I’ve never written a negative review before, but I feel I need to after my experience with this gym’s incompetent customer service and illegal contract practices.

Despite multiple calls (eight in total) initially to pause and later to cancel my membership, the gym kept charging me and repeatedly failed to process refunds or pause/cancel as they had promised on the calls. In my last call asking for a refund, they claimed I could not get a refund because of a secondary contract that I never signed and did not know of. Apparently, an employee had signed it on my behalf without telling me about the contract, showing me the contract, or even just verbally reading the terms, which is unlawful.

In short, the staff are unhelpful and unaccountable, and you risk being overcharged due to their errors and unethical practices. I would strongly avoid this gym unless you are willing to accept that likelihood. Additionally, the gym is usually overcrowded and multiple machines are broken at a time, meaning that even during your membership, you will not have consistent access to the equipment.

Nice gym, but trying to cancel your membership is a hassle. Signing up for the 3 month PT sessions is very deceptive. They don’t tell you that after your 3 month initial contract is over, they continue to bill you and refuse to cancel unless you are in person. I work very long hours and can’t make it in person. Finally one of the managers told me to send him an email and he will cancel my PT contract and membership. It took multiple emails and they finally canceled the PT charges. No refund. Now after nearly 2 years I was able to get in and cancel the membership I literally never used. I showed the guy at the counter the original emails, and he quickly canceled the membership. He also offered to email corporate and request a refund for the past year. That was nice of him, and for that I added a star. We will see. I’m not holding my breath though.

Update: Never recorded the refund for the unused time of one year. Expected. Annoyed. Whatever. Won’t go back to this gym again no matter how nice they are inside.

Love this gym! I've been working out here since August. At first it was a little overwhelming because there are so many different types of equipment. But now, I have gotten more familiar with them and I really enjoy the variety. Crunch even has an app that has Workouts that you can use, and explanationson how to use all of the machines. I also work with a personal trainer and I appreciate the help. The staff is always happy to help and answer questions. I highly recommend that if you're considering a gym that you choose Crunch Norman.

First thing as soon as I walk in the door “You have to have a Norman ID because we’re a college town” which it doesn’t say anywhere on the website. I signed up it was supposed to be $10 a month plus 59. Dollars annual fees. I was charged the $59 when I signed up 2 months ago, and then I look at my bank statements and they charged me that again.
Annual, as far as I know, is twelve months, not 2 months. So if you sign up with this outfit, you are warned. I am a handicap man on disability. Now I am behind on my checking account. I called them they was very rude and told me there was nothing they could do.

Even though it's dirt cheap - you get what you pay for...equipment is constantly broken and front desk stated that all they can do it send a note to corporate and then it doesn't get fixed. They don't have enough equipment to handle the crowds when school is in session and the majority of gym members just sit on the very limited equipment scrolling their phones. Gym replied that it's up to the member to have to confront people to move which doesn't really work with a bunch of college kids with attitudes. They have had a leg machine down for 4 weeks now. One of their functional trainers was down all summer and when I spoke to the front desk they said it was corporate's fault - no kind of resolution - other than it had gotten fixed for 2 days and then broke again. They don't have enough equipment when it's functioning. On any day at the gym you can walk through and their are numerous signs all over the equipment that it's broken.

Christina working the desk was absolutely uncalled for! The way both me and my husband were talked to was horrible and very unprofessional. We were approached with immediate yelling without 0 warnings before hand. Even after apologizing that we were unaware of the situation, she STILL continued to yell at us and stated she “didn’t care” of the way she was talking to us!! ABSOLUTELY uncalled for. The rules clearly aren’t posted correctly or clearly, the customer service is terrible from Christina. She stated as an excuse that working at Crunch fitness was her “second job” and that “people walk all over her all the time”. That is NOT an excuse to treat your customers like that !!! I'm extremely disappointed with Crunch Norman. Despite multiple attempts, they refuse to cancel my membership over the phone, which is incredibly inconvenient. To make matters worse, my membership was unfrozen without my consent, and they won't refund a charge I didn't authorize. Now, they're insisting I pay for another month just to cancel. Extremely Difficult cancellation process.
One would think that due to a large amount of college student’s they would make this a little easier. Apparently you have to cancel in person or mail a letter. They WILL NOT take an email cancellation. Update 8/26/25. We are still fighting them to cancel the account. My son has been in and signed to cancel. They refuse to remove our payment on file. Even though they say the account has a zero balance and is paid in full, when they present the cancellation invoice, it shows future installments through the end of the year due. This is a problem! While I was in there there was another person complaining about trying to cancel. Sign up at your own risk! Even if you do manage to cancel, the cancellation fee is the next months payment amount due. Whatever method of payment that you use, it remains in their system forever and they will not remove it no matter what. And where they get you is, they get your name and date of birth And if you don’t pay them when you try to cancel, they will turn you over to collections and try to ruin your credit. Scam!!

I booked a crunch one KickOff with Nick Lowman and it was stellar! He was punctual, honest, and caring. I love the way he facilitated everything succinctly from the beginning to the end. I could tell that he intelligently thinks before he speaks and I appreciated that about him the most, as it helped maximize the hour in the most efficient way possible. It made everything he said easy to follow and understand which made me feel comfortable and relaxed. He took the time to write out a well organized plan for my specific needs to help me achieve my fitness goals. The sauna being broke for weeks was the ultimate reason I ended up leaving this gym. If they had been forthcoming with me about the actual date they planned on having it fixed, rather than promising me every couple days that “it will be fixed by tonight or tomorrow,” I probably would have dealt with it. But instead, I wasted multiple trips driving up there after the “promised” fixed date, only to be disappointed again. Also, when attempting to cancel my membership, I was brushed off and told to come back later because “that would make a lot of work for us right now,” because they were busy. There is also a large homeless population around this gym and there have been times when I arrived that police were dealing with an erratic homeless person and you would have to carefully avoid that situation to even get in the building. I wouldn’t advise coming here alone at night if you’re a female.

I went one time to get the assessment. I signed no contract, got no copy of a contract, only thing I did was sign something to "lock in" my price. During the assessment I realized because of health issues I couldn't do it. Two months later I get a phone call saying I owed $125 for a membership that I never used! I told them to cancel my membership. I received multiple phone calls, emails and texts wanting payment and every time I told them my membership was supposed to be canceled and I wasn't paying for something I never used! Today they took over $150 out of my account, without my permission, and has left me severely overdrawn. Being on disability, I don't get paid till end of next month! I called Crunch in Norman to get a refund, and they said I didn't qualify for a refund! WTH? All I got was a "sorry, but not sorry" attitude. The manager said he'd cancel my membership, but we'll wait and see! Crunch Fitness is a scam! I can't even call corporate headquarters cause all you get is a non-working phone number. There isn't an email either! This whole business is a scam! Since I'm on disability, I won't get paid till end of next month, and now I have no money left till then! Crunch Fitness ought to be ashamed in the way they do business!

I’m very upset by how I was treated when I brought a friend to the Norman location for the first time.
I have the peak results membership which states I can bring a friend to work out with me at ANY Crunch location. Both the staff members working the desk today said I can only do that at my home gym.
I felt very unmotivated, discouraged, and unwelcomed.

I want to like this gym. It has a lot of equipment, a lot of space and it can be a nice place to workout. But the past three weeks (end of April through May2025) the problems are mounting. All of the cable machines have issues - the ones that aren't completely broken stick depending on the exercise and at unexpected times during a rep. The men's locker room is disgusting - no paper towels, garbage piling up at different times of the day, disgusting guys in underwear posing in front of the sink mirror, and too many people on their phones in the locker room. When I leave I feel like I need to disinfect myself with bleach. I think the one or two people that were keeping the place clean and in working order must have left because the gym was not like this when I joined a few months ago. I'd give it 1 star but it wasn't that long ago when this place was actually pretty decent so I know the issues can be addressed. For now I'm going to another gym.

I can honestly say that I will never ever go back to this gym. I had lost my watch and mid March and it pinged in a certain address. and while I had went to the police by the police report, they said it was low priority, which is fine. It was a series 1042 mm rose gold watch and I literally am making payments on it and I’m on disability. I am so angry because they informed me that they were going to be firing this person and working with the police on giving them his information and lo and behold. Nothing has happened. He did not lose his job from what he said I had sent them all the text messages, the pinpointing activity on the phone when all this happened and ya ya and so I am extremely upset and I will be getting hold of corporate because at this point they hire thieves they employ thieves and I just don’t think that that’s acceptable so I basically wasted my time on sending them all the information because why would somebody that works there state that well I’m sorry that my address was involved but I do not have your watch and but I will pay you for helping you get reimbursed because I feel bad and then whenever I told him why I did not go onto their property was about the dogs. He laughed and says ha ha I have four of them. And now he’s threatening me with defamation and he says he’s gonna sue me. Good luck, buddy that’s all. Be cautious when joining this gym if you have any intentions to cancel your membership! I joined Crunch for my time in college, and upon canceling my membership, despite written documentation they had sent me showing my membership was canceled in February, I got charged for April. I had to call 3 different times to finally confirm that my membership was actually canceled. I was told that I could get a refund by two different employees, but after finally getting hold of the manager named “MaryBeth”, she rudely told me that she could not issue refunds. She even admitted that the April charge was a mistake but said I could not get a refund. I asked about a corporate number and was informed that would be no use.
It is disappointing that a manager admitted they made a mistake in charging me but had no sympathy or willingness to resolve the issue. Even if the Crunch policy is no refunds, the principle of being rudely informed this and that I had to call 3 times to get a final answer is the reason for my 1 star review.
So this is a sign to not join Crunch unless you want to be scammed!

Other reviews have mentioned how difficult it is to cancel membership at this gym. Unfortunately, I have had an identical experience. The past few months trying to resolve this have been extremely frustrating, and I am documenting my experience to warn people away from signing up at Crunch Fitness.

I went to Crunch in person to cancel my membership on January 11, 2025, and was told that it would be canceled after thirty days, and that if I had any scheduled charges within that thirty-day window, I'd still be billed. This happened on January 21, 2025, as expected.

However, I have now been charged twice beyond that charge within that thirty-day window, even though I received an e-mail documenting my cancelation. The first time it happened, on February 20, 2025, I called and spoke to Marybeth, the manager, who assured me that my account was showing as canceled in their system and that I had been confused about when my account would stop being billed. I don't believe I was confused, but was assured that was the final time I would be billed, and was willing to accept this if it meant I'd never have to deal with it again. However, I was wrongly billed my monthly fee a second time on March 20, 2025. When I went in person again to the gym today to ask why, I found out that my cancelation had never been processed when I went in the first time. The cancelation document had been created, but my membership was not actually canceled. I spoke to Marybeth in person today and she apologized, assured me that my account is now canceled effective March 25, 2025, and that I will not be billed further. However, based on my previous poor customer service, lack of investigation on part of the staff, and negative interactions trying to get this membership canceled, I cannot trust that this actually true.

I have now paid two months of membership fees beyond when I ought to have. Canceling a gym membership should not be this difficult or this expensive. I adhered to the terms of my contract with Crunch, and I expect them to adhere to theirs. Crunch needs to train their staff better to process cancelations and to actually honor their own terms of service.

As it is today, I highly recommend steering clear.

I was refused access to amenities included in the membership I pay for because apparently the location I went to isn’t my “home gym” even though this location is where I started my membership and use most often. Went through the process of transferring my membership back to this location (when it should’ve been here the whole time as this is where I began my membership) which required me to give them proof of residency to prove this location is closest to my house which shouldn’t matter, just to continue to be denied access to the amenities. Then refused to cancel my membership saying I had to cancel it at my home gym location even though they just made me transfer it. If I could give this gym 0 stars I would. If you try to tan here and you happen to be white and you ask someone who happens to not be white any questions about tanning the first thing they will say is oh well I don't tan I don't need to. If you ask a simple question like how do you use the stand up tanning without getting raccoon eyes from these eye goggles no one has an answer and no one cares because they don't tan because they're not white. They say so. I just have a vitamin D deficiency and I have to get sunshine or tanning and it's been raining and snowing the last week and I didn't even think about race I'm not a racist I could care less I just want to get in and get out and tan

I have been attending this gym for roughly 6 months now, and I enjoy it. I come very early to avoid the rush of people, and shower and go to work and I am here almost everyday as of late.

The last roughly 2 weeks, the men’s bathrooms have gone extremely downhill. I see people come in and “clean” but at most it’s sweeping and calling it a day. The second shower has been clogged for 2 weeks, not allowing water to drain, and every single shower is ICE cold, and filled with pubic hair.

This is very inconvenient to me as someone that goes very early and showers there to start my day. It’s even made me debate on switching gyms, but after seeing the reviews of cancelation policy it makes me worried about how that would go. Cannot go lower than 3 as I haven’t had major issues, but cannot go higher as clogged, cold and dirty showers is unacceptable for how much money this gym makes.

Going to this gym is like having a spa day every time I go. It’s big and spacious, lots of equipment variety, the sauna and hydro massage chairs are a great way to relax after a great work out, the child care is friendly and the facility is always clean! I have been going to Crunch Norman since it opened. I love all the equipment and there are several classes to be pushed. I especially like how I am welcomed when I come in. There are a few people that greet you but my favorite is Mary Beth. She is always sweet or funny. Makes you feel like family when you’re there! Highly recommend Crunch Fitness Norman

I've just recently tried to attempt to rectify an issue with this Gym here in Norman in regards to getting my scan card updated in the system to be used at another local gym and I had spoke with a manager by the name Mary Beth and not only was she very short unaccommodating and Rude she didn't fix my issue and hung up on me midstream in conversation, I do not recommend this gym in any way.
Another thing is the Men's Sauna is ALWAYS Filthy with trash and sweat stains everywhere along with the men's locker room the same way, these people never maintain the broken equipment and not worth the $10 a month.
I speak on behalf of many many people that I hear complaining about this particular gym.
If there was a rating system lower than 1 ⭐ I would definitely use it.
I hope this gym will eventually fix their issues

They make it INCREDIBLY difficult and time consuming to cancel memberships. As someone who no longer lives in state, works full time and is mentally challenged, this is unacceptable.

My husband and I absolutely love our crunch fitness family! We have Erica as our personal trainer and she is perfect for us! We train together so she always makes sure to have workouts that challenge both of us! If you’re thinking of joining a gym…. Do it!! We have loved every step of this journey so far😊

I've been going for a little over a year now. The gym could be cleaner. There's time I've seen the small chunk of hair in the yoga room while I stretched for a couple of weeks. The equipment gets fixed pretty quickly, if one machine is taken you can likely find another that does similar. The Personal Trainers have kept me staying as a member. I love Robbi and she makes the work outs not seem soo intense. I'm working, she's counting, we have a little chat session and it's exactly what I need to keep on every week.

The customer service here was absolutely awful. I have been trying to transfer my membership for two months and the lady on the phone was so incredibly rude and hung up on me. There was no solution to my problem. I do NOT recommend this gym to anyone. Please please please find any other gym to go to because this one is by far the worst I have ever went to.
