I like the facility and the staff is friendly. I usually go in and do water aerobics in the morning and there's hardly ever anyone in the pool. If I had to say a negative, it would be that the pool space is split between the swimming pool and a play pad area for kids. I really find the play pad to be a waste of space. I think it could have been half the size that it is, and that the pool area could have been larger. The gym/basketball court seems to always be occupied by teams or organizations, so it's hard to get any free play time in there. Well, I think it's a positive for a community. I would like to see some changes.

The place is clean and well-maintained. Itβs super convenient and not too expensive, at $60/month for a couple. It has all the basic amenities including full bathrooms, storage cubbies, and vending machines. The only downsides would be that the pool (and the entire place) is on the smaller side, as others have said already.

Mediocre at its best. Iβve been going here since it first opened and sure they have a decent gym with decent equipment but the part where it really gets frustrating are the basketball courts. I switched to a different gym because I come off of work and I want to play some basketball, but every time I want to play, the courts are reserved for volleyball, senior classes, etc. itβs absurd. There was a situation last winter where I invited all of my hometown friends to play full court basketball but they restricted us to only half court because they βwanted other people to play alsoβ when there was nobody else on the court besides my group and the manager wasnβt even willing to communicate with us. Do whatever it takes but quit reserving the courts for things other than basketball. I get there are other people paying too for their needs and wants but build another designated room for the other activities

Fairly new place, nice modern workout equipment, beautiful basketball and volleyball courts. Workout area is open 24 hours a day for members. Pool is on the smaller size. Wish there were ping pong tables.

Pool is 4ft deep no sunna ,no steam room , no hot tub. How can you call this a rec center? Its in a store front not much room for excersize equitpment. Weird layout. Fyi i have been there recently and the facility is not up to par like Solon or Macedonia. Wouldnt waste my time.

Great place, my only problem is that the basketball courts are always reserved for volleyball. Iβve been coming here since the RAC has opened and never had this problem but recently for the past 2-3 months they are literally always reserved we pay all this money just to not be able to use it. Iβve talked to other people that also come play basketball and they all are having the same problems, to where some people even said they are going to stop coming here.

24/7 room is frequently unavailable. Lots of wasted time showing up at night and early in the morning to find out the tag reader isnβt working. Unless you want to only workout during busy times this is not the place for you - go find a real 24/7 gym that wonβt lock you out.

A decent rec. Center for what it is worth ππΎ
Pros:
Reasonably friendly staff, fairly clean, & decent equipment.
Cons:
Basketball courts need varnish done as they are worn and are slippery, Courts need daily sweeping as the dust is making the courts even more dangerous to play.

No longer a member here thankfully. I only used it for the workout facility. First and foremost they neglected getting the door fixed for so long that they now leave it unlocked. I guess that was one positive instead of it not working EVERY WEEK. They raised the price now to $50 for 2023, NOT worth it. The workout facility is small and dark, even in the daytime. Not well equipped at all. Ended up going to Anytime Fitness which is 10 bucks cheaper, all locations and more equipped overall. Good riddance.

The weight room is great, the track around the basketball courts is nice for a jog or walk especially if it's raining outside. The equipment room (treadmills, ellipticals, etc) has a lot of variety and being open 24/7 is a big plus. The facility overall is pretty clean. With that said the basketball courts are rented out a lot so they can't be used. They also for some reason put a bike chain on the OUTSIDE doors on the emergency exit which has to be a fire hazard and probably illegal as no one can open them up if there was a fire. The pool is small and due to swim lessons and classes is closed a lot (most evenings, Saturday mornings, etc) so if you work a average 9-5 job it's difficult to find a opening other then Saturday afternoons . And although the splash pad is nice there have been multiple times we brought our kids and it wasn't working. All those negatives along with a pretty high price tag for a average family was why we decided after two years not to renew.

A lot to like about RAC but some major issues. Weight room is fantastic. TRX area upstairs is great as is studio, bikes and track. Now the shortcomings. The basketball courts are woefully overcrowded and often completely closed because they rent them out to private groups. I get that it's a business but it doesn't change the fact that you will seldom be able to have a true basketball experience as they always have the volleyball nets down...and that's if you're lucky. Often times, you can't get a court at all. The pool is often closed as well, which my guess is a result of staffing since it's not much of a pool.to begin with. Perfect for little kids though. Finally, they won't allow guest passes. That would be easier to take if they weren't collecting membership fees and then selling the courts away to outside entities at the expense of members.
Lot to like about RAC if you want to have a traditional workout facility. If you're interested in using courts for yourself or your kid(s), I'd look elsewhere. Same if you want to have a chance for your kid(s) to bring a friend.

We are really appreciative to this community center being open to Solon Residents and having a swimming pool and indoor splash pad for kids. Since this is a new facility, really clean and has really nice workout equipment and running track. Really looking forward to being here on gloomy winter days.

The staff is extremely friendly and helpful. However, they are in desperate need for someone to maintain the equipment and do some preventative maintenance.
The facility has a lot of excellent up-to-date cardio equipment including stages exercise bikes and ifit technology. The free weights are limited to what most high-end hotels have.

This is a good place. Not a huge weight room but big enough that if you know how to work you can get a lot done. Big gym. Decent pool. Great indoor track. This place offers nice classes. The price is a bit high but dont be scared it is well worth it if you take advantage of all thats offered. When high school kids are done school it gets packed...dont worry after a month it dies down again and you can get your workouts done in peace.

BEWARE!! Terribly managed gym! They Bait and switch you! Sell you on the facilities amenities and the gym but they always have the gym privately rented out so members canβt use or even step foot in it six days a week. Donβt make my mistake and waste your hard earned money on this gym.

If you're joining hoping to get time to play on the courts stay away. During winters they rent out the courts in the evenings. Volleyball and basketball dominate and you'll never get on the court. The staff is friendly and overall the place is not bad but that's my biggest pet peeve. I did not renew my membership as a result of that.

When we had a membership we enjoyed the amenities. The pool is always clean, and they have a lift to help people in. The gym is a good set up with three of my favorite machines (i.e. continuous rope, stair stepper, Jacobs ladder). They also have basketball courts which are sometimes hard to access because they use them for after school activities. Seems like I should have access to them whenever as a paying member but that simply is not possible. Also, they do not have a way for individual adults to join teams for their leagues. You have to bring your own team entirely. The mezzanine is nice for the winter and walking for older population.

Great place to go get some exercise. They have a workout room, including an on demand video exercise classroom, both are open 24 hours. There is also a gym with 2 basketball courts, and a 12 lap mile track upstairs. There's a nice exercise pool with a separate kids water play area as well. Locker rooms are nice, with showers, and kept VERY clean. Awesome place, great prices too!! Highly recommended.

Joined just a week ago. I have been disappointed since. I paid in full for a year membership for my family. My largest seller was the 24hr gym and access to showers. 3 out of the 4 times I have gone I have not been able to get in. Due to them having trouble with the doors. I called to ask what was going on. The front desk lady said they have been having trouble with the doors for awhile and that's it...I wish I would have known that. My work schedule does not give me the flexiblilty to work out during their hours thus the need for a 24 HOUR FITNESS FACILITY. The ONE time I have been able to swipe in, I went to shower to go to work but was unable to because the water was ICE cold. So I had to hit the hotspots out of the sink. I was warned not to join the RAC. Debating if I should have listened or maybe it's just bad timing. Back to Planet Fitness

My boyfriend and I were very excited to join since we live within walking distance. We signed up for a year. I was excited for the 24/7 gym but also the classes. I had to buy a "fit pack pass" in order to take classes. I believe it was $20 for 8 classes. Frustrating since we were already paying for a membership and classes weren't included.. UNTIL I was told by an instructor (not the establishment) we no longer needed the punch cards and classes were free for members. At the time I had only used 2 classes. I told the front desk who took my name and said they were still "figuring out" what to do for those who had already paid. I asked a week later and there was no update. It's been months now and I never got a refund of any kind. I have also went inside for a class only to find out it was cancelled. If you don't go to every class and hear it from the instructor, there is no communication about cancellations. There are no emails, postings, etc. I wish there was more organization from management about these issues. It seems to cater to seniors and kids more than anyone in between.

Let's start with the positives.
1)It has a pool.
2)It's new, so it's clean and fresh. 3)There is a room where you can take online workout classes when there isn't a class already in session. 4)Machines are nice
Now for the negatives.
1)There are signs posted that say no one under 14 aloud in the work out area....NOT ENFORCED AT ALL!!! We've seen numerous kids in there playing on machines, playing with the medicine balls like basketballs, playing with the yoga and balancing balls and just sitting on equipment playing on their phones . Since there is only one of most of the equipment (with the exception of cardio, like treadmills, elipticle, etc) its aggravating. No one is policing them, and they have no gym etiquette. It's extremely frustrating. We wanted to join a gym, not chuck e cheese.
2)There is a woman who teaches one of the aerobic classes who is VERY rude. We were using the curling bars when she walks in front of us and just starts taking them for her class. No "do you mind if I take these?" or "are you done with these?" or even an "excuse me". Seriously??? We had set our bars down because we were pausing between sets. Sets we couldn't finish because she took the ones we were using. Real nice. For what they charge I would think a little courtesy is in order.
3)The drink vending machine hasn't worked in weeks. We lost money in it and the response when we informed someone was "thanks for letting us know". Seems silly, but so is having a drink machine that you can't actually get drinks from.
We will probably end up joining Planet Fitness because the complaints we have are big ones and not excusable. They need to fix the issues or the people truly looking for a place to work out will certainly look elsewhere. If I can give a word of advice to potential members, definitely try it for a month first. I'm glad we did. I would be very unhappy if we had payed for the year and this is what we had to put up with.
