We hadn’t used the pool in a while but I was very surprised at the rude lifeguards today. We used to swim quite a bit there and this is the 1st time this has been an issue. One in particular was very rude and arrogant (Aiden). The children aren't allowed to play without constantly being yelled at even when they are following the rules. This lifeguard in particular looked and acted pissed off and like he didn’t want to be there. Entitled and just acted horribly as if he hates children. He was yelling and just having a bad attitude toward most of the families and children in there. It’s sad because my kiddos love to swim and interact with the Lifeguards but I can’t say we will be back. The pool is one of the big reasons we have the family membership but I don’t want to pay a monthly membership to be treated like this.

I will not be going back. Felt harassed and belittled by older staff at the gym at every corner. Rules especially pertaining to the track and which direction to go by which day highlights the controlling nature of this place. I am sure we signed a waiver so to be that uptight regarding machines is odd. Do they want people to be healthy or not? Offering services in disrespectful ways no one asked for interrupting my workout. I need to leave before this affects me going to the gym again period.
Please just leave people alone to workout!

I use the competition size pool during the week and the upstairs non-weight bearing machines.
Lifeguard Larry is amazing. He assists swimmers in finding an open lane, knowing his repeat customers so well that he knows who will soon be wrapping up their workout.
He's pleasant and encouraging and assists as needed in so many ways, even getting a towel for you if you forgot to grab one.
The receptionist desk folks are so nice and helpful as well.
It's clean and generally well maintained, although the drying machines for your swimsuits are often down, probably from some errant piece of clothing that someone attempted to dry, so customer error.
Thank you Chris Berry and crew for running a top-notch place.

I really enjoy Mitch Park and all their programs. I have enjoyed so many of their classes and more lately pickleball. We would really appreciate having an evening or weekend time for pickleball also since the whole family can't play during the day. Thank you for a great community space and friendly staff.

I appreciate the Y for location, cleanliness and the classes offered. This is my first full year at Mitch. Unfortunately, the basketball courts were closed for several weeks because of the reconstruction of the floor. Many times the running and walking area is closed for cleaning, maintenance and during/after heavy rains. I need the track fully functional when it rains or I would run outdoors. There are certain times when the workout area is very crowded, but I think I have found a good time on the days I go that are more manageable. If the leaky roof could be fixed, that would go a long way for me. The cycling class has been very good. My health has improved since joining. I wish there was a rebate for seniors. Thank you.

The Mitch Park Y in Edmond is the perfect location - in a park with several miles of walking/jogging/biking trails. The Edmond senior center and Parks and Recreation are beside the Y. The Y has two pools for families and school swim meets. The exercise room has plenty of treadmills, machines, and free weights. The indoor track is nice especially in the summer when it is too hot for outdoor walking and running. The staff there are very nice and helpful.
My only complaint has nothing to do with the facility, but with the city of Edmond. There is a free local bus service that has six routes around central Edmond. Surprisingly, none of them serve Mitch Park even though the Y and senior center are there. Edmond keeps spreading out more, so it is getting harder to serve with public transit. They seem to have “solved” this by cutting back the service even more. There used to be a multiple run service to downtown OKC, but they dropped it during the pandemic and have no plan to restart it. That really hurts us who don’t drive.

DO NOT TAKE YOUR KIDS TO MITCH PARK FOR SUMMER CAMP!! they only hired unqualified, underage teenagers to watch small kids without the proper training or qualifications!! I paid $250 per week to have to take off work and pick my son up because they weren't able to "handle" him!! if they can't deal with your kid they'll demand that you take off work immediately and pick them up! they'll cancel a lot of their field trips and activities. Kids stay most of the day in one room.. bored to death.. ah! and the best part: they will not refund ANY money. EXPENSIVE AND OVERALL HORRIBLE!!!

The YMCA has been woven into every chapter of my life. I grew up at the Y, and now my children have, too. My sons played sports there throughout their childhood, and my youngest explored every sport the Y had to offer before finding the one she loves most.
But the YMCA has always been more than just a place to play or work out , it’s where we’ve built friendships, found support, and stayed connected to our community. It’s where I gave back by coaching, volunteering, and joining charity events that made a real impact.
From the excitement of Parent Night Out as a child to staying healthy and strong as an adult, the Y has been a safe and welcoming place at every stage of life. In every city I’ve lived, it’s felt like home.
It’s not just a gym , it’s a cornerstone of community, growth, and belonging.

This is hands down the nicest Y I've ever been to! The staff are well-trained and friendly. My kids have practically grown up in the playroom and my daughter has done summer camp here. Many of the staff know them by name. The facilities are great and they're constantly making improvements. The pool and splash pad are top-notch and both of my children have done swim lessons at this location. Truly a great place to raise a family to recognize and appreciate the importance of an active lifestyle.

My wife’s car was broken into at the Mitch park YMCA in January. They broke three windows trying to get in. When the cops went to view the camera footage the quality wasn’t even good enough to get a make on the vehicle. The cop also said that it was the fourth time that they had been there in six months for a multiple car breakin. The YMCA had said nothing to any of their patrons about issues like that or upgraded the cameras so the police could possibly apprehend the criminals. But we continued to keep our membership for the family even though the membership price has almost doubled only to be met by rude people at the front desk. We have the 24 hour plan, today we arrived at the gym about ten minutes before closing time and the lady at the front counter stops my wife and say “ you do realize that we close in 8 minutes”. My wife responded with “we have the 24 hour plan”. The YMCA rep said that no matter what plan we have we will have to leave at closing time and check back in through the app. While I understand they needed us to do that for accountability purposes I did not appreciate the condescending tone that was used. We stepped out of the doors at closing scanned out app and went back in the complete our work out only to be stopped by the same person who tells us that we would have to stay out until everyone including the staff has left and then we can check back in. This is not 24 hour access then if I have to wait until everyone has left to check in. When we first joined the place was amazing and we have had a membership there for almost 8 years but I am currently looking for another gym!

This was my first experience here at the YMCA & Ladonna (the front desk attendant) was very unprofessional and rude. She made a remark that I was not a “member” there after trying to kick me out of a recreational room, when I’ve been a member for over a decade. The YMCA should only employ those who care about their members and treat them with respect. For my first experience, I was highly disappointed. I do not recommend going here.

Clean, well maintained facility with friendly staff and great lighting. The pool is nice but has a lot of time and use restrictions so make sure to check the schedule before showing up. The lifeguards were amazing and very understanding for people with physical disabilities. This YMCA location is perfect for anyone in a wheelchair. They offer a family locker room which has individual private rooms enable to change and or shower in. This was perfect for me to be able to assist my wife who is in a wheelchair, get ready for the pool.
This location even has an elevator, which allows anyone in a wheelchair the ability to access the second floor where the gym and workout equipment are located.

I went to this location in hopes to play some basketball. After about 20 mins of shooting the ball I was told that there is a thunder youth practice being held soon so I would need to leave. No biggie. I went upstairs to practice my dribbling because they refused to let me sit on the sidelines on the actual court. I was told that basketballs aren’t allowed upstairs because “they are too loud” - a basketball? Half the course upstairs is the basketball court so that makes little sense to me. I feel if you’re going to have activities that impede regular amenities you should warn your members before they use them. Vasa has a better facility and I actually canceled my membership at the desk due to this locations consistent mismanagement. This location also had a very dirty bathroom unknown liquid all over the ground asking for a slip and fall lawsuit.

I don't post reviews at all but wanted to talk about the employee named Wes today, horrible customer service. Made it seem as though I had caused him a great deal of trouble when I was trying to get signed in to the family plan I was added too. Every other employee is amazing and smiles, used to come in at 5am and the front desk employees would smile and greet me kindly but not Wes, it seems as if he has some grudge against humanity itself. I have met drill instructors who even on their bad days showed more kindness than him and they would pull 14-16 hour shifts 4-5 days a week. Other then that, great facility and love the pools along with how clean they keep the building!!!

My wife and I have been members for about four months. We actually purchased our house based on the proximity to this YMCA. So far, we have been a bit disappointed. We hang in there because the instructors for the various classes are really excellent. But the facility, and the OKC YMCA is managed very poorly. The Mitch Park managers tend to stay isolated behind a door that says “authorized personnel only”. The front desk personnel do their best to ensure that no one bothers them.
A major concern at the YMCA is that they provide a caustic industrial cleaner to disinfect the exercise equipment. I brought it to the attention of the YMCA headquarters back in April and the situation has not yet been corrected. (See attached picture of label).

The front desk employee with the name tag "Wes" was lacking people skills as he was unnecessarily rude muttering "oh my god" and sighing very loudly to express the inconvenience of signing my family up to the Y. Also asked me if "I had any information at all" about what I wanted to sign up for. Yes, I want to sign up for a family membership. Am I supposed to know the 15 different programs the Y offers or are you supposed to assist in that process? The fact that he works the front desk is laughable. I'm all for having manners but next time I'll leave mine in the car.

Great friendly staff. Lots of classes. Big pool. The kids care here is great and my boys have fun playing while mommy and daddy work out. Family membership is a great deal if your kids play sports as each sport is only $10. So for 2 boys $20 for each season is a steal. Swim is only $70 for 8 lesson class. Tonight will be our last night at the Edmond YMCA. We have been going to Family Swim Night throughout the summer, and experienced lifeguards who ignored rules of their own pool, to ONE kind, friendly-reminder lifeguard. Gradually, we noticed a change, and it kept getting worse.
The lifeguards tonight, 8/21/2024, were beyond rude, angry, and arrogant. They screamed at us, the adults, and our kids, who were following your rules!! We were so embarrassed, we left in tears after 10 minutes.
I'm not sure where teenagers get-off treating adults like that, but I'm not putting up with it any more.
One star is too much for the cesspool of lifeguards currently on staff.

The lifeguards are very rude and expect unrealistic expectations. They are disrespectful and disregard any thing that would otherwise be understood. They went as far as causing an anxiety attack with no interest in my explanation that then resulted in an asthma attack. We came there to get away from the cruelty and instead was met by someone who was obviously better and knew more. Heed the other comments. I'm sure there other areas are great but they need to rethink their ugly staff which I'm not referring to physical looks, but go to lifetime or another YMCA for swimming. Changing rooms were nasty anyways.

The facilities are top notch, very clean and so many options available. Two story water slide, slash zone, pools, basketball court, indoor track and a few studio rooms. Pricing sheet available at the front desk, includes sports leagues and locations of other YMCAs in OKC.
My only complaint was Steve working at the front desk. Wasn't greeted, and no one was checking as members scanned in. Steve let us know and the others waiting, he was working on a project and would be with us in a moment multiple times as he sat at the other computer. Anyone could walk in without checking in, after five mins I realized I could just walk around and check out the facilities instead of waiting to ask Steve if we could have a walk around. The second person was back to work the desk by the time we left.
That being said the other staff we encountered were very helpful. Most information was posted on boards around the facilities.

Today was my first visit to the YMCA with my Silver Sneakers membership. I had a very pleasant experience with the gentleman at the registration desk. He told me where to find the ladies locker room for the pool. I went to the pool and sat on the steps of the pool in front of the sunny glass windows. So peaceful after all this cold weather and cabin fever. A minute or two later a young female lifeguard came over and told me I had to leave. They had a swim lesson across the other side of the building in a separate pool. She said I could not do the pool walk. I replied I was just going to sit on the steps and enjoy the sun. She went and got her supervisor- another lifeguard. I think his name was Canyon. He told me I had to get out. He said I could not expect to be able to come to the pool whenever I wanted. I said no one is in the pool. He told me to leave or he would have to call the police. As I was leaving he ran up to me in the lap pool area and yelled that I wasn’t allowed in there and the coaches would be angry. I asked how he expected me to walk back to the ladies locker room where my belongings were? He was such a jerk. Bad first experience for what I felt was going to be relaxing!! He clearly had no respect for me at all… I am 69.

I’m a current customer and while the outdoor area is amazing, indoor is terrible!
I received conflicting information about Child Watch when I signed up and was told my special needs child would be okay to use child watch. Instead a young Caucasian girl (brown hair) in child watch on 11-26 at 2:35pm asked my son how old he was and then told me my son had to sit outside. Their “kid area” is literally on the opposite wall (with doors closed) in an open area.
For all parents reading this, your kid can only use child watch if they are 3-7 years old. Thats it. LMAO! So your 8 year old will just have to be on their own or it’s up to you parents to figure it out.
If that was the case I would have rather signed up for another recreational facility. What a waste of money.
No worries if you’re child free, then you might not even care. But if you have kids, just stick to their YMCA sports seasonal programs. The actual indoor incentives the facility offers are pretty much trash. Save your money!!!! The public has to pretty much almost search the dark web just to find their child watch HOURS. Man..just use their outside stuff and tracks and trails. You’ll be wayyyy LESS disappointed. It’s my fault for placing an Edmond location on a pedestal.
The ONLY plus (in my opinion, why I gave 2 stars instead of 1) is their indoor pool, which other places also have too, so don’t feel stuck with this being your only option with indoor swimming.
I will be canceling my entire family membership and I’d rather utilize the new Willa D Johnson facility in OKC.
The picture is the person the front desk told me is over the child watch program, shoot your questions to them if you want more info.

I joined and thought I could swim regularly. Frequently the pool is closed to its members and booked for other activities. The free weight area is usually crowded. I just could not get the workout I wanted due to overcrowding and closures on holidays. Limited hours on the weekends when I have the most free time.

This facility Mitch Park the executive threatened to call the police on three of my boys, because they forgot they had a splatter ball in their backpack. First, Chris Berry the Executive Director said they can continue to keep the splatter ball on the premises if it stayed in their backpack and they can play with it off the premises. That was okay. Then, Chris Berry two hours later comes to them and said that they had to leave the Y. He stated that they are suspended! While they tried to explain their side of the story he refused to listen and said he is going to call the police on them. Not once did he say he’ll call the parents. They weren’t doing anything in a threatening manner but trying to explain. When my son contacted me I requested to speak to Chris and I did. I asked why are they suspended and he said it’s due to the splatter ball and other incidents from the past two years. Mind you they started visiting there and playing basketball THIS YEAR! Then, when I asked him “Are you serious? Because this doesn’t make any sense!” He stated, “I am going to call the police!” I couldn’t believe my ears, because if my boys caused any ruckus then why wasn’t I contacted in the beginning?? My boys said they have never seen Chris a day in their life for him to know their behavior and etc. Today, was the first encounter. I am beyond upset at this facility and how they handle CHILDREN!! CHILDREN!!

Mitch park is super clean and has a good amount of stuff to do!
There's a YMCA located at the front of the park, several pavilions and picnic tables plus a park for kids to play, walking trails, places to play disc golf or several other sports like baseball. The city keeps the park quite clean and offers pavilion rentals which are great for parties and get-togethers. Overall a great place to spend the day!

They don't uphold some pretty basic tenets of their Mission and Cause statements. I have a wonderful funny, and bubbly little girl who has some slight emotional problems during transitions. Instead of working with us and her to help, they did absolutely nothing and ended up kicking her out after only about 5 total hours of Summer Camp over two days. Their Mission and Cause statement are a complete contradiction to the Christian way and how they operate. Simply pathetic...
Our Mission
To put Christian principles into practice through programs that build healthy spirit, mind and body for all.
Our Cause
At the Y, strengthening community is our cause. Every day, we work side-by-side with our neighbors to make sure everyone, regardless of age, income, or background has the opportunity to learn, grow and thrive.
Signed,
A Loving Parent

Nice park with great access to the YMCA. The roads in the park are not the greatest and could use some attention.

Update. They have added more machines. However the free weight area has become the primary workout facility for every 15 year old in Edmond. Do not join if you ever need want to lift weights between 4-6 pm, every machine has 4 kids around it.
Free weight area is grossly underbuilt for as big as this place is. This is a top notch facility but if you like to lift weights, it's way too small. They need to expand the free weight area into some of the cardio area. Cardio area/stationary machines take up way too much room. I don't think I've ever seen all the cardio stations taken up, but the weight room is always over crowded. Just increase the size of the free weight area by say 30%, and it's a perfect area. Also...make the weight room at the minimum 16 and over. Weight area is overran with young teens at the 5 o'clock hour, a good portion of them standing around doing nothing. Might as well not even go if you are a working professional, no free weights available.

I have never met such hateful people! I have given them the benefit of the doubt every time I’ve been in there or made a phone call but every time it’s the same song. They must be miserable old women. They are rude on the phone, in person, and the do not have a clue what is going on. This Y should look at Guthrie y for customer service advice. If you hate your job that much you should leave. The Y should to better in hiring friendly faces that love life and want to help people for their front desk.

Everyone is friendly. We came there mostly because of the leisure pool. The pool is nice, but we need more free family swimming time in the schedule, please. Another thing, for safety reason, your kids have to use the vest unless they pass the swimming test.

We have a family membership here, plus we have a personal trainer. It seems as if they have a culture of lazy or complacent employees. Half the time, they do not even look up when you are checking in. They have been less than useful more than a few times. We have had multiple issues with the childcare as well. Honestly, though, the main reason we don't leave is because we LOVE our personal trainer.

The staff is great and friendly, but that is the only nice thing about this place. The pool is completely blocked for lessons and swim leagues. You probably get one hour a day max to swim. The gym equipment is packed in a corner and it's always super busy.

Enjoyed time with my nephews and neice as well as my daughter.
As I walked around the walking circle pool, several small children whom I never met before. Started a game of tag.
They kept getting in my way as I walked around the pool.
So I started slapping the water with my hands cupped.
Next thing I hear is giggling and laughter. So as I passed by they started saying you can't get me. 2 parents that were present told them to get out of the way when I was approaching them. I had fun and they did to.
By the end of the evening I was tucker out, speeding through the water chasing them or rushing away from them.
As I rested on a bench some of the children walked past me with their parents. And they would stop and smile and say you can't get me. I replied you are correct. I am to tired to try.
I enjoyed their smiles and they enjoyed mine.
1 small boy argued with his Mother. Right in front of me. He was one of the boys who had been splashing me when I was not looking at him.
I looked at him. I spoke up and got his attention. I explained to him that if he wanted blessings (good things) in life like real joy and happiness. He needed to learn to honor his mother. He looked with surprised look. He didn't understand.
So I explained to him that obeying his mother even when he did want to. Is how he honors her. And shows her how much he loves her.
My basic is from Scripture. God commands children to obey their parents. He doesn't give any exceptions to the rule.
Remember that no matter how old you might be you are someone's child.
Whether or not your parents are great or the worst. Honor them, love them, you might be what changes them to be better. Your life will be blessed for doing right.
This little guy said he would try.
His mother spent almost an hour trying to teach him to swim. He was not very cooperative with her. Most of the time.
His mother thanked me for trying to encourage him and help him.
Maybe I will see some of them again. I hope to be an encouragement to them and someday a friend. A friend who can help them to love, honor and obey their parents.
God wants us to share his promises with others.
Something as simple as laughing when strangers splash you or get in your way. Can be used to demonstrate God's love toward them.
Children are precious every Last one of them. I am truly blessed!

Not a fan that adults looking to lap swim have to use the pool where there is more chlorine and pee than water. Worth the drive to moore or Rockwell if you can swing it.

Had a membership for the family when they started up - it was so wonderful and I would have given them lots of stars! The place quickly deteriorated: swim meets took up the pool and we were whittled down to 1 day of use. Classes piled up and there was no space - even for regulars. Staff was rude over the last year. COVID policies were absolutely RIDICULOUS! They would not give us money back for being shut down for almost the whole year.

This is supposed to be one of the nicest facilities but has the worste fitness center. The setup is ridiculous. They continue to pack more machines in here bit won't fix the machines that are broken. I have to wait in line for equipment every time I am in here. I am very disappointed in this facility. I have been utilizing the Ymca for years and I have been to every facility in the state and this is by far the worst one but the outside sure looks nice
