Like other reviews have said, the pool is constantly closed even if it's supposed to be open. Today, memorial day, they posted on facebook that pool 2 would be open from 7-11am for open swim. There was a sign, right in front of the receptionist saying the exact same thing and yet, we arrive, attempt to go in and find it locked. The front desk then tells us it's closed for the holiday (while sitting right behind the sign they put out saying it was open LOL). I find that very unprofessional and im starting to feel like we are wasting our money! If you're planning to become a member for the pool, definitely reconsider.

This place is amazing and is filled with so much to do for the entire family. This is one of few places I have visited with everything in one place, pools, exercise equipment, sauna, track and more. Please do not expect to be able to use the pool regularly because it is closed more often than it is open. It is always out of chlorine (how do you not chlorinate a pool that is open 6 days a week?) or it always has “some issue” as to why it is ALWAYS closed! They expect you to check Facebook EVERY SINGLE DAY to see if they are open or not! Smh! You can EXPECT IT TO BE CLOSED! The man that manages does not care and would rather not have a pool as he has said directly to me how much of a “headache and hassle” it is and I was made to feel like I was a bother after getting my 76 year-old father dressed every morning to go to the pool to work out as he relies on it to build his strength and it’s always closed when we get there. Smh…UNPROFESSIONAL PERIOD! I need a manager that can actually manage the pool in the facility.

I had a rough time as I was going in. They were kind and helpful. I have four kids that I homeschool and I'm so grateful to be able to come here. Update: my disabled mother is now using the aquatic facility and the older adult classes to help rehabilitate herself after several surgeries. Everyone is kind and patient with her and I appreciate it very much.

It's a great place for lil ol' Lawton. I really appreciate the way they treat the elderly folks who come in to keep up with their health/well-being. I sent this via FB messenger and while it was read, it went without comment or response, ergo I will now re-post it here:

I'm going to try and keep a civil tone, but I'm pissed.
I've been a swimmer my whole life and totally respect the difficulties in maintaining a pool. I'm used to them being closed due to the myriad of reasons.: lightning, guards, pumps, heaters, chemicals, etc. It's the life of a swimmer; I'm never going to have to deal with a conventional gym being closed, we just adapt to pools being closed randomly.
My angst is that I drive across town only to discover it's closed upon arriving there. I check your FB to see if there is an announcement indicating closure, prior to leaving, like tonight........nothing. And yet it's closed and my time is wasted. Time is a commodity that is spent and forever gone, we can't get it back. I value my time. Please be consistent in posting closures on your FB.

Edit........amended from 4 stars to 1 star, due to lack of response or comment to this review, after 7 days.

update 12/30/24: Once again Pool 1 is closed when the schedule indicates it should be open at lunch time. Interestingly, the nice lady at the front desk said, when I commented that the closing wasn't posted online, that it should be posted on FB. YES! you nailed it, it should be! But it wasn't, I checked before I drove across town , and once again when I got there and saw it closed. You are right though, It should be posted on FB. Thanks again for wasting my time. Sigh......

It's big, I love everything it offers and I love the indoor track, and the price for as family membership is what we needed with a family of 8. The only thing I didn't like is that my 9 year old can't get on the treadmills and was one of the main reasons we needed the membership because these kids make it to the Jr Olympics every year and the Y has the speeds we need on their treadmills.

Our family loves the Y! I have attended multiple groups classes and they have all been great. Fitness abilities vary and the instructors are great at modifying up if you need it to be harder, or modifying it down for beginners. We are also taking private swim lessons with Coach Barbara who is one of the best swim coaches we've ever worked with. They have child watch that is included in the membership and the ladies down there are fantastic! They are very friendly and welcoming and have crafts. I know my kiddos are in good hands and don't need to worry about them while I focus on my workout.

I was very excited about the spa area. Until I actually used it. Two weeks of being a member, I watched the CEO break the hot tub by turning on the jets when the water level was too low in early December. He argued with me when I caught him. That day everyone was upset that the jets were not working properly anymore. Several of us are veterans that used those high pressure jets for pain management. Everyone was complaining that it smelled terrible in the spa area. According to the front desk staff no one had cleaned it in days and there wasn't enough staff to do it. I had gotten athletes foot and a rash across my chest after a few days of being a member. After several wonderful fitness instructors and other staff left, I became fully aware of the mismanagement of the CEO that argued with me when I caught him red handed. I planned to go to a meeting when I discovered that the board members were at the gym every day. They were fully aware of the mismanagement and filth and I wasn't going to waste my breath. They constantly send out emails inviting me back. I was hoping the problem would have solved itself by now and I could go back. I called today and discovered that everyone is new EXCEPT for the CEO destroying the place. What an absolute shame one person can ruin a place like the YMCA for the whole town! What a waste.

Was extremely disappointed with how the YMCA handled an issue with my account after being with them for 10 plus years. They didn't want to hear me out or talk to me about anything even though it was clear there had been a mistake. They didn't want to do anything at all to resolve it or help me out. Don't go here to swim the front staff is so kind but the lifeguards are butt they're so power hungry over a 3ft deep pool told me I couldn't hug my husband or even kiss him so if you want to swim go somewhere else they even put out these water toys and my husband and I grabbed one and we were both instantly scolded it was as if we couldn't breathe without being told something

This aint the place to come to swim. Brought my family here, There's two pools. One is for adults to lap-swim only. The second pool is for free-swim, but half of it is taken up by 3 lane blockers (there's already a pool for this). Then, they come in and do an aerobics class and block off another half of the pool and make all the kids go into a tiny quarter square of the 3 1/2' pool. Why doesn't the aerobics class use the other pool? nobody was even in that one. So essentially we paid $10 a person to be in a tiny square of a pool thats like 15x15 ft. with a bunch of kids. Almost anywhere else is better than this. The hours to their pools are restrictive. Wouldn't recommend this place to anyone.

As one of the older YMCA's I have been to, at least they have 2 pools and keep ths place really clean.

There is a problem with their membership.
I am a veteran and a member of silver sneaker. A family membership should have a 50% discount applied to the membership or something.

I get a free membership for me, but my kids and girlfriend can't go with me, so I end up having to pay full price for a family membership even though I am free. Just does not add up.....

Too expensive for a military town. The amenities are never available, such as the basketball court, and pools. My son gets a family discount w/ his employer. Apparently, for the family discount, you can only qualify 2 adults and 3 children under the age of 18. My son is 20, and he wanted to add me, his dad, and his brother and sister, age 17 and 13. Needless to say, we decided to pass.

It is unacceptable to not be open on stated hours. There are multiple people waiting here on Saturday morning 15 minutes after it’s supposed to be open at 7 and not a sign of an employee! Nice to know we pay for a membership for a place that can’t open on time!

Everything thing about the Y is great except for the “Rejuvenation Area”. After a work out it’s nice to go sit in the Sauna. Everyone except for one person is respectful and allows others to enjoy their sweat except for one man. He’s in there every m-f. He blasts his music. He does not wear earphones/pods. Many times I have heard people ask him to turn his music off or use ear/headphones. People are clearly uncomfortable and annoyed. Most end up leaving early and are not able to enjoy their sweat. It’s too bad the Rejuvenation center does not have the same rules as the gym area about no loud music and wearing ear buds/0hones

I want to take time to THANK Mrs. Sherri the woman who runs the swim team and aquatics and her swim instructors for the Barracudas. They are so helpful and kind. The teacher got my daughter hooked on swimming which I am so happy as I love to swim. Sherri has worked with us in getting our daughter swim gear and figuring out cost. The YMCA facility in Lawton, Oklahoma is awesome. They have 2 indoor pools, a Safina and a hot tub just to name a few of the amenities we sampled today. With a family membership, you get 2 hours of free child care each day! There are plenty of activities for the children including an arcade room! We will definitely be getting that membership... it is only $55 a month!

Clean and basic smaller Y. My daughter and I went to do family memberships and sign kids up for swimming lessons. Two friendly desk staff were handling member check-ins and all else with little sense of order— The process was very slow—took about 30-40 min. But the gym looked well-kept and there’s a raised running track above it. Two indoor pools were closed due to “storms” which is very antiquated and odd. Looking fw to activities here :-)

I was really amazed and pleasantly surprise With the fitness center. The equipment that was there compared to any of the upscale fitness centers that I have visited in the past. The location and parking space availabilly was a plus for me. I had no problem finding parking availability And Appreciated the little park area in front of the YMCA while waiting for family to arrive. My overall visit in experience was most pleasant and enjoyable and I do plan to return to taking advantage of the fitness center.

My sister attended summer camp at this ymca and it has been a nightmare. She is a hyper kid but that’s why my mom choose a summer camp and not a daycare. The young unprofessional counselors were very mean to her and other campers. She came home with bruises on her often. One day my mom even found two children just wondering around outside. They called for her to be picked up for every single minor event because the staff is very undertrained. She also has 3 bruises that where a grab mark from a counselor named Calea

Also it’s very funny that they only reply to the 5 star reviews and not complaints in ADULTS leaving bruises on children.

Update... Very disappointed. Had gotten the membership that was on a promo discount for a limited time. Our family of 5 had only gotten to use our membership mayb a handful of times n e where between 4 mayb 5 times n that 3mth frame from mid May till August. Each time we attempted to go to the basketball court (use to b 2 locations now only 1) was always occupied. Couldn't go to Zumba because the times offered were certain days n in the morning. The pool was open only during certain weird hours n when they were open there would either b training for swimmers or it was already at full capacity so with all the activities we wanted to enjoy as a family we were very disappointed n honestly not so thrilled to b members. The icing on the cake was when one of my teen boys was trying to go hang out to the gym there n workout with some of his friends and with no reminder of the promo ending the day it supposedly ended my son was publicly embarrassed and was then informed the account had been suspended. The mthly payment came out auto draft w/ our bank. Never missed a payment nor have n e payment issues. The least the staff could had done is allow my son temporary admission n spare him the embarrassment then politely n discreetly take him to the side away from his friends n inform him the information and encourage him after allowing his admission as a courtesy gesture to contact us (his parents) to reinstate the membership n informing us the option may b a increase n mthly payment due to the promo offer had ran its course. If that would had been the case, we would had considered that gesture as loyalty customer service and would had continue our membership with the company n pay the new mthly rate. Very unfortunate 😔

The building has had several large additions over the years so the layout is odd. Childcare on site. Two pools. Lots of weight machines and a racketball court. Separate locker rooms for teens. First day at YMCA. Staff was friendly, equipment was clean and in good order, and equipment cleaning supplies were readily available. I used the cardio equipment, day locker, and shower without any issues. Bridgette and the rest of the staff are extremely kind! They allowed my youth group to take showers here free of charge for three days. We are from our of town. If they hadn't allowed this I don't know what we would have done! From what I saw of the facilities they seemed decent, clean, and updated.

I paid for swimming lessons for my grandsons. The aquatics director was not very good about scheduling and returning calls. Many times she would seem confused about the arrival time and she seemed bored or not very enthusiastic. I will not be using the YMCA for further lessons. I wish I could get my money back.

Very nice facility and nice staff. Couple knocks tho. For Lawton YMCA to be a for profit center a little extra emphasis on old basketballs and proper cleaning of the gymnasium doesn’t seem so hard. Although y’all have many different services, less attention is given to the adult male as far as offering different sports and leagues. The youth has like 2 or 3 different basketball leagues alone. Lastly as a dedicated basketball player, the gymnasium is my favorite place in the facility. Certain mornings between 9:15-10:15, others and myself may be kicked out of the better gymnasium and either told to come back or go to the other gym ( the less nicer gym). This is due to the fact that they hold an elderly class. If they didn’t require the whole gym when they only use one half of it would be ok, but like I said the ones that use the whole gym have to relocate when the class can be held in the other gym all together.

Closes their racquetball courts, of which there are 3, when yoga uses 1 of the courts due to yoga not wanting the noise from the other 2 courts. So it ends up that one cannot play racquetball the majority of the week during proper gym hours.
