They have a clean heated pool, hot tub, and nice sauna (one next to the pool and one in the ladies' room, I don't know about the mens). This is in addition to the traditional courts, weights, and tredmills upstairs. The instructors are great. They will not only motivate you but can also help modify the exercises to your level and needs. Ms. Carol's aerobic class is challenging and fun; We go every week.

Old and outdated. The hot tub has broken/cracked tiles and not very clean. The only benefits of BAAC have vs PF is the pool/hot tub and a room for a pickle ball. PF is cheaper and cleaner and more modern.

A gang of naked elderly women stalked and harassed me for having my 6-year-old son in the women's locker room, who needed help with changing his clothes. They even cornered my kids in the shower room and tried to force them to look at their naked bodies. I shielded my kids with a curtain. The manager banned me for standing up for my family. This really just happened, and I am still in shock!

It is what it is. Its an older building without massuers or a sports bar inside but the water is hot and so are the tubs. I am a new member, and love the atmosphere. I have only used the pool,hot tubs, saunas and locker room. The jets have been broke since my 2nd day at the club and when I mentioned it to the man going into pool room he said uuh? thanks for letting us know, been almost a wk and I asked about them and they acted like they didn't know. The place is pretty run down, it's clean just in serious need of remodel or rebuild. You can see hair floating in main hot tub and pool, seems weird. I will definitely keep going and hope they get the jets fixed fir my physical therapy exercises..

Have gone here since I was a kid in the 90s. Lots of the same equipment. 4 out of about 12 treadmills have worked for the last 3 years and not sure why they don’t move or replace them. There have been some great updates to the place but there is not enough maintenance and care put into it. Rarely is everything working and or clean. If it weren’t the only place offering the amenities in the area, I don’t see how it could stay open. The staff is very friendly and they do offer a great atmosphere and fitness classes which is part of the reason people stick around.

I have been to Bay area athletic club many a times and we have always had very polite and courteous desk people. And there are times when they get really busy that they are not super clean but they're not disgusting or nasty I've read some of the comments and I believe a lot of comments were over the top. They have helped many people that have had disabilities with discounts to stay in shape and with recovery I would highly recommend.

weight machines are "old" and worn out, they should have replaced decades ago. the pool area has issues the cement is cracking and peeling paint in the pool area. the transparent roof over the pool is old & nasty looking.
lobby adorned with someone's old living room furniture. in general this gym has been around since the 1970's and it looks like there hasn't been much maintenance or updating of equipment.
the Gym does have potential- if only the owner invested a little in the business.

the aquatic facilities here are horrible, do not pay the $10 day fee to swim. the water was cloudy and dirty (dirt, hair, coins, bandaids, hair ties littered the pool floor). the pool area smells heavily of mildew. the shower, locker rooms are dank, dingy, and unkempt. it was - no joke - the worst pool i've ever been to. NOT RECOMMENDED.

Nice to have access to a large gym in this area. I don't have to fight for a machine or weights here. There needs to be major updating to this facility. Entrance, carpet, layout is beyond dated. Most of the treadmills do not work or the TV's. Weights are older, clunky. I still get a good sweat in. Would recommend at least streamlining upper workout room, getting rid of everything that no longer functions.

back in 2013 me and my wife had a member ship there. went everyday for 9 days, on the 9th day there was a incident with my wife where some perv swim underneath her and touched her inappropriately. went to the manager, and they blew it off like nothing happen..we asked them to cancel out member ship they said sure we would do that, because we weren't going back. turns out they now, sent me to collections for 2 months left in my membership that they supposedly closed???

Its an average club. Most all of the cardio equipment is very old and doesnt work right. Heart rate monitors, clocks, ect dont work. The free weight stuff is good enough. The staff are great and the place is fairly clean. I like that it has a sauna and hottub in the locker room. Its hard to be happy when i have been to gyms in larger cities that charge leas and have much newer facilities.

This gym I use to go here all the time with my mom and brother waiting in the waiting room untill she was done working out then we would all go down to the clean chlorine pool they use to take good care of the gym especially the pool I went there with my sisters yesterday and we sat in the hot tub the whole time because the pool looked green and slimy my sister put her legs in the pool and when she got out her legs were slimy and green then when we told the girl up front all she said was ok thank you. I am surprise that no one is taking care of the pool so I won't be going swimming for a while.

5 out of five for this place because it was only 5 bucks for full access to the gym! After a workout the sauna access, pool access, and hot tub access is the best. SUPER friendly staff and not packed at all during the weekdays! It was like my friend and I had the place to ourselves. Be a member here for sure or just pop in to relax, this is the place.

This is a great club for locals. The staff is incredibly accommodating and friendly, and the members are great people as well.
It's true, as many other commenters say, that some of the equipment is a bit old (though it all works!) and the building may not be the prettiest, but if you're looking for well-decorated and beautiful building then you probably are not looking for a gym in the first place.
The weight room is almost half treadmills with only one of most other machines, but it's seldom a problem because there are rarely more than 2 or 3 other people in the weight room.

Overall a great place to do everything. Pool, raquet ball, weights, cardio - classes. Enjoyed spending everyday here after work for a weight loss competition. Needs to be remodeled and updated. Everytime I tried swimming laps I had to bully others in the pool just playing around for a lane- on adult lap swim nights. A remodel and enforcing of pool rools would definitely make this place worth the cost

Find another place to go VERY VERY VERY POOR Management, High in dishonesty and lack of integrity , they use their employees as a shield to cover their butts and then the employees have to lie to cover their butts. RUN !! Also my husband had his wallet stolen there, we knew who did it and guy who stole it was still allowed to come, until my husband protested. I had to give a star to post. The way we got treated they will loose a group membership shortly and a single membership. I have heard several other horror stories since going through our own. Horrible customer service, overpriced, and the place is filthy. So disappointed after being verbally abused by a manager for pointing out that there advertising was misleading, and not getting any response when I wrote a formal complaint via email, that I left and never returned with a full months membership still on my account. Will never go back unless the ownership changes.
