

So I did not join due to billing. PF has a stupid policy about that your checking account is the only place they will take payment from, and I do not want anyone having access to my checking account. Everyone else I do business with is fine with credit card, my online bill pay or check, but not PF, gee they must be special! I said fine, how about if I pay up a year in advance and you stay out of my checking account. PF agreed after the sales person made a call, however I would not get the discounted price that monthly paying members received. I find it obnoxious and bizzare that forward paying a whole year meant that I pay more. It kind of matches the vibe that they think they are special.

I have been a Planet Fitness member for 8 years and have went to several locations. The Sugarcreek location has by far exceeded all of the others. This has been my home gym for majority of the years. I want to give a huge shout out to the morning crew as no other compares. This last year I have switched my routine from evening workouts to early morning workouts. The morning team has ALWAYS been so bright & welcoming. They encourage you, and always check in with you. I want to ensure they get credit where credit is due :) Thank you for being a bright light to my mornings!!

So unfortunately what they say about Planet Fitness is true, it's not the best place.

I've used probably close to 8 different gyms in my life and I've never been judged by how I dress or how I use the equipment until I came here.

No joke I've used this location about 6 times so far. One time I came in wearing a cut off. The lady at the desk (who was really nice about it) said I cannot come in here wearing one next time. I found it odd as I generally see people in them there but I agreed I wouldnt wear it next time. Just feels weird to be told I can't wear a shirt usually designed for people to work out in

The next time I came in I went upstairs and used a machine, I wiped it off when I was done and walked about 10 feet over to another one. Not a minute later some short jacked dude comes yelling at me telling me to wipe down my machine, after arguing with him telling him I JUST DID I go back to my work out.

Then HIS WIFE comes up to me complaining more about how I handled it as if I shouldn't be upset that some tiny man called me out fo not doing something I did.

Again I've spent probably close to a decade at this point working out and have NEVER had any issues with staff or other people around me until I came here.

However, despite all that, the staff is very friendly and the equipment and gym is always clean. Which is why I still give it 3 stars. This place is clearly not for everyone, if you want to wear whatever you want and not get berated by tiny short dudes with egos you should probably venture elsewhere.

I've been coming to this location since February due to the awful renovations going on at the Centerville location and I'm so glad I was pushed over here!
The staff are so incredibly friendly and make my experience so convenient every time I come in. They are very welcoming, cheery, and even selfless at times to make the experience as great as it can be.
I see the employees around frequently cleaning machines and restocking paper towels and spray bottles. Bathrooms and locker rooms are always clean and ready to use.
Very happy with this location!

My husband and son joined the sugar Creek gym a month ago. They always go together. We purchased the Black card membership for my son whom will be 18 in June. Nowhere on the site or in the gym did it state he couldn't have access to massage chairs. Since he and my husband have been going together they always go back together, no problem 5 days a week. Today however my son went just a minute behind my husband and was told he wasn't allowed. When my son asked Justin to get his dad he stated "it wouldn't make a difference" and refused to get my husband. My child was left there unable to contact his father because of some jerk at the counter in an who trip. When I called, Justin stated "some gyms have a policy about minors" but also confirmed that they don't state this. I find it deceitful that they are willing to take our money for the BCM but my son is only allowed to use it depending on the mood of the person at the counter. He does not go as a guest, he actually has a BCM of his own. I genuinely believe my son was discriminated against because he's not a meathead and find it odd when my spouse is present this hasn't happened. So technically you're stealing money from teenagers that are paying for a service you don't allow them. Justin was not able to point out anywhere that this "policy" is stated and both intend on moving their membership elsewhere for deceitful and discriminatory practice.

Update: The response from the "owner" that responded actually directed me to a generic social media email which resolved nothing. I again contacted the location which is my son's home gym where he is signed up and spoke with Chris whom stated that while our son was sold a Black card there he could not use it there. I inquired about cancelling and he made it sound like a whole ordeal. I'm highly disappointed that the supposed shocked response by "owner" was inauthentic and that we've paid for something our son can't use while Chris acted as if this was common practice. My son could have just tagged along with my husband at no cost to work out or had a classic with lower fees and annual membership fee and no doubt they won't refund what he could not use. If you sign your child up here ask them for written documentation specifying their ability/inability to actually use what you're paying for. I also noticed on my Google transcript that they stop recording as they say they do as soon as they pick up. Be leery.

By far the best layout of any planet fitness I've been to. I have a black card membership and have been to over 10 different pfs across the country and this is the best one I've seen. I go out of my way to go to this one when I'm in Ohio.
Staff is always super friendly and helpful, facilities are clean, layout is conducive to giving privacy, finding the right machine, and waiting to use one if someone else is using it. Plenty of space, lots of mats. Fantastic.

Joined PF due to the convenient hours. Open 24/7 is a huge perk and really accommodates busy professionals. My previous gym had a later start time than I would have liked and working out after a long day created sub par workouts. The facility is always spotless and the employees have been friendly and accommodating. The only thing I would like to see is more attachments for the cable machines (mag grip attachments).

I went to this location purchased headphones the front desk opened them not realizing they were not for iPhone. front desk got the manager to refund me this happened Monday 4/10/2023 and they money has still not been refunded to my account for something I did not end up receiving. EXCELLENT FITNESS CENTER
(This is a follow-up to a review that I wrote almost 4 years ago)
Sometimes, over years a facility can change for the better or for the worse. Interestingly enough this P.F. has remained excellent.

The staff is very friendly and helpful. There's always a smile and nice greeting when you arrive and a pleasant goodbye when you leave.

In the "Age of Covid" it's comforting to know that the P.F. staff keeps the facility clean: there's not a moment that one of the staff is not walking around cleaning the equipment, making sure that the paper towels and cleaning formula for members use are sufficiently stocked, and that the locker/bathrooms are clean. Of course, it's up to the individual members to "wipe down" the equipment after using it. Most do. A very few don't, and when one of the staff notices this infraction the member will be reminded.

For the BLACKCARD members, that area is spotless. In the "Age of Covid" it's comforting to know that they do care.

As a senior citizen I have found this facility easy to navigate. There's even an elevator if someone wants to use the upper floor workout area.

This facility is a hallmark for other gyms to emulate.

Update: Thank you for the response. I looked and found that all the Planet Fitness in Montgomery County and this one just a block out of Montgomery County all seem to have the 24/5. The one in West Chester is 24/7. Not sure why just one in the Montgomery County can't be 24/7. I remember hearing the Springfield one was 24/7 at one point too.

Friendly staff! Very clean gym. Large locker rooms. The machines are in great condition. Lots of free weights and 5 Smith machines. There's an upstairs with additional cardio equipment and weight machines.

Decent equipment but cancelling my plan is a complete pain for no reason. I was home from college for the summer and bought the Black Card and I didn't cancel it before I went back to college (5 hours away). Turns out you can't cancel by phone or email and you have to be there in person to cancel it or by mail (is this 1940???). I don't even have a mailing unit at my apartment complex so it's literally impossible for me to cancel it from 2 states away. Keep in mind, that they don't tell you this when you buy your plan. I would have gone to cancel it in person before I left otherwise. They also charged $41.63 from my card for no reason and still haven't given me an explanation when I sent a message to customer service. Like I said, the gym is nice and has decent equipment, but make sure you know what you're getting into. I will keep asking about the charge to my account until I get an explanation and a refund.

Edit: $41.63 "annual maintenance" fee when I was a member for a month and a half at the time and still can't transfer club memberships (because I haven't been a member long enough) despite being able to be charged for "annual maintenance" lmao what a joke

I would give this place zero stars if it was an option. Start with a million high school kids standing around. Then add novice lifters trying to injure themselves. Then a touch of the most out of shape employees standing around staring at you at the front desk. Really need seven people to hand out candy and watch you scan your app? Not sure where they find these employees other than the local homeless shelter or halfway house. Maybe find someone that looks in shape to work at your gym? Then we add the cherry on top: the 22 year old Karen manager named Kristin who lives for annoying people and demanding that they randomly wipe off machines that no sweat can be found on. She had so many millennial catchphrases for me that I wonder how she got out of her safe space to show up to “work”. Simply the worst gym ever.

this one employee is such a joke ive been coming to this gym for a year now and ive always worn the same 3 shirts and now all of sudden out of no where he won't let me in because of the shirt i was wearing when 1 i was there an hour prior working out in the same shirt (yes i came back for round 2) and 2 like i previously stated ive been wearing the same 3 cut offs for a year now and when i confronted him about it and said "ive been going here for a year and have been wearing the same 3 shirts" all he could say was "uhhhhh ive never noticed" ive firmly have seen him and he says have a good workout when i scan in while wearing the same shirt honestly such a clown

Gym is very clean and nice, but it’s also the only planet fitness I’ve been to that charges for eye protection in tanning beds. Tri-County / Riverside / Newport and a few others never charge for eye protection. Even though it is a dollar for the STICKERS, just seems a little ridiculous.

This is the best Planet Fitness that my husband and I have ever been to. We have traveled extensively and used other Planet Fitness locations. We love our home gym. It is never too crowded and the staff is courteous and friendly. The gym is always spotlessly clean.

Not enough equipment compared to othe PF locations. Almost always, the equipment is being used by someone sitting on the equipment using their infernal communication devices.

If all you intend to do is run in place for cardio, they have an overabundance for that.

Absolutely terrible. We're currently living in 2021 and not only is it impossible to cancel your membership online, but the staff also refused to do it over the phone. They were downright rude, refused to give me a corporate number, and told me they were giving me a number to speak to their general manager, but just gave me the same number that I called.
I'd recommend staying away until they can find their way into the 21st century.

UPDATE: The manager called and threatened to report me to credit agencies if I had my bank block payments. This entire place gives off scummy vibes.

Great Planet Fitness Location. The staff are always helpful and answer any questions you have. The gym is always clean and is super spacious. Everyone just kind of does their own thing. The amenities are nice and the locker rooms make distancing easy. Their amount of stuff you get with their black card membership is awesome as well.

The front staff and manager are unbelievably rude. I started working for the hospital and there’s a free gym inside the facility. I went to cancel my membership and I’m still being charged. There is no one to speak to because they are “individually owned” and Ray, the manager, is the only one who can refund the payments to my account. This place is a joke.

This is the best Planet Fitness in the Dayton, Ohio Area, this location is the cleanest location in the area as well. The staff take very good of this location. I have never had to complain to the staff about anything not being clean here. I wish I could say that the Englewood location kept their locker rooms as clean as this one. I think that the manager at this location makes sure that his staff stay on top of making sure that the gym is clean
