Roger is the real deal, and has far exceeded my expectations, from when I first sought out my first personal trainer, just six months ago, at the age of 44. I was in search of an expert who was local and accessible, and would best direct the right way for my to get back in shape personally.
Roger met with me, took the time to evaluate my health overall, including mobility, strength, and flexibility, even with my limited experience around the gym. He personalized the right plan for me, and customized an exercise program through his own app, to build me up from the ground up, and has continued to help me develop in my strength, my fitness, my knowledge-base, and best of all, my confidence in understanding how to reach my results in the gym.

I started strength training with Roger almost two years ago at age 52. I’ve been physically active most of my life, but decided to get more serious about my health and quality of life as I age. What started as a personal, immediate goal of gaining muscle and reshaping my body became more of an overall lifestyle change focused on both strength training and nutrition. Great training program so far for about 8 months.
Program - Roger made specific programs towards my goals. So there are plenty of options for what works for you. The routines change up so it doesn't get boring or monotonous and will keep you guessing.
Communication - He communicates with me consistently for not being an in-person client. He follows up on progress and is always asking if anything needs changed or if I have questions. Great attitude and not intimidating. Being local, there are options to schedule appointments to go over anything if I wanted to, so if loacl there are those options as well.
Fitness App - Easy to use and helps keep you on track with notifications. All workouts include videos and detailed descriptions to help you out. Roger is always willing to answer any questions and is timely in response.
Pricing - Super affordable. Based on my experience I would say he is in it to help people reach their goals more than anything. The programs and communication are high quality with an affordable price.
Overall 10/10 would recommend - even if you can't meet in person. I've only done one session in person - the app and online communication has been great. I am renewing for sure.

I hired Roger about 6 month ago. I'm a middle-aged family man who tried to get healthy via periods of diets, calorie counting, sports groups, outdoor running, gym memberships, group workouts, home workout equipment, and home workout videos. None of them lasted or got me the results I wanted. One of those may work for you, but Roger's training is what is working for me.
My favorite things in no particular order are:
- Roger keeps things varied and paced well so that I don't burn out and want to quit. The willpower required to go to the gym is lower than ever.
- Roger takes a balanced, long-term approach instead of a "push through all pain!" mentality. This has helped me to avoid injury while moving FAR more weight than I ever though possible.
- Roger always exceeds my contribution level to our partnership.
- I'm getting results and my wife comments often on the differences she sees.
- Roger takes all the guesswork / ambiguity out of the fitness process.
- Roger is training me to be self-sufficient in the fitness realm.
- On a recent trip to Hocking Hills, I was easily the least out-of-breath person in my hiking group, despite being the oldest by 7 years.

Long overdue review. Trained with Roger for about a year. Very knowledgeable and attentive to detail. Moved out of state and can no longer train with him. However I've kept his fundamentals and use it every day I train. Great experience. Highly recommend.

I’m stoked to write this review about my personal trainer, Roger Bowman. The expertise and guidance he’s provided through my fitness training sessions thus far have been amazing. Im starting from ground zero and have just completed my first four sessions. Roger’s consistency and attention to detail of my sessions keeps me progressing. I have a lot more energy, and feel stronger than I have in years. The results were faster than expected. Yes..,already. His private gym is pristine and comfortable. Roger has top of the line equipment and hooks you up with his personal fitness app that is pretty impressive as well. He’s professional, but fun...super kind and patient. I’m so glad I found him when I did and look forward to my future sessions on my fitness journey. Highly recommend!

Roger is an excellent personal fitness trainer with broad medical anatomy knowledge. He is able to accurately communicate to his clients about their anatomy & physiology at the level of their understanding (including with medical personnel & medical doctors!). He incorporates his clients personal fitness goals & creates a schedule curtailed to the client including time management.
Roger has also been active in building out and monitoring workouts for me through his online fitness app that I was able to easily download and use on my phone to guide me through my workouts with video clips, coaching cues and more (very convenient, helpful and holds me accountable!)... And, he communicates promptly with me when needed through the apps messaging features as well. This means of "remote personal training" is and has been very supportive in striving towards my goals - especially for those like myself that can't see Roger in person on a regular basis.
I would recommend Roger to anyone who wants to improve their physical fitness, whether you are training for an athletic event, aiming to increase muscle strength & tone, or seeking a healthier lifestyle/weight-loss.

I started my journey with you A short time ago and the gains that I have made in the gym speak for themselves. I have gone from a 16 inch bicep up to a 17 3/4, a 17 inch neck to an 18 1/2. 46 inch chest to 48 inch. I feel you have my nutrition and workouts dialed in and I certainly could not be happier. I have never had any personal trainers before. I feel so lucky to have found Roger to be my first instructor. Initially, I was worried about my old injuries and how weight lifting might cause negative impact on my profession as a classical music performer. It turns out to be the most positive and rewarding experience to work with him. He is very professional, knowledgeable, kind and encouraging. He is extremely thoughtful and careful to address each of my concerns. He also designs specific programs for me to follow throughout the week so I can systematically build on every part of my body. I only had 4 sessions with him so far. Not only I have learned so much from him, I already feel stronger. It has been much more beneficial than I ever expected. Roger completely changed my life. I was overweight and unhealthy with many bad habits. I had just hurt myself working out improperly. Roger changed all that. He is not just a trainer that tells you to push some weights up and down and leaves it at that. He combines nutrition, exercise and education and sets you on the correct path. With his help I reduced my weight, became educated about proper exercise so I could drop weight and add muscle in a healthy way. He also helped me gain control over my diet. I have a whole new life now.
If you want to change and you are ready to work, there isn't anyone better.

Roger is an awesome person to work with! He builds unique plans per an individuals abilities and needs. He explains in easy to understand detail lifting techniques and nutrition. I always looked forward to my sessions with Roger because I knew it was going to be a great workout and he was going to push me to new levels I did not think was possible for myself. I am a recovering cardio junkie. I love to run, spin, & sweat my brains out in yoga. But I wanted to change my body composition and metabolism. Everyone told me I had to lift weights. So I met Roger and thought I could train w/ him for a few mos, get a few good exercises/workouts under my belt and then go off on my own. Almost 3 yrs later, I still work my hardest and heaviest when we train together. When I don't feel like lifting on my own, my little Roger voice tells me if I want to maintain what we've built I should, then I do what he says. Which is just like in real time when we train. I almost never believe I can lift or do what he wants me to and then I do! I am definitely more confident in the free weight area and around the weight machines at the gym as a result. Roger is knowledgable, professional and fun. His knowledge about fitness, form, and nutrition is amazing! He knows how much to push and support my body to or beyond its limit w/o injury. My yoga practice and running have benefited from training with Roger too. In summary, working w/ Roger has made a huge difference in my fitness. I still don't love weight training, but I do love the results and Roger, so I keep coming back for more!

I have been training with Roger for about 3-months and have already reached my initial goals with his help. He is incredibly knowledgeable about both nutrition and training. Roger also has a great attitude in the gym--he will push you to achieve more, but is always positive and keeps an eye on form.

So fortunate to have someone this talented in Toledo! I cannot say enough good things about Roger. I am in my early 40s and was struggling achieving my fitness goals and sought out to find someone to help me achieve these goals while juggling the chaos of everyday life. Roger took me on as a client and really started digging into who I was and what my goals were and coming up with a solid (and unbelievably detailed) plan on how to achieve those goals. He's so passionate about fitness it's contagious and makes you want to strive for your goals even harder. Many trainers run the same routine over and over again on their clients even when their goals and ages vary. Roger will create a custom plan perfect for you and make sure you stick to it! I've been working with Roger for 7 months and I could not be happier with the results. I've already lost a significant amount of body fat through training with Roger and through some general dietary advice that he provides. Roger really cares about his clients. He will text you a few times a week to check in on how your training is progressing or if you need any help planning a weekend workout. He also has a lot of knowledge about nutrition and what the healthy and not so healthy foods are. He's always willing to put in (and then some) the time that you're willing to put in. When someone cares about you that much, you have no choice to but to try and care about yourself that much, and that's the way it should be. In the gym, Roger is nothing short of an expert. He shows you how to do a particular exercise 3 times. First he'll show you the right way, then he'll show you the common mistakes people make, and then he'll show you again the right way. Then when its your turn to do the exercise you already know what to look out for and how to do it properly. Also Roger adds the perfect balance between professionalism and laid-back fun attitude in the gym. He makes working out fun, which for me in the past it never was. I recommend Roger without reservation, I am sure he will be an asset to anyone who is looking to make a wellness change.

I had been looking for someone who is both knowledgeable in weight training and nutrition. I have always "worked out" but never gotten the results I craved. I was referred to roger and started training with him about 6 months ago. He is both encouraging and knowledgeable. He also lives what he preaches. He has changed my thinking on nutrition and weight training. I have been weight training for many years without any results- and the things I have learned from roger in the past 6 months is incredible. I can't recommend Rogers training and knowledge enough.

I'd love to post a review for Roger on the foundation of having already "succeeded", but it'll be quite a while before I can call myself successful. What I do know is this: Roger knows how to build a plan and coach a person in the PATH of success. At this point, I've lost 21 pounds, and generally feel healthier. Through partnership with my wife (who's lost around 30 lbs, so far), it's clear that Roger's plan is a sure bet, so long as we stick to it. There's a long journey ahead in building this new lifestyle, but it'll be worth it. Roger will take the guesswork out of nutrition and weight lifting. If you're tired of wondering if your efforts will pay off, call this man!

This is by far the best experience that I've ever had not just trying to loose weight but starting to eat healthy. Being 51 years old at 350lbs and never, that's right never had a bit of meal structure or even understanding it my entire life.
I'm now on track to starting to eat much better than I ever have. no more chips no pop no junk. I have a much better understanding of labels on food and what they really mean and how they can work for me.
After approx. 25 pounds of weight loss in 3 weeks Roger has me on the right path to better health.
The education that i have received has been the key to my movement in the right direction. My only regret is I didn't do this years ago.
I know my doctor is going to be shocked when I check back 4 months from now. His last instructions were to get some weight off and start eating balances meals. This is something I haven't been doing for the last 25 years or more
My energy level is coming up and my waistline is going down and it only just starting. One of the coolest things is that my frige is full of the very best things that I love to eat so i'm never hungry.
I feel the need to stand and fish all year and not keep using the seat on my boat oh what a feeling.. you are a Rockstar Roger
I'm sure it will take some time but I see a 5 K in my future with my wife along with many other awesome outdoor events.

When I first contacted Roger I was at a point where I thought their was no hope for me. Zero energy, always hungry, and making a lot of bad decisions. Through Rogers guidance (knowledge) he has helped me realize their is hope, I can do this. In less than 2 months I've lost 38lbs and gained a ton energy. Thanks to his meal plan I'm now eating right, he gave me an exercise plan and kept up on my progress, when I was ready he sent me a new and more challenging program. If you goals are to look your best and muscle train for aesthetics then Roger is an excellent coach and consultant.
I contacted Roger to help guide me as I progress through my weightlifting and fitness goals. Roger helped me setup my diet, exercise regimen, and offered advice on what supplements might help.
Throughout the consultation Roger answered all my questions and was patient in educating me on the logic behind the fitness plan. I would recommended Roger for anyone that needs a coach or consultant to guide them through the fitness process regardless of experience level and goals. I have always struggled with my weight. Roger set up a nutrition program that was basically fool proof, as long as my willpower was strong. He didn't just tell me what to eat and what not to eat, but he taught me the science of WHY and WHEN to eat it.
