I’ve began the new student two week special & have attended 5ish? Classes so far. I’ve really enjoyed the variety, inclusive space, and inclusive class options regarding classroom temperature, space, and late policy.

Reached out to Cara to try to set up an appointment through email and text. I was told I needed to call so she could determine if I was a right fit for her to massage me. Then my calls and texts were ignored.

My go-to strategy for writing Google reviews is to get under the influence of something or other and write some hilarious, punchy off-the-wall review. I've been meditating on what my Wild Root review should be (no pun intended) and I think trying to justify a zippy review for something so personal and important to me would be quite a stretch (again, no pun intended). I'll try something different and try to be honest.
My yoga/philosophical/moral/pseudo-spiritual journies in life have been very rich at times and quite tumultuous at others. Lately in the midst of so many anxiety triggers and long overdue reflections I have been forced to think on what is important to me. Having a sense of community, dedicating time to myself and others and learning to respect myself and accept areas where I want to continue to develop have become a priority. Guess where all that culminates in? Yoga, bish.
I'll save my Ted Talk on my personal journey for another day; however, three paragraphs in I kind of buried the lede. Wild Root stands out in not only reaffirming how transformative and powerful yoga has been in my life but also fostering itself as a studio that stands out and strongly is in line with my values and my sense of community. Practices as encompassing as yoga usually give some kind of visceral, gut reaction in people to have big opinions on what you should do, should believe, how you should attend, etc. In a lot of my previous experiences the rigidity of studios can be more restrictive than liberating to my practice and journey. Here it feels so much different. There is a sense of welcome and a freedom of expression. I don't have to micromanage my thoughts and justify my actions. I don't have to think at all... i can just breath and flow. I can feel comfortable failing and happy succeeding in my goals and feel good to practice here. In fact, it isn't even about the goals; rather it just is about being present. The staff is wonderful and welcoming. They provide a very keen sense of personability that makes me feel welcomed and not a nuisance. I always feel encouraged and excited to try classes. And the teachers all exhibit a wide range of styles and communications that are all different yet equally fantastic. The prices are very agreeable and the other practitioners are all so cool. It really has helped me to work on making myself better and being more encouraged to reach out and participate in communities. To reiterate, I cannot express enough how much I appreciate and value the staff. They have such a wonderful presence and trove of experience. I've gone so far as wanted to perform better in classes because of them and I deadass hate being told what to do or listen to authority figures.
Things suck sometimes and there is a lot to concern about. It is very comforting to have one less thing to worry about or take some time to stop worrying and overthinking and just spend time in a great place with amazing people doing something I actually give a damn about.

I left a 2 star review on ClassPass after my first class and I was going to leave it at that, however after how the owner responded to my review I feel obligated to leave one on google where it can reach a broader audience.
As far as the studio space goes, it’s fine. The instructor was nice, and the woman who greeted us was friendly. Other than those positives, you can find a better studio. The class was extremely crowded, smelly, and might be too fast paced for a beginner, but overall I enjoyed the movements and routine.
The big issue is how my friend and I were treated by one of the members of the studio, and the lack of concern for it demonstrated by the staff and owner.
Toward the end of the class, my friend turned to me and told me that she felt like she injured herself. I asked her if she was okay, and the woman next to me very rudely shushed me.
Once the class was over, the rude woman next to me, let’s call her “Karen”, leaned over me looming (we were sitting, she was standing) and in a nasty tone asked me “did you have something to say”?
Now, I don’t know if you know how bullies work, but what they’re looking for generally is someone to intimidate with the expectation that no one will stand up to them. Unfortunately for Karen, that is not me, or my friend. At this point, I even tried to give her an out — and told her that I wasn’t speaking to her, and I did not want to speak to her. She wanted to keep it going. She then proceeded to press my friend and I once again trying to be intimidating and saying something to us about talking during the class. When I was trying to explain that my friend was trying to tell me that she was hurt, which by the way, this woman is not owed an explanation for anything, she decided to talk louder and more aggressively. Realizing that this woman was not open to talking it out and she was only interested in bullying, this is where my friend and I lost patience and told her to walk away for everybody’s sake. After that Karen left the room, thankfully.
It’s important to mention that my friend is a woman of color. It’s a tale as old as time, old white woman accosts a black person, then runs crying to play the victim when someone stands up to her. At this time my friend and I are cleaning our mats, gathering our things and at no point did any staff member ask my friend if she was okay, if we enjoyed the class, if we were interested in learning about their memberships, not a word to us.
So I left the review on ClassPass saying that it wasn’t a great experience due to the crowdedness, a bad interaction with a member, and staff not interacting with us after the class. The owner responded to it and stated that my friend and I “caused hurt “. Placing full blame on us without ever even ATTEMPING to hear what actually happened. They believe the old white woman who went crying after starting an unnecessary confrontation. Now obviously the studio can’t control the behavior of one of their members but they can control how they respond to it. Ultimately, I would pass on this place if you want a peaceful experience. Would not recommend to people of color for obvious reasons.

I love this studio and everyone who’s apart of it. I have been to a few classes now taught by Claire Roboski and I must say her flows have been everything that I needed. I’d recommend checking her class or any other classes here. If you are looking for yoga flows that feel natural and taught by some of the BEST human in the C-Bus area then look no further! 💖

I feel grateful to have met Steph Jo, and Cara during my Thai yoga massage training. Steph Jo instantly won me over with their infectious positive energy and playful humor, perfectly balanced by Cara's warm, yet professional demeanor. Together, they create a unique and uplifting atmosphere in their yoga studio, where hard work and fun seamlessly blend. Their genuine passion for teaching yoga, training new instructors, and performing Thai yoga massage shines through in everything they do. The studio's warm and welcoming environment is a testament to their dedication to their students' growth and well-being.

I’m fairly new in my practice and Wild Root Yoga was one of first studios I tried and will ALWAYS come back to. The overall warmth & peace this place brings is something so rare & so special. Each instructor has their own individual flare but the same message of taking what you need, leave what you don’t, & encourages that every practice is unique to everyone’s own body. I can’t say enough great things about this place. No matter where you are in your journey each class always demonstrates multiple levels of shapes & positions you can take so it fits for YOU. Love, love, love this place & highly recommend you give it a try!

Wild Root Yoga is such a lovely studio. I am impressed by the instructors and owners' openness, kindness, and creativity in providing alternatives for me when it comes to inversion-related poses. Their willingness to support the diverse health and well-being needs of the clients/students is remarkable. I also appreciate their advocacy for the clients/students to do what is best for their bodies. I am grateful to know that I have a space that supports me just as I am.

I never expected yoga really to be something i'd like. I'm more of an extreme upbeat intense class kind of a person but classic hot is perfect to me. I've never went in and left thinking it was a waste of time or I didn't reach my full potential after a class with Cara. I feel level headed and grateful for the movement my body is able to do. If i could start everyday with that class I would. I also never felt embarrassed for being new and was always given alternatives without having to ask or feeling singled out. Highly recommend to anyone, especially people just dipping their toes into yoga!

Finding a place to settle into your practice and feeling welcomed is such an important part of yoga. I’ve been to several classes at Wild Root. Each teacher and experience has made me feel welcome. The space is designed with the attendee in mind. It’s very cozy in and out of the studio. I’ve recommended Wild Root classes to several friends and even managed to bring my boyfriend along for his first yoga class ever! (He loved it too!) while I practice primarily at home, when the mood strikes to join a group Wild Root is the place I look to first!

Took my first class at Wild Root this past Sunday with Mack. It was so restorative and so much fun! They did a beautiful job both giving instruction and space for modifications; encouraging us to only move into things that felt good, safe, and interesting to us. The soundtrack was amazing and obviously very intentionally curated to the flow. Felt uplifted to be a part of this community and would recommend this studio (and classes with Mack!) to anyone looking to have an inclusive, safe, supportive, and playful practice.

It’s true I might be a little biased but that’s because I’ve known both Steph and Cara for well over a decade. But a reason we stayed connected was because of the magic of yoga. Now, when I heard they were opening a studio I SQUEALED with excitement. These two are the embodiment of a safe place. So, for them to make a brick and mortar is truly a gift to the community. You will felt seen, heard, and supported. There is no doubt in my mind that you will find what you’re looking for within these walls. They are built with honesty, compassion, and a whole lot of love. I highly encourage you to take not just one class but many. Engulf yourself with their magic and you won’t regret it 😌

I have been attending classes at Wild Root Yoga for the past month and it has been such a pleasant experience. As a newbie in hot yoga, I take Kristen O'Neill's amazing BUTI class. Kristen brings amazing energy to the class and she makes sure to challenge you. I feel amazing after each BUTI Wednesday class. The studio has a shower if you need to go elsewhere directly after class. Hailey is amazing, she makes me feel welcome. I definitely recommend!
