This is the most unorganized cant figure out anything place I have ever seen. Use a different branch of the Y, this place is lost is space. They bill me incorrectly and make it seem like its my problem not theirs. Try to sign up for classes for my kids and no one can get back to me ever. Dont waste your time here, tjis branch and the staff are a joke.

The basketball area is my favorite! The kids seem to have an amazing time and I like that its not too many kids in there at once. The staff is very nice and helpful! They need to wipe the equipment down more often.
Its just not clean enough for me. The kids toys in the day care are dirty, You can see the dirt. We’ve only gone twice and now my Kid has a cold. The women’s showers are not clean! The floor looks dirty I wouldn’t dare take my shoes off in there.

If you expect to have a place to stretch when you work out, do not go to this location. There used to be a corner with a table the personal trainers use, but they moved it and stuck some weight machines there, so if you go any time besides 6am when they open there will be no room for you. The floors and equipment are rarely clean aside from where the members wipe them down after using them. Machines and amenities break and take months to be fixed.

Today, Tyler the personal trainer was incredibly rude and inconsiderate. When I tried to use the studio to stretch he got confrontational because he was "teaching" a class of TWO PEOPLE and insisted he needed the entire 1000+ sq.ft. studio for those TWO PEOPLE. When I brought this to the attention of the front desk I was waved off. The girl checking people in wouldn't even look up from her computer to acknowledge my complaint, so I doubt anyone else will hear it in management.

We are seriously reconsidering our membership based on how this location treats its full-paying members. The only upside to this location is the cardio machines are newer than other nearby Y locations, but for having 6 TV's on the walls only 2 of them are ever on.

They get 1 star because 0 isn’t an option. My kids did the sports camp, where they were supposed to have a different sport each week. Never happened. Counselors kept leaving, they were stuck in a hot tiny room downstairs watching tv often. Kids complained daily about the counselors and one counselor even called me a name because I called the cops when the kids reported a grown man taking photos of them through the fence. It was a horrible experience and they never attempted to fix it once during the whole summer. I was told they would issue a full refund for the final week, which I have in writing and then they refused to issue the full refund they promised to give. Do NOT send your kid here for camp, you will be super disappointed. The director does not respond to emails either.

When I retired from public school teaching, I came back to the West Shore YMCA to find my next chapter. What a blessing it was: wonderful people, good exercise plus allowing me to continue teaching young people water skills and helping adults feel safe in water. I continue to swim and exercise as often as possible in this next chapter of my life. As a newer resident of Brookdale Westlake Village, I often meet someone who recognizes me or my voice and says, β€œare you from the West Shore Y? What joy this is; I believe in this β€œhome branch”!

Nice place, nice gym, nice sauna, nice pool , but the staff really need to learn respect!! Me and my siblings went to the ymca. I went to swim with one of my siblings. We were done, dried off, and went to go shower. My sister finished showering first and then it was my turn. I was in the shower when i hear my sister talking to these two ladies (not sure if they were staff). The ladies were very disrespectful and nosy about why we were if the facility. I was baffled to hear that she wanted wanted us to leave. We waited outside to get picked up, the lady waited and waited and waited to have our parents pick us up. Im honestly disgusting. But there are nice staff there too! The women at the front desk. She stays till four i think. And a swim instructor i forgot his name. We pay 400 dollars for a 2 month membership. Have some decency.

I called on Saturday and inquired about community service opportunities for kids. I was told by a Team Member that they did have some opportunities and that he wanted me to call back Monday to talk to Katie (I believe that’s her name- community outreach). So I just called, and whoever answered the phone was very rude. I couldn’t catch her name because it was very muffled. I inquired with her about it and she said no they didn’t. I explained that I just spoke with someone Saturday and in the MIDDLE of me speaking she started taking over me saying loudly β€œCan you hold on, Can you hold on.” I said sure. She put me on hold for approximately 5 seconds and then came back and said loudly NO NOT AT THIS TIME WE DON’T. I just said fine and hung up. Why would someone (who was super nice by the way) tell me there are some opportunities if there were none? Even if there weren’t any opportunities she didn’t have to be so rude about the whole thing. Bad customer service skills all around.

The shower rooms have mold in them. There is a fan in the woman’s locker room with dust. Smells of urine. Katie Prescott, Director of Member Impact doesn’t return calls. She sends Brian in while in the middle of a class to ask us if we wanted to move our class. Seriously? How can you do a survey while in the water? Katie the correct way to do a survey is to call everyone who attends the Monday class and verbally talk with each of them to get there input. That’s Respect for paying members. If you would have taken the time yourself to speak with us you would have known many of us have been paying members who have been coming to water classes for over 10yrs.

The West Shore YMCA provides a safe and positive environment for healthy development for members of the community. They are recently under new management, and the staff are friendly, attentive, and pushing the branch in a very positive direction. In the past several months I've seen multiple positive changes in both the physical and cultural atmosphere. I can't wait to see how much they will continue to improve over the next several years.

Love this facility. It’s a bit on the older side, but the staff will be the first to admit that and they combat that with a friendly and knowledgeable staff that often goes above what is expected of them.
They’ve been making small changes over the last year. And if anyone has ever worked in the nonprofit world they know that big changes don’t happen over night. The Westshore location is making steps in the right direction.

Newly hired Westshore YMCA director Heidi Goblirsch has recently taken actions resulting in Liquid Lifestyles being banned from conducting swim lessons at westside YMCA locations. Liquid Lifestyles is a top-notch swimming instruction company with awesome coaches which has been providing swim lessons at westside YMCAs for many years. This was a horrible decision for so many reasons and was handled terribly. The members and local community now have fewer and less appealing options for swim lessons and many kids (and parents) in the area are offended by this decision and the manner in which it was handled. This decision will, as I understand it, result in less revenue for the YMCAs in the area resulting in less improvements for YMCA members. Thanks Heidi for ruining a good thing for everyone! I would consider not supporting Heidi or the Westshore YMCA (or the greater Cleveland YMCA swimming programs) unless and until this ridiculous decision is reversed.

Not a bad place if you just want someone to babysit your child for the day but don't bother with their programs if you want your child to gain anything from it. Signed my son up for a 3 day baseball camp and they only touched a wiffle ball for a little bit and only on the first day. There was no skills training, no practice time, and not even any scrimmage besides the first day. After 4-5 calls and phone messages over a period of 3-4 months, still no one called me back so I finally went into the office. When I asked for my money back they acted as if I were ridiculous for expecting them to do anything resembling what was advertised for the baseball camp. YMCA does not understand nor respect simple rules of business such as, "if you promise a service for payment, you actually have to perform that service. YMCA's service was the equivalent to taking your car to a car wash only to have them spit on it and send you away. After this disgraceful service I will never associate with this distrustful organization again.
