I can't recommend The Shrug Society enough! I've lost an embarassing amount of weight, I've made friends with the most fun people in Tulsa, and I get to brag about squating more than 1.5x my weight!

This gym has the whole range: people like me that joined with zero knowledge of strength-training, all the way to competition power-lifters. I expected it to be super intimidating but it's truly the opposite; everyone is so friendly! I'd say it's 50/50 for men/women and there are teenagers all the way to retired people.

The gym's owner, Johnny, is a record-holding lifter and has developed really amazing programing that will safely/gradually get you super strong! He configures your specific workouts based on what you want and need, how much time you have, and if you have any injuries. He also really helped me figure out my diet for losing weight and then not gaining it back.

Come work out with us!! Tip: the morning regulars are super chatty and there are lots of laughs (before 10:30am). The afternoons are more quiet. Most of us do: Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, Fridays. Wed/Sat/Sun are usually rest-days.

When I first joined Shrug Society, I wasn’t sure what to expect. I just knew I wanted to get stronger. From the very beginning, everyone was super welcoming! That was so comforting to the nervous person I am.

Johnny, the coach, has been incredible. He doesn’t just tell you what to do — he teaches you why it matters and makes sure you understand proper form and technique. Over the past year, my strength has gone up more than I ever thought possible, but honestly, the biggest change has been in my confidence and knowledge. I walk into every workout knowing I’m improving, and that’s because of the environment here.

Shrug Society has truly become a place I look forward to coming to — it’s motivating, positive, and filled with people who make you want to push harder. I’m so glad I found it.

I’ve been training with Johnny Price for 2 years now and can’t imagine being anywhere else. Aside from his outstanding programming and attention to his clients individual needs, the environment is super welcoming and inclusive. We have people ranging from 16-70 years old, of all sizes and abilities. Whether you’re a seasoned lifter or a beginner, this is a great place to be.

A great place to learn how to lift, stay active, and be part of a community eager to reach goals just like you. I’ve been with the gym since May 2024 and have lost 15 lbs, gained muscle, stuck to a unique to me program, AND gained a community of friends excited about my progress.
I highly recommend joining shrug- at least talk to Johnny about what kind of program he can build for you. You won’t be disappointed!

My son has been using Shrug Society for a couple months and I can see major improvements in every aspect of his life. Johnny Price is not only knowledgeable in every aspect of the business but he’s also kind and friendly and trustworthy. A 10 out of 10.

Good equipment in a private gym. You also get set up on a weightlifting program with a private coach. I've had great results and have recommended this place to several friends who've also had good experiences.

For a small business owner with a run down gym you'd think Johnny Price would want to keep people working out in his place of business.

Poor communication
Inattentive
Immature
Lack of knowledge
Lack of accountability
Egotistical

These are just a few things I attribute to The Shrug Society and the owner/coach, Johnny Price. I would give 0 stars if I could.

Johnny still owes me a partial refund for August - which was paid in full and he refunded half the amount- not the correct prorated portion and since has blocked me on all platforms so I cannot reach out and ask for my additional funds.

For anyone who wants to know the science and programming behind strength training there is no better place. Its all about technique and form. If you want to know what your body is capable of, this is the gym for you.

My son went here for a number of months, in the location by Tally's. He really enjoyed it, he learned a lot, and the owner seems like a great role model.

There are kittens, murals, books, and strength training equipment aplenty. The owner is very kind but also pushes you. As a woman, I have never felt uncomfortable by anyone here and have only ever felt encouraged to lift heavier and heavier. Fantastic environment

Owner is kind and pushes you hard! Pricing is great, equipment is plentiful and it isn't crowded when I'm there (I assume it is generally not too crowded)
