Such a great gym! I've struggled to keep a consistent workout routine in the past, but Ascent's group training classes are the perfect combination of support, positivity, and accountability to keep me coming back. Classes are small groups and the trainers do a great job of customizing the workout if you have specific needs, for instance when I was healing from an injury and when I was pregnant.

This gym is amazing! Scott has a deep well of knowledge and a bunch of years of experience and education. He’s so good at customizing workouts for everyone’s individual goals and still allowing you to be apart of the group sessions. He also offers private lessons where it’s even more in depth and specialized. Scott does everything with a great and motivating attitude. No judgement what so ever. Just pure enthusiasm. He pushed me to my goals and I saw my body transform like I never have and I have played sports and been active my entire like. If I could give the gym 10 stars I would!

If somebody had told me a year and a half ago that I would be able to do push-ups off the floor when I was 60, I would have laughed at them. I joined Ascent Fitness & Conditioning almost a year ago, and nailed my first push-ups since high school PE class. Scott and his team of trainers are knowledgeable and encouraging, and the other members are friendly and supportive. I love the small group setting, individualized plans, and no-nonsense nutritional guidance. This gym has it all!

Best gym in Albany. You'll work with professional trainers to reach your goals and receive whatever level of support you want or need. You can get group classes, nutrition coaching, one-on-one training, or a combination of everything.

Many of the offerings are given in a group setting, but the training is geared directly to your capabilities. Scott does a great job of tailoring your workout to your individual needs and goals. You are often working with others and all sharing in very similar tasks performed to your level of comfort and fitness. Highly encouraged for those who are rehabilitating and may need help choosing appropriate exercises or for those who are new to gym culture and just want to be more active and fit. The personal guidance you'll receive here will last a life time.

If you're someone who enjoys being a faceless member of a crowd, this gym isn't for you. Here, you'll be treated like an individual and encouraged by others. Membership here isn't something you have, it's something you DO.

I've been training at Ascent for years and love the positive community and the accoutablity it brings. I never used to do much strengh training until coming to Ascent Fitness & Conditioning and it's completly changed how my body functions in my daily life and the way I look.
I have so much more confidence. The classes are fun, the programming is top notch, and lots of different class times to fit your schedule. The trainers are also great at modifying things for your specific needs. Ascent has a very positive and uplifting community of trainers and members. 10/10!

I joined Ascent fitness two years ago after participating in CrossFit and other structured workouts at local gyms. I was immediately impressed with Scott’s programming and knowledge of modifying exercises to accommodate ailments. The workouts are challenging. I feel the workouts after (always) but they are sustainable in the respect that members are all ages, shapes, and fitness levels. In June 2023, I increased my membership to include personal coaching and accountability from Scott. I have lost 30lbs and have gained more strength, muscle, and endurance at 50 than I have had in decades. I highly recommend Ascent Fitness, you get what you pay for!!!

I was introduced to Scott through the Heroes Movement and I’m so thankful for what he’s doing with his platform. This place is top notch. I have been to a lot of functional fitness gyms and this one rises to the top. Lots of schedule options. Challenging workout for all levels of fitness. If you’re into the nerdy science behind fitness and nutrition the owner can oblige but also keep it very surface level if that’s more your style. He offers a lot of skill and knows his worth. If you’re on the fence… this gym and the owners skill is worth the cost. Plus the members are very friendly.
