Sawmill Creek Golf Club is a public daily-fee golf club located on the shores of Lake Erie. Situated 45 minutes from both downtown Cleveland and Toledo, Sawmill Creek Golf Club was designed by world-renowned architect Tom Fazio.
Opening for play in 1974 in the small lakefront village of Huron, Ohio Sawmill Creek Golf Club was just the fourth course that Fazio had designed to that date. It's easy to feel like your on vacation when challenging this 6700 yard par 71 layout.

Don't expect to complete 18 holes in less than 5.5 hours. The pace of play here is very slow. Tee time about 8 minutes apart. You will wait to tee off on every hole. Personally, there are better options in the area.

An amazing track! Beautiful layout with large greens that are very well protected by bunkers and water. Fairways are a little tight. Very friendly starter and bag attendants. The only negative thing was that the course was ober saturated without any rain in the last couple weeks. Got no roll in the fairways and it was hard to hit irons out of the wet fairways. Would definitely recommend playing here!

Course is in treble condition. Staff is friendly but just so they can squeeze every dollar out of your wallet. Cart paths are in shambles. You also wonโt be receiving a nice golf cart. Overall donโt waste your 60 dollars on this course. I would recommend going to thunder bird instead its right down the road.

DONT PLAY HERE IF YOU ARE YOU YOUNGER 50! My girlfriend and I stayed at the resort to celebrate our anniversary. We both golf so we wanted to play the course. Checking in for our T time my girlfriend and I got looked over head to toe. We both felt stereotyped as children that donโt know the game. For no reason except we look young. I am 26 and I have been golfing since I was 8. I have been playing in an amateur tour all summer playing exclusive private courses and never been treated this way. I have excellent golf etiquette. I always wear proper attire and have a very nice set of clubs. Heading to get our cart I was asked if I had ever golfed beforeโฆ
ranger followed us for a few holes for what Iโm assuming to be they thought we donโt know what we are doing. We replaced or filled every divot and raked every bunker. I know the hard work it takes to have a to have a top notch course. Last hole we raked a bunker and an employee rolls by and says โhaha thanks for doing that so I donโt have toโ felt like he didnโt expect us to rake bunkers. No chance he makes statements like that to an older generation of golfers. Dropping off the cart I was told โthanks kidsโ. I didnโt get a single interaction from anyone that worked here that treated us as the young adults we are.
Course was in okay to good shape. Greens rolled good. Some areas are very over watered. Itโs been an extremely dry summer but yet there are still swampy T boxes. I enjoyed the layout and bunkers were in good shape.

Beautiful course! Well maintained. The people were friendly and extremely helpful. We came on a Monday so it wasn't overly busy but made a tee time anyway. Enjoyed a beer on the outdoor patio afterwards. Hoping to try the food on another visit. Price was fair. It's a must do if you drop your teens off at Cedar Point for the day!

Solid golf course with the greens and fairways being in good shape. A few rough spots throughout the course.. cart paths were in rough shape. Course is flat with multiple bunkers each hole. Course isnโt going to โWow!โ you but overall solid golf course.
Extremely friendly staff both in the clubhouse and on the course.

Do not play this course. Absolutely in horrid conditions for a resort style course. Do yourself a favor and drive 30 minutes west and play Maumee golf course. Cheaper and an absolutely beautiful course. If thatโs too far drive 10 minutes to either of the thunderbird hills courses. Both of those course are way nice and a fraction of the cost. Weโve been playing sawmill for years. This will be the last time for our group

Plenty to say about this golf course but not enough time. I drove 21/2 hrs. to get there and right from the moment I entered the drive I saw the beautiful hotel and convention center then on to the golf course parking lot. I parked and was greeted by a gentleman bringing me a cart right to my car. Very pleasant to talk with and really liked the service. I spoke with the young man who checked me in and got me pointed in the right direction being new to this course. Everyone I encountered was very polite and helpful. Great service. The pro shop is on the smaller side but very clean and well organized. They do have a pub but I did not have the time to try the food. The course is an excellent track with a nice layout. Tight fairways with most lined by trees and in great condition. The rough was even pretty much anywhere I hit it. Not overly deep but just enough to make you think about hitting out of it. Water does come into play on several holes. The creek runs through several of them and is beautiful! The greens have some pretty good undulations to them and are in very nice condition. There was only one that had any kind of blemish on it.
Being honest and fair the back 9 was a little on the rough side. There was a note on the door stating that it was cart path only on holes 12-18. It looked like they had some pretty heavy rains or something and some damage due to sitting water. The grounds crew was hard at work mowing, rolling and raking the bunkers. The cart paths are a mixture of paved and gravel some of which are a little rough. Non of the things I have mentioned kept me from playing a full 18 holes. I had a great time here and would definitely recommend this course to anyone wanting a challenge.
Love the course and great job. You definitely have a course to be proud of!

I love playing Sawmill Creek. Itโs an incredible course and the facilities are beautiful! Itโs a resort course, designed by Tom Fazio, and I feel like Iโm on vacation when Iโm playing. But, most importantly, the people are amazing. Barb, Barb, Aaron, Abbey, Coach Fischer and his son, Jennifer, the rangers, and honestly everyone there, are incredible people. They are kind, gracious, and go out of their way to insure my comfort. This is by far the best course I play, and itโs easy on the wallet as well! Iโm already looking forward to my next time there.

Beautiful golf course and everyone was friendly and helpful! My only complaint was course management. Letting single players off in between foursomes and twosomes made it frustrating for all. Even with the course being full and keeping up with the group in front of us, the single players seemed to expect to play through. The slow play on the back due to this made us abandon our round early.

Itโs nice that they let you play after the clubhouse closes so you donโt have to rush in. Whatโs not nice is when your golf cart dies with four holes left and thereโs nobody in the club house to answer the phone so you have to push the cart the rest of the way.
I had another bad experience years ago. The course is pretty nice and it seems like mostly bad luck, but it also doesnโt seem like they care if your experience is bad.

It was my first experience at Sawmill Creek and I have nothing but great things to say about this place.Everyone that worked there were very polite and professional. The golf course itself was simply amazing and in great condition. Fast greens, finely manicured fairways and bunkers. The only negative that I can think of is that there isn't a driving range on site. I will definitely be back and look forward playing Sawmill Creek again!!!

The course was in excellent condition despite it being nearly October and the weather being very rainy. Possibly the best course for $30 of 18 hole golf you can get. I was blown away.
The staff was the friendly Iโve met. We were greeted in the parking lot as a staff member brought a cart to us. The lady at the counter said that the pro shop was sold out of course-branded balls. I told her I had a large collection and would look on eBay for one. She went out to her vehicle and found a branded ball, meeting me on the 1st tee box to give it to me. I canโt stress how genuine and nice these people are. I was touched.
The club is neat, clean, and organized. The restaurant attached to it has a full bar, excellent food, and a friendly staff. You wonโt regret playing here.

This was a course I was invited to and had never played before. Very happy that it happened. Very well maintained property with a fantastic staff. Cedar Point is putting money into and it shows by how she plays. Greens are receptive and very quick. You do not want to be above the hole here. Also, considering the rain they received (there was a pump you pull with a truck and a 6" pump hose) she wasn't that wet at all. Will be back for this one again! Highly recommend

Friendly golf pro shop and bar staff. The course was in nice shape. Some issues I saw: 1. It was a warm humid Saturday and there was no beverage cart on the course. If you stopped to pick up beverage/food at the turn, you lost your place on the course..no rangers to be seen either. 2. The course has most holes closely adjacent to another. Multiple times there were errant golf balls finding there way on the hole one was playing. This also lead to golfers on adjacent holes playing shots from the hole you were trying to play.

This golf course was about a 30 minute highway trip for me but we booked on GolfNow for really cheap prices and I was not dissappointed. A very challenging course that attacks you with length, narrowness, trees, bunkers, water and pace-y greens. A place I could see myself going to a few times per year.

This is a very well maintained golf course with plush fairways and large greens. Our group did lose a number of balls here as there is a lot of unplayable area if you have a misdirected ball. The back nine is much tougher then the front nine and our scores reflected that.
The cart trail needs work as there are many areas that are in disrepair.

The course is a solid 4. The greens ran true and have a lot of slope on some holes. Good par 3's. The cart paths are terrible and the fact the bathrooms at the clubhouse are literally port a pottys ( the fancy kind) that was kind of gross. Bottom line is the golf and it was very good.

Sawmill Creek is an excellent golf tract that once could be compared to the finest resorts in the country. Previous ownership neglected it in a number of ways that did not effect the beautiful design or the course itself. With new ownership, I believe that Cedar Fair has begun to restore and will continue to enhance this great course. Fast greens, well placed bunkers, and yardage lengths make this a golf course you want to play.

Course pretty good despite cart path only due to heavy rain last couple of days. Needs a little work. Hopefully Cedar Point will invest some money and bring this course back to where it belongs! Biggest concern is no raised yardage markers in the fairways. This is a "CARDINAL SIN" for ANY golf course! It is at best a menial expense that makes a HUGE difference for the customer base!
That being said - I did have 2 groups let me play through as I was by myself and play very quickly. That would seem to reveal that pace of play is a priority there - as it should be! A refreshing change from some of the other courses I play! Will definitely come back! ๐

I don't get out as much as I used to after becoming a father, but I always try to golf here a few times a year. The course is well maintained, it's challenging and it's right on the lake. I've handled business on the course as well as a relaxing day with friends. They manage the tee times well so it is unlikely to get bunched up and have to wait very often. I'll continue to play despite it being 30+ minutes from my house. It's well worth the drive

The grass cutters/sprayers are very rude. They dont care if youre golfing a hole, they will drive across the fairways without waiting.
