I was here on day one for a swim three years ago. It was a dream come true, a short walk from home.

I will miss this place. The people who greeted us, and those who held space to practice yoga. One and all.

Couldn’t justify the price. Better pools and gyms elsewhere that cost a fraction.

Stay away from this money grabbing Ponzi scheme business. They have been charging me and my husband for 2 months despite cancelling our membership. Even after several email exchanges and false promises of giving us our credit back they keep charging us and no refunds for prior wrongful charges.
Update: we have been trying to call everyday and we got charged again. Even after the dispute was “resolved” according to them. Hundreds of emails and calls and they don’t respond they just keep telling us they will get back. Most dishonest business ever.

This is my perfect gym. Love the Zone classes as well as other classes...a wonderful community and fantastic staff! Always clean. I am so sad to see it closing...can't find anything to compare with all of the amenities for the price.

Disappointed to know that Active wellness
center at Reeds crossing will be permanently closed.
It is one of the nicest gyms closer to home.

Not sure what would happen next to the infrastructure built to suite wellness center

Have you ever heard of a gym that can't keep swimming pool basketballs inflated? And staff and leadership who don't care? I have informed them about this lack of customer service issue and equipment issue for the past three summers. This is the fourth summer with no
Improvement. Today I received a snarky response, "Well, you know, basketballs aren't supposed to bounce in the pool." DUH! Condescending.

I have been a member of Hillsboro Active Fitness gym for a year. The club has nice facilities and a friendly staff. For me personally, the game changer has been working with Sergio Landeros, one of the senior fitness trainers. He has helped me increase my strength, address areas of weakness/injury, and become more mobile and flexible. Highly recommended.

Clean gym and members have good gym etiquette. Most the staff is friendly but some could improve. Equipment is quality and a good variety. The main area they can improve would be the hours, as they are VERY limited especially on weekends. If you want versatility in a schedule this is not the gym for you, especially given it's an expensive gym.

Gym closes way too early. There is not another gym in the area with such restricted hours as this. 3pm close on Sundays?? For a $100/month membership? Lol. The free weight to carido equipment ratio makes no sense. You have to pay extra to access certain areas with more equipment. This gym is way too busy for the size. Staff is hit and miss. Going to take my money elsewhere

I have been with active from the start and they have had problems since day one and have only got worse from there. Their kid zone hours and rates are a joke and everything is an add on, nothing is included with the kids membership other then 2.5 hours of care but their hours are not convenient for working parents so you can't even take advantage of the care. Also the family swim hours are terrible. Their opening pitch is great but that's where it stops, Lots of promises, no follow through and crap management!

Gym equipment is great, some cable attachments need changing as they are shredding it's uncomfortable to use. Single bathrooms near elevator were filthy, toilet paper with poop smears all over the floor. The childcare doesn't feel safe. You should not have children take off shoes because if here is a fire they will not be able to run out safely. There wouldn't be time to put shoes on. Person does not check stickers off and see if they match. Worker is not helpful to parents in retrieving children. We simply wait until kids come to us. Why can't the worker help bring the child to the parent? Is that too much to ask? Little kids are mixed with older kids and it's unsafe. Person is not supervising or engaging with the children. Some children have autism and epilepsy why offer video games?? You will cause an episode and it will not be good especially when the workwr isn't actually watching the children. I've waited months to join this gym and second guessing myself just because of the horrible kids club experience. Make the kids club safer and engaging. Also, make sure you follow all your company policies I already had pushback from a worker. If it's posted I expect them to be followed. Don't come here for the kids club unless they decide to revamp the place. It's not safe even with kids with epilepsy the video games need to go. There is no active supervision. Kids are free range. Workers shouldn't be on the phones and should engage with the children, it's part of the job. Please assist when children are leaving hand them to parents check the stickers. I have years in childcare experience this is not new to me.

I would like to amend an earlier negative review, after weeks of attendance and reflection. This is not so much an improvement in customer service, as a change in my personal perception of this gym's experience.
The staff here has proved over time to be friendly and helpful. My health coach helped nudge me towards better nutrition, and the membership director seems to really care about her clientele. The clientele tends to be on the senior side and the gym atmosphere is sedate. Some of the machines electronically monitor fitness metrics, but for a strength gym, the apparatus selection is fairly limited.
On another plus side, the outdoor pool is uncrowded in the summer and a very pleasant place to hang out.
Bottom line: this is an excellent local find for seniors, families and anyone who prizes a quiet and stress-free space to get their reps in.

Mixture of incompetent staff
Good basic gym with all new equipment. You won’t find anything above basic in regards to weight lifting equipment compared to a 24hr fitness or Planet fitness.
I don’t think this gym can have more than 10 people in the weightlifting area as there are very few machines. Very limited selection.

Great cardio machine selection.
BUT, if you like a quiet gym, this is the best.

Kids club is great.
Two pools and hot tub and sauna awesome

Way Overpriced though for about $100 a month. Membership should be under $30 per month.

This is a great place to workout! The gym has a lot of natural light and open spaces. It is not too crowded - there is never a wait for the cardio machines, weights, or swimming lanes. My kids also love the kid's club, allowing me to use the gym more frequently. I highly recommend!

Despite being open I got no response at all. Contacted at 12:40. It’s 3 and nothing. Bad service terrible reception. Or lack there of lol like “no one special” stated; pathetic service is right about right. From two to one star after employee “Elly” posed fake review. Woefully pitiful.

4.5 for me! This is my second home, a peaceful outlet to recharge. Could use a few phone charging stations in locker room or by pool lockers. It’s very clean, plenty of private space to hide, if you need it! Classes are getting better… It is never crowded and vibes are absolutely positive/peaceful.

So far I am having a bad experience with this place which is sad cause it's pretty convenient. I have been trying to call for some time now and am only allowed to leave a message or text with bots. Pretty lame. Was considering enrollment but I don't like the smell of this place already. Poor staff, poor attentiveness and pathetic service. 2 thumbs DOWN

Overall decent gym to workout in. Essentials are there and for the first 6-10 months of opening I’ve had a pleasant experience working out. Perhaps I’m on my own in this thought but most days I just want to get a workout in and focus solely on that and at times I feel that walking in to the gym I’m being asked about my life constantly…

Clean nice basic facility. Limited class options. Customer service below par.

I signed up for a guest pass in Apr and followed with some questions. They did not respond until mid May. Then I went there using my 1-day guest pass and requested if the person at the front desk could show me around. It didn't happen.

No long term commitment for membership but there is an $100 enrollment fee. Then there is a fine print that you might be charged for the annual feel and/or potentially some sort of fee for them to remodel or improve the facility. I called, telling the agent that I need to reconsider my membership, she said she would send me an email so that I'd have her direct contact info when I'm ready to make a decision. It has been days and she hasn't sent me any email.

I contacted them about swimming lesson months ago and they just responded. In my communication with them to sign up for the swimming lesson, the way they communicate just rub me the wrong way. I had to pay in-person before I can schedule a class, so I did. The front desk was cold in her customer service and she was acted shocked that I'm signing up for an adult lesson, I felt being discriminated.

In summary, nice clean facility but my experiences have been unpleasant and they feel unreliable.

I joined the Active Wellness Center at the end of 2022 when I needed to find a new yoga studio. I was also a member of the local aquatic center and for the same price I was paying for those two memberships for my daughter and myself I was able to join the Active Wellness Center.

The first thing I noticed is that everything was newer, bigger and better than what I was used to at the aquatic center (sauna, weight equipment, etc) and one of my favorite yoga instructors from my previous yoga studio was the one teaching the yoga classes here. The second thing I noticed was the very friendly staff. They always greet you with a smile, they remember your name and they offer genuine conversation and show a genuine interest in you as a person.

One thing I'll note is that I've been on a very big fitness journey in the last year and a half. For almost the past year I've been training Jiu Jitsu and kickboxing, 3 classes a day 3 days a week most weeks. So I am used to putting in a lot of effort in the classes. What has worked out perfectly for me is the class offerings on Tuesdays and Thursdays, which is my days off from MMA. On these days I've got several options, 10am yoga, noon. HIIT class, 5:30 HIIT class and evening yoga. They also have later kid zone hours on these days which is important to me as a single father, because that's the only way I'll be able to get my classes in.

Speaking of the kid zone, they offer so much more than the offerings they had at the aquatic center. Monthly parent's night out, which equates to a pizza and movie party for the kids. They also offer kids yoga on Sundays which my daughter absolutely loves. They are also very friendly there and great with the kids.

The instructors and trainers at the Active Wellness center are universally great. They know what they are talking about and they are inclusive. HIIT classes are intense, but Victoria is great about offering a huge range of options on how to participate at the level you need. Whether that's a beginner or someone with some mobility issues or someone who trains nearly every day and is looking for a challenge; I'm still looking forward to the day I can keep up with her top gear... I'll get there eventually!

I love everything about Active Wellness. From the moment you walk in you are greeted with a smile. I don't have enough room to list out all the employees that have taken me under their wings, but Ethan, Erika and Shari have gone above and beyond to make me feel like I am capable and I am part of the Active Wellness family. I am new to taking classes and I am super intimidated by the process, but the instructors have been amazing! I am so happy I found active wellness. Everyone is super supportive and encouraging.
