I for one definitely won’t be back. I was on the hack squat machine And this guy came up to me, asked me how many sets I had. I told him “two! I’ll make it quick” and he said no just get off my machine. Then told me he calls the shots around here “go to the 24 hour area and use the Smith machine for your squats, anywhere away from me “ I don’t get it everybody else just stood there and watched. I guess this guy really does have some pull. I tried to stand up for myself, but before I could even get a word out, he said don’t make me go tell the management on you and I’m a new member so this guy seemed like he had a lot of rapport I was just nervous and still new to the gym like I said so i grabbed my stuff and left …. Edit: I’m using my sisters account !! Stop trying to look me up in your systems I’m done with yall and your gym !

Pretty good gym. Cleanliness is top tier. The movie room is the only space that is sometimes lacking. If you run, you cannot hear the movie. The projector sometimes flickers out which is a technical issues. I am also said the cost you have to pay to use red light therapy but I get it equipment is not cheap. The employees are all so inviting. You will NEVER walk in or leave without them acknowledging you. Overall I would tell anyone who lives in Norman to come here.

Joined a month a go and pay for monthly only as I am traveling to Alaska soon. Trip delayed and I show up 1 day after my month was expired and had 2 days until funds would be available for another month. I asked if they could let me workout that day, already hyped and pre-workout drink doing it's job, and charge my account in 2 days. I was told no which was very disappointing. The gym is great and staff nice but that just left a bad taste in my mouth if you know what I mean.

I was injured at Steel Fitness & Tan when I stepped on a piece of glass in the shower, requiring stitches. I reported the incident immediately and asked if the gym would assist with medical costs. While I received a polite response, the management ultimately denied responsibility, citing lack of prior knowledge and using legal language to avoid offering any help.

The business is reportedly owned by Steve Teel, who is also an attorney, though I’m not sure if he was the one I directly communicated with. Either way, I found the handling of the situation disappointing — no accountability, no real concern, just a carefully worded refusal. I expected better from a place that promotes health and well-being. Be cautious

I have tried to get ahold of the manager several times with no call back. I needed to cancel my membership because I lost my job dealing with the grief of loosing a parent. Now I am 2 months behind and will have to deal with collections. Just be cautious because the don’t seem to care about what issues you have come into your life.

I have had constant trouble with canceling a membership. First, when I signed up I was told no contracts. Then I go to cancel and I was told I signed a 1 year contract. Over the phone they tried to cancel it informing me of all the details, and how I can buy it out. I tried that then was informed I can’t cancel it over the phone. I emailed like requested, and was met with give a call in response. I called again to be met with I can’t cancel now without being in person. So much hassle not to mention a steep price for a gym.

Okay gym. Slightly better than most corporate gyms. Frustrated by some equipment decisions (buying shiny, expensive things like the MX Tank sled that are much much worse than the cheaper options but look nicer), but they have everything you need to complete most workouts.

Make sure you have headphones though, and God help you if they die or you do an exercise that inhibits your ability to wear them. Terrible music selection. Easily the most hostile environment to the ears I've ever been in. Very occasionally they'll play some Kendrick, but it's always censored which feels like it should be considered a hate crime.

I canceled my membership in January over the phone. was not told i needed to sign anything and then i’ve been charged $31 for 8 months and now they refuse to do a refund absolute scam

update: as the owner said they do not process cancellation over the phone however her employees who i spoke to on the phone did not make me aware of that policy and told me i was canceled. the owner proceeded to make 8 months worth of unauthorized charges to my debit. it’s been 2 days and i have not received anything contact from the owner or manager.

I've been going to steal Fitness for over 3 years now and I can absolutely say that they have every piece of equipment that I have ever needed. The 24-hour room is an and absolute perk. I have ran on the treadmill in the theater room which always has bsnger movies. I take an advantage of the sauna, And the fact that they have an on-staffed massager just adds on to the great things that they have. And the staff always greets me as well as intentionally walk up to see how I am doing. A gentleman named Noah seems to be a fan of me as gore or of his way to make sure I'm going good and how my day is going, the staff are ALWAYS on the move cleaning and engaging with clients. If I had one recommendation I would say one of those ice tubs😅. A+ from me.

The gym has a lot of floor space and tons of equipment. However there is some confusion with the day passes. We were told it was good for 24 hours as long was made it in by the same time the next day, which I did ask before we left. I was then told the following morning by someone else that the pass only applied to staffed hours. We did like it there but it seems everyone needs to be on the same page about the day passes.

I absolutely love this gym. After a break of couple years got membership again. Most important for me was the kid’s area, we are absolutely in love with the kid’s area, young girls who work with kids are very kind and caring, they actually organize games and activities, they make time spent there fun. My 2 kids simply love spending time there, play in playground and toys. Highly recommend it to parents who need to work out and need childcare.

The gym seemed like the perfect gym to me from looking at the photos. I had assumed the entire gym was open 24/7, but it turned out only a portion was open at night. Normally I'd be cool with it, but the open portion only has restrooms, no showers or lockers. I'm sure if I worked out during the day, I'd love this gym, but I'll have to look elsewhere for now. They have everything needed for complete body workouts and more. Plus it's nice that the toner fills aren't sitting on machines playing on their phone or taking selfies, videos. People are working out.

I only have two issues or complaints.

1 - They close half the gym (The better half in my opinion) at 10 pm, while the other half is 24 hours.
2 - There aren't really many available lockers because they rent them out so 98% are always taken and it leaves very few for the remaining members to use.

We finally joined SF &T a few days ago. So happy we made the choice! Before the switch, we were going to a gym that was part of a nationwide chain, were paying a bargain price for monthly membership which included a free guest to tag along any time you worked out. After using the chain gym, we began to notice how unclean/unsanitary it was, broken machines, limited free weights, and for the amount of patrons “cattling” in, not enough equipment. One day we decided to walk into SF &T and noticed right off how clean it was, so many properly working machines, more than enough free weights, and much more room throughout the facility so you don’t feel like your crammed among the others working out. The staff is friendly and helpful. Love the theater room, what a great idea! My monthly fee + additional family member add-on is reasonable and it’s great they too can tan or attend a class without restriction. Can’t wait to try the classes and get back in shape with the help of SF & T!💪

I really like the gym it has so much to offer like long punching bags and sleds. It wasn't too crowded. The staff was nice and the blonde with freckles is one of the hardest workers around.

I hated the barbell bench press alone with the incline. it can be hard to get in the men's room because of equipment. They are pricey and I got charged 2 months after canceling.

The overall gym has practically double sometimes triple the machine or weights needed, so when you need to keep the pump going, you can always find a similar machine if your favorite is being used. I would give a full 5 stars but the 24 hr side lacks a lot of the equipment, that i particularly use so may be a little biased, but when brought to the attention of the staff about some of the equipment, Grace was more than happy to explain in a friendly, informative, and professional manner to set my mind at ease. I really enjoy going to this fitness center. It is super clean and it has everything! The showers are great! They are very private and very clean and nice. The locker area is nice. They have bathroom stalls that are pretty much completely closed in and nice. The staff always seems polite and helpful. They have a number of classes that you can go to and I believe most of them are included in your membership. They also have tanning and massage sessions available. I’m not sure of the cost for those services.
I just recently started back to a daily routine of going to workout. I sure have missed it. 😅

Not just the best gym in Norman! The best gym I personally have ever been inside anywhere.
I have not been there in about three years. They definitely have some new equipment. I was in town for about a week and enjoyed working out there. The staff there is super friendly and helpful. If they’re not helping customers they are cleaning. The gym always smells good.
There are people at the gym that are on different levels of exercise and fitness. Everyone I have met at the gym has been friendly. There is a free weight room where a lot of weight is being pushed around. But even in there most of the people are nice. But don’t be afraid to go in there, even though there are some pretty strong people in there working out.
When I lived in norman, I worked out there 5 to 6 days a week for several years. I never found anyone that wasn’t willing to help or answer some questions. As long as you were serious about working out. The main gym has an enormous amount of aerobic equipment and quite a few machines. There is a very large exercise room with a weight sled. on the 24 hour side there is about everything you would need. Dumbbells in every workout area.
The bathrooms are very clean and neat. I have never taken a shower there, so I cannot say as to how the showers work but the area is always clean.
I have never use the tanning, so I cannot comment on the tanning area.
Most importantly, the gym speaks for itself just go take a tour, bring your workout clothes and spend some time there. You won’t be disappointed. And after working out there for a while, it will feel like a lot of the people going to the gym are a part of your family.

Honestly the worst gym experience I have ever had. As others have stated they make it impossible to cancel so I had to take action to prevent them from taking money from me. On top of their ridiculous and impossible cancelation policy they were talking more than 30$ extra out each month! Seriously watch your accounts they will cheat you! The gym isn't that clean. I have seen a number of people use machine after machine without cleaning behind them nothing is done about it even when staff is informed. The staff are a bit rude a few of the girls are very helpful and kind but, the rest unfortunately have a bad attitude. There is one guy that will put max time on the tanning bed no matter what amount of time you ask for so stay safe and aware if you use those . I got very sick after one morning when I was there they finally decided to clean the dust bunnies from the ceiling. Right above me while I was using equipment! The massive dust bunnies that fell on my head while working out were discussing and the employee gave no cares to people being in his way. I had to stop my work out and take a shower because it set off my allergies so bad I almost went into an asthma attack.i mean really I could go on the locker rooms were dirty a lot the price they change is ridiculously over price for the extrem lack of amenities they offer. I'm sure I will get some rude comment back from them as others have honestly the fact that they only responded to bad reviews and it is usually rude and unprofessional says a lot on it's own. By the way being a locally owned business doesn't give you the right to rip people off. Don't let them full you they also have a large number of apartment complexes in Norman they aren't a small business. Seriously save yourself headache and find a different gym there are plenty around Norman with WAY better prices and they offer WAY more for a lot less and actually have a very clean facility. Honestly steel fitness is the nastiest gym I have ever been due to it because I have chronic health problems that lower my immune system I was literally sick the entire time I had a membership. I would feel better go to the gym and with in a few days I would come down sick again.

Best gym around the Norman area. The are so many things you can do that it would be simple to name the things they don't have which is a swimming pool. Other than that they got it there. This is a who place where gym rats can get done what they need to get done. Several cardio options, free weights, punching bags, and a place for posing. Considering all the things that can be done it is definitely worth the money to join this gym.

Worst cancellation process I have ever experienced. I've been trying to cancel for a year and they are still charging me monthly membership fee. And after exploring other options, they are absolutely NOT the best
gym membership prices in Norman. There are many other gyms in Norman with respectful, polite, courteous employees as well as customers who have empathy and compassion for others as well as better membership policies and membership prices.
****If there is any response to this review by any of their employees, I expect it to be as professional, discreet and as respectful as possible as I do not wish myself or anyone's personal information publicly posted online or spoken of to others. They have done this to other customers, which is appalling. Just look through the reviews They should be addressed in private! This should be a warning to others to beware of their cancellation policies.

Before I made the commitment to come to Steel, I tried other gyms in the area. When I walk through the door for the first time I was met with staff members greeting me. The atmosphere was inviting and the vibe was unmatched. That was about 3 years ago, and still to this day the place has not changed. Best gym in Norman and probably Oklahoma altogether. I’m not sure, but I’ll never go to another chain gym again. Steel has the most equipment of any gym Ive ever been to and it’s always clean and somehow even the bathrooms always smell good 😆 . The staff is all really friendly and helpful, they’re always hard at work. Pretty impressive!

I’ve been a member at Steel for over a year now, and I think that qualifies me to say that this is single handedly one of the nicest gyms I have ever gone to. You walk in and you’re greeted with calming essential oils and a welcoming staff, knowledgeable in anything and everything they have on display for sale. Overall, I love it here and even if I move from Norman, will still drive down here to hit the gym daily!

The vibe is so much better here compared to places like crunch, even on its busy days you are still able to get a bench or squat rack because they have multiple machines in multiple rooms. The locker room feels like home, literally, even when you walk in it feels so welcoming. The theater is a cool touch. I haven't attended any of their classes yet but I am excited too, love that they offer so much!

I’ve been to many gyms around the metro but Steel is the best, by far. The staff is knowledgeable and friendly, the gym is the cleanest you’ll find, and people show up to work hard. I workout with the best trainer around, Tommy Brown, who’s helped me greatly improve my strength and fitness level. I recommend Tommy and Steel Fitness to everyone I know!

I love working out at this place. It has everything I need from tons equipment to tanning beds and sauna. everything is kept super clean and the staff is great. I especially love working out with Tommy, one of their trainers. Not only does he keep things professional but he makes the gym fun! He keeps me motivated and takes my fitness to a level I never thought I could achieve. I do not think I would actually continue going if it were not for Tommy and all of the friendly staff.

I was never a person who went to " The Gym" for so many reasons that have now been eliminated. This gym has everything and the amazing staff to go along with it.
The layout of the gym is great and rarely are you having to wait for equipment use because there are so many options. Everything is kept so clean and maintained well.
I HIGHLY recommend training with Tommy Brown. He has over 30 years of experience and will navigate you through a gym and its equipment with ease. He individualizes your workout to meet your personal goals starting on your level. He will take you from feeling inadequate to being empowered.
