The Spot Athletics is not your normal Dublin Ohio gym. It's a private fitness center specializing in personal training.
Whether it's losing weight and toning up, strength training or speed training for athletes, our knowledgeable coaches will help you get to whatever goals you have.
We have many levels of training available. From 1-on-1 training to small or large group training to training entire teams, we have an option that will fit your needs.
Founded by world champion powerlifter and former University of Kentucky strength coach, JL Holdsworth, The Spot Athletics is recognized worldwide as a leader in personal training.

We’ve had a great experience here. Staff is highly trained and attentive to individual strength and conditioning needs that go beyond just weight training. Our daughter started going last year and was having knee pain that was limiting her mobility. Within her first session Maeve identified the problem and created a plan that eliminated her pain while improving strength, flexibility and confidence. She continues to learn something new each session - highly recommend.

I signed up for personal training at this gym about a year ago after reading through their website and getting a sense of their outlook to training. Right from the first phone call, the coaches understood what I was looking for. I’ve had the opportunity to work with coaches Markus and Maeve over the past year. They designed a program around my specific goals and they have been super great to work with!
Coach Maeve has a holistic problem-solving approach to training. It’s not just sets and reps. Her approach involves understanding movement patterns and limitations and then pushing the envelope day by day to get you closer to your goals. Her background in Neuroscience and Power lifting are evident in her evaluation and training methods, and in the discussions I’ve had with her during my sessions. But above everything else, she comes into every session looking to give her best. It’s motivating and encourages me to give my best too.
Training at Spot Athletics has been fulfilling so far and I look forward to many more years of training with them!

I was looking for speed and agility classes for my son and we are glad that we found The Spot Athletics. The coaches are always well prepared with an ever changing workout plan. I have noticed an increase in my sons athleticism, strength, work ethic, and confidence thanks for The Spot Athletics. In addition to the great programs they were also very nice and accommodating when asked to change classes. The Spot has something for everyone, at any age. I came to The Spot for return-to-sport coaching while rehabbing from ACL reconstruction, and I couldn’t be happier with the experience. Coach Stephanie is phenomenal—her knowledge of biomechanics and injury recovery has helped me rebuild both strength and confidence in my knee. She also designs programming that addresses old injuries and lingering weak spots, which has made a real difference in how I move and feel overall.
As a mom of two young kids who works full time, fitting training into my life isn’t always easy, but The Spot offers flexible options that make it possible. I meet with Stephanie once a month, and she writes easy-to-follow, effective programming for me to do on my own throughout the month. Investing in myself and my long-term fitness here has been more than worth it.

Absolutely love this place! It’s hands down the best gym I’ve ever been to. I’m truly sad to be leaving, as I’m moving farther away. I’ve been a regular here for nearly six years and have thoroughly enjoyed my time training.
I spent four years in their year-round semi-private sessions and the last two years with one-on-one personal coaching. I really appreciate their programming style and the amazing coaches. I’ve had the privilege of working with some of the best—special shoutout to Coach Ben and Coach Luke. They’ve been incredible at understanding my individual training needs and designing personalized programs.

My daughter and her friends have been training with Maeve once a week for several months. If you asked them to simply go work out and do strength training on their own, I’m sure they would complain and/or get very little accomplished. They have fun every time they go to Spot and come out sweaty and tired. I love that they also work on running form as well as strength, and I feel the workouts are appropriate for preteen girls.

My son has been doing personal training with Maeve for about 5 months. He has been working with her twice a week with a focus on his specific sport. I’ve been training with coach Maeve ever since Maggie moved, and it has been a great experience! Maeve and I do a lot of work together with strength training and I have improved a lot and gotten to try a lot of new things. I used to be someone who never really felt one way or the other about specific exercises, but Maeve has shown me a lot of variety to the point where I have things I look forward to every session. She’s also flexible in that she cares a lot about your mental state, and is willing to and very capable of meeting you where you’re at on any given day while still presenting a challenge and never feeling like you’re on easy mode. We've been taking our daughter to see Coach Maeve for a few weeks now (twice a week), and it's been great! Our daughter runs track for the sprint events, and in a short time she has looked stronger and has developed better technique with how she starts and progresses into her run. She has definitely gotten more out of this short time with Maeve than she has from the track coaches at her school.

After many years going up and down in weight, while following a regime of dieting and cardio, I knew I had to change my habits. I came across The Spot via online searches and I set up a call with JL. There we discussed that the best thing to do was to try and change my body, as opposed to going through these vicious cycles of cardio and dieting. This led to the introduction of weights in my workouts for the first at the age of 42. My biggest concerns were getting injured, which would mean that I would have to stop working out to recover. However, my concerns were unnecessary. I started working with Maeve and under her guidance I became familiar with a wide range of exercises I had never done before and I also got to better understand how my body functions, its strengths, weaknesses and imbalances. Everyone at The Spot is extremely welcoming and professional, the facilities are top-notch, and the folks who are there to work on themselves bring their 100% which is inspiring and a rather good sign of the mentality at The Spot. I fully recommend The Spot, as a place to improve one’s self through hard work, and in particular I applaud Maeve’s guidance. She is very knowledgeable on different exercise techniques, explains in simple and understandable terms the relationship between a given exercise and the body, and most importantly, at least for me, she listens to my feedback in terms of how my body feels when we are performing different exercises. This has allowed me to build my confidence in dealing with weights and to steadily improve myself. Two thumbs up and many thanks to all the folks at The Spot!

The Spot has been amazing for our girls. The trainers are educated, high energy and care about the kids. They get to know them and truly want to help them achieve their goals. We participate in the group classes, but that doesn’t mean it isn’t personalized. The instructors check their form to help prevent injury and encourage them to push through the challenging reps. We have taken classes with several of the instructors, and they are all great. A special shout out to Coach Mauve who has been helping them along in their athletic journey. I love The Spot- Dublin. Cannot rave enough about coach Maurice. He is extremely knowledgeable and really great at cues and explanations. I've been lifting consistently for years and yet it's amazing to me how much more I feel after doing the same lifts with his coaching. He really listens to my goals and adjusts accordingly. He picks up on my mood and energy level and either meets me where I'm at, when he can tell that's what I need, or pushes me when I need that. My daughter absolutely loves going to The Spot in Dublin!! The trainers, especially Coach Maeve and Coach Ben, are so positive, energetic and encouraging, and are excellent at getting the most out of their athletes that train there.
You can see the pride they take in working with their athletes as they take the time to get to know each one personally. They want to know what their goals are, and how they want to get there.
During the introduction stage, The Spot ownership team wanted to make sure that my daughter was a good fit for them, as well as making sure they were a good fit for her, before we went to a permanent basis. I have never seen an athletic training facility do that! That’s when I knew they would do a great job with her, and they haven’t let me down!
They were also very responsive to my questions and make it so easy online to set appointments for your training.

Maeve has worked with our young athlete over the last 3 years first in a small group and more recently with his entire hockey team. She continues to challenge him with a variety of agility and strength exercises. Our son has gained a lot of muscle and strength in that time that Maeve has been coaching him which we see in his skating power and endurance. Our son loves the fast paced nature that Maeve coaches them in and is so excited to go to each session. Maeve is truly one of a kind pushing each kid to reach their potential. She creates a strong environment for the athletes to work hard and also celebrates their accomplishments with them. I signed up for the 2 try-out sessions The Spot offers and I really liked how the workouts were set up and the atmosphere of the gym. One session is one-on-one and the other is with a group typically 2-4 other people. Everything from the warm-up to the workout feels professionally put together. In about 20 one-on-one sessions so far with Maeve, I feel like she has taught me more about running and lifting in 4 months than I ever had from previous gyms and coaches. I look forward to my 2 sessions a week because I feel like I am learning a lot while getting faster and stronger. I first came to the spot from a recommendation from a professional athlete saying that the Spot was a place I needed to start going to if I wanted to really improve my game. I came in last December coming off of an injury where I had not lifted in over a month. Starting with the first session each trainer made it a priority to allow me to do each movement with no pain from the injury that I had. For the next month before the season I trained at the spot and was able to gain what I had lost from my injury back and more. Through this time especially Maeve and Ben were a huge help and truly cared about the future of my baseball career. After the season this summer I have been coming to the Spot 4x a week for the last 2 months. In this time both Ben and Maeve have gone above and beyond in order for me to improve. They constantly think of and advise new ways for me to improve and new movements that better suit me. I am beyond thankful for all they have done for me to be able to get better throughout this last year. This has been through training sessions as well as meetings In order to put me in the best position possible. The Spot has allowed me to love training without constant pain from injuries. I joined The Spot 8 months ago and have no regrets. I was looking to get more intentional about my strength training. The Spot has excellent trainers who are very knowledgeable and helpful when I may not understand something right away. Although personal training is available, I prefer the small group setting. I took a Speed and Agility class at the Dublin location to train in the off season for my rugby club and it was fantastic. Our coach was Maeve and she was brilliant. As someone who found it very difficult to get back into the habit of regular exercise after COVID lockdown, I’ve benefited a ton from The Spot! Training a diverse group of adults effectively requires familiarity with each person’s fitness level. In private sessions, the focus is on my personal performance goals. I compete in a non traditional sport. In recent years health and fitness issues have affected my ability to do so. I found The Spot Athletics in Dublin by chance in March of 2019. I am on the older side of their clients but I believe that my age group may benefit at least as much and probably more than any other stage of life. I was a college baseball player so far back that we used wooden bats. I have been physically active my whole life including a stretch of about 15 years where I worked out in a gym lifting weights with buddies and playing basketball. It was only after I had the shoulder on my throwing arm replaced that I started lifting with a purpose of being fit and healthy for the rest of my life. I have learned more about training in the last couple of years than I have in the last 50. I have been working with coach Ben since April of 2021 and it has allowed me to do things I could never have dreamed of doing in my 70's including maintaining a single digit golf handicap. Ben and the staff are awesome and I can not give them a more glowing review. Ben's motto is if it hurts we find a different movement that will accomplish the same result and we do every time. Chelscie is an amazing trainer who really knows her stuff. She could tell when to push me and when I was at my limit. If a particular exercise hurt my knee or wrists, she’d know how to modify/substitute so that I could still complete the movement. She accommodated a difficult work schedule, as well as other scheduling obstacles. I’ve learned a lot training with her, and only regret is that I can’t continue!
The facility is nice too— there’s a lot of space and an abundance of equipment. All of the other trainers are also as knowledgeable and friendly as Chelscie is.

I spent my early mornings this past July some with Tyler, who was great, but mostly with Chelscie, and she was the best! She helped me get ready for college soccer transitioning from junior college to division 1 and coming back from ankle surgery. If you have or had an injury they make sure they know all they need to ensure that you do not further injure or re-injure and get the most out of your workout. My daughter has been training at the Spot for almost 6 months now. She entered as a young lady with little confidence in herself and her abilities. 6 months later after some very hard work both physically and mentally, she is a different girl!
What I appreciate most is how engaged the trainers are. Coach Maeve has attended games, texted to check in with her, been open to my concerns and areas of focus. Coach Rory boosts her confidence by letting her lead countdowns. Coach J started her off by improving her strength and helping her feel comfortable.
I cannot say enough about the Spot and how it has impacted my daughter. Not only has her ability as a soccer player dramatically improved, but her strength as a person has become incredible to watch. Coach Maeve is the best for my son, husband and me! So, 6 months ago, we signed our 12 yr old son up for her kid classes because he needed to add a pop of speed to his baseball playing. The small group classes have helped him achieve his initial goals and set new ones. She is patient, yet peppy with the kids which motivates them to succeed.
My son knew that I've always been insecure about my physical abilities. After he had been with Maeve for a month or so, he goaded me into personal training with her. My husband thought it was a great idea, so now training with her is a family affair. She has been tremendously kind in helping me gain strength that I never knew I had.

We were Introduced to Coach Ben H when he came to watch my daughter’s teammate who trained with him play. Seeing a trainer come to a high school game to support his teenage client was awesome and told us there was something special about The Spot. After enduring a season with some injuries, we decided our daughter needed to spend time in the off season working on building strength and perfecting techniques to avoid injuries. Never having trained at a gym, she was nervous but the coaches quickly put her at ease. The semi private sessions are amazing- she gets personal attention and goals and is learning to focus on moving the right way at the right pace and improving speed skill and strength. Coach Maeve is an incredible role model. She takes the time to check in with everyone, asking how they’re feeling, giving feedback, and challenging them to keep working and figuring things out. Our daughter comes out of every session smiling (and sweating). We love seeing her improvement so far and can’t wait to see the results on the turf.
