The pro shop is always willing to help your visit. What has impressed me is the fact that the Fairways and greens are just as green in the spring/summer as well as the fall...this is not the same on most courses! I don't know if it is feasible to offer a membership, but I will say that y'all have the best military/veteren discount around.

Course is challenging, but in great shape. The only issue is the grumpy old guy inside. Not sure if he is the owner or not. Brought 21 guys there and was treated like we were a bother. Retire if you don't enjoy yourself.

I’ve played this course 3 times over the course of 3 years and each time I play here I get rushed. The first time we got rushed on hole 5, second time on hole 7 today was at the turn. We finished the front 9 in 1hr 55 minutes and got rushed.
Myself along with 10 others will never golf here again.

Played 6/24/25 - 3rd time here, definitely in season now. Ya it was 99 degrees, and insane amount of bugs. But listen, if you haven’t played here, the time is now. This course is in incredible condition, I hope the owners pass this on to the grounds crew, great work….wow. The greens are just about as perfect as you can get. I work at Avalon Lakes, and this public course is a 9.9/10. I absolutely love this layout. It’s challenging, but also a lot of birdie opportunities as well. I clocked out of work at 130, and drove 50 min to play here today in the sweltering heat, and the bugs attacked us and the 2 work guys I played with couldn’t hack it and left after 9, and I played the rest solo, and I didn’t see anyone else playing. GO PLAY HERE! Great work to the team here and congratulations on this place just in amazing shape. 👏 👏

The course is a tale of 2 nines.

The front nine is much more open, and you would have to really try hard to lose a golf ball.

The back 9 is more varied in its hole layouts. There are several blind 2nd shots which you really need to check your yardages on. If you go long you are in trouble.

The greens have a good bit of undulation to them so it makes putting the biggest challenge to the course as a whole.

A complaint I would have is that holes 15-17 were a bit “buggy” around the greens as there are a few ponds around these holes. Other than this I enjoyed the round.

Good Lord...the greens on this course are incredibly beautiful - in fact, they just may be the very best of the 323 golf courses I've played (many of them higher-end) from all over the Pacific Northwest across the country to Ohio! Owner Doug and his greens cutter Ed Cranston are to be commended - especially given the Ohio climate.
Such a playable yet challenging beautifully scenic course - my favorite must-play when I'm back in the hometown every year. Love the rolling landscape and elevation changes. And the price may also be the best value I've received!

Great course! It’s my favorite course to golf at in the area, for sure. It’s challenging but forgiving enough to have a good round. Similar to anywhere you golf, good pace of play and course etiquette are expected. Greens, fairways, and tee boxes are in very good shape. The workers inside as well as the owner are great people. The prices are also very fair. Definitely recommend.

me and my 3 buddy’s came to have a good afternoon and were met with utter disrespect. the receptionist was confusing and got upset and disrespectful when we didn’t understand what he meant. we didn’t do anything wrong and ended up getting kicked out for absolutely nothing. do not come here if you’re looking for a good time with your buddy’s!!!

The guy that helped us in the red was very rude and did not make instructions clear about what we needed for golfing, I have never been golfing and figured that he would help us and make it clear but me and my three friends were kicked out because we had two bags and apparently you can’t share bags which was not made clear. Do not golf here if you looking for a fun time with your friends…

Played here with a mid-size group for an outing and these greens were in great shape, and all the employees were very helpful. I have to laugh at some of these reviews: Ride along without playing? This is non-sense. Get a set of clubs and play, or stay home. Rude ranger? Pick up your pace of play and nobody will complain. Some new golfers just don't know or understand etiquette. Nice job Turkana!

Golf course was in good condition, not yet drying out. Greens were very receptive to approach shots. Public course so of course there’s a few divots on the green. 4/10 on challenging, felt easy to play. Marshall was very involved and kept the pace of play smooth. Only downside is some bumpy cart paths but that doesn’t interfere with the golf so my review is 5 stars.

Really love the course scenic and beautiful have rode with my husband who golfs many times a few years ago got a tee time and was told no issues and we drive almost 2 hours to play here and all the sudden I am unable to ride that's not right after we were told no issues when the tee time was made very sad won't spend my money here again it's a shame it's a lovely golf course

Course was in decent shape. Very hilly and challenging with the greens rolling okay for Ohio. Reason for the 2 star is the marshal/worker was rude in clubhouse of us asking to hit the range and let 3 old men tee off ahead of me and 1 other guy with later tee times. On which we waited on them for 17 holes till they finally let us pass. He never came out to tell them we were waiting 3 hours for 9 holes. Came and chased us down on the course for telling us its cart path only which was fine but disregard the group in front of us until we said why can they do it and not us? And also cart paths are rougher than the grass so make sure your clubs don't fly out the cart.

The course was nice a little hilly but I enjoyed it. Some holes were difficult to find due to no signs posted, and many different paths. The worst part was the cart marshal was extremely rude. We finished the front 9 and decided to play the back 9. We went to the clubhouse and paid for the back 9 and went to the tee box to start. The rude man came racing over and started yelling at me and my friends telling us we can’t play the back 9. We were confused he told us we had to play the front 9, in return we told him we already had. He continued to argue with us until we told him to ask the ladies in the club house, which he did. Then he continued to follow us through hole 10, 11, and 12. He even stopped and told us we need to pick up the pace, even tho we had to wait for the group in front of us every time we went to the tee box. By no means are my friends and I good golfers but we kept a good pace, and we were respectful to the course, and everyone playing. The gentleman was extremely rude and makes me not want to go back to the course. Hope no one else has to deal with this rude man.

This course needs serious work. The fairways and roughs are littered with weeds and it doesn't seem like they cut their turf nearly frequently enough. The course isn't marked well at all, the golf cart paths are in shambles, and many golf carts still had people's junk in them. The course is extremely hilly and I would not recommend golfing here without another person watching your ball. We lost several balls that were straight into a blind fairway due to the above mentioned factors. There's several courses nearby that would offer a better experience.

Turkana brings to mind a roller coaster. It's very hilly. The first hill is markedly uphill. The second a steep downhill. The course is in good shape and we enjoyed it. When I have walked the course I have enjoyed it less. Watch out for #10, which borders the driving range and has almost a right angle dogleg left up a steep hill. I do enjoy #18, a par 5 bordering a lake.

Very nice, scenic golf course! Unique to the tri-county area with all of the undulations. Greens are very deceptive, and actually have break to them which is also nice. Only down side was the cart path has a great need to be redone, as well as they sprinklers came on and became an issue for a couple holes on the back 9. Other than those two things, loved my time there and will definitely be back.

I want to preface this with that I've been going to Turkana for years, but I was highly disappointed when I went over the past weekend. My friend and I were charged an additional fee for having separate carts. I understand that we are adding additional work for the course by taking separate carts, but I feel that I should not have to pay an additional fee when I am trying to follow CDC guidelines and practice social distancing and ensuring my personal safety. Additionally, there was a large gathering near the clubhouse when we made the turn to the back nine, which was also unsettling.

Additionally, the cart paths were in horrendous shape. I understand these are one of the last things on the list to maintain for courses, but there were several occasions where it was rough riding going up hills where it seemed unsafe.

People try to push you through fast. If you have people learning to play do not go to Turkana. We played 18 holes in 4 hours and 10 minutes but were warned we played to slow. We even let 2 groups play through. Will not return to this coarse. Not family or friendly oriented people.

Love this track! It's unique to say the least.Though not many trees and wide open, as such with a links style course, it's still a challenge because of the elevation changes, greens and not to mention, you will have numerous shots with awkward lies. Not an easy track. Pretty hilly but nice short grass for putts. Not too long makes you plan out tee shots and approach shots. You’ll use a lot of clubs out there. Bring cash as there is no ATM. Tough to chip in for skins when you only have a couple bucks for hot dogs at the turn.

I along with many buddies love this golf course. We drive about an hour to play Turkana. This is not your average boring course. The first time you play it can be a challenge as there are some blind shots etc. Second time you know where to hit it. But the fairways and greens are fantastic. I see someone reviewed that it has small greens?? The are huge!! This is one the the most fun courses you will ever play!! I think some don't like it as it has all kinds of elevation changes and side hill lies it you hit into the wrong spots. 5 stars all the way.

i would describe this course as interesting at best. most shots off the tee are blind so that adds a bit of mystery. the part of the experience i disliked most was the course layout makes it hard to find the next hole. i drove the cart down numerous paths to find i went the wrong way to the next tee. the most difficult part of the course was finding where to go next and the clubhouse does not offer a map of the layout nor is there any signs of where to go. i did bring this up to the person manning the clubhouse so hopefully this changes but i wouldn't recommend this course if you have never played it before until it does.
