This place is a joke they discriminate and judge and are rude as hell. I went with family to use the warm water pool it was my first time being back in yrs and I brought family as guests it was the worst experience the lady from the front desk was nasty and rude to my family and then kept harassing us while we were swimming very rude bad experience and I haven't been back since and as a bigger girl this made me feel absolutely horrible like here I am trying to start a journey and get active to lose weight and gotta worry about the one thing I was afraid of which is why I didn't join a gym before now

Xenia YMCA, this is supposed to be for the community, but it has some of the nastiest employees. I was paying for a service I wasn't using so I decided to downgrade my service. Went to the Fairborn YMCA, received a totally professional response but they couldn't help me. Go to the Xenia YMCA and received huffing and puffing, and the dropping of the hand on the desk. Made me feel like I didn't something wrong.

Kinda lame
Answer to business response: "You're absolutely right — the Xenia YMCA is legendary. Anyone can offer a gym, but it takes real vision to lock rooms shut during peak hours while the main court is under repair. Truly a masterclass in customer care.”

Everything within the gym is perfect but my only annoyance is the doors (Past 9pm) you cannot open the doors to get out and must wait to be let out which is honestly creepy! I love this location because of convenience but can’t this be fixed? Like what if someone is working out and a personal emergency comes up and can’t get out fast enough??

I loved the pool it's just the workers the front desk is so mean and so strict and they made my child put on his shirt so he can take it off a minute later to go into the pool and when i said have a nice day and they give me a rude look recommend Huber and fairborn for nicer workers

Its a great facility when you can actually use it. Would be nice if it was a true 24-hour facility like its advertised as. One of the only times for me to work out is Sunday evenings, and I can't do that because of their hours on Sunday. Even though there are still people working and having leagues going on, why are people not able to utilize the facility if you still have people working? Makes no sense to me.

This review is specifically for the child watch today (1/3/2024 @1pm) I didn’t get the girls names that were working. But they were phenomenal. I brought in my 3 month old son, screaming, I couldn’t calm him and I was having a horrible morning as a new mom, ready to cry. And they still took him and allowed me to workout just long enough to clear my head and restart my mood. He was still crying when I picked him up but those girls helped me so so much. They were great!!

Don NOT sign kids up for lesson especially swimming lessons, they will NOT communicate to you about your child.
They treated me with much disrespect and was unfriendly to my son who has ADHD.
The showers where always nasty, there was bushy hair in one shower and soap scum all over another. Never going here again!

The facility itself is very nice. I had a problem with the child watch experience my first time and don’t think I will try again. There were 2 staff and only one other kid, so I didn’t think it was a big deal to write my phone number on a sticky note and get my account updated with both parent’s phone number (this is how you are contacted in case of emergency, illness, crying, etc.). They told me other times of the day there can be over 30 kids and I wouldn’t have relied on a sticky note substitution if that had been the case due to shift changes, breaks, or more staff present who may not be able to coordinate easily during a busy time.
The person at the front desk first wanted to remedy the situation by changing the phone number on the account to mine, but I insisted each parent needs to be able to be contacted easily depending on which parent drops off the kids. She said “the system” wouldn’t allow that and that they would have to put a note in on the iPad in the child watch area. I told her they had sent me to the front desk, and the back and forth continued until she finally said, “You know what? I’ll take care of it,” took my phone number and said it had been taken care of.
I asked the child watch staff to send a test message upon picking up the kids to make sure everything was working now. Neither parent received the 2 test messages they sent, and they don’t input a phone number, “the system” automatically sends it to the phone number on file.
I returned to the front desk to let the person know that our issue had not been resolved and I had spent time in the facility under the impression I could be contacted, when that was not the case. The front desk person was clearly perturbed that this was an issue for me, and said they’d not been able to go into the child watch to make the correction because they were the only person on duty at the front desk.
Being unreachable and the amount of hassle and resistance involved in becoming reachable should my kid need me is a safety concern and not acceptable to me. Apparently all the Greater Dayton YMCAs use the same system that either doesn’t have basic capabilities, or on which the staff are insufficiently trained. Either way I’m not comfortable with it and don’t think I should be made to feel like the “difficult” patron for politely but persistently insisting this is not negotiable.

My son and I have been a member of the Y for about 10 years now. My son has grown up with the Y. He's played a lot of their sports. Mainly basketball. We've never had any serious issues with the childcare, gym or pool areas. I think people complain way too much about the stupidest stuff. It's very relaxed and I, as a woman, feel comfortable working out. I have never witnessed men being loud or kids running around etc. I think the child care hours actually need to be extended. They're not open on Fridays which is bizarre. The showers and locker rooms could use continuous cleaning/scrubbing for sure. I wish the bathrooms/toilets had those paper toilet seat covers as well. Not sure why cleanliness isn't a priority to other members. I like how there's spray bottles to clean the equipment. Overall, I don't have much to complain about and have always been satisfied with the Xenia Y.

It is very disheartening when you call about leaving an item at the Y and they tell you they have it and have your name on it, and when you go to get it, they cannot find it, and are quite rude about it and then you call back the next day to ask for help finding it, and are told even though it had my name on it, they may have put it out on a table for lost and found and anyone could have taken it, and will not view cameras. Very sad about this amd the poor service given by their employees.
Thank you for you invalid reply. It was not over a week. It was late last week and I called to make sure. I went in last night on Tuesday and it was not able to he located. It was just over the weekend and if someone calls and claims their item, it should never have been put out for all members to be able to grab. That was irresponsible of your team. Please do not misinform the timeline. Not over a week. It was 6 days and I would have come sooner had I known your team was going to do that, but I was sick and didn't want to expose others. 😔 very disappointed in your reply as well.

My experience with this gym facility was excellent! I went to this place alone last week for the first time after my parents made my membership available! The front desk staff were kind and helpful, making things fast and easy. Answer questions. I don’t know yet about how the trainer thing works, but there are a lot of them in uniform walking around as you’re working out. Will keep in coming!

We really wanted this to work for our family but we only did a month and cancelled. Our daughter got hurt the third time we brought her to the child watch. She has been in other childcare settings and we have never had this happen before.
The child watch employees informed me when I came to pick her up an hour aftet it happened. No one called me. Apparently they gave her a phone to watch Cocomelon to calm her down? I do not understand the judgment call please alert parents right away if something happens.
It was very chaotic in the child watch that day at least 30-40 young children in the small child watch area. I took my daughter to get an x ray at urgent care and she is OK thankfully. Using the child watch is not worth the risk.
We cannot leave our daughter in a place where she is not safe and joined the YMCA to have a gym with childcare.
We hope you can improve the quality and safety of your programs.

New facility is very nice but unfortunately feels like a massive daycare at certain hours. Left my old gym for the close convenient location. Staff needs to monitor the gym a little better as I see a lot of young children in the free weight area and on cardio equipment. We we're told no one younger than 15 was to be in that area and no one under 18 in the trx room but that doesn't seem to stick. The pool needs adult lap swim like the old center had as it is very hard to find a time to train in the pool with out kids and noodles. The only time I've notice that works well for swimming is either late at night or extremely early. Unless of course you're able to swim mid day. The pool was the main reason I joined this location, the close location was just convenient.
The facility is hands down a 5 star facility but the lack of pool scheduling with two pools and the children running all over the place brings it to a 2 star. So I'll meet in the middlish with a 3..
Unfortunately, due to recent events, we have elected to move our family away from the YMCA.

The main staff is great and facilities are awesome, BUT its the people… People just come here to talk, sit, and be on their phones taking up the time and space in the equipment. And if its not the adults, during busy hours its kids, many under the age of 15 running around out of control. I know its the Y but come on. Unfortunately I can only come during normal hours. You would think that the young employee is there to help with this kinda of stuff but they are usually on their phone. For this I can go to Planet Fitness and save me $25 if Im gonna have to deal with influencers, people in the way, chatters, kids, and time wasters.

My favorite Y. It’s definitely more than a gym, the Xenia Y is a family, between the awesome members and staff, group exercise instructors and lifeguards, there’s always someone to lend a smile and a positive comment. I love the Y. It’s so clean, and everyone is so friendly and so down to earth and REAL. The group fitness classes are the best! I love the 5am crowd, and the 9am crowd! The pools are so clean and roomy, and it’s really nice to have access to some many different kinds of equipment in the functional room.

Really should let people know that you can’t take classes without a membership! I am new to this area and wanted to try a class at the Y. In Ross County, I used to attend classes at the YMCA as a guest and just paid per class. I drove all the way here and was turned down at the door. I was told that I needed to be a guest of a member. I don’t know any members! It is extremely rude and unprofessional to turn away potential customers. I won’t be returning.

Edit: This was fixed and a refund has been issued. Very polite and positive experience.
I canceled my membership 6 months ago, in person, and they have still charged my card all the while. I have called in to talk to someone with no call back each time. The excuse I received was the fact there are at least three other people with the same name, yet they have done nothing to rectify the situation. Very disappointed 😞

Best YMCA in the Dayton area. This is the newest branch. A Dayton YMCA membership gets you access to all area YMCAs, but this one is my preferred location. Can be crowded around 5 pm. Closes early on Sundays. Should have been built 2x the size, I'm often waiting for machines. Haven't used the pool yet because it just seems so small and built for laps and classes, not so much for recreation.

BEWARE! Read the fine print on your membership agreement regarding cancellation. First, you are required to show up in person, then you are required to fill out a multi question form, then they may allow you to cancel and stop incurring fees. My situation did not allow for me to be at the Y location, so after a significant amount of "discussion" I obtained the cancellation form and provided it electronically. I sent my first email requesting cancellation in early June, again mid-July and several more afterwards to finally get the account cancelled on 9/4 (continuing to incur fees during this entire timeframe!). While the facilities are new and outstanding, the policies are antiquated and disingenuous and the customer service is abysmal.

I love the new Y most of the equipment is new and very easy to use and understand. I tend to go at the busiest time of the day, between 5 and 6 and there are still plenty of equipment to use. Also the Wifi is fast so that helps when I am working out and watching Netflix. The pool and locker room facilities are very well maintained and for a gym, it always smells clean! Kind staff, great atmosphere, inexpensive mbrshp!

I love the new Y and everything about it but the employees are so rude!! The front desk lady with gray curly hair is also so rude to me and isn’t helpful. She makes it seem like I’m such a inconvenience. When adding my sisters to my family plan ( they live with me!) she told me she’d only add one that I need proof they actually live with me. I’ve never had to show proof anywhere else and if she wasn’t such a bit** about it I wouldn’t have a issue. We’ve gone their several times and she’s always the rudest to us. If it continues I will just get a gym membership elsewhere. 🤷🏼♀️

I LOVE the Y. My family and I signed up before new one was open and went to Kettering before it opened. The childcare Y at Xenia is understaffed though, I love the girls in there but they are overwhelmed(I would be too, with that volume of kids to adult ratio). When signing up, I was told that this was a trained staff that teaches and encourages a child's development in a family setting.
My 2 year old son not even 2 and half got written up (behavior report)for "disrespect toward staff and not following directions". Comments saying, "Throwing toys across room, refusing to sit in time out, pulling shirt up and not putting it down, smiling/ laughing while not following directions, running". I'm a little confused by my 2 year old disrespecting the staff, can a 2 year disrespect a an adult? As an educator myself, I work on rewarding positive behavior, I agree with not throwing the toy because it could hurt someone. Toy should have been taken away and when he is given another chance and plays with them in a correct manner he should have been told "I like the way you are playing with the toys". The whole running and smiling, he is 2 and probably thought they were playing when they put him in a time out(he has no clue what time out is yet but will now be working with him). The lifting shirt up...he chews on his shirt and fools around with his tummy out for someone to poke it are they thinking he is doing something inappropriate. These are all behaviors of a typical 2 year old. I feel like I need to repeatedly say he is 2 and 2 year olds act like this. I'm now afraid to bring him back to the Xenia Y in fear he will be written up and told not to come back because he does need some work in playing in a group setting.
*I did ask if I could go in and watch him play so if he did throw a toy, I could immediately correct the behavior and they said parents aren't allowed back(I agree with that rule but that is what a 2 year old needs).

Where do I start. Their is one front desk lady who glared at me when I asked for the family restroom key to take my FAMILY in for the swimming pool. Like I committed an atrocity. Then we go into the pool and the "lifeguards" are in there doing sign language to one another while staring at my boyfriend and our children and smirking. So judging much?? This isnt the first time either, the last time my boyfriend and I swam by ourself their was one particular young man staring at us who was there this time aswell, also smirking. Staff is very mediocre for someone who pays 50 dollars a month for a family membership. Needless to say. Very un impressed with staffing. Unless it's the daycare staffing. We love them and the boys do to. So excellent staffing job with the daycare ladies they always make the experience of dropping off our boys pleasant and we feel safe and comfortable doing so.

With great respect it is said that the staff at the Xenia YMCA maintain the facilities and programs in an excellent manner.
With a facility this old it is no small effort that keeps it functioning and clean; both of which succeed very well.
The instructors are class A in knowledge and skill. Along with the number of programs offered and accomplished, the rate of participation supports that skillful planning is meeting the communities needs and interest.
