I’ve had a terrible experience with management at Planet Fitness - East 71st & Mingo, specifically with the General Manager Nick. If this gym was the only one left on Earth, I’d build my own just to avoid his ego.

I come in daily for physical therapy as part of my recovery from a serious motorcycle accident that left me unable to use my right arm. For two weeks, I communicated proactively with staff about resolving my past due balance of $180 and setting up a workable payment plan. The team was friendly, helpful, and genuinely resolution-focused — the kind of service that makes you feel valued as a long-time member.

Then I encountered Nick.

Despite knowing my situation and that I was only 48 hours away from getting paid, he turned me away and denied me access to the facility, interrupting the critical daily consistency required for my physical therapy. He also canceled a second Black Card account I opened — and paid for — claiming that having multiple memberships was against policy, even though I was charged to open it.

Instead of helping resolve the balance, Nick prioritized flexing authority over retaining a loyal customer. He even threatened to call other nearby Planet Fitness locations to have me blocked from working out anywhere. I still made a $63 payment shortly after, but within hours, his new store manager contacted me saying that payment wasn’t enough and demanded more money — just 3 hours after I paid.

No empathy. No professionalism. Only ego.

Nick’s conduct has been deeply unprofessional, retaliatory, and completely lacking in customer care. He has single-handedly damaged what is otherwise a solid gym brand. His behavior warrants immediate action from corporate.

Until Nick is held accountable, I cannot recommend this location to anyone. Loyalty and communication should count for something — but clearly not here.

I like this Planet Fitness. It's a little crowded around 7pm which is when my husband and I usually go but there's room to use the equipment we need. There's a variety of equipment and weights available for all needs. The only thing I don't like is that there are many more men than women. Since I go with my husband, I feel safe and dont mind it, but I would not go by myself at night due to the disproportionate number of men. The gym does have great equipment though and everything seems fairly clean, which I appreciate.

I am new to the area and I have made the Riverside location as my home gym. I have been coming here a few times now, but Chloe was able to leave an Impression on me !! When I first come into this location she was very hospitable, able to take care of every task she was handed and then some, all while keeping a true smile that sparkles ! I just joined after doing day passes at a couple other gyms in the area. The place is spotlessly clean, the machines are all like new, and the clientele is great.
I think they have just the right amount of equipment - plenty of machines (I focus on weight training with machines), but not too many. Some clubs have a hodge podge of different manufacturers' machines that do about the same thing in slightly different ways which is unnecessarily complicated and time wasting to sort out.
They dont have basketball, a pool, or group classes/rooms, which is fine with me, but if you want these things look elsewhere.
One suggestion I have - buy some additional kettle bells. The heaviest I found was 30 lbs and this is inadequate for most men. They also need a rack as they were scattered around the rear functional exercise rooms.
I compared to others and felt they were the best, so I signed up.

I never had a problem with this location until I tried to go into the location to cancel. I was advised it was canceled, then a month later I was charged again. Customer service couldn't get the location to answer in the evening or morning after several attempts and then manager never contacted me as promised. An hour drive to cancel in person and then an hour on the phone. What a ridiculous waste of time.

OK I’m back at the 71st & Riverside location and I can honestly say I missed it. The staff at the other location is friendly and helpful but nothing in comparison to this location, they are like family. The location is finally back open, cleaned up and seems to be much nicer than before. Just like Dorthy said when she clicked her little red shoes together “ there’s no place like home”

My mom has a membership and everytime she’s in there they have heavily pregnant women doing jobs they shouldn’t be, like scrubbing the bathrooms or on their hands and knees scrubbing treadmills.. they don’t even offer them seats they’re having to sit on exercise balls again HEAVILY pregnant..

I love their 24 hour gym membership. I can get really inspired to work out in the middle of the night so this place is perfect for my late night inspirational moments. The staff are really nice and the lunk alarms are a cool idea to keep those weird “gym bro” people from causing too much trouble when I just want to run on the treadmill.

I’m a truck driver so parking is always my first concern and this location isn’t one to worry about. I parked on the side and there’s no signs and they’re not uptight. Hot shower, cold water fountain, and they remodeled and it still smells new. Good location, thanks a lot

Yet again planet fitness failed me causing me to cancel my membership, two of the team members were at 91st working, the female employee made a poor comment as I was walking away to her female coworker, her male coworker tried defending her by saying that's why us managers are here to remedy the situation, if that was the cause then you would not have been laughing and point at the customers when they turn and look back to see you doing so, great job yet again on losing your customers, yet planet fitness has failed to follow up to fix the issue against said employees

Close to home and doesn't break the bank. I can get in there and put in a couple of hours and be back home in a few minutes. Being 24 hours really helps with my schedule rotation. I would give 0 stars if possible. Carina Humphries was incredibly rude to me over the phone. She continuously argued with me when all I was asking was for answers as far as billing/cancelling. She was whining and accused me of being mean but she was the one raising her voice, and huffing/puffing over the phone. I decided to finalize closing my account due to the lack of respect I received from Carina H. Did not feel like a judgement free zone with Carina.

I own a couple of businesses and I could never and would never do a 50% price increase. You would think they’re now able to afford paper towels. Nope. The total body enhancement is fantastic as well, only downside is your guest can't use it too so only the Black Card member can get the full experience. Stopped in while traveling through Tulsa for a quick workout and shower. Workout area was nice and clean, however the women’s shower area was a mess. White goo on the walls and shower curtains. Bandaids and empty tubes and black stuff laying on the floors. The mirrored countertop was wet and dirty also. Women were sitting on the countertop and the PF employee said nothing, nor was she attempting to clean while I was there.

Normally its a great experience here friendly staff clean equipment and just a chill place to work out, tho i went i few days ago and had a friend with me whos never been, when we walked up to the counter we were “greeted” by a lady at the front desk and in just the process of getting a guest pass she couldn’t help but scoff, roll her eyes, or just be straight rude with every word, incredibly aggressive, very similar to whenever you’re in orientation, and you see a video of what not to do as an employee, but worse AND it was in real life! Frankly, I was astonished that somebody can actually act that rude and still be employed. Normally, I just go after work, but I decided to go during the day for a change of pace and that was a mistake!

Above is my original review, of when I rated the gym 5 stars. Currently, I'm in talks with the manager regarding a financial dispute and I find Christian most pleasant. He is attempting to resolve the issue which has left a bad taste in my mouth, and I appreciate him doing what he can. The final decision is out of his hands, but at the very least Christian is worth dealing with. Thank you.

I think I've settled on 4 stars for this location. Christian did go above and beyond to take care of me after my I experienced a very disheartening issue, and for that, I'm grateful. If I still lived closer to this gym I would continue to come here for their hours and clean facility. I only hope no others fall through the cracks in their care and service, but If you do, speak with Christian. We are all humans, and we make mistakes. How we fix them is most important. Thank you Christian.

Planet Fitness on 71st and Riverside can compete with any upscale gym I have been to in Tulsa! Excellent staff and impeccably clean!! Plenty of room and a lot of equipment! There has only been one machine I have had to wait for! The demographics vary in age and fitness level. It is a no judgement zone so No Worries!!

I normally have a good experience here but the guy at the front today was not friendly 7:29pm 01/24/2024. It’s been a while since I came back so I was already feeling anxious and for him to not say hi back and just stare at me all judgy then look back at his computer as if I wasn’t there was rude. If you’re going through something u aren’t the only one. Way to make people feel welcomed. I just left and I’m going to another location. This location is clean and has its nice people but besides that it seems like a competitive and unfriendly place overall. Probably won’t come back to this one.
