Our Warrensville Heights Family YMCA branch features an indoor swimming pool with swim lessons, hot tub and sauna, playground, adaptive programs, group exercise classes, fitness center with cardio and strength training equipment, personal training, VR gaming, childcare services, day camp programs, enrichment programs for all ages, and active older adult programs. The Greater Cleveland YMCA is a non-profit fitness and community center that works to empower people by improving health and bettering communities. Welcoming to people from all walks of life, the Y recreation centers have served the community for nearly 170 years by providing programs and activities that enhance the wellbeing of all.

I’m writing this review because I believe the YMCA has an incredible mission—to build strong communities, empower families, and create a safe and welcoming environment for all. Unfortunately, my repeated experiences at the Warrensville Heights Family YMCA have been the exact opposite of that mission.
From the moment you walk in, the energy does not feel welcoming. The front desk staff is often rude or dismissive, which sets a negative tone before you even start your workout. Several employees also seem to take their roles so seriously that it crosses into being unapproachable, making the space feel tense instead of family-friendly.
As someone who values the YMCA’s vision of being a positive force for youth, adults, and seniors, it’s discouraging to see such a disconnect between the mission statement and the reality of this location. A family-oriented facility should feel like one—uplifting, supportive, and community-driven. Sadly, that has not been my experience here.
Psychology tells us that first impressions create lasting impressions. If the first thing members feel when they walk in is negativity or unfriendliness, it erodes trust and drives people away. A YMCA should be a place where every individual—whether a child, parent, or senior—feels seen, welcomed, and inspired to better themselves.
I’m leaving this review not out of anger, but in the hope that leadership takes it seriously. This YMCA has the potential to be a true pillar in the Warrensville community, but that requires employees who embody kindness, empathy, and respect in their daily interactions. Until that happens, the impact of this facility will continue to fall short of what the YMCA represents.

As a parent and a long-time YMCA member, I am deeply disappointed by the treatment my daughter and I received at the hands of Coach Rouse during recent basketball practice at the [YMCA Warrensville]. I feel compelled to share our experience, as it has left us reconsidering our continued participation in the program and membership.
Firstly, I would like to address Coach Rouse's behavior after the practice session. He displayed an unacceptably rude and belligerent attitude towards multiple children, including yelling at them without any apparent reason. This aggressive behavior was entirely inappropriate and uncalled for, especially when dealing with young and impressionable individuals.
Additionally, Coach Rouse exhibited favoritism by allowing certain kids to use better equipment during open gym, leaving others feeling left out and discouraged. This preferential treatment not only undermines the morale of the team but also contradicts the values of fairness and equality that should be fostered in a community-centered organization like the YMCA.
To make matters worse, Coach Rouse (Maurice) chose to address any issues by yelling at the children, rather than discussing them professionally with the parents. This method was not only uncalled for but also highly inappropriate when handling children who are learning and growing in their athletic journey.
Due to this negative experience, I am strongly considering removing my child from the program and canceling our family membership. I believe that the YMCA should hold its staff to a higher standard of professionalism and respect, especially when interacting with young members.
I genuinely hope that the management will take this feedback seriously and implement measures to ensure that no other family has to endure such a distressing situation in the future.

One thing that stood out in my opinion from the sports summer camp was the constant positive reinforcement to the children from the counselor coaches, whether it was to praise great behavior or redirect behavior. This was the first year for my child and he will return year after year hopefully to the point he wants to become a counselor. Praises to the camp coaches.

Very nice facility. I have not been there long but they seem to have a lot of issues with the pool area and spa. I joined specifically to rehab my body so I am hoping that they resolve issues fully. Other than that, everyone is so nice. I was at Lifetime Fitness for more than 15 years and I was basically invisible there. Not many people spoke outside of the pool area. If it is important to you to feel welcome and actually talk to people and to feel like part of a family, then come here. They seem to put a lot of emphasis on stuff for seniors and kids. The facility seems to be well-kept overall and is clean. Their hot tub, when working, is actually way better than the one at Lifetime Fitness. I am a licensed massage therapist, and those crazy jets will help my joints and muscles a lot once I am done with my water workout. They have a lot of water aerobic/training classes. That seems to be something they excel at. Overall great place. I just need them to make sure the pool and hot tub are working.

I had called to cancel my membership because I tried doing it online, and it wouldn't let me. Robert was very rude over the phone. Told me to come in. So I went in there today and he talked to me like I was completely stupid. He told me I didn't know how to use the app. When I clearly did. He was not helpful and very rude. He was trying to talk me out of canceling my membership because they are nation wide. After dealing with him, I will never return.

Yesterday online say the gym was open came down from lifting weights around 745 am ask for basketball I was told the gym was closed because little kids basketball started at 9 clock and if I went in staff would have dust the gym again which is crazy because it only take 20 minutes to dust the floor plus you can’t swim at until certain time than it close swimming down early might just call see what the program is for that day because it switch from day to day that for sure

Even if you're accessing a free membership, like any ethically equipped and well ran gym, you allow potential members to access all the amenities. So, since I'm only on a guest pass, I can only utilize the weight room, knowingly that I'll want to go into the other parts of the facility (basketball court and pool). Rather than exhibiting quality customer service, you'll rather use baits and sales tactics to get people to sign up for memberships. QUITE PATHETIC, for whoever is running this facility and implementing terrible policies. Furthermore, teach your staff some customer service skills, the lady I was speaking with was highly rude and gruntle.

Warrenville hts YMCA Basketball program is the greatest. All of the coaches are experienced. They're all about building the player up. This includes boys and girls. Everyone is treated equally. But most of all they are teaching the children to respect and love themselves and to
become leaders. When children register for the program, they stay until they age out. This program is definitely a five star program.

I have heard nothing but great things about the programs and environment at this YMCA. My Mom really enjoyed the aqua-size classes there. They have a great basketball program for kids ran by Coach Gray, who has more than 20 years of experience in coaching. The staff is friendly and courteous. An old man was yelling at me for using my phone in the gym area. I was using my phone so I can make sure I don't injure myself using the machine. An employee came and told me to let him use the machine because he's paying a higher subscription than I am. After I get up and wait around 15 minutes, he never touches the machine I was working on!. This is stupid. The ymca only cares about money.

Would probably be good but the basketball courts and the pool are always closed for open/family play time. Also call to check the actual schedule before you go - just because it says open gym, doesn’t mean you can actually use the gym if there’s a camp that day. Very disappointed that this doesn’t really work as a family place for all of us - not just adults - to enjoy. It seems like the only way kids can be involved is by being in summer camp. Will likely cancel my membership. There’s no reason to pay for a family membership when there’s nothing for children to do.

My home YMCA is always clean!!! Went there this morning because I was interested in swimming lessons and other activities. I can in she was on the computer, looked up at me and I asked if they had swimming lessons there. She stated” yes it don start till December 12th. I asked for a schedule on programs, she stated we don’t have any and went back to what she was doing on the computer. So rude. I was interested in joining the Y but she wasn’t interested in me. I left there in an upset mood. I just can’t believe the treatment.

This is the issue now. They close the pool area down on a Saturday for swimming lessons that start at 10am but don't open it up earlier so people who can't make it in due to work can come and enjoy atleast on a Saturday. They close the space down during the week by 7pm and now having swimming lessons for children during the week starting at 5. The life guard foes to lunch 3 pm to 4 which make it impossible for those who work to come in. I pay my money like everyone else to attend the facility. I wouldn't recommend until those incharge can come up with common sense plans for everyone

I absolutely value times offered for summer camp. My son also loves the activities throughout the week and swimming. The staff are ALWAYS pleasant and welcoming! I feel completely comfortable leaving my kid in the care of the Warrensville YMCA. The perfect summer camp I've found thus far. My son has also started the Jr Cavs basketball class and the coach is great! Doesn't just let the kids run around with a ball but actually teaches skills to develop them! I don't know why I've waited so long to join!. The only thing that is a downfall for me is right after we joined the fee jumped up a bit, although I did qualify for a scholarship still gonna be a challenge to keep up my membership. But it's a must because so many things are offered here. Wonderful place for the community!

The facility is nice and clean from what I've seen but the ladies at the front desk are slow. Enrollment takes an hour. I don't understand why. I came in to pay for my fee I was approved for the scholarship. I came in on a Thursday she told me I had to come back next Wednesday because that's was the day the fee is waived but my fee had already been waived so i didn't understand why she couldn't just take my info came back the next week it took them over an hour again to find paper enroll 2 people ahead of me . She had to keep coming back to ask me the same questions it was very frustrating. It seemed like this was their first day doing enrollments.

I signed up for a family membership to this YMCA to get my grandson to join the basketball camp and get the discount . I haven’t heard anything as of yet and it started Jun 6th. I left a voicemail and haven’t gotten a call back. I looked online and it still says I’m on the waiting list. How am I supposed to know if my grandson can start, just keep looking online? I've been a member for YEARS... never had much issues and they have a GOOD basketball youth team that my son plays on. So overall I'm currently happy with the whole YMCA.

The Warrensville Heights YMCA is extremely member-friendly with smiling faces from members and staff alike. My wife and I regularly come to the Y, particularly to participate in the excellent and fun aquatic exercise classes and later to enjoy the whirlpool. It's a great way to both exercise AND socialize. Although we don't usually partake of the adjoining steam room, we always see plenty of happy people doing so quite regularly. This year we look forward to doing more and explore other parts of the Warrensville Heights YMCA and all it has to offer.
