Spirit House Yoga is more than just a Yoga Studio. It's a community to belong to. The teachers and owners are expert instructors. I would recommend this studio if you are looking for a place for your Yoga practice or just dropping through OKC. The space is lovely and easy to access. They also offer teacher training, which I have taken, and am so glad my path led me to this studio. My experience has been top notch.

Martha & Ted nurture an environment for growth. Those who want growth will thrive here! The style of teaching is a wonderful demonstration of the fact that Yoga is not just asana, it’s a way of living. The Spirit House way of Yoga always has been, and always will be, for every body, every level, every shape, every age, every stage.

As someone who has been practicing for nearly a decade, I wish I would have found this studio earlier. If you’ve ever thought “I can’t do yoga” then this is your yoga studio. Martha and Ted are passionate about getting to know each student and empowering them to move their body in a safe and practical way. Even lifelong students can learn quite a bit in each class as their style of teaching really forces you to slow down and think about what you are doing. While you will still get a great workout, this is not a hot, fast flow kind of studio. It’s a studio for everybody and every body type. This is what yoga is really about and I love that they share their knowledge with the community, at the YogaLab, and lead others to become great teachers through their Yoga Teacher Training. Wherever you are in your yoga journey, there’s a spot for you at Spirit House.

They don’t claim ‘yoga is for everyone’ lightly. Whether you’re a beginner or an expert, regular or drop in, Spirit House is equipped to fit your needs. I used to think that yoga wasn’t for me and that I didn’t fit the mold I had in my head, but luckily SH changed that opinion. Their experience is unmatched and their focus on micro-movements and ability to tailor a class to each individual is impressive. Thank you Martha and Ted for creating a community that is so welcoming and enjoyable to be a part of!

Spirit House is such an amazing place for all people wanting to start their journey with yoga. The yoga teacher training program is one of the most beautiful things I have participated in and Ted and Martha have so much knowledge to pass down to all those that are eager to learn. Stop in for a class and see for yourself :)

As an older guy, I'd never thought I could do yoga, but here I am. No judgement here, no fancy moves, music or gimmick. Just honest yoga taught by folks who make it workable. Ted & Martha, as well as their instructors will guide you with humor, direction and demonstration off the mat. I'm very comfortable going to class at Spirit House. 🧘‍♂️👍

I love Spirit House Yoga. I'm older, out of shape, and overweight. I don't feel judged by any of those things by the staff or students. I've always felt welcome and included. Spirit House stresses safety, doing what you can, and never pushing you further than your body can handle. I've seen my balance, flexibility, and strength grow, and I look forward to going to class every week. The environment is fun, friendly, and entertaining, which is a perfect combination for getting out of your head, relaxing, and managing stress.

Spirit House was welcoming from the get go. After my first class with Martha and Ted, I knew this was the right fit. They’re both extremely knowledgeable and helpful, not only in the physical practice of yoga, but the philosophical side as well. I highly recommend this studio if you’re looking to deepen your practice and understanding of yoga!

Spirit House Yoga offers quality teaching, with a light-hearted and welcoming atmosphere. The teachers focus on their students, meaning they teach off the mat and watch the class as the students practice. They look for ways to enhance each student's pose and assist with modifications to safely incorporate each persons unique physical limitations, making it accessible to a wide range of ages, abilities, and fitness levels. Some words that reflect SHY are mindful, applicable, relevant, skilled, potent, encouraging, and empowering. If you're looking to care for your body for longevity, be in good company, and learn... this is the place to practice. If you want a quick gym type workout, then maybe not.

I have been to many yoga studios. It wasn’t until my experiences at SHY that I really learned what Yoga was/is. Martha and Ted are so knowledgeable and have a true gift of teaching. Every class engages your body mind and spirit. I am lucky to know and learn from them.

Spirit House Yoga has such a welcoming and comfortable atmosphere from the second you walk in the Studio, I love it! Ted and Martha's combined knowledge of all aspects in yoga gives you a full and immersive experience. Rather than pushing through fast sequences or stretching too deep in poses they teach about the alignment, the reasoning we do "A" and not "B", and how to really incorporate the practice we do on the mat into our daily lives. Since coming here I have not only found more body awareness but have cultivated a more mindful attitude and presence in my every day life. This is a wonderful and safe space and I recommend anyone looking to start or continue their practice to come here!

What impresses me most at Spirit House is the authentic connection and grounding I feel to self while I practice (through the teachers guidance), the education and focus of the teachers, the emphasis on anatomical neutral for alignment, the teachers’ ability to make a simple verbal correction to help me change the pose to something more effective for me, the structure of the classes which touches on all the main muscle groups, the importance of proper alignment and the timing of poses presented in class which allows me to breathe and feel the deeping of the pose.

I have been many times and appreciate the teaching of proper alignment with all poses, modifications for the difficult ones and your pacing with breath keeps me focused and coming back for more!!
I see why your studio is one of the original yoga studios of OKC and still going strong!

Martha and Ted have a vaste knowledge of what they are teaching. They set an example of how to actively further their own practices through workshops and training to better serve their students. These instructors and mentors emphasize the importance of having well rounded knowledge of all aspects of yoga, and focusing on teaching each student something new about their practice each time they walk through the studio door.

Spirit House Yoga has an amazing group of teachers and people of all walks in life. Ted and Martha not only show a fantastic quality of care to all who walk in their doors, but you can genuinely tell they are compassionate and loving people. I've felt at home since day 1 here, and I am a completely different person since I started coming here. They make me a better person.

My first class with Martha resonated with me because it was the first class I'd ever been to where I didn't feel like I had to be stone cold serious. She made it known I was allowed to laugh and let go of any preconceived notions I'd have for a yoga class.
Ted's humor and loving heart impacted me from the moment I met him. Plus he has some pretty rad one liners. He is one of the most caring men I'm proud to call a mentor. He consistently challenges me physically as well as mentally.

Whether you've never been to a yoga class, or have been practicing for years, you can always take away some bit of knowledge from each class you take here. And if you're looking to become a certified yoga instructor, check this place out! The work they do changes peoples lives daily!

Spirit House Yoga has incredible teachers on staff. Ted and Martha have been teaching yoga for quite some time (over a decade) and their experience infiltrates each class. Regardless of the instructor, great care is taken to welcome new and seasoned students alike. I have never experienced sentiments of judgement in this studio - all truly are welcome. Teachers with this level of experience are few and far between, and OKC is lucky to have Spirit House.

I had been practicing yoga for close to 10 years and was looking for a yoga home when I happened on Spirit House. You feel right at home from the moment you enter the studio. Ted and Martha are serious practitioners with a deep understanding and expertise of the practice and philosophy of yoga.

My first classes were with Ted, whose Baptiste roots were evident, and while I worked hard, his playful patter kept me engaged and present. He is a published author of two critically acclaimed books on the Bhagavad Gita. Martha is a self-diagnosed yoga nerd with Anusara roots. I love, love, love getting her well thought out and detailed classes. Her understanding of human anatomy and yoga therapeutics is amazing.

Don't take my word for it though, come in and find out for yourself. Whether you are a beginner or just looking to deepen your practice (you can get your 200 hou yoga teaching certification here as well) you will find what you need at this studio.

Spirit House Yoga is my go to place when I travel to OKC for deeper learning on yoga, thai bodywork, anatomy, healing and etc. Martha and Ted continuous to connect me to a better understanding of my body, mind and soul. I am a better yogi and person because through their teachings, I have learned to embrace my strengths and weaknesses. I wish I lived closer so I can have the Spirit House experience on a regular basis.

I found Ted to be too egocentric for me. He creates a somewhat hostile environment as opposed to one of loving kindness. Just my 2 cents. Go and see for yourself.

I have had the pleasure of attending classes and Yoga Teacher Training at Spirit house for the past 7 weeks now and I have to say they are the best Yoga studio in town. I feel like I have worked more and learned more in this short time than I ever have in my yoga practice. They emphasize finding the stability of the pose rather than pushing yourself fast and hard and sweating. But trust me you will sweat! Ted has a lovely phrase that he uses when he means "this may be hard" which is, "Okay I'm gonna squeeze you guys a little," and I don't know about anyone else but I'd rather be squeezed then pushed any day of the week!

After attending classes in many different studios across the city, I found my yoga home at Spirit House Yoga; I love the classes here!! Both Ted and Martha are superb teachers, and each leads a powerful and moving class. I feel welcomed and comfortable, and have seen my yoga practice flourish because of it. If you are looking for more than just a workout, then you should definitely give Spirit House Yoga a try! Thank you so much, Ted and Martha!!
