Gym has a good selection of weights , more then most gym and staff are pretty helpful. Parking included. The financial side of powerhouse is terrible. I tried to cancel my membership but you have to go there or mail a letter to them... I mailed several but they ' never received them'. I ended up closing my discover to stop them billing me every month. They then sent a collection letter to my former address , will attempt to collect a debt and sell it to a third party. Fortius financial seems predatory and anyone who wants to join should be aware of their practices. Gym is decent but once you join it's a nightmare to get out

I just recently signed up for a membership and this gym has it all! The staff is incredibly friendly and helpful and they have pretty much anything you can ask for in a gym. There are definitely a lot of plate machines but most people are great at re-racking when they are done with the machine. There is genuinely nothing I could complain about!

Close to the convention center, great gym, reasonable price for a day pass and they also let you rent a towel, which was helpful for me as I travel

Great gym. Excellent blend of old school with the latest exercise equipment modalities (two different pendulum squat machines)
$30 for a day pass is steep if you are coming from out of town, but $60 for a week pass is certainly reasonable and the better option if you are.

Very nice 24hr gym to go to for a decent price, only thing I have against it is the floor needs redone as some of the mats are quite worn out making the ground a little uneven and updating the equipment along with the weights as they do not feel like weight listed or the bolts are loose which makes the weight more difficult to press and lift. I do like their mirror room, but they need to adjust the lighting in there because its way too bright and makes taking post gym more difficult. If these get improved id definitely give its 5 star flowers.

A great place to work on your functional fitness since you will spend 30% of your workout re-racking the weights that the last person left on and around the equipment.

That said, the staff are kind and helpful. The space is being modernized with quite a few new machines as we speak. The unique space is well cleaned in spite of the disarray.

Everything you need and nothing you don’t. I’ve been to many gyms, some commercial and some concrete boxes with a bench. Each has their own place. The Pros gym is the perfect balance between that old school grunge with all of the things you’d want from a good commercial gym. Saunas, posing rooms, great vibes with amazing equipment. The vibes are always great, everything is clean. What more could you ask for

The Pros Gym is one of the very few gyms I genuinely look forward to training at—and that’s not something I say lightly.

I’ve spent time in some of the best hardcore training facilities in Ohio—Metro Fitness North, Full Throttle Fitness (Jon Wies’ place), and I’ve even drawn inspiration from the legendary Westside Barbell and Louie Simmons’ legacy. So when I say The Pros Gym holds its own in that class, I mean it.

There’s a raw, focused energy here that reminds me of what real strength culture is all about. No fluff. No pretense. Just serious training with the right people, the right equipment, and the right vibe. You walk in and immediately feel like you’re in a place built for results—whether you’re a bodybuilder, a powerlifter, or just someone who trains with purpose.

It’s not just a “fitness club.” It’s a gym in the truest sense of the word. And the community? Top-tier. Respectful, motivating, and welcoming—no egos, just mutual support and shared grind.

To anyone serious about their training and tired of the watered-down commercial gym experience, this is where you need to be.

Was pretty excited to try this gym out while in town. First it is way over priced for a day pass at $30. It is worth $10 at most for a day pass. Second, the gym is small and the equipment is mediocre at best. Yes, it has old school equipment but honestly in my 20 years of lifting and working out at more than 50 gyms across the country. This is in my bottom 10 gyms I have ever been too. The hype of this gym is way over rated. Save your $30 and try a different gym.

I was in town for an event and wanted to find a nice gym other than the hotel gym. Pro's gym seemed to fit the bill. However, I was told that because the Arnold was taking place, the day pass would be $30... I thought that was a steep price, but I would have paid it. So, I asked one of the guys there to let me take a look at the gym to see what I would be getting for my fee. But, unfortunately, I was t old... NO!... that i could not go past the entryway, that I could only look... that I had to pay first. I thought all gyms, at least, would give you a (tour) of the facility before paying... I guess not.

I’ve been going here for a while and I was generally happy here until this week. Twice in one week I go to workout in the morning just for the system to be down and to be unable to get in. This means I woke up at 3am, rushed to get ready, drank my pre, just to get all the way there and have the gym be unavailable to me. This isn’t the first time this has happened either and they don’t send out any notices to let you know what’s going on with the system. You basically have to roll the dice when staff isn’t there on whether or not you’ll actually be able to use a facility you pay a lot of money for that claims to be open 24/7. So 24/7 doesn’t really mean 24/7.

This gym is open 24/7, 365 days a year, and it's never too crowded. However, since it's located downtown, you might encounter some street closures during big events. The good news is that there's free garage parking available. The staff is super friendly and the equipment is top-notch. It's a compact space, and everyone here is super focused. You might even bump into your favorite bodybuilder!

Ok, well first, this is NOT a powerlifting gym. I was here on travel and made the mistake of going here bc it was close to my hotel. It is dirty and worn out, no one puts plates away, just super disappointing. I have gone to a good gym for a long time and forgot that there were still places like this mailing it in. I guess when the sign in the entry talks about being a lifestyle brand, one should turn around and leave.

This is a high quality iron gym with no frills. I went for a day pass that was just around $20 or so.
I went midday during the week and had no wait for machines. This gym had almost everything I needed except for just a few newer styles of machines that was easy enough for me to replace with an alternative.
I think areas that this gym could improve would be to have some updated equipment, self-locking lockers so you don’t need to bring your own. Towel service. Otherwise loved the layout, setup and vibe.

The monthly rate is fair, the membership terms are flexible, it's unpretentious, people are friendly, there is plenty of equipment, and they stay open long hours and when other places are closed. There are also plenty of weights and spaces for squats and deadlifts. The men's room is dirty and smells like sewage. The equipment is maintained poorly.

A trainer there named Shawn N is awesome at coaching towards varying goals - but manages to be accommodating, well priced, and gives great advice. His plans enabled me to progress on my own with no pressure to buy more time. I've referred several people to him and everyone thinks he's great.

There are a number of quirks, but, oddly, most of the negatives seem to be things that could be easily corrected: inadequate cleaning, a filthy locker room, mislabeled dumbbells, and not enough pins for the machines. The crowd is eclectic to say the least - a couple people who seem to live here (or their car) to power lifters who deadlift a literal ton. Dank rooms in the basement are seriously sus.

The manager is present, most of the desk staff are friendly. It's a diverse crowd, but nobody is aggressive - I can't relate at all to previous reviewers who encountered unfriendly people. I've seen the manager immediately escort someone out and terminate their membership for acting inappropriately - that was impressive.

If you live or work downtown, it's the best option if you want a legit workout and can overlook quirks. If you don't live nearby, they give parking passes for the adjacent lot which is good after 5pm.

I can usually get equipment I want to use. It would be nice if they had safety bars for more than 1 bench press. Some of the machines are missing pins for the 5lb increments, making it so you have to go up in 10lb increments. The chest press machines are missing them on both sides, so you have to go up 10lb increments per arm.

Came here for a lift when we were in town for the Arnold. Had a great back day! The Arnold bring in town I’m sure added way more people than typically do it was pretty full inside. Plenty of options for equipment. The girls locker room didn’t feel very private for changing. There was a posing room but the door was locked so we didn’t see it. We got lucky with a parking spot right out front. Did the $30 day pass. Plenty of merch options available on site. The guy at the front desk was nice but he seemed flustered with the increased crowd.

The gym is not worth the price. The only benefit is good gym culture from the people that go here. Management is shady and don’t know how to run a good business, they had old equipment that broke, and the place regularly had broken air conditioning. They are super shady or bad with cancellations. It is difficult to cancel your membership since it has to be in person. They also require a 30 day notice, so you’ll be charged at least once after you cancel. For me I have been charged for the past 4 months after cancellation. I hope this is negligence, but I suspect it being shady since the other policies about cancellation make it difficult.

I used to love this gym but more and more lately the upkeep has been severely lacking to the point where there's equipment that hasn't been maintained for months when it's clearly extremely damaged like a bench press with foam carved out of it from use. The duct tape used to patch it has even been worn out.

Not to mention no one reracks their weights at all here, which is a community thing mostly but you'd think the staff would do a once over every now and then so that people aren't forced to dig through a rack of 45s to get to a 10 or a 25 on the squat racks.

On top of that there's not enough handles to go around on the cable machines either or one stack is missing a pin that can't be found anywhere so I need to go on a scavenger hunt for an attachment just to do my lifts.

If this wasn't the only relatively well equipped and accessible bodybuilding-style gym downtown, I'd have gone elsewhere and it really pains me to see that it's been allowed to get this bad the past couple years :/

Been going here for about a year now and I absolutely love it. It is an old school grungy gym so I wouldn't expect shiny new equipment. Everyone that comes here is there to better themselves and it is a totally judgement free zone. I enjoy being apart of this community. The only reason I gave 4 stars is because I think that the cleanliness in the locker rooms and the bathrooms could use some work but that's an easy fix. All in all though I much prefer this gym than waiting behind 20 ppl for a machine at Esporta or another commercial gym.

If I could give this place zero stars I would. I went to this gym while in town for the Arnold and was extremely excited to get a workout in here, but boy was I disappointed. To start off, the gym is absolutely FILTHY, there were empty energy drink cans EVERYWHERE, food wrappers, empty water bottles littering the floors, the bathrooms/locker rooms, the sitting area downstairs by the locker rooms, the window sills. It’s also falling apart, the paint is destroyed, theres cracks in the ceiling. The women’s bathroom was disgusting, there was a full trash can sitting on top of a toilet seat. I understand you have an influx of people attending your gym because of this event, but it isn’t hard to put more people on staff to prepare for the chaos that’ll occur at a gym like this during this time. Secondly, the people there were just extremely obnoxious, taking their shirts off in the weight room (there’s literally a posing room for a reason), screaming and yelling, tripods were everywhere. I go to a gym where a lot of people film, and there’s a respectful way to do it, but that was not the case here. Thirdly, the equipment was not great, it was extremely rusted, the machines were not smooth whatsoever, I could barely read the dumbbells weight, the cables downstairs were outdated, and again, they were all filthy. I think 30$ is a lot for a day pass to a gym that’s falling apart/filthy with mediocre equipment and extremely distracting disrespectful members.

Edit to respond to owner.

Gym is a 3/5 for the same reason a 3 star hotel is not a 5 star hotel.

It has all the basic amenities you need to get a good workout in and get the job done absolutely, I enjoyed my time using this gym. But in today's market in regards to gyms it is very outdated and some stuff could use updating.

3/5 as an average rating fits this gym. It is a good gym, it is an average gym, but it is not a "5 star hotel" in the gym market

The place is pretty good if you know it's history. It's a gym that's been around for a while so the building looks older. It's right down the road from the convention center the Arnold Expo is held at so it's often been the gym they train at around that time. It's got a smaller area as the main area but it has a bunch of smaller rooms ; kinda hidden till you get to walking around an finding them.. Tbh I don't think I've found them all; an definantly haven't used them all.

They got a many of the basic machines you need an a couple unique ones. The dumbell selection goes very high in weight iirc. Not a ton of treadmills like the usual gyms designed to sell membership contracts to people who will sign up for a year an never come back. It's geared towards lifters if anything. They have a smaller stretching an heavybags area but the standing bags are pretty busted up. This is the main reason I go to a lot of gyms though.

They got a few showers. Many lockers are busted. They got a nice quiet room with walls of mirrors for posing, studying your development an taking photos/videos. This is pretty nice to me an im sure others who are legit interested in fitness, arts, an body sculpting. People seem pretty nice an knowledgeable too. No restaurant but you can order specialized meal delivery on certain dates

I've visited The Pro's Gym twice during business trips. The gym is iconic, old-school with timeless memorabilia. Ample equipment, both cardio and resistance. Even during peak hours, the gym doesn't feel crowded and you can always find empty equipment. Sure, could the space use some TLC? Yes, but that's not the environment. There's history to the gym and it really is a nice change from cookie-cutter, commercial gyms. Friendly environment with approachable staff as well.

This place is hilarious, literally everything is broken, cracked, chipped, grimy, walled off, or torn down, the entire basement smells like sewage, air conditioning hasn’t worked all summer, equipment is never where it was before and just lays around in piles randomly, the floor setup is cramped af, and the monthly price isn’t even cheap. I live close but I’m switching to a different gym, “pro” is the last thing this place should be called. It’s like if a gym was where the killer chased people around in a horror movie.

Don't sign up for a membership here. Stop in for a workout, but staff isn't good and they don't have the equipment you think they would. Gym doesn't have the atmosphere the advertise. I think its the manager(s) or the Manger and a friend, but two guys in the morning always film each other and don't seem to care if they get other members in their videos.

Well worth the money. As an OSU student I never wanted to go to the campus gyms as they were always packed, far away with no parking, and had an odd assortment of machines and free weights that left me wanting. The Pro's Gym has renewed my love for weightlifting and has me excited to go every day.

You get what you pay for…and that’s a good thing. A no frills, friendly, clean enough gym that doesn’t overcharge for things you don’t care about. Why pay crazy rates for a pool, sauna, spa if you are here to pump some iron? This gym is filled with people who want to work out and get a good pump. If you are looking for a place to BS with your buddies and pretend you are getting stronger look elsewhere. There are plenty of other places to do that.

Pros - atmosphere of serious bodybuilders and lots of heavy dumbbells and 4 power racks

Cons - shirtless nutsacks taking up real estate taking videos of themselves to wack off to later. Also equipment is old and squeaky

I've been a member of this gym since November of 2018.

It's never been the nicest gym in terms of appearance or equipment but the location, price, monthly subscription availability, and staff are all great. I've always had positive experiences dealing with staff and other members.

But enjoy trying to cancel your membership virtually. They require you to either go in person and cancel or send your request by certified mail. Not a big deal until you get ready to move out of state and one of your many monthly subscriptions are the least of your worries. Once you're out of area it becomes infinitely more annoying and frustrating to cancel your membership. I'm acutely aware this is in the contract, but this is something I would expect to see present in gyms of the early 1900's, not 2022 where you can do most things virtually.

I actually enjoyed this gym despite it's many shortcomings. Most of the equipment is outdated. They've stated they are reupholstering equipment, while this is true don't expect it to be done quickly. This project often renders multiple pieces of equipment down while this task is completed. Even once the equipment is reupholstered don't expect it to feel new, there is dirt caked onto the machines that probably does actually date back to the 1980's. Their reupholstering project had potential, but their efforts could have been better allocated elsewhere.

Often pieces of equipment will break and repairs will take far longer than they should.

More than half of the treadmills aren't worth using due to their age, you can't run on them without sounding like the stampede that trampled Mufasa.

Don't expect anything to feel or look clean. The glass door to the sauna was not clean in November of 2018 and still had not been cleaned by January 2022. I've been staring at the ever multiplying fingerprints and smudges in 20 minute increments for the last 3 years. Often paper towels or cleaner are absent to clean equipment. The bathrooms too, remember the last dive bar you went to and the floor was wet, everything was dirty, and half the urinals/toilets didn't work? Pretty much that.

This gym gets the job done depending on what you're willing to put up with, but don't expect it to feel modern or clean. Like I said, I only had positive experiences with the staff and other members. This is not an attack at any of the personalities inhabiting the gym. This review is targeted at the outdated equipment, cleanliness issues, and outdated policies.

I'll be sending over my certified letter this week and will update on how smoothly that process goes. I actively made the decision not to cancel my membership while COVID ramped up during the months I wasn't using the gym because local businesses were struggling - I can confidently say that was a mistake. The Pro's Gym should focus on actually making some real improvements to the gym and get rid of some of their outdated practices.

Gym still remains great for weight lifters of all kinds. There is a mix of new and old equipment as they try to update. Limited bar clips, which can be frustrating. Plenty of squat racks. A deadlifting platform that has definitely been used, but still nice to have. It's a pretty gritty place but the customers really make the gym and inspire you to work hard.

Gym is decent. However, I requested cancellation via the website and they continued to charge my card until I had my bank stop the charges. Now they have sent me a letter saying they will send my account to collections. Very shady practices. I haven’t been to the gym in 6 months and they continue to try and charge me and are trying to squeeze every dime they can out of me. Good luck canceling. Be better “The Pro’s Gym”. I’ll be having my attorney send you a letter.

Some of the members are rude and disrespectful and itis mainly the guys. I would tell some of the guys to eait there turn and they would cuss me out as well and I will not put up with that at all. Some people are on there cellphones and I hate that as well because people need to use the gym equipment. I like the gym I go to now because it is 24 hours and I they have a no cellphone policy as well. I should not have to wait a couple weeks for things to change so I can exercise and this behavior is not acceptable at all.

The place has seen better days. The equipment is old, which I don’t mind, but it could be maintained better like repainting the weight numbers on the dumbbells, racks and machines. A lot of the benches need new upholstery. Even with the giant window it feels very dark. Need new lighting and different color scheme. The downstairs is a dungeon with dirty dark rooms housing some equipment. Flickering lights highlight the graffiti on the walls with what’s supposed to be motivational words but it feels like I made a wrong turn on Cleveland Avenue. The men’s locker room is abysmal. Smelly urinals and shadowy dark showers will make you think twice about going barefoot in there or even taking your clothes off to shower. I don’t know, maybe this is the image they are gunning for but it feels like I am in the hood and I need to pack some heat for protection. The only reason I would join is because of the people training there. They are there to build muscle. It’s not your average Joe gym with people who workout their eyes more than their bodies by staring at their phone or tv. If you can get passed the dinginess of the place then join. For me I need a little more.

This is THE gym. If you are into lifting and love a more serious vibe, this is it. You have found it. I have gone to multiple gyms throughout my life and this one takes the cake. It has an immaculate old school bodybuilding feel that is unmatched. The people that go are hardcore into lifting and such a motivation. I've never gone and it's been packed packed, and the staff is very nice and answers any questions. I simply love this gym.

So I had an issue were they couldn't withdraw $ to renew my membership because my card wasn't updated. They claimed to had try to contact me for 3mths. Long story short I woke to $ missing from my bank account, which was the total amount I needed to pay. So here's my issue if you couldn't get it on my old card for 3mths but took it off when I'm in debt on a new one.....I call BS on that.

Final Note: try mailing next time😡😡😡

I've been going to Powerhouse only because it's walking distance from my house. If I had another option within walking distance, I'd probably go there. Don't get me wrong, this gym isn't all bad but it definitely could use some sprucing up. The bathrooms/basement area always smell like sewage and flood somewhat frequently. The equipment is pretty old school, which some like, but it all could use a good cleaning. Cardio machines are dust-covered and almost all have their cupholders missing. The rec-room upstairs always has stuff everywhere and mats/balls are just in a heap on the side for you to dig through. The tile flooring in there separates and will pinch you. Another con, which they can't help, is the bus stop out front makes for some interesting interactions. People pee in the ally near the exit and homeless people hangout there. BUT, if you're looking for a classic gym that welcomes the big, beefy, grunting, bodybuilder type, this gym is great for that. People are serious about their work outs. If you can overlook the cosmetics of some of it, this gym is pretty cool.
